I hope it's not too late to send in a prompt, but how about one where Sticks finds out that Shadow is a literal government conspiracy, being an immortal hedgehog-alien and all.

Prompts are still on shutdown, so I won't be taking any more until they're open again :) But no worries! You made it just in time!

Lol, oh Sticks.

Prompt:

During a covert operation, Tails downloaded some data from Eggman's computer, hoping to stop his latest plan.

What he wasn't expecting from a secret, top-notch coded file tilted: ARK PROJECT. When the gang were relaxing at his house, they suddenly heard a cry from Tails, staring at his computer in awe.

"Shadow's immortal?!" His hands hovered over the keys, and the gang began to move over to him.

"What's that about Shadow?" Sonic scratched an itch behind his ear, not too concerned.

"Tails! You were shouting out just now." Amy rushed in, dropping something she was knitting that had a very distinct blue color to it… "Are you alright?"

Knuckles and Sticks came up then behind the others.

Sticks put her hands to her hips, pouting. "I hate being smaller than everyone."

She looked to Knuckles, who extended his hand, "Haha, so short."

She stuck her tongue out at him and climbed up his arm, twisting in an animal crawl up it and to his shoulder.

She hugged his head a moment to stay balanced and squinted at the screen while Tails continued.

"Apparently, Shadow was an experiment in hopes of creating the ultimate lifeform to cure humanity. It states here he was destroyed due to his dangerous power, and tendency to revolt."

"…A government… cover-up?" Stick's eyes widened, her grip on Knuckles tightening as one eye got scrunched up and his face morphed a bit with her squeezing hold.

"Uhh… Sticks? Haha… I can't feel my face." Knuckles didn't even stop her, simply stating that as she continued to mush his face out of proportion.

"Woah, Shadow? Actually the ultimate lifeform?" Sonic shook his head a moment, "And here I thought he was just presumptuous."

"How awful… Shadow must have grown up so alone… Trained to be nothing more than an experiment." Amy held her hands close to her chest, but Sonic just 'pfft'd at her act of empathy.

"A failed one."

"Actually… it says here there was a failed prototype. It was sealed under the ocean… Woah! These coordinates state that it's… right beside our island!" Tails exclaimed.

Now, Sticks was already all over this. "Uncovering the government's filthy lies about not creating monsters to rule the known world is one thing, but then asking me to destroy their very existence to protect said world from overgrown tyranny!? Count me in!" she jumped down from Knuckles, already digging into the floorboards and pulling out ridiculous weaponry that she seemed to have hand-crafted herself.

She whispered, quite dramatically, "I'm ready."

"W-…When did you put trash in my floorboards!?" Tails gripped his head and then moved away from his computer, gesturing to his now ruined floor.

Without missing a beat or even moving, Sticks just widened her crazed eyes and continued her whisper, "I've been ready."

"Sticks! You can't just put your things in other people's homes!" Tails protested.

She now scooted her eyes towards his direction, still hunched as if prepared for war. "I've been too ready."

The team agreed that this 'prototype' needed to be taken care of, especially if it was so powerful that they couldn't destroy it, but they were too late.

Eggman had already found out what Tails had taken, and quickly pushed his 3 year plan of taming the prototype to his will into 1 day…

Needless to say, it didn't end so well.

The Biolizard, as it was called, emerged from its depths after Eggman freed it from its prison. Like a titan, it roared and began spouting thick magenta bubbles that would explode upon the village's houses and burn the jungles surrounding them.

It roared its long neck back and charged up, but the Sonic team arrived swiftly to fight it.

It was no use, they were failing. They were all thrown back as Sticks adjusted her aluminum foil hat and straightened herself out. "Gee, this thing really is the works! How do we take it back to the muck of chemical waste it was born from?!"

"You can't."

The team turned around, all shouting out, "Shadow!"

"But we have to stop it!" Amy stated as Sonic followed her with a nod.

"You were created with it. You must know it has a weakness." He gestured to Shadow for help, but Shadow just folded his arms.

"Foolish hedgehog. Don't you recall? Or do you not know? The Biolizard was a predecessor to me. That means it was created to hold no such things as weakness or flaws. However… I was the fruit of those labors and was created in their idealized perfection…" he looked over his hand, then tightened it into a fist. "It may be flawless… but it isn't the Ultimate Lifeform… It does have a fault…" he slowly pointed upwards towards the Biolizard's back, revealing the machine placed upon it. "Without that, it has no life. No power. That machine gives it all it is and all it ever had. If you can dent its life preserver hard enough, it should stop pumping the necessary power into the Biolizard… Maria would have wanted it to not suffer so long… like this." He closed his eyes as he muttered that last part, turning his head slightly away and lowering his hand down.

"Maria?" Sticks raised an eyebrow, still holding a makeshift weapon in her hand towards him.

After hitting directly into the machine enough times, a device inside it was knocked off and caused a short-circuit. The Biolizard turned into a light particles and seemed to explode, the power generated 5 days of free energy in the atmosphere. The trees grew back quickly, the village had power without paying for anything. That's right, Knuckles could afford a lamp again.

All seemed peaceful… but Sticks still hunted down Shadow, who remained at a cliffside, watching the sea roll along the shore of the island…

"I know you're stalking up behind me." He stated, making Sticks flinch as she held her boomerang back.

"You think I'm like him… and you wouldn't be wrong." Shadow turned around, walking off from her. "But if you think I'm being controlled by a higher authority than my own conscience… then you are wrong."

"Do you even have a conscience?" She held the boomerang within perfect distance, squinting her eyes in suspicion at him. "How can I be sure you ain't gonna blast us up like the last one?"

"…You don't know." He smirked, turning back to her. "But… if it helps… I have a good role model."

"Sonic is a terrible leader." Sticks spat out.

"Not the hedgehog!" Shadow growled out, offended.

"What? Everyone looks up to him. In fact, now that I think about it, everyone kinda revolves around Sonic… huh. Weird." She lowered her attack stance and put a finger up to her mouth, seeing a strange connection…

"…I don't follow anyone. Only my own code." He began to turn away.

"Wait!" Sticks held out a hand, causing Shadow to pause.

"If you want a fight, you'll have to come to me some other time. I don't come to anyone." He looked over his shoulder, getting annoyed.

"Well… Was Maria the one who taught you to not blast people up to smithereens?" she withdrew her hovering hand.

His eyes softened a bit, but then returned to their usual dark stare…

He turned his back to her, "…Yes." his head lowered down.

"…And she taught you to not be a government monster that would corrupt society and take over the world?" She slowly brought her boomerang back up to throw.

"…She most certainly did." He seemed to chuckle to himself, looking up at the sky as though his mind was elsewhere…

"…Well, okay then." Sticks cocked her head to the side, still unsure, but then happily nodded and headed off. "Just so you know! I'll be back if I suspect anything of suspicious conduct!" she waved a scolding finger as she walked off, her boomerang resting on her shoulder.

He closed his eyes and smiled, "Hmph." before turning solemn again and walking off…

Through the Biolizard's energy… a girl's silhouette appeared. She seemed to want to follow Shadow but was content with watching where she was and placed her hands behind her back.

The energy burst and her long hair disappeared into bubbles of light energy… that slowly… faded… away…

Knuckles, "Wait,… they used a little girl to make the Biolizard?!" He exclaimed, reading something.

"Knuckles, you can't read." Tails commented as Knuckles nodded.

"That's true. What does this say then?"

"Knuckles, that's a math equation."

"Oh. I know nothing about equators." He closed the laptop.
