An Interesting First Day: Part – 1
As we head into the next chapter, if any of you are wondering if we will see Nigel again in the story. Yes, he will have a few cameo appearances. I just thought it would be a great way to introduce him to the story haha! Anyway, I don't want to spoil the story anymore…so let's get right back to it!
The Very Next Day…
After last nights events, Nico had returned to his room after a night of drinks to ease his mind.
Moments before he was due to start his shift, he was currently sat in the hospital staff canteen. Having a coffee with Pedro, Blu and RDJ. All of them eager to start the new day.
"So last night, I really think things are looking better between me and Lillian. Especially after the talk we had." The male canary confidently spoke whilst he was drinking his morning espresso.
"Good for you bro! Hopefully you two can get things back on track." Pedro gave his best friend a pat on the back.
"So…I heard that you had a little run in with the new gardener eh?" Nico playfully nudged the cardinal, who all of a sudden went on the defensive.
"What do you mean? I don't know what you're talking about?!" He rose his voice a little. A clear sign of him being evasive.
"Listen, it's alright to find a girl attractive man. To be fair. Sofia is a very attractive girl."
"I know. I mean…is it kinda weird that I'm having all these…weird feelings in my chest?"
"It's not weird at all dude!" RDJ spoke in a comforting manner. "It just means that you find her very attractive! To be honest, I think you two would make a pretty good couple."
"You really think so?" Pedro asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Of course! Listen, she is attractive, sassy, and she seems very fun and up beat. You should maybe consider at least spending time with her to decide what to do next." Blu pointed out after finishing his cup or coffee. "Mmm, by the way. How did Nathaniel get on with his first shift?"
"He was pretty nervous. But he was very hyper when I passed him by the elevator. He may have have had one too many coffees last night." RDJ smirked and picked up his flashlight. "Well I better go and relieve him from duty, later guys! We still on for tonight?"
"Yeah for definite! Although, I do feel sorry that Nath won't be able to join us." Nico pointed out that all the guys were going on a guys night out. But as the red eyed man was the second security guard, he had to do the night shift while they went out drinking. "Maybe we could bring him back a burger or something?"
"We did that for Lexi from time to time when she was running the emergency shift for the suicidal patients." Blu remarked after joining RDJ walking out the canteen. Leaving Pedro and Nico still standing there talking.
"What am I gonna do bro? She clearly is very hot! But I don't wanna get the wrong idea here? Especially since she only just started working here. And I don't wanna scare her off on the first day." The male cardinal confided in his best friend to gain some much needed advice.
However, due to the current position the man canary is in currently with his girlfriend…Ummmm, he's not exactly the best person to ask about this kind of thing.
"Look man, you just gotta go with your gut. What does your gut tell you?" Nico asked with a serious expression.
"That I want a cupcake?" He answered honestly, but that earned him a slap across his face. "What the…"
"Will you stop thinking about food! I want you to pay attention to what I am saying god damnit!"
"Okay, but you don't gotta be mean about it…" Pedro rubbed his side cheek, right before searching the cupboards for any cakes or cookies somewhere.
"Just get on with the day. Do the morning routine. When it comes to our two hour free period, we chill and have a beer you and me. Then after the chillin' we do the afternoon routine. Then when the shift is over, we can chill and…" Nico was about to finish but Blu knocked on the door to snap them out of their conversation.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
"Let's go boys! Let's get to work! Oh, three of the new patients have left a tonne of semen on their bed sheets. One of them has blood on their pillow." The blue man nodded and left the canteen to deal with one of the older patients.
Both the canary and cardinal glanced at each other slowly for a few seconds. You could honestly see the anticipation in their eyes. That they wanted to pick the easier job out of the two of them. So much so that they began to behave like children.
"I'm not doing it…" Nico started the back and forth, that became a petty argument.
"Well I'm not doing it, so you have to do it…" Pedro was adamant that he won't be cleaning up any bodily fluids.
"I'm not going to do it, so in reality you have to do it…"
"I'm not going to do it because you will need to do it…"
"Well I'm going to not do it, just so you will do it!" Both of them were literally trying so hard not to raise their voices to upset any of the more relaxed patients. Although, they did find it a little difficult not to be annoyed with each other.
"Well I just won't do it!"
Nico then got in his face. "Nah-Uh!"
"Yeah-Huh!" Pedro answered back as he was slowly backing away towards the door.
"Nope, I'm not!"
"Yes you are!"
"No I'm not!"
"YES! YOU ARE!"
"YES I AM!" The male cardinal switched his words around to try and trick his best friend…and lucky for him, it worked like a charm.
