Now, more independent, each of them are going their own way and pursuing their dreams. But, doing so, Amy has to leave her friends behind for a few years. When Sonic returns from an adventure and finds out, he races against time to say one last thing to her. Will he reach her? And what does he have to say?

Upon hearing Amy's been off training within the Enlightenment Mountains of the Spiritual Monks, Sonic hastily makes his way up the large ancient mountains to the shrine she's training in.

Having come back to try and catch up with old friends, he's excited to see her again, but also afraid of what may be in store…

Has she changed? Is she mad he's been gone for so long?

Is she a nun?

He stopped with his hands out to the sides of him and his body just slightly leaning on one side as he looks up to the large gates of the huge mountain shrine.

He smiles, this looks interesting…

He walks through as he sees the culture all around him, looking very mystic but also showing how long the traditions of these people have been going on for generation to generations.

Making his way to the monk's training grounds, a man in orange robes bows to him, hands together in respect, as Sonic bows his head in courtesy.

"What brings the mighty wind to these humble mountains of clouds, dear wanderer?" the man asked, seeing as Sonic could run extremely quickly.

"I'm looking for a girl named Amy." Sonic stated, placing a hand on his hip. "Know where I can find her?"

"Ahh~ The Rose Maiden. She is a powerful spirit of force and affection. She shows mercy even when none is asked, and gives her whole heart to her practices and training. She is with her master, the Armadillo." The man pointed to an old brown and kinda hairy man, leaning on his long staff, and having a hunchback form to him.

"Thank you." Sonic nods, and races over, "Excuse me-"

"Not now, the match begins." The man stated, pointing down to the arena.

Sonic peered down to see a beautiful woman in a particular stance, taking on a very muscular tiger, only using his fists to combat her.

"…Ah!" Sonic's eyes widened as he realized the woman that just launched herself toward him and summoned her hammer was Amy! "That's.." he was surprised at how fast she moved, and how agile she had become. She was so thin and light, it looked liked she'd be crushed at any moment, but she was just to quick to be caught, and her powerful hammer swings were precise and exact, hitting her foe away and slamming him into the rocky ancient arena's walls. They crumbled away as the Tiger forfeited, and Amy rose her hammer up to the crowds, basking a bit in their cheering, before bowing humbly toward the Armadillo, who nodded his approval, before looking up and showing her shock at seeing Sonic.

She powered herself upward with her hammer, flying through the air and spinning a bit before landing and moving her head right up in front of Sonic's, making him step back a bit uneasy. "Uhh..!"

"…Sonic…It's really you… isn't it?" she asked, as the Armadillo raised his eyebrow.

"Oh, Sonic!~" she sprang, arms out to embrace him before the Armadillo shot his staff in front of her, hitting her face and stopping her approach as she struggled to move over or under it. "B-bu-but M-m-mas-master!"

"What have I taught you about self-restraint? Did my teachings of these few years suddenly leave your trained body entirely from just one man's presence?" he seemed annoyed, as Amy stepped back, took a breath, and looked down sadly. Chibi tear drops on her eyes as she sniffed,

"I'm sorry, master."

"That's better. Now, you may introduce me to this young man." he withdrew his staff, and looked to Sonic.

"Ah! Sonic! This is my Master, Iron-Shield!" Amy happily introduced them, "He's been training me for the last few years… since you've been gone." she looked away, still having a smile, but Sonic could tell she hasn't really changed…

And it made him glad.

She may have been lonely these past few years, but she used her time wisely, and has blossomed into a very beautiful and fine young woman.

"Heh, it's great to meet you, sir." Sonic smiled and nodded to the man, before remembering to bow and did so. "Oh, right."

"Haha, you're observant. Thank you for minding our traditions." Iron-Shield bowed back, but only a little bit, as he was old and couldn't really dip himself much anymore. "Back in my youth, I could curl up and do a.. ah, what did you call it, deary?" he blinked to Amy.

