Virtue and Venom: Chapter 44

Konoha, 3 days after the mission; Hokage tower: With Ino, Kakashi, Anko, Tsunade and Hiruzen

"Why can't I go see Naruto" Ino complained to Tsunade who was sitting behind her desk "he just got back and I can't even see him; let me help you trained me to be a medic".

"Ino…" Tsunade said trying to be careful with her words "Naruto is… he's in critical condition; he's not fit for visitors, I'll let you know when he is". Kakashi seeing Tsunade's body language knew something was off but kept it to himself.

"What about Sasuke or Mamushi" Ino asked and Tsunade sighed.

"Mamushi want to be left alone right now and Sasuke… well…" Tsunade said trying to explain it "it's complicated".

With Sasuke

Sasuke was in a training ground standing on the edge of a cliff with a scowl on his face and a bandage covering his empty eye socket. Sasuke was furious because Mikoto told him everything; how Itachi killed the clan in order to stop a rebellion and how Itachi did what was right for the village.

For Sasuke this meant that he killed his brother for nothing.

"No, no, I didn't fuck up" Sasuke said talking to himself "I was just manipulated to kill Itachi, but of course I was; no one would tell me the damn truth". "Who's really at fault here… Lord Third" Sasuke said "oh… the Uchiha clan is going to rebel against Konoha; well maybe they wouldn't have rebelled if you weren't such a pansy ass". Sasuke in a fit of rage created a chidori and began to break and destroy trees all around him to vent his anger

Back at the Hokage tower

"Sasuke is… a little upset with some of my past actions" Hiruzen said taking a puff from his pipe "not that I can blame him". Tsunade sighed and looked at Ino in an understanding way.

"Look Ino I understand your worry; don't forget that I lost Jiraya on this mission as well" Tsunade said and Ino felt guilty "but I have more important thing to worry about and one of this things is helping Naruto".

"Ok Lady Tsunade" Ino said as she began to walk out "just let me know when he's recovered"' Tsunade nodded and Ino left. Kakashi was left there alone with Tsunade, Anko and Hiruzen and Kakashi spoke up in a serious tone.

"What happened to Naruto" Kakashi said and Tsunade sighed.

"Kakashi; I already-" Tsunade began but Kakashi stopped her.

"Bullshit; you skirted around the damn question, tell me what happened" Kakashi shouted; Tsunade slammed her fist on the desk breaking it in half.

"I am your Hokage; don't you ever talk to me like that" Tsunade shouted but Kakashi didn't back off.

"I don't give a damn about what you think; I want to know what's wrong with Naruto" Kakashi said; Tsunade's temper was flaring but before she could say anything Anko spoke up.

"Just tell him" Anko said softly making everyone look at her "he might be able to help".

"She's right Tsunade" Hiruzen said trying to calm her down "Naruto needs all the help he can get"; Tsunade let out a sigh and sat back in her chair behind her broken desk.

"Fine, you want to know" Tsunade said as she rubbed her temples "I'm going to warn you; it's not pretty".

Konoha hospital; secret wing: With Naruto and Shizune

Naruto was lying on his side in his hospital bed staring at the wall; his usual bright and shining eyes were now a dull blue as he focused on the blank wall in front of him.

Shizune was looking over his charts and her heart felt heavy for the boy; when she heard about what happened to him from Tsunade and Mamushi she felt sick to her stomach. It broke her heart to see Naruto this way as he wasn't his usual boisterous and cheerful self; he looked empty and lifeless as he laid there in his bed.

"Naruto" Shizune said softly as she stood beside him "your test came back and umm… there's no signs of any STD's or infection". Naruto didn't respond as he just stayed still, Shizune looked and saw Naruto saline bag was almost empty; Naruto hasn't eaten, drank water or slept since he came back Konoha. Naruto hasn't even muttered a single word.

"Naruto, please say something" Shizune said as she kneeled down in front of him and looked him in the eyes; Shizune reached out and gently rubbed his cheek running her fingers along his whisker birth marks "please, talk to me, I'm a friend".