"NO YOU'RE NOT!" Nico yelled at him as he was just about to walk out the door. But again…he only just realised what Pedro had put into his mind. "Hold on…Wait!"
"Sorry bro! You did say that I won't be cleaning up cum and blood today!" Pedro chuckled and did some cocky back flip. Before he went waltzing dish the hallway with a smug look on his face.
"Haaa…Well, I guess I'm on bodily fluids duty." Nico chuckled and rolled his eyes. Right before he also left the room with sone gloves to…clean up the mess.
Let's Head To Nathaniel…
Once RDJ finished drinking his morning coffee, he made it downstairs to the guard post to begin his shift. But once he arrived there, he saw that Nathaniel was asleep at his desk.
"NATH!" He banged his fist on the desk to make him wake up.
"WHAT?! WHY?! WHO?! HOW?!" The red eyed man jumped to his feet and frantically moved his head around. Only to see that RDJ was standing there with a smirk on his face. "Oh…Hi…" Her nervously spoke whilst scratching the back of his head.
"Hi there sleepy head. Why were you asleep?" He asked him sarcastically. But not in a rude way…more of an amused one.
"I-I wasn't! I was…resting my eyes." He lied in embarrassment.
"Dude, you realise that if you fall asleep again, Blu may likely fire you." RDJ rose an eyebrow when asking him.
"I'm sorry…It won't happen again." He sheepishly lowered his head in defeat.
"Very good. Now, how was your first day as a security guard?" Changing the subject instantaneously, he wanted to get to know the new staff members. As he technically was going to be training him now.
"Terrible! One of the patients broke out of their room last night, and I had to tase them to stop them from attacking me. Then Blu had to drag him into the solitary confinement room." Nathaniel explained whilst he sighed in defeat. "It couldn't be worse than dealing with the criminals."
"Tell me about it." RDJ sat down on the chair besides him. "I don't even know why he decided to keep them here in the first place?"
"Blu did get paid $5million to add to the hospital budget, if he agreed to take them in." Suddenly, Jewel appeared from outside of the elevator and began walking towards the security desk in the middle of their conversation. "RDJ, I need to talk to you before you start your shift. It's urgent." She sounded so terrified, that he immediately wanted to make sure that she was okay. Considering he felt like Jewel was a really good friend of his.
"Sure Jewel. Nath, your shift ends in an hour precisely. Can you do a perimeter of the outside of the asylum to make sure there is no trouble?" He asked his trainee, who. Odder his head and grabbed his taser and pepper spray. Walking away from the duo.
Jewel sat down on the desk in front of him, leaning back in a relaxed manner. "RDJ…I need to talk to you about…the incident yesterday…" She started off quite slowly, lowering her head in sadness.
"Okay? What's going on Jewel?" RDJ scooted a little closer to her, and wanted to listen to her story better.
"I felt like…Two hands firmly pushed onto my back. But I couldn't tell if they belonged to a man or a woman. And when they pushed me in that closet…I could feel a huge amount of fear. Like I've just seen a ghost." The fear emerging from her beak would be enough to make anybody shake to their core.
"Alright…So if it was a ghost…How would they be able to push you?" The blue and gold man wanted to sound like he was being understanding and believing everything that she was saying. Even though he himself did believe in the paranormal and the supernatural thing. He still wanted to see how a ghost would even be capable of such things.
"Do you believe me though?"
"Of course I believe you! I shudder at the thought of it. But I'm saying that a ghost wouldn't have the strength to push you? Unless they were able to possess someone to do it."
"So you do believe me?" She asked again with a hopeful expression.
"I really do." He nodded his head and placed a hand on her shoulder in a friendly manner. "Listen, why don't you just head to your room. Run a bath. Play some smooth music and relax. If anything else weird happens, you will be the first to know."
"You're right…I'll do that." She smiled at him and have him a hug. Before she began walking away. But before she did, she remembered something that she was supposed to tell him. "Oh, by the way. After your guys night out, Lila said she wanted to hang out in my room with Blu and wanted you to join us."
"Huh? How comes?" RDJ pondered with a look of confusion.
"Now if I told you, then it wouldn't be a surprise would it?" She playfully winked at him and walked off. Rendering him to scratch his head in confusion.
"Now I hope it's not one of those games of strip poker. Jewel and Lila rigged that last time so Blu and I would always end up being stripped first." RDJ rolled his eyes and proceeded to check through the camera footage.
Now Let's Head To The Garden…
"I cannot believe I fell asleep on my first shift! If my boss finds out, he's gonna fire me!" Nathaniel was really annoyed with himself that he didn't do what he was supposed to do during his first shift.
He thought whilst he checked out the perimeter he would check everywhere thoroughly to make sure there was no trouble.