"Spin attack." Amy happily stated, putting her hands behind her back, as the only thing she wanted to do was tackle Sonic to the ground and just squish her cheek against him, rubbing away her worries as she cuddled up beside him.

"Ah, yes. That." The man continued.

"Really? I always thought I was the only one to-" Sonic folded his arms, and before he could say another word, Amy couldn't take it any longer! She bounced onto him and cried out her joys and sorrows of seeing him and not seeing him for so long.

Her master sighed, "I should of known she wouldn't last too long." he tsked, shaking his head, "So much training… what a waste of time."

"Oh Sonic! You're back! I'm so glad! I want to hear all your adventures and talk about what's happened and why you never came back and- Oh! You're fluffier than usual, did you grow your hair out? Ohh! You're still so handsome, I missed you so much-Ah!" she was lifted up in the air by her master's staff, as he held her back and off of Sonic.

Sonic sweat dropped, but secretly was feeling a huge nostalgic feeling from that moment. Something he… didn't realize he missed so much.

"Calm down, sweet child. You'll give me a heart attack." Iron-Shield plopped her down with his staff and hit her head, scolding her as he looked to Sonic. "Now then, I do believe you two have some catching up to do. In that case, I'll bid you a adieu." he walked off then, having already trained Amy for the day, as Amy held her hands together, knowing she had to contain her excitement for her master's sake.

"Sorry! Old habits…. eh-heh." she scratched the back of her head.

"N-no problem. I used to be more prepared for that." Sonic got up, as they shared a little laugh together.

"Em…What… um… what brings you here?" Amy asked, hoping it was her.

"Well, what do you expect?" Sonic smiled, straightening himself out after dusting the dirt of the ground off of himself. "Is there another person here I've known all my life?" he teased.

She held in a high-pitch squeal of joy, but you could tell her mouth was wiggling, wanting to just jump on him again and cry happily again at being reunited with her love once more. Her eyes danced in pools of water she held back as she seemed completely moved by his words.

"Uhh… Amy?" Sonic sweat-dropped, seeing her holding back so much made him uncomfortable, knowing she could just loose it any second now.

"I…I really did miss you." she sniffed, holding back more tears, as she hiccuped, which left Sonic to flinch and hold back a blush.

'She's… she's still so cute!'

"I'm glad you're back. Eh-heh." she wiped her eyes, and gave him the biggest, brightest smile she could, which made him remember the good old days before… as he smiled kindly back to her. "Will you be leaving again anytime soon?" she asked.

"..Not without you." He grinned, "Tails is throwing me a 'welcome back' party. I'm here to escort you." he bowed, as if asking her to dance or something. "Would you consider this hedgehog's proposal?"

She finally squealed, and he felt his body vibrate down with the high screeching sound his poor ears had to just endure at a close range.

"YES! Oh, Sonic! Sonic, I would love too! Ahhh!" She held her ground, stepping up and down and holding her hands to her face, shaking herself in joy.

He realized the beautiful and strong woman on the battlefield was just Amy's serious side, and that she was still the same Amy he knew as a boy.

With that… he felt relieved, glad she hadn't changed too much, and that she wasn't too angry with him. She seemed to understand, or at least… was too happy to see him to really show her sadness at him being gone from her for so long…

"Amy…"

"Emm~" she chimed, leaning forward as her ear twitched, hoping for more good news.

"..I missed you too." he wanted to say something else, but felt it wasn't quite right. Not here… not now.

"Oh?" Amy turned, looking in his eyes as if she heard something else, before smiling warmly to him. "Em." she nodded, "Don't ever leave without saying something like goodbye again, Sonic The Hedgehog." she glared with a smile.

"…I didn't need to say Goodbye." Sonic folded his arms, and then got cheeky. "I wasn't leaving forever." he closed his eyes and gave her the best teasing grin he could.

She tackled him down again, rubbing her cheek against his as he squirmed in discomfort. "A-Amy!"

"Ohh~ You're still as cocky and cute as ever, Sonikku!"