Naruto for the first time since he came back to Konoha moved; he grabbed Shizune's hand and gave it a small and gentle squeeze. Shizune saw this as a good sign as Naruto wanted her to comfort him; Shizune got up and sat on the bed still holding his hand.

Shizune then began to gently run her fingers through his hair "don't worry Naruto; I'm not going anywhere" she said trying to comfort Naruto. Naruto just held her hand and remained quiet as the room fell into a complete silence.

'Inoichi should be in soon; i hope he can help him' Shizune thought.

Uchiha compound: With Mamushi

Mamushi was trying to move around the house as best as she could using her cane and her back brace; when she and the others returned to Konoha, Tsunade began with her in order to to fix her back since her advanced healing was gone.

Tsunade was able to fix her back to where she can walk again but with a lot of difficulties; Mamushi's legs felt like jelly and her back hurt with every single step she took. As she walk into the kitchen she went to the fridge and opened it up.

She reached in and took out a pint of ice cream; Mamushi closed the door and reached into a drawer to grab a spoon. Mamushi began to walk slowly back to the table and sat down on a chair letting out a pained breath as she did so.

"This blows" Mamushi said as she opened her frozen treat and began to eat it; Mamushi wasn't even tasting the flavor as her mind was a million miles away. Mamushi began to reflect on everything that happened a few days ago; she replayed everything in her mind as she tried to find a way to see if she could've done something different.

What if she didn't bite that red haired girl, what if she didn't go on the mission, what if she woke up earlier; all these thought began to rush through her head as she ate.

'Why couldn't I do anything' Mamushi thought 'the old pervert got killed, Anko got hurt, Sasuke lost and eye and Naruto…' Mamushi stopped when she thought of Naruto. Mamushi may have closed her eyes but she still remembers Naruto's screams of protest as Habu forced herself on him; the sounds echoed in her head and no matter how hard she tried it didn't go away.

Mamushi got angry and threw her ice cream at the wall and began to breath heavily.

"Mamushi" Sasuke said as he walked in scaring her "are you ok".

Mamushi nodded "yeah, I'm fine" she said before looking at the exploded pint of ice cream "sorry about that I-".

"It's ok" Sasuke said as he picked it up "I'll clean it up"; Sasuke began to clean up the mess before he walked over to Mamushi. Sasuke gave her a kiss on the lips "is there anything you want to talk about".

Mamushi hesitated, she wanted to talk about what happened to Naruto but so far only her, Anko, Tsunade, Hiruzen and Shizune knew.

"Not right now" Mamushi said quietly "can you take me back to the room; I want to cuddle"; Sasuke smiled softly and nodded.

Sasuke picked up Mamushi bridal style as he carried her to the room to lay her down.

Later that night; Yamanaka compound: With Ino and Hikaruga

Ino and her mom were both in the kitchen cooking dinner for when Inoichi comes back from work; Ino has been trying to keep herself busy as to not worry about Naruto. Ino knew Naruto would pull through whatever injuries his sustained but she still worried about him.

Ino's mom looked at her and put a hand on her shoulder "Ino, honey, Naruto will be fine" she said trying to comfort her daughter "he's a strong boy; he doesn't need you to baby him".

"Geez mom; sorry for worrying about him" Ino said sarcastically "it's just… he lost Lord Jiraya and he's in critical condition; I know he's strong but-". Ino could finish her sentence as the front door opened up and several foot steps were heard; Ino looked out and saw Inoichi, Kakashi and Tsunade standing there.

Ino felt her heart drop at this and Inoichi stepped forward "Ino, we need to talk" Inoichi said.

"Oh god is Naruto…" Ino began but couldn't say it as she covered her mouth.

"He's alive but… just sit down" Inoichi said "you too Hikaruga"; both Ino and her mother sat down at a table and held each others hands. Tsunade stepped forward and looked at Ino.

"Ino, I hope you understand why I did this; but I want you to listen" Tsunade said in a somber voice "Naruto is in the secret wing of the Konoha hospital… but he's not in critical condition".