After checking around the front of the hospital, he wanted to do one last check of the garden to be on the safe side of it all.
So he of course went out the back entrance and passed Sofia on the way out. "Oh hey Sof. How was your first day yesterday?" He asked her kindly, as they did have a brief conversation last night when he was on the night shift.
"Pretty good Nath. This job is so easy. Pays well. And I get to enjoy being in the sun. Couldn't be better." She replied kindly, grabbing a bottle of water from the mini fridge. "Mmm, by the way. That new nurse in sun bathing in the garden. That Skyler chick? She seems pretty cool."
"Ummm…Sky-Skyler you say? Have I met Skyler yet?" The man with the fiery red hair all of a sudden began to feel a little…nervous about the fact that he found out Skyler was sun bathing in the garden. However, Sofia didn't really pay much attention to it.
"Yeah, I think right now she's doing it topless. I don't blame her. Gotta get the full tan right?" She smirked in amusement and went back outside to carry on her gardening work.
As for The blue macaw man, for sone reason he found himself walking faster into the garden. But was it because he wanted to get the job done faster…or was it due to the info that the female cardinal had just given him?
Once he got around the corner and strolled into the main garden…that was when he realised, that what Sofia had told him was in fact the truth.
Skyler wanted to spend her free period in the morning doing a bit of sun bathing. And even went to the full extent of her going topless to get a full body tan.

"M-Me? N-N-No! I was just…Ummm…I was just checking you out the perimeter…" What he just said sounded so wrong in his head. So much so that he was now saying random things. "Not checking you out…Not that I wouldn't!"
"You wouldn't?" She tilted to the side in a very sexy pose, which made him babble even more. "That's a relief…Because I don't mind you checking me out…" She winked playfully and began rubbing one of her nipples with her finger. Her large breasts were shiny due to her rubbing herself with sun lotion. And Nathaniel began to sweat a little.
"Ahem…Well, ummm that's good. I ummm…wouldn't want to offend you…" He scratched the back of his head whilst smiling at her.
"Oh you haven't! In fact, I was actually wondering if you could do a quick favour for me?" She blushed a bright purple when noticing that he was nervous around her.

"Could you rub some cream on my back?"
"What?!" His eyes widened in shock.
"Yeah? If you would be so kind?" She giggled and winked, whilst she leaned upwards. With her back turned to him, so he could rub sone sun lotion on her.
"Sure. Ummm…I can do that!" Nathaniel glanced over his shoulder to see if anybody was paying attention to what they were doing. Luckily for them, they were in the secluded part of the garden. So they would he most likely undisturbed.
He sprayed some of the lotion on her back as it was a spray bottle. And just as he would rub her back with the lotion, he maintained a confident look as he didn't want to freak out from rubbing a half naked girl with sun lotion.
"So, ummm…Looking forward to your first shift?" Nathaniel wanted to break the awkward silence between the two of them.
Who could blame him really?
"I am actually, thank you for asking. I do however feel like Blu will assign me one of the criminals in there. And I don't know how I would feel about being the nurse or a convicted child molester without me bashing his head in!" She replied very honestly. "How about you? Did you enjoy your first day?"
"Ughhh…Not really. Some creep broke out of his room last night and tried causing havoc. So I had to tase him while Blu strapped him in a straight jacket."
"Jesus! Did you get hurt?"
"Me? No no. Takes a lot to hurt me Skyler! I'm made of stone!" He confidently responded, working his way on her lower back.
"Ahhhh, so that's why you got a hard on when you saw my girls?" Skyler giggled playfully, referring to her enormous bare breasts. That glowed in the sunlight, because of the sun lotion.
"Ummm…Ughhh…You saw that?" He paused in horror. Now feeling increasingly embarrassed. That's why his cheeks were almost turning purple.
"Hehe yeah, but that's okay! I gotta say, if I saw you without a shirt…let's just say my kitty would be purring…" She then began referring to her her sensitive spot. This made him blush uncontrollably.

"NATHANIEL?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Suddenly both Skyler and Nathaniel jumped at the sound of a very enraged voice coming from their boss. Who was walking through the garden with a clip board and pen.
"S-SORRY SIR! I WAS JUST…" The blue male approached him with a really fearful look on his face. Just as Skyler was putting her shirt and shorts back on.
"Just…Just sign off for the day and ill see you in my office." Blu sternly responded and sighed. Before he was then approached by the blue female behind the red haired man.
"Sir, it's my fault! I asked him to rub sun lotion on my back as he was the nearest one to me. I'm sorry, don't blame him. Blame me." Skyler defended him, taking the blame for what just happened.
