Chapter 6-A robbery
Five years later
Colt's P.O.V
Colt opened his eyes as the sun shined into his tent. He slowly pulled himself up as Arthur walked up to the tent. "Good morning, brother," Arthur says as he holds out a cup of coffee to his brother who takes it. The gang was still down in West Elizabeth but during the last five years they have taken in quite a lot of people. They had taken in the two Callander brothers, Mac and Davey, Orville Swansan, Leopold Strauss, Karen Jones, Mary-Beth Gaskill, Tilly Jackson, Simon Pearson, Sean MacGuire, Molly O'Shea, Bill Williamson, Javier Escuelle and Abigal Roberts. "So you said you might have a job."
"I think I do," Colt says as Arthur sits down. "In Valentine."
"Valentine, you and I have never been up that far, on account of your friends up there," Arthur says.
"I know, but this sounds like it could be a pretty good job, at least a hundred dollars for you, me and the camp."
"What is it?"
"Some rich guy just moved in with his wife and kids. Now, the wife is taking the kids Saint Denis today, we go to Valentine. We should get there before she gets back, we go in during the night, rob them and get out."
"What about the husband?" Arthur asks.
"We tie him up, someone will find him," Colt says. "This is a two person job, Arthur. We don't need anybody else."
"Alright, I'll talk to Dutch and we'll leave in about an hour," Arthur tells Colt who nods as he stands up. "We gotta talk on the way there."
Colt nods as Arthur walks away.
Dutch's P.O.V
Dutch looked at Arthur as he walked into the tent. "Colt tell you about that job?" Dutch asks Arthur who nods.
"We'll leave soon," Arthur tells him as he sits down. "You guys going to be here when we get back."
"Should be, if we move, just go to the post office in Blackwater," Dutch tells Arthur who nods. "You talk to him about the other thing?"
"I will on the way there," Arthur says. "It will give him some time to think about it."
Dutch nods. "Well good luck to you son. Be safe."
"We will be," Arthur says as he stands up and leaves the tent.
John's P.O.V
John Marston was brushing his horse when Hosea walked up to him. "You can't keep avoiding Abigal, son."
"I can," John says as he looks at the older man. "That kid isn't mine."
"There is a fifty percent chance that it is," Hosea says. "Why don't you and I go out, do some hunting, give Pearson something nice to make for the camp."
"Alright."
"We'll be gone a couple of days, so prepare yourself," Hosea says as he walks away from John who nods.
Colt's P.O.V
Colt and Arthur rode down the road. "So what did you want to talk to me about?"
"Abigal is pregnant," Arthur tells him.
"Okay," Colt says as he looks at his brother. "Why does that matter to me?"
"Because you and John are the only ones sleeping with her."
"I haven't slept with Abigal in months," Colt tells him.
"I saw her go into your tent a week ago."
"We talk," Colt tells him. "We're really good friends, Arthur, but I haven't slept with her in months, the kid is John's not mine," Colt tells him brother. "I still have to find my kids," Colt tells him.
"Alright," Arthur says. "You ready to be back in Valentine, to see your old friends."
"We are going there to do a job, not have beers with the Malloy," Colt says. "We'll be in and out, quickly," Colt tells Arthur who nods as they continue to ride forward.
Hosea's P.O.V
Two days later
Valentine
Colt and Arthur rode into town. "Where to?" Arthur asks.
"I'm going to the chruch," Colt says as he rides to the chruch and stops in front of it. He climbs off his horse and walks up to Buck's grave.
"This is the Buck who saved you?" Arthur asks as he looks at the grave.
"Yes it is," Colt says as he looks at the grave.
"He's the reason you were a bounty hunter?" Arthur asks Colt who nods.
"Buck is the reason I wanted to become a bounty hunter. Joing the gang, it wasn't easy, I was raised to fight with the law not against it."
"You didn't join us on a job for three months. Our way of life isn't for everybody, for a while I questioned if it was for you. You have something most outlaws don't Colt. You have morales. You don't kill anybody who doesn't need to be killed. You're the best of us, Colt. Don't lose that."
"Colt?" Colt and Arthur look at the entrance of the graveyard and see Malloy.
"I can't believe it," Malloy says as he walks up to Colt and hugs him.
"I'll give you two a minute," Arthur says as he walks away.
"Who is that?" Malloy asks.
"My brother," Colt answers. "It's good to see you, Malloy."
"What are you doing in town?" Malloy asks.
"Just riding through, we'll be gone by morning," Colt tells him. "Have you heard anything from Wyonna?"