"Wait what" Ino said confused.

"I lied, his injuries were not significant; he only had a broken leg that we reset" Tsunade said; Hikaruga spoke up this time.

"So why all this secrecy and not letting Ino see him" Hikaruga asked and Tsunade took in a deep breath.

"As I told you before, Mamushi's alter ego is now physical; when she escaped she attacked everyone she made sure to hurt them as much a possible" Tsunade said "she took Sasuke's sharingan, broke Mamushi's body and… broke Naruto's spirit".

"Y-you mean by killing Lord Jiraya" Ino asked and Tsunade shook her head.

"Yes and no" Tsunade said before she took another deep breath "Habu… Mamushi's alter ego… paralyzed Naruto and…"; Tsunade paused before she dropped the truth. "Habu…raped Naruto while he was paralyzed" Tsunade said.

The room fell into complete silence as Hikaruga held her hand to her mouth and Ino began to feel nauseous and began to cry "w-what" Ino said not believing what she just heard.

Inoichi walked over and grabbed her hand giving it a gentle squeeze "sweetie… Naruto has been in shock for the past few days; he hasn't eaten, slept or drank anything" Inoichi said "we have him under twenty-four hour surveillance; just in case".

"Just in case what" Hikaruga said trying to keep her composure.

"In case he tries to harm himself" Kakashi said stepping up "me, Anko and Shizune are in alternating eight hour shifts; I'm actually going there after I'm done here".

"I want to come with you" Ino said.

"Ino…" Tsunade said but Ino interrupted.

"No I won't stay here" Ino said as she raised up the bracelet on her arm showing her scar from her suicide attempt "Naruto helped me through the darkest time of my life; he need me there now". Ino was in tears and breathing heavily and everyone could see she would not back down.

"Ok" Inoichi said "all I can say is keep your tone down and keep your distance; who knows how he'll react".

Konoha hospital: With Naruto and Anko

Anko was sitting on a bed beside Naruto's playing a video game on her game devise; Anko looked over at Naruto who hasn't moved since she got there and she frowned.

'Damn… not even a twitch' Anko thought 'well I guess telling those funny jokes earlier didn't help'; Anko then had an idea and smirked. 'Maybe' Anko thought "hey Naruto; I met a prostitute earlier today and she said she'd do anything for five hundred Ryo". "So now I got my living room repainted" Anko said with a smile.

Naruto didn't even chuckle and Anko sighed "damn… I thought it was a good one"; a few second later the door opened and Ino, Kakashi, Tsunade, Hikaruga and Inoichi walked in. "About time you got here" Anko said as she got up and walked over.

"How is he" Tsunade asked.

"As dead as that rat that ran across the floor earlier" Anko said as she pointed to a blood stain on the floor "by the way this place has rats".

"Ok Ino; go and talk to him, but be gentle" Inoichi said and Ino nodded as she walked over; and sat next to Naruto. Naruto for the first time moved his eyes and looked at Ino 'ok, this is a good sign'.

"Naruto, honey" Ino said softly "listen I… they told me… about what happened"; Ino reached out and put her hand on Naruto's shoulder. "I'm so sorry for what happened to you" Ino said as she began to rub his shoulder "and if there is anything I can do just-".

Ino didn't get to finish her sentence and in an instant Naruto reached out and grabbed her pulling her onto the bed; everyone was about to rush forward until Tsunade and Kakashi stopped them.

Naruto buried his face into Ino's breast and just began to cry uncontrollably; Ino wrapped her arms around him and began to stroke his back.

"I tried to fight her off, but I couldn't" Naruto sobbed out hoarsely "I tried Ino… I tried… I'm sorry, I'm so sorry Ino"; Naruto continued to cry as Ino held him close.

"You have nothing to be sorry about Naruto" Ino said as she held her sobbing boyfriend; Hikaruga walked up and saw beside them and began to rub Naruto's back as well.

Inoichi looked at the others and spoke "you should go" he said; Tsunade and Anko nodded but Kakashi shook his head.

