Jamie's pov
All the kids were at school, so they could not hear what was going on in our dining room right now, which was probably for the best. My Dad spoke
"Jamie, tell us everything. From the top."
I nodded, starting with how about 6 months ago, FBI Agent Lydia Gonsalves had approached me with the audio and asked for help. I sighed
"Then a few days ago my service weapon went missing, but I found it now. But that IA guy Bello went really hard on things I obviously already knew concerning a missing gun. And he had already been sketchy when I was interviewed by him about meeting up with Lydia in Chinatown, and she came and backed my story."
My Dad sighed
"So you lied to IA."
I replied
"I didn't know who to trust!"
He shook his head
"You should've come to me right away, son."
I nodded
"I know. Now Lydia is dead, but her sister gave me the files Lydia kept on her investigation with Joe. Then Malevsky comes up to me yesterday, drooling over Joe's Chevelle, very uncomfortable conversation. Then all of the sudden, my brakes had been cut!"
This made the family turn to me in concern
"Are you ok?!"
I sighed, involuntarily shivering at the memory
"I am now. But I almost ran some people over, and I had to crash the car into a column. Gonna have to fix it up all over again. But this was intentional."
As had been Malevsky mentioning on the tapped phone call that Lydia, a made mole had been 'Reaganed'. They gave killing an undercover our name, Joe's name. Dad had been none too pleased, just like the rest of us.
Danny spoke
"I'm gonna tail Malevsky, Jackie's gonna be tailing Camia."
In unison, Joe and I spoke
"What about me?!"
Dad spoke
"Jamie, you're too much on IA and Malevsky's radar. It's not safe. Just keep your head down and do your job."
Not happy with the situation, Jamie nevertheless obeyed. Joe, on the other hand, spoke up
"What about me? These clowns probably knew about Connor, but not me. So, I could be of use."
Shaking his head, Dad spoke
"One look at you, and they'll know. Please just hang tight til the final act. Connor needs his brother, I need my oldest grandson. Pop needs his great-grandson. Danny, Jamie and Erin need their nephew. Nicky, Sean and Jack need their cousin. You can join us at the end."
Somewhat placated, my nephew nodded
"As long as I'm there for act 3. Killers revealed and bloodbath."
Not able to help myself, I let out a soft chuckle at Joe once again referencing the meta-slasher-whodunnit staple of the Scream franchise.
Danny's pov
As I made my way up to the Manhattan North Precinct to bug Malevsky's car, I couldn't help but drool over his hemmi a little bit, gloved hand fitting the tracking device into the rearview mirror. Suddenly the alarm chirped, and out came Malevsky, that cocky, sleazy smirk on his face
"Don't drool on it, Reagan."
Keeping my cool, I replied
"Hard not to."
He nodded
"Are you getting one yourself?"
I shook my head
"Wife and two kids, every check is spoken for."
He nodded
"I see. What are you doing here anyway, away from the nosebleeds on Queens?"
Quick on my feet, I replied
"Working a case with Sisowitz"
My brother's former partner nodded, seemingly accepting my answer before speaking
"Sisowitz isn't in today, Reagan."
Still keeping a cool head, I nodded
"Yeah, but he said he left the files on the desk. Speaking of, excuse me"
And with that, we went our separate ways, and I started tailing him after briefing everyone in the inner circle. That had been pretty close.
Jackie's pov
I was tailing Camia and keeping everyone in the loop. By now, Camia had switched out his tour car for his personal one. I was staying a few cars away, as to stay unnoticed by Camia. Suddenly, this persistent car behind me started giving me trouble, and, though I could not place the person in the driver's seat, there was always the possibility of it being a Templar member. I managed to see Camia and his family at the airport before the car behind me hit me head on, my airbag deploying. I managed to get out before there was too much damage to me, and took a bit of time to realize my phone was ringing. I answered, and Danny spoke, frustrated and worried, and relieved all at once, in the way only Danny Reagan could
"Jack! I've been trying to reach you! Are you ok?"
I spoke
"Danny, stop talking for a second. This car behind me, has to be one of them. I'm fine, but the car isn't. Scrapes and bruises, I'll be fine. Camia took his wife and kids to the JFK airport with enough luggage to go on a Bon Jovi tour. Couldn't hear where they're going, but he said that he would join them soon. It's a Jet Blue flight..."
His demeanor calmed, now only worried for me
"Ok, good work, partner. Now you take care of yourself, get back here."
And that's what I did.
Danny's pov
I gave the rest of the family the update, and Joe banged an angry fist on the table, startling us a little. His voice dark, he spoke
"We know the big players, we know where they are. Why aren't we moving in? Or at least me?! He's MY father!"
Pop spoke up
"Which is why, should he find out, it would be a badge of honor to take you out too. You know this, Joe."
He sighed, knowing Pop was right, not that he had to like it. Getting another ping from Malevsky, I left to tail him, calling the house not much later
"Dad, he and the rest of the Templar members are in this rat-hole pub, coming in heavy. They've got gys. And we're gonna need guys. Guys that will actually back us up. You got guys?"
I could tell he was nodding through the phone
"I've got guys. We're all coming to meet you. Wait for us, Danny. Don't do anything until we get there."
I sighed
"Yes, Sir."
Soon, the reign of the Templar would be over. Soon we would get justice for Joe.
