When Zara finally pulled the LTD into the MIB garage after enough detours that Jay was sure that they had shaken any possible attempt at pursuit, he spotted Aileen waiting for them, human suit on.
"We got her!" Zara called as she climbed out of the car.
"Kay still keeping an eye on that boy of his brother's?" Jay asked, being careful to watch what he said, not wanting to spill the beans on something that he was sure would be more than a little shocking when she found out.
Aileen nodded. "His brother joined him a little while ago, so I thought I would offer to escort Marshal Walsh down to the lab. Who's our other visitor?" She said with a look at Marie, who had finally climbed out of the car and was looking slowly around.
"Sheridan's girlfriend. They had her in custody and we couldn't just leave her there. I'll run her up to the guest quarters to join him. Zara and Edie can fill you in on what happened when we picked them up. We might have a situation on our hands." Jay said before motioning for Marie to follow him.
"I take it that things didn't go as smoothly as we hoped?" Aileen asked. "Marshal Walsh, this way, please."
"Getting them wasn't the problem." Zara told her. "Duplicated something close to whatever that brother of Zealtor's did to take out the power at my hospital and got hold of them in the dark. Sorry about the sedative, by the way." She added to Catherine. "It seemed like the safest way to do it."
"What is this place?" Catherine was carefully observing things as she was led along a series of hallways. Government, was this place some sort of government installation? It had that feel, but at the same time there was something very strange about the place too. What in the world had Sam gotten himself into this time?
Should she try to explain things? Probably better to leave that to Kay's brother, though, Aileen decided after a moment's thought. "Why don't we wait on that, until you have a chance to talk to Marshal Gerard? I'm sure he can bring you up to date on the situation."
Before Catherine could reply, she caught sight of something at the other end of the hallway. Something, no someone, she realized as she noticed the lab coat whatever she was seeing was wearing. Someone with blue skin, goggly eyes and what looked like some sort of branch like thing sticking out of his head. She stopped abruptly and stared in shock. "What is that?" What in the world had Sam managed to get himself messed up in now?
"Zealtor. His brother gave me the idea for the blackout trick." Zara told her. "Don't worry. I'm pretty sure that they'll be able to get the power back on again much sooner than the three days it took at my hospital. To mess things up that badly, you have to be pretty much a total loon like that family."
'Let's get you to Marshal Gerard, and we can get things cleared up." Aileen nudged Catherine slightly to get her moving again, and kept safely in front of her until they were past Zealtor.
An alien. Catherine's eyes went wide as she got a better view of Zealtor as they past him. An alien. That was an…. She blinked hard, but he was still there. Okay, either she had just had some sort of mental break, or aliens were real. An alien. It would explain Cosmo, though. At least it would explain Cosmo. She clung tightly to that thought.
"What happened with the pickup?" Aileen asked Zara and Edie once she was sure that they were far enough away from Zealtor that he couldn't blurt out something that Catherine didn't need to hear from anyone but Kay's brother.
"I took out the lights, Agent Jay got the marshal and Edie got the girlfriend, but somehow that weasel was able to follow us." Zara told her.
"Could it have been luck?" Aileen asked.
Zara shook her head. "I could hear him right behind us, not tripping over anything or stumbling. I could see someone if they realized the blackout was triggered and figuring it was some sort of grab, guessing that whoever it was would have to head for the stairway and trying to get there, but I just don't think that they could have moved like that without at least a few stumbles. It sounded like everyone else on that floor was reenacting what happened at the hospital when Zealtor's brother dropped in. I just hope human bones heal as well as Jeedangian bones."
"I'm no expert, but if that was the weasel on the roof, the weapon he had didn't look like a human one." Edie added.
Just perfect. "No chance he could have followed you?" Aileen asked.
Zara shook her head. "We got out from the roof. I don't think he would have been able to make it to the street to follow us in time. I took as many detours as I could think of on the way back, though, just in case."
"But he would have to know that the MIB's involved." Edie told her. "If he didn't before from the beruga, he would have to now from seeing the LTD."
"Go find Zed and let him know what's going on. See if he can get more security in place." Aileen told them. "I'll be up as soon as I talk to Kay. Right in here." she motioned Catherine towards the door to the lab.
Catherine let out a sigh when she spotted Noah, tucked into bed, seemingly sound asleep, in the room she had been led to. Fine, he looked perfectly fine to her, although slightly pale, and she felt the tension she had been holding onto easing. If something had happened to him, she had been terrified of the damage it would do to Sam. At least she didn't have that problem to worry about. How bad could dealing with aliens be compared to her worries for Sam?
"Cath?" Sam stood when he spotted her. She wasn't yelling or threatening to fire him yet. Or threatening to get Cosmo kicked of the planet, if she had figured out that aliens were a real thing. Was that a good sign?
"Sam, I understand that you're to blame for my being kidnapped and brought here, wherever here is. Would you like to try to explain or should I just arrange for the chicken suit to be delivered?" Catherine said.
"I like her." Aileen said quietly as she eased over to join Kay, who was quietly standing in the back of the room. "She saw Zealtor and didn't freak." She smiled slightly as she spoke, before continuing. "We might have a situation though. Something's going on with the shooter. MIB might be more involved in this case than we were thinking. I sent Zara and Edie to update Zed."
Just perfect. "Sam, the both of you stay here. We'll be right back." He told his brother. If the shooter was an alien or was involved with aliens, this could get complicated fast.
Catherine's jaw dropped in shock when she caught sight of Kay, and she just stared silently as he exited the room with Aileen.
"Cath?" Sam approached her carefully. Definitely not how he wanted her to find out about his brother.
"There are two of you." Catherine said as she turned from the door to Sam. "There are two of you and apparently aliens are a real thing. Would you like to explain why in the world there are two of you while you're not wearing a chicken suit and still have a job?"
