Chapter 2

Teal'c found himself wearing a shiny green jacket and shiny red hat with blue jeans and a white pull over shirt as he donned the clothing that was lent to him by Dom. The hat and jacket had the airfield's logo upon it. He then looked at Jack who sported cargo pants, a flannel shirt and a vest. Daniel wore jeans and a flannel shirt while Sam was dressed in blue jeans and a western style blouse she borrowed from Caitlin. The uniforms and gear was placed in a large military surplus footlocker and secured with a padlock in the rear of the hangar.

Dom spoke up. "Now that your four are presentable how about we get ya something to eat? You hungry?"

Teal'c agreed. "Indeed."

Caitlin stated, "I can order a pizza. I am wondering when do we get to see this star gate."

Jack glanced at his team. "It's in that cave."

Daniel added "That cave has Mojave glyphs in it, Jack. That means the Native Americans had a Star Gate in historic times. This is huge, Jack."

Sam suggested "We really should move it to a more secured location."

String spoke up. "So…what do you each do on this team of yours?"

Jack explained, "Carter is out tech expert. Daniel is a linguist and archeologist. Teal'c is backup and I lead it." He then asked. "So…what do you do with the slick helicopter we saw?"

"Cait and I are pilots and Dom is the flight engineer." he confessed.

Sam asked. "How did you get a chopper to do mach one? We don't know anything about it in the future."

"It has a jet engine in it." he stated. "I designed it. We fly it for missions for the FIRM."

Jack asked unsure. "What's the FIRM?"

Daniel informed. "The C.I.A., Jack. In academic circles that are often called the FIRM." He asked, "What kind of missions?"

String stated. "Not every pilot can fly Airwolf. The rotors to jet transfer can be tricky. We do the missions and they find my missing brother."

Jack asked. "Your brother is missing?"

"We were in Nam. He's M.I.A.." he stated.

Daniel pondered. "But you just said not every pilot can fly Airwolf and it's tricky. Wouldn't the FIRM want you flying it as long as possible?"

String asked. "And?"

"What incentive do they have to find your brother?" he asked the obvious.

"They don't know where I have it hidden." he told him.

Daniel recalled. "You mean the rock formation. We saw you enter it."

"Right." he nodded.

Daniel puckered in thought. "But if you are flying these top secret mission in a top secret chopper that not everyone can fly…they really don't need it back."

Dom, Cait and String all traded glances as no one though that perhaps the FIRM didn't really want to find the missing brother since they were doing the missions anyways.

Dom smirked. "We should have you get in a debate with Archangel."

"Who?" Daniel asked.

String disclosed the contact. "Michael Coldsmith-Briggs the Third. Code name is Archangel. He gives us our missions." He shifted his weight. "Tell ya what. You guys show us this Star Gate and we will let you see Airwolf."

Daniel replied. "I could care less about your helicopter. I'm not a pilot. Not really my thing."

Sam rebutted. "I want to see the chopper, Daniel. I am a pilot!"

Jack stated. "I want to see it too." He looked to his friend. "T?"

"Indeed." he agreed.

Daniel rebutted. "That's great, Jack. But we need to get jobs and identification cards since we are stuck here for the next four months and we still need to get a symbiont for Teal'c or find a way to duplicate the medication that Janet made him."

Caitlin stated. "The FIRM might be able to make more of this medication. They would need a sample to work from."

Sam stated, "Going off world to get a juvenile symbiont is going to be dangerous." She then warned. "Of course we need to stay low and out history's way. We can't change the timeline."

String stated. "I think we can set you guys up with some identification cards. Dom here can employ any pilots." He looked to Daniel. "Not sure what job Dom has that you can do."

"I speak twenty-eight languages." he told him.

Caitlin stated. "We could use an interpreter on some missions." She liked Daniel. He reminded her of String in a way.

"We're not taking him on missions." String nixed the idea.

Dom warned. "The FIRM will want, Daniel. He's a linguist." he then insisted. "And we have to keep the firm away from our new friends and that mini gate. Trust me, the FIRM would like to get their hands on that."

SG-1 traded glances. Dom was right. The FIRM would love to get possession of the smaller gate.

Dom added. "We need to give the Colonel and his team a cover. I can say the Colonel is an old war buddy of mine. We can pass Major Carter of as a relative of Cait. We can pass Daniel off as a relative of yours, String. I can pass Teal'c off as a new employee."

"That might work." he agreed.

Cait volunteered. "You can stay with me in my apartment, Major."

"Thank you, Cait. Call me 'Sam.'" she graciously replied.

Dom stated. "I have a spare room here in the hangar that you can have Teal'c." He then looked to String. "You have room at the cabin. The Colonel and Daniel can stay there."

"Cabin!" Jack perked up.

"I own a cabin." String told him.

"Got a pond?" he grinned.

"No," he shook his head as Jack's smile melted. "It has a lake."

Jack grinned even wider. "A lake."

Daniel rolled his eyes and sighed. "Oh' god."

"You got fishing gear?" he asked enthused.

"I do." he nodded noticing that Jack seemed rather excited about the cabin on a lake.