"I'm good, I'm on duty" Kakashi said as he walked over to the bed Anko was just laying on and sat down 'I'm sorry sensei; I failed you'.

"Lets go Anko" Tsunade said and Anko nodded.

"See you at home Kakashi" Anko said as she exited the room with Tsunade leaving the Yamanaka's and Kakashi alone with Naruto.

Uchiha compound: With Mamushi

Mamushi got out of bed while Sasuke was still sleeping and was currently walking around the compound aimlessly; she wanted to get some exercise in order to rebuild her strength once again.

As she continued to walk she walked into an old training field and found a bench; Mamushi walked over and sat down resting her legs.

'I can walk a lot longer now' Mamushi thought as she looked up at the night sky; Mamushi was enjoying the peace and quiet until the sound of feet landed behind her.

Mamushi got up as fast as she could and turned around; Mamushi pressed a button on her cane and she pulled on the handle revealing it was a sword cane.

"Who the hell is there" Mamushi shouted as she pointed her sword to the darkness.

"How perceptive; your skills are still sharp even after all that you lost" came a voice; out of the darkness came Orochimaru, Kabuto revealing his new stump and Karin who was nursing a black eye "hello Mamushi".

"What the hell do you want" Mamushi said in anger "choose your words carefully; i can still kill one of you before i go down"; Orochimaru chuckled at this.

"I believe you could" Orochimaru said "but I'm not here to fight".

"They why are you here" Mamushi asked skeptically.

"I want to help heal you and train you" Orochimaru said making her eyes widen "Karin here can let you use her chakra to heal your back and Kabuto can do so as well; after that I'll teach you all that I know". "Now I'll be honest, this isn't from the goodness of my heart; this is completely selfish" Orochimaru said and Mamushi scowled "we have a common enemy who want us both dead; so if we combine out strength we can beat her".

"What do you say Mamushi… it's an offer you can't refuse" Orochimaru said with a smile; Mamushi looked at him for a moment and weighed her options. Mamushi then took in a deep breath and answered.

"NO" Mamushi said as she put up her can sword and began to slowly walk away leaving Orochimaru, Kabuto and Karin stunned.

"Wait…WHAT" Orochimaru shouted in surprise as Mamushi walked away "get back here and listen to reason".

"Fuck you" Mamushi said as she flipped him off.

Orochimaru was now fuming and Karin looked at Kabuto "Uhhh… what's plan B" she asked and Kabuto looked at her.

"There isn't one; either we get her help or we die sometime soon" Kabuto said.

"Damn that girl" Orochimaru said as he walked after her "follow me; we have to convince her". 'How stubborn can she be' Orochimaru thought as he chased after Mamushi.

Meanwhile in Ame: With Pein and Konan

Pein and Konan looked down on the ground as they looked at what was just brought in; the Jinchuriki of the two tails Yugito and the eight tails Bee were lying on the ground wrapped up by 2 large snakes. Both were unconscious and barely alive.

"If I may ask… why bring them to us" Pein asked Habu who was in front of them.

Habu was wearing a dark purple open top Kimono showing off her chest with black leggings, black sandals and had her hair done into a bun with 2 senbon keeping it together. On her back was the Kusanagi and several of Bee's swords.

"In all honesty, I'm looking for a group to join" Habu said with a smile "and I heard a lot about you; and all i had to do was follow the blood trails… and these two are my membership payments". "All I want is to make the people who tried to kill me suffer" Habu said and Konan spoke.

"And they would be" Konan said and Habu smiled.

"Number two is your old associate Orochimaru; I want to kill him later though, there is someone above him I need to kill first" Habu said and Konan cocked her eyebrow.

"And that would be" Konan inquired.

"A blonde bimbo by the name of Ino Yamanaka" Habu said in anger "that bitch ruined my first plan so she has to suffer". After getting her anger under control Habu spoke "so what do you say" she asked.

Pein looked at her with his rinnegan eyes and felt her power and malice 'she could be useful'; Pein took out a ring and threw it towards her. Habu caught it and smiled "welcome to the Akatsuki" Pein said.
