Heyy, it's been awhile! Unfortunately, I haven't kept up with any of my old fics the last few years, mostly due to just not having motivation to write something. In that time, I finished high school and moved to college, and those years were full of important self discovery, especially regarding my romantic interests and gender... :3
This fic is not exactly new; I planned out the story's direction and wrote a few chapters last summer and hoped to get back into fic writing then, but never got around to posting it here until now. I remembered about it recently, and I figured since it's pride month now would be a perfect time to finally share this. However, this story features some heavy topics including abuse and queerphobia, so if this bothers you then I would suggest against reading this story.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1
*slap*
"AAAAaaahhh!"
"SHUT UP" the mother screamed back at her child, before slapping it two more times.
*slap* *slap*
"Stop being delusional, Oliver!" the mother shouted.
"I'm not being delusional, mom! Why can't you let me be myself? Why can't you just let me be happy?" The child replied angrily.
"Because you're my son!" the mother took a short breath before continuing, "and I know this is just a phase you'll grow out of in a few months"
"How is this a phase? I've already told you I've wanted to do it for as long as I can remember!"
"You're fifteen years old, Oliver. And I know kids these days, so I guarantee that you can't remember any further back than this morning."
"That's not true! I've wanted to be a contest star since I was four years old!"
"STOP YELLING!" yelled the mother, "you realize that our secret base can only keep out so much noise? Keep it up and everyone in Fortree City will know just how stupid you are!" There was a knock at the door, followed by the door being opened by the father as he let himself into the room
"I'm not being stupid..." the child mumbled
The father was clearly very frustrated at both his wife and child. "What the hell is going on?"
"Our idiot son is showing an interest in contests, even though I've made it VERY clear that contests are only for girls and he will NEVER be a girl," the mom explained, before turning her head back to her child, "So you'd better get started training to pokemon battle, Oliver!"
"But there have been guys like Drew Hayden who were amazing contest stars!" The child replied, but the father had already taken enough.
"Use thunder wave!" He said as he sent out one of his signature pokemon, who then proceeded to use the move on the child, paralyzing it. The father then turned back to the mother. "I was just on the phone with our old boss, he needs us."
"What for? Its been twenty years since he last contacted us," the mother asked.
The father leaned forward and lowered his voice to a whisper. "He finally has a plan to acquire the target."
"What? How is this going to go any differently than last time?"
"I can't say, he'll tell us when we return to see him in person no later than tomorrow morning." The father explained, and the mother nodded in response. Both of them began to walk towards the door before remembering about their child, who was still paralyzed in the corner. "What should we do about him?"
The mother walked over and knelt before her child. She crooked her finger under the child's chin. "We make sure he follows our legacy." She reached into a nearby basket with all kinds of knick-knacks, books, and at the bottom, an electronic bracelet. She snapped it on her child. "Every night, this bracelet will paralyze you until morning, until you prove yourself and become a strong enough trainer to join the team."
The child could do nothing but listen to their mother, defenselessly. It was then grabbed by the arm and dragged out the door to the secret base by its mother and thrown to the ground.
"Don't come back until you have every freaking gym badge in Hoenn, then we'll talk!" The mother returned to the secret base's interior and slammed the door closed behind her.
Within a few minutes, a woman noticed the child lying paralyzed on the ground. She took out a cheri berry and shoved it down the child's mouth. The child quickly began to return to normal thanks to the berry's paralyze-healing properties.
"What happened to you?" The woman asked the now-healed child.
The child was still feeling dazed from the paralysis. It noticed a nearby flower bed, but couldn't quite make out the colors of the flowers.
"What's your name?" the woman asked next.
The child was beginning to come to. It could now tell details around it. There was a beautiful rainbow in the sky towards the south. There were several other people standing around from a distance, concerned for the child. The flower bed was also finally truly visible to the child. It contained three rows of pretty flowers; a row of blue, a row of pink, and another row of blue. In the center of the row of pink flowers was one lone white flower
The child smiled and looked back to the woman. "My name is Olivia."
Keeping things vague for now, but I hope the story is intriguing so far; things will be explained soon :)
Absolutely feel free to give me feedback and let me know if you're enjoying the story! I'll continue to post one chapter every week or so until they're all up, but if people are interested in reading more then I might continue writing additional chapters.
Until next time!
