As tired as our bodies may be, we settle into bed and continue talking for hours.
You tell me all about growing up in a rural logging town with your police chief father and substitute teacher mom until they divorced when you were in high school.
"They were horrible together. Mom hated all the constant rain and small town life, but Dad didn't want to leave it behind. She and I moved to Florida." You don't elaborate, and I feel like you're leaving a lot out but don't say anything. And then you sigh. "Some people just aren't meant to be together. Sometimes, it's better to separate for the greater good."
I kiss the top of your head. "I think we're good together."
You look up, and the smile on your face takes my breath away.
Isn't this what I've wanted my entire life? The can't eat, can't sleep connection to someone who appreciates me for being me.
I'm exhausted, and it's making me loose-lipped. "I'm falling in love with you, Bella."
You kiss me crazy and pull away laughing. "That's good."
"Yeah?" I ask, my heart hammering in my chest.
"Yup. I don't dress up like a DC villain, take on a beautiful but evil ex, and skinny dip with just anyone." A quick peck. "I'm falling for you so hard."
Great. Looks like Kate is going to get that damn car one day.