"Oh no. You misunderstood what I'm mad about here. If you guys wanna do that, that's fine. I just wanted to discuss with Nath about doing some extra overtime ahead of next week. Because RDJ and Lila have their anniversary weekend."
"Oh ummm…Right! I-I can do that for sure sir!" Nathaniel went back to my a normal tone of voice to avoid himself from getting into trouble.
"It's okay Nath, you can call me Blu." The blue man grinned and shook his head whilst walking away. "Oh and…by the way…" He paused in his tracks as he noticed the way Skyler was blushing in embarrassment. "Next time, aim for the thighs when rubbing lotion. Then you've got her…" He winked at him and patted his back.
"Wait what?" He blushed a light pink.
"Relax, I can tell when someone is interested in someone. Hahaha." He chuckled in amusement and made his way back inside.
"Again…I'm sorry about getting you into trouble." Skyler lowered her head sadly, scratching the back of her head.
"Hey, it's not your fault! It was actually pretty funny if you think about it?" Nathaniel smirked as she also found the humorous side of this.
"Yeah I suppose you are right hehehe!" The blue eyes female giggled and smiled at him warmly. "You know, you are so easy to talk to. I've never really had someone so easy to talk to before."
"I agree with you. I really enjoy talking to you too, and I've enjoyed our moments together." He smiled back at her, gazing deeply into those piercing turquoise eyes.
"Hey ummm…My shift doesn't start until 2pm. Maybe when you finish your shift we could possibly get to know each other a little bit more? I mean, if it's cool with you of course." Skyler beamed in a hopeful tone, shuffling her feet along the floor.
"Well…I've already technically seen you naked. So I do like the idea or getting to know you a bit more." He joked a little bit with her, which made her giggle even more.
"Nathaniel, you are too funny!" She gave him a little playful slap on his shoulder. "Great! Shall we meet in the canteen for a coffee?"
"Sure! I'd really like that." He agreed to her invitation.
"Cool…"
"Cool…" Both of them looked to the ground a little bashful, then Nathaniel continued his route around the perimeter of the outside. As Skyler felt quite comfortable in his presence. Then walked inside the hospital, to get showered and changed into her nurse uniform, before meeting the guy she had been flirting with.
Now Let's Head To Lila…
Moments after RDJ had begun his shift at the de unity desk, Lila spent the first couple of hours in the morning dealing with two of her original patients.
The blue throated macaw woman who is obsessed with eating toilet paper. And of course Polly the green parakeet, who had managed to stop chanting 'I'm a pretty bird!' as much as she used to.
Despite the fact that she was not a usual patient of the purple haired nurse, she still took on the patient like she was her own. And she worked hard to maintain their stages of recovery quite well.
Although, it is a very difficult job to take on extra patients all at once.
"Haaaa…Well, I'm gonna grab some ice cream from the walk in freezer. Hopefully they've got double chocolate flavour?" Lila licked her beak at the thought of having a sweet dairy frozen treat.
She had been working very hard as much as the others have, and now she wanted to take some ice cream from the walk in freezer. Then bring it upstairs to her room and put it in her mini freezer, to enjoy having some with her boyfriend later that day.
The blue female grabbed the handle and pulled the door open, once she did so a huge gust of freezing cold air surrounded her. Making her shiver a lot, before even setting one foot inside the cold room.
"BRRRRRRRRRR! Jeez! I better grab the whole tub before I turn into a giant blueberry ice lolly." She thought to herself as she made her way inside the freezer, moving some boxes aside to get to where all the flavours of ice cream were.
Once she had found the one she wanted…
BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! TCHHHHHHHHH!
"WHAT THE?!" Lila jumped at the sound of a thunderous banging noise coming from behind her.
A few seconds after she found the tub of ice cream she wanted, the door to the freezer had been slammed shut and locked from the outside.
"Hello? Blu? Jewel? RDJ?!" The purple haired female adjusted her long sleeves to move her hands inside the cuffs to keep them warm.
Whilst she tried to push the door from the inside, the latch had been closed on the outside. Meaning someone had locked her in the freezer.
"GUYS?! CAN YOU HEAR ME?! ANYBODY!" Lila began basking her fist on the food several times to attempt to gain someone's attention.
But just when she thought things couldn't get any worse, she suddenly felt like the temperature in the freezer was gradually dropping. Meaning it was getting even colder. As if someone was tampering with the temperature.
"S-S-So c-c-cold-d-d! HELLLLLLP! HELP ME!" Lila shivered violently whilst she was pounding on the door vigorously. "HELP ME!"
