I will tweak this a bit to be more 'canon' to what actually happens in Secret of the Rings. But other than that! I will most certainly put some Sonamy flare to the end! :D
Prompt:
Sonic, having collected the rings without Shahra this time, came to defeat the escaped Erazor Djinn, who had started erasing history, along with Sonic ever meeting Knuckles, Shadow, or Tails. Even Eggman's very existence was destroyed, along with Shadows, due to his meddling in stopping Gerald Robotnik and furthermore, Chaos hadn't been sealed away by the Echidnas, and they were wiped out by his fury, making Knuckles not born either!
"You… You've erased my friends… my whole world…" Sonic, upon hearing Erazor's monologue on this very fact, was on his knees and pulled dirt into his fists from the ground, shaking his shoulders at the news.
"You… I can't forgive you… How was the wish broken!? You were meant to be sealed for-"
"All time and eternity?"
Sonic lifted his head up abruptly, glaring.
Erazor Djinn laughed, having his arms folded, "You think I couldn't erase that as well?" he gestured a hand out. "The me from the past BEFORE your annoying visit to my pages, helped me. Through Shahra…" he snickered again.
Sonic looked horror-stricken again, before getting up, looking ready to fight, "What did you do to Shahra!?"
He just mused a throaty chuckle, and then threw his arm back, "This is the end, Sonic! The blue rodent of legend is finally having his last chapter written! You're done for!" He threw his hand forward, but before Sonic could be blasted by his might, a bright light shone around him.
The rings each formed into power around him, and he jumped up, hovering in the air, before firing out fire from around him. "I'm threw playing the nice guy! Instead of sealing you away, I'm wiping you out for good this time!"
Sorrow… hatred… rage….
Each ring shown great power in each force he dealt upon Erazor Djinn…
With each hit successfully landed, Erazor's influence on time dwindled, and soon, his friends started to appear again, falling to the ground.
"N…no! Not again!" Erazor fought back, and anytime he landed a hit, his influence grew stronger, and his friends began to fade from existence again.
Looking down, Sonic's fury kept building, seeing his friends lay unconscious, barely faded into reality and halfway from pure destruction…
He tightened his fists and shook down his head, "No.. No… I won't let you… I won't let you…!"
There was a huge energy spike, and Erazor Djinn suddenly found himself in great fear, looking upon Sonic's new form…
Darkness had spiraled into his usual blue, but the white stripes and glowing rings remained…
"I WON'T LET YOU WIN!"
After a horrific battle, Sonic floated down and watched the 'pages of time' flow back into white energy, as the skies turned normal and glowed a brilliant blue again, before fading into it's usual charms, with birds chirping and nature continuing it's designed path.
Sonic looked around, holding his head high as his white sockets were still present, his dark color shifted back to blue, but he was still consumed in his sorrow, rage, and hatred….
He looked at his fist, and tightened them. "I may have been enough… but that should have never happened!" he squeezed down so hard on his fist that he clenched his teeth at the soaring pain, having his fist tremble and shake violent with power.
"…Sonic?"
Sonic suddenly lost focus on what he was doing, and turned around.
Amy looked afraid, seeing him the way he was, and slowly walked up to him.
"Sonic… are you okay?"
He continued his strong stare towards her, and remained silent.
"…Sonic… this isn't you." Amy looked so worried, as she slowly and tenderly made herself move forward and advance closer to him.
"I wouldn't comment if I were you."
The sudden harshness in his voice made her flinch back, and she blinked in shock at what he had spoken. She frowned and stayed in place, "Sonic…"
"I don't need you telling me I wasn't merciful. Erazor's gone. I made sure of it! He can't take away what's mine anymore!" Sonic swiped out his hand, as the ground beneath him cracked and split, making Amy swagger back, even more afraid now.
"Heh, it's best to just stay back." Sonic's cold tone and smirk made her flinch again, bringing her hand to her heart.
"What's… what's going on? what's wrong, Sonic?"
"Hmm?" he raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"…You almost lost us… but in the process of trying to win us back… you've lost yourself." Amy closed her eyes, bending her head. "It's all my fault… I'm the one who re-read the story. I wanted to understand why you always were missing dates with me. I never took you for a bookworm, so I read it. I'm sorry, Sonic… I'm the one that restarted the Arabian Nights!"