"Great!" he cheered.

Next Day

SG-1 led Stringfellow Hawke and the crew of Airwolf to the cave the housed the smaller Star Gate.

Dom looked upon the smaller Gate and exclaimed. "Wow! That one is really small compared the one Professor Langford had."

Sam nodded. "That Gate is twenty two foot across. This one is only seven feet across. Just large enough for a person to walk through." She then rambled on in thought. "Which would make more sense. If you only need a gate for foot traffic then you don't need a gate that is twenty two foot across."

Caitlin gulped. "The big one is more than twice the size of this thing?" She shined a flashlight on the ring before her.

"Yup!" Jack nodded. "Big ole thing." he motioned.

String was immediate taken by the Gate before him. He started to examine it further. "It has star constellations on it."

Sam grinned. "That's exactly right. It works by using the constellations to dial an address. Like dialing a phone number. Daniel and I were able to figure out how it worked and calculate for the stellar drift."

String asked. "How many symbols does it take to lock on?"

"Seven." she smiled brightly. "Boy, I wonder where you are in the future. You get this."

Jack stated. "That's twenty years, Carter. He's probably fishing on the lake at his cabin."

String stated. "When you guys get back, look me up, Colonel." He noticed Daniel was busy reading the glyphs on the wall. "What does it say, Daniel?"

"It speaks of a demon that comes through Gate to get children. I'm trying to find the symbol for the demon." he told him. The flashlight then landed on a familiar symbol of an eye. "Ra! Ra knows about the mini gate."

Jack miffed, "Ra again! Great."

Sam stated. "There has to be more than one mini gate. If Ra knows then it's safe to assume all the system lords know."

"How come we didn't find this before, Carter?" Jack wondered.

Sam theorized. "It's probably separate from the larger Gate system. Like a maintenance system or auxiliary gate system. I really wish we had a secured place where I could study it further."

String stated. "Only place that would be secure and have the computer power you need is the FIRM."

Dom added, "And we don't want them in on this."

"What about that professor who has the bigger gate, Dom? Could he help?" Caitlin asked.

"He's older than me, Cait." he replied.

"His daughter can help." Daniel told them. "Catherine Langford."

Sam had to agree. "She would help us."

He smiled. "Of course…I would love to meet her father, Paul. He found the Gate first."

String stated. "They found a twenty foot version of this in Egypt."

"That's right." Sam nodded.

"Huh." he pondered.

"String?" Caitlin asked knowing he was thinking of something.

"I wonder what the Pyramids were for." he confessed.

Daniel stated. "They acted as landing pads and an energy source."

Jack looked at his friend. "Energy source, Daniel."

"Yes, Jack. Both a landing pad for the ships and an energy source. I'm updating my theory." he told him. "Sam and I have been looking at the formations a bit closer."

Sam agreed. "It's certainly not a tomb."

String agreed. "Like the Tesla tower."

She grinned. "Exactly!"

Jack asked. "So, when do we get to see the chopper?"

String stated. "We just got here and I'm still looking at the Gate."

"But I want to see the chopper." Jack complained.

Few Hours Later

Jack's eyes landed on Airwolf sitting under the beam of sunlight in the lair. A grin crept across his face as his eyes feasted upon the top secret chopper. He looked over at Sam standing beside him. "That's cool, Carter."

She had to agree. "It is, sir."

String motioned. "I'll give you a tour."

Daniel lingered back as Teal'c, Sam and Jack all got closer to the chopper. He really had no interest in it at all. He shinned the light around the area looking for any Native American glyphs. He soon found some. He began to read the information before him.

Caitlin stood back and let Dom and String show the rest of SG-1 the bird. She noticed that Daniel had spied some old native artwork on the walls. Such artwork was prevalent in many caves in the area and she though nothing of it. She came over to him as he worked. "You find these Indian art all over the place out here." she mentioned.

"I really need to study this." he told her. "This speaks of a race of giants roaming the land."

"Giants." she asked.

"People, up to twelve feet tall. It speaks of giants and ships and of a great traveler from the stars." he informed.

"Wow." she stood rather impressed.

"I wonder if the Native Americans had contact with an alien race." he told her.

"I never thought of that." she confessed. "You are more a people person, huh." she gathered.

"I suppose." he shrugged.

"You would have made a good cop." she assessed.

He cocked an eyebrow. "You were a cop?"

"I was." she nodded. "I flew the traffic chopper."

"Ah," he gave a nod.

"When I was in Hawaii, I saw more wall art in caves there too." she mentioned. "Maybe you should check that out."

"Hawaii?" he asked surprised.

"I know a private detective there. Thomas Magnum. He would help us out." she stated.

"A private detective?" he asked amused. "Thomas Magnum! Magnum P.I.." he jested.

"That's the name of his business." she told him amused.

"You're kidding." he gasped. It sounded so silly to him.

She shook her head. "We should plan a trip to Hawaii."

"Jack would use it as a vacation." he told her.

She looked back at Airwolf. There sat Jack as the stick with the helmet on. She nodded to herself. "He sure would."