"Not in a while, I saw her about two years after you left, she's doing good and so are the kids," Malloy tells Colt who nods.
"You tell her I looked?"
"I did, she told me she didn't want anything to do with you," Malloy says.
"I figured that much out already, Malloy," Colt tells him.
"It was good seeing you, Colt."
"You too, Malloy, but I have to go," Colt says as he pats the man's shoulder and walks away.
Malloy watches him. "I hope you know what you are doing, Colt."
"Let's get this job done," Colt says as he climbs on his horse and Arthur nods as he follows him.
Hosea's P.O.V
Hosea sat with John at a campfire. They were heading back to camp in the morning. "I don't know what to do, Hosea. If the kid is mine," John says.
"You be their father," Hosea says. "You will have all of us there to help you, John. You will not be alone, I promise you that. But if that child is yours, it is your responsibility to help Abigal raise him."
John slowly nods. "What kind of life is a kid going to have with us?"
"We will give the child a good life, our life isn't safe John but we are free and they will see that and they will have so many family members. I spoke with Abigal when we found out and she does wish to stay with the gang."
"Okay," John says and Hosea nods as they stare at the family.
Arthur's P.O.V
Arthur and Colt slowly creep up to the house, the moonlight shined on their masks as they slowly push the door to the house open. Arthur and Colt ascend the stares until they reach the master bedroom and see the man sleeping in bed. Colt removes his rope as Arthur stands up and walks towards the man. He aims his gun at him. "Time to wake up," Arthur says as he kicks the man's leg. The man opens his eyes and looks at Arthur before quickly standing up. "Woah, buddy, you listen to us and you don't have to die. Now I suggest you turn and face the wall while my friend here ties you up."
The man glares at them as he slowly turns towards the wall. Colt walks up to him and grabs his hand. The man then brings his head back and hits Colt in the face. He quickly turns and pushes Colt back into Arthur making the younger Morgan brother drop his gun as the man charges Colt and tackles him to the ground. Colt knees the man in the stomach and pushes him off as he pulls his knife out, turns and stabs the man in the chest. The man chokes on his blood as Colt removes his knife and the life leaves the man's eyes. Colt stands up and looks at Arthur. "You okay?"
"Yeah," Arthur says. "What a dumbass. Come on, let's get this done and get the hell out of town before somebody finds the body."
Colt nods as they start to search the house.
Two days later
Camp
Colt's P.O.V
Colt and Arthur ride into camp as Dutch comes out of the tent. "My boys are back, how did it go?" Dutch asks.
Colt pulls a stack of cash out of his scatchel and throws it to Dutch. "That's for the camp."
"Well done, Gentlemen," Dutch says as they climb off their horse and Dutch walks up to them. "Did you guys talk about the other thing?"
"We did," Colt says. "It's not mine, Dutch. I haven't slept with Abigal in months."
"Alright, I'll let John know, well done boys," Dutch says as he walks away and Arthur looks at Colt.
"You okay?" Arthur asks his brother.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Colt asks.
"You killed that man," Arthur says.
"He was trying to kill us, we gave him a chance to keep his life Arthur, he was an idiot and got himself killed, that is all there is to it," Colt tells him and Arthur nods. "I'm fine," Colt tells Arthur who nods as he walks away.
Malloy's P.O.V
Malloy sat in his office staring at the door. He watched as the door flew open and Wyonna walked in. "Please tell me it ain't true."
"I'm sorry," Malloy says. "I'm so sorry Wyonna."
Wyonna wipes the tears from her eyes as she sits down. "Do you know who did it?" Wyonna asks Malloy who stays silent. "What is it?"
"The day before Luke's murder. I saw Colt at the graveyard."
"Colt was Valentine?" Wyonna asks Malloy who nods. "Why?"
"I don't know, he was a man, his brother."
"You think they did this?" Wyonna asks.
"What was his brother's name?" Malloy asks.
"Arthur, Arthur Morgan."
"I heard rumors that Arthur Morgan runs with Dutch Van Der Linde. But Colt would never do that, he fights with the law, not against it."
"It's been five years, we don't know what he does anymore," Wyonna says. "You find out where they are Malloy."
"Wyonna, you don't want revenge, your kids need you."
"They'll be safer in a world without their father and his uncle," Wyonna says before she leaves and Malloy sighs as he leans back in his chair.
"Dammit, Colt."
Thanks for reading, next chapter will have a timeskip of six months before we pick back up with Wyonna. Sorry about not uploading last week, I was moving. As always suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed.