Let's Briefly Cut To Lillian…
"Okay, I now have to go to room 298 to check on the blue jay guy who keeps on trying to jump off the bed pretending he is superman? Then I've got to…" Lillian was checking through the list of patients that she was going to be caring for that day.
However…She was taken out of her own thoughts. When she heard screaming from inside the freezer.
"HELP ME! HELP ME! HELLLLLLLP!"
"LILA?!" The canary female instantly recognised who's voice it was, and she instantly pressed 017 on her pager to signal the emergency number.
She then proceeded to sprint around the corner towards where the refrigerator and freezer were. However, she could tell which one Lila was trapped in due to the latch rumbling a little bit.
"LILA?!"
"LILLIAN! GET M-M-ME OUT OF HERE!"
"HOLD ON!" The female swiftly picked up the key to unlock the latch, and she managed to unlock the door easily.
Once she flipped open the latch, she yanked the door open as hard as she possibly could. Which in doing so caused an incredibly freezing blue female to shoot out of the freezer. Wrapping her arms around her close friend.
"OH MY GOD! WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG!" Lila couldn't wait to get into the warmer room again, wrapping her arms around her friend tightly to get as warm as possible.
"What the hell happened?!" Lillian piped up in concern, taking off her jumper to wrap it around the shivering blue female.
"Brrrrrr! I went to grab some ice cream and then someone slammed the door to the freezer shut and locked it! Then someone tampered with the temperature!" She shivered so much that her hands were shaking.
"Well you…"
"LILLIAN?! WHAT'S THE MATTER?!" Blu came running around the corner with RDJ and Nathaniel. And soon Lila ran into the arms of her boyfriend, who felt the shocking sensation of how cold she was.
"Fucking hell honey you are freezing! We need to get you a hot bath!" RDJ spoke in concern, as he offered to give her his security jacket. "Lillian, what happened here?"
"I don't know? She said that someone slammed the freezer door shut and locked her in there. When I turned up, the latch was on and the temperature in there dropped by minus fifteen degrees or so!" She was so concerned with her friend Lila, that she now was starting to believe what Jewel was talking about to the girls the other night. "This is fucked!"
"Okay, let's just all take a deep breath and calm down…" Blu was trying to control the situation, but Lila grabbed him by his lab coat and shook him.
"CALM DOWN?! I'LL SHOW YOU CALM!" She snarled at him as he widened his eyes in surprise.
"Lila! Stop it!" RDJ separated the two of them and stood in front of his beloved. "Honey…Did you see who locked you in there?" Placing his hands on her shoulders, he gazed deeply into her eyes lovingly.
"I didn't see anyone. The door slammed shut! I think someone is…"
RCCCHHHHHHHHHHH! (The sound of a metal beam creaking)
"What in the…"
"LILA LOOK OUT!" RDJ grabs her by the arm a little tightly, and pulls her to the side swiftly. As the metal beam above where she was standing almost collapsed on top of her.
Even though it barely touched her, a bit of the scrap metal cut Lillian on her arm a little. As she held onto it tightly, when blood began to trickledown her arm.
"Oh my god! Lila and Jewel are right! I think someone is trying to kill us!" The female canary screamed at Blu in a ferried manner. Just as Lila was in shock from the metal beam almost landing on her, which would most likely severely hurt or kill her if her boyfriend hadn't of saved her.
"How the hell is all of this happening?" Nathaniel asked the group with a horrified look on his face.
"I don't know. But listen! Nobody is trying to kill us! There has to be a plausible explanation for all of…" Blu was just about to finish his sentence, but that was until the power just went out. Trapping all of them in a pitch black darkness. "This…"
"Oh god…Oh god…Oh god!" Lila began panicking more and more, clenching her chest whilst she was having a panic attack. "I don't like this! Someone please do something!"
"Right. RDJ, take Lila and Jewel to your room. I'll see you guys up there once I fix the power with Nathaniel. Lillian, I need you to go and check the camera footage to see if someone had erased what happened here." The blue macaw man nodded his head at everyone, and they all nodded back in response.
RDJ switched on his flashlight and proceeded to take both of the blue females up to his room.
Lillian wasted no time walking to the security desk at the front door to check the camera footage.
And Blu took sone tools from the supply closet and took Nathaniel to the basement to try to fix the power.
What the hell was going on?
What the hell indeed! Nathaniel obviously had a good end to his shift when he ran into the girl he had a crush on sunbathing without a shirt on. Pedro is warming up to the idea of getting to know the new feisty cardinal Sofia. Lila got locked in a freezer, by the same person who locked Jewel in a supply closet. Someone is out to get them…whoever it was…now they must be a little 'Too crazy to handle'. XD Anyway, I'll see you all soon for the next chapter!
