When Sticks stumbles upon a new water species and befriends a young boy she races back to tell the gang, Sonic is enjoying the 'merladies' who have heard of his heroism as Amy tries to 'make a point' that he's spoken for. Knuckles hangs out with some shark dudes as Tails learns from an outcast how the water is being polluted, and the merfolk need the dam to come down so they can swim up to their second home.
The second home is a beautiful paradise for the merfolk, as the team is determined to take this up with the mayor.
He declines their request.
Upon further inquiry the major admits that pulling a move like that, while he's trying to be re-elected, could ultimately get him out of the job!
Upset by his selfishness, the team rallies the villagers and gets them to sign a petition, which gets stolen by Perci, who is determined to make a most profitable political deal in exchange for it back. She wants the government to help pay for the poor, as the team go out and do another petition for charity increases for the less fortunate, as the mayor had declined her as well.
The team are willing to comply, seeing as it was a good thing she was fighting for, and got both petitions back.
However, they spent the whole day getting signatures, and Eggman had the whole day to scheme…
Eggman had captured the merfolk and forced them into pushing and spinning turbines in water, like hydropower to fuel his robots, as they were all trapped within them.
The gang come back to see the water drained and Eggman's new titan army! Powered by exhausted and frightened fish people!
Battling, they realize it's no use and Sonic makes a speech about freedom and fighting for it, which makes the merfolk rebel against Eggman, and even if they're getting electrocuted inside the robot, they refuse to push the turbines and spin the water to have the robots function.
"NOOO!" Eggman reels his head back, and smashes his fists on his control panel. "How is this possible?! They'd rather DIE than serve!?"
"Give it up, Eggman!" Sonic races to Eggman, fighting him dead-on as Knuckles helps him out, and Amy and Tails take the robots down while he's distracted and free the merfolk.
Once Eggman is out for the count, the gang have to get the merfolk to the water, since they busted the tanks they were held in within the robots.
Hurrying to try and save them, the villagers and less fortunate, lead by Perci, make a stunning appearance as they help one another out.
The mayor joins in, acting like it was his idea in the first place, and the gang all work together to carry the merfolk to the other side of the dam, now that there own water was drained by Eggman.
"thank you. We once held a rule that we shouldn't speak to land dwellers… I'm happy I broke that rule." the young boy stated, having himself and his family in the water, as he looked to Sticks. "I can never thank you, or your friends, and their families enough." To merfolk, everyone was family, regardless of blood. So when he said 'family' he meant their friends and those who helped out.
"No problem!" Sticks mimicked Sonic's wink, smile, and thumbs up action, as Sonic looked shocked for a moment, before realizing he had been ripped off and folded his arms, tapping his finger and shaking his head at Sticks.
"Anytime you need us, you just let us know, alright?" Amy stated, patting a young dolphin girl's head as she jumped in the water, liking Amy's kindness.
"But how will we contact you?" A woman spoke up, looking to be like an angel fish, as the mayor cleared his throat, stepping up.
"Well, I suppose I'll have to get Tails on that, now won't I?" he smiled to Tails, who looked at him a bit with suspicion.
"Huh?"
"Ho, ho! My boy! Don't be so humble!" He pulled Tails to him, as if they were buddies as the press all shot pictures of him with his arms around Tails like they were buddy-buddy. "You will create a water-phone! That way, we have contact." he suggested. "Brilliant? Oh, I know!" he acted like Tails whispered that word in his ear, and then threw him to the side, spreading his arms out so the press could see him better. "And it's all thanks to the Sonic team! Who I recommended for this gravely important mission! So vote for me! The mayor! Hoho, I make good calls."
"Ffph, yeah right!" Knuckles spat out, "I can't believe he used US to get his votes!"
"Calm down, Knuckles. At least we got what we wanted, and if he does too, then let him be happy. We'll be HAPPY to remind him of this little 'deed' we pulled off for him." Amy glared back at the mayor, but let it go, for now at least… until it was relevant to use this incident again.
"Heh, this is why-" Sticks was about to say something as the others shook their heads.
"We know, we know, you hate the government!"
"Hehe."
"Ugh, I smell like an old man!" Tails whined out, as Sonic laughed.
"Come on, gang. I smell fish on ya too, Tails. Let's just go home and wash this day off!" Sonic had some slim on him from the merfolk he carried, and whipped his hands to try and get the majority of it off of him.
(I decided to go with a episode pitch, what to you think? :) )
