"But maybe… you're not supposed to be the hero."
Sonic quickly turned in surprise to Amy, blinking his eyes and unfolding his arms.
She smiles, and turns back to him.
"Maybe you're just supposed to be Sonic. And maybe…" she shrugs, looking forward again, "I don't know, maybe something about being Sonic is naturally heroic. Naturally good. And always doing what he feels is right, from the very core of his being,.. that's who I think Sonic is."
Sonic stares and watches her, listening to her words as the wind rises slightly.
"Maybe… just maybe." she closes her eyes, and nods. "He doesn't give up that easily." She turned back to him, looking more serious now.
She put her hands up in fists, holding them close in front of her. "Don't let what they say bother you, Sonic! You had a good idea! I bet if you had some help, it could work too! This time, you're not going it alone! Please, Sonic? Let me help you! Together, there's no way your plan can fail!" She bends a little as she speaks, flinging her arm out and shaking her head, before possibly becoming self-conscious and standing up straighter again, seeing he's not responding, but is facing her, and seems to be listening and focusing on her intently.
She looks away, as if getting nervous, before smiling and not minding it. "No… I understand." She looks up, matching his gaze, and feeling a little red in her cheeks, but not showing it much.
She put her hands together and in front of her, before then swaying them to the back. "The real Sonic likes to take risks on his own, right? I get that. But…" she looked away a moment, before giggling and taking a step back, still having that pleasant smile on her face. "Just… promise you'll come back. Safely. And then I'll let you go."
He continued to watch her, a neutral smile on his face.
"…Heh, you're right." she bent her head and closed her eyes, "I'd probably be powerless to stop you anyway. But at least you heard me out. I can tell. You really thought about my words for a second there, didn't you? That's enough. As long as you know someone is rooting for you… always… always rooting for you… and hopes for your safe return!" she grew bubbly again, and brought her arms back up, bouncing a bit in her step to the side, shuffling a little on her feet.
"I'll be waiting! Sonic!"
He nodded, "Hmm… Amy?"
She blinked her eyes open, "H-huh?"
Sonic continued to stare a moment, tilting his head slightly, and his eyes held a moment before shifting over her expression.
He seemed to be really thinking about his word choices.
He then grinned and closed his eyes, "I won't let you down!" he gave her a thumbs up. "Don't wait up for me, Amy! I'll be back before you know it!" he turned around, winking to her.
"Em!" she bowed slightly, but in agreement. "Good luck! Sonic! I'll be here!" she waved, as he nodded once more, and took off.
After seeing the blue streak fade away, she walked a little further in his direction, and put her hands over her heart, seeming worried.
"I know you can do it.., Sonic. If you really put your mind to it, you can do anything." she whispered, then closed her eyes and motioned her hands in a prayer, "…Every time I feel the wind… I'll know you're still running."
Sonic ran with renewed strength, and found himself dipping his head to lengthen his stride, pick up his speed, as a more profound smirk came across his face.
"And that's why… I never need to fear."
His eyes narrowed in the wind's lashing on them, and the noise heightened at his increasing speed. He seemed to radiate with confidence now, bending a bit to curl his torso slightly and then suddenly vanishing in a blue line; off known sight.
"…Because the wind will never cease it's course."