His eyes suddenly widened, as he bent himself down, trembling. His hands started to fidget with power, as the rings took more and more control over him.
"You… you release Erazor Djinn…!?"
"Sonic! You aren't yourself! Calm down!" Amy leaned forward.
"YOU ALMOST DESTROYED THIS WORLD!" Power sprung around him in massive spirals around his body, fire being mixed in with that.
She advanced again, looking more with love towards him than fear this time.
"I understand now, Sonic. You really were sucked into those books. You weren't just making it up."
His fury continued to rage, before he heard her last line, and peered up. "You… you thought I was lying?"
"You can't blame me, Sonic! Who ever just naturally jumps in and saves a book series!?" Amy had a point, but this wasn't really the time to make points…
Now Sonic's sorrow increased, "You… you didn't believe me.. You almost ended this world because you didn't trust me!?"
Amy was close enough now and smacked him.
He lost the power that was forming around him, and in his shock he staggered back, placing a hand on his cheek.
"Get a grip! You know I wouldn't put this world in jeopardy on purpose!" she now had her own fire in her eyes, and this only made Sonic twitch a fist, though he would never throw it.
"You…" he gritted his teeth.
"Sonic…" Amy walked more up to him, before looking down and noticing the gash in the earth he had made, and jumped to clear it.
Sonic stepped back, "If you know what's good for you, you'd leave me alone." His threat was evident, but it didn't stop her from walking bravely forward.
"You wouldn't hurt me." she kept her eyes locked on him.
He stopped walking away, spreading his legs apart and looking like he was ready to fight.
"That was before I knew what you've done!"
"You would have sacrificed the world and your friends just because you were upset with me?" Amy kept her voice as calm as she could, but some anger still slipped out.
He tsked and turned his back on her.
"No… you fought for me! Just like you did for the world and our friends! This wasn't just your selfish battle for YOUR time, Sonic! You were fighting for all of us!"
He gripped his head, unable to think clearly with all these negative emotions in him.
"Stop talking…. Stop talking!"
She suddenly embraced him from behind, which had his hands lower from his head, and the embrace actually stop him from overthinking and reacting.
"Sonic… you're forgetting yourself…."
"Myself..?" he looked down at the ground. "…W…What… What am I forgetting?"
The power was slowly draining…
She smiled, keeping her head low and letting it rest right above his back-spines.
"You're Sonic The Hedgehog… fastest thing alive."
Sorrow's ring broke out from him.
"You became a hero, not because you were one, but because you naturally embodied the spirit of one. You would do things no one else would dare. You weren't afraid to stop injustice, and you wouldn't sit by and do things you didn't feel was right. You always did things your way, Sonic. And your way… just happened to be right."
Hatred broke out, leaving only rage behind…
"Sonic… you're our friend. You're never alone cause you care about this world and it's people. You care about us. And if you had too… I know you would sacrifice yourself for this world."
Rage finally spiraled off and formed into a ring, and Sonic returned to his normal self.
"That's what I, and everyone else has always admired about you, Sonic. You never allow your will to be broken, no matter what."
"But… I lost myself…" He leaned back, exhausted as she caught him. "What do you say to that?" he looked disappointed in himself, seeing the rings fall to the ground after floating upwards for so long.
He held a frown on his face, as she bent her knees to set him down, and smiled down to him, seeing his face as he leaned it up against her belly.
"Hehe! You never truly forgot what it was you fought for." She grinned, "And sometimes,… that does embody who you are."
He looked up at her, still looking disappointed in himself, before returning her smile. "I'm back." he stated.
"…Me too." Amy whispered, as his eyelids straightened out into a arch, showing how happy he was to hear that.
The team joined them later too, and everyone ran up to embrace Sonic, showering him with praises as he laughed.
Though, for a moment, within the frenzy, he turned to look specifically at Amy, seeing her laughing and hugging him too in the mix of everyone.
His smile grew, before his usual cocky attitude returned, and he turned to his friends, and laughed a good hardy laugh.
This made everyone grow silent for a second, before laughing with him.
