-Amity-
Blight estate /Friday January 20th 23:00 hrs
It had been a while since she stopped running. After she left the manor she wanted to keep running until her feet bled, where to? It didn't matter to her. Maybe she could try to run to her siblings' college, anywhere would be fine as long as she was far away from that party.
Far away from that woman.
The fancy dress constricted her movements, it was so tight that it made breathing difficult, especially since she was sobbing uncontrollably. She considered just tearing it down to gain more maneuverability, but she didn't think that running around naked was the best idea.
The shoes made her clumsy. She wasn't wearing high heels but the ones she had right now were made for fashion, not for comfort. She decided to screw it and took them off, choosing to remain barefoot.
Her tears clouded her vision, the tree branches her arm as she passed them, the stones in the ground hurt her bare feet, the cold air of the night made her shudder, but she didn't dare to stop
At one point she tired herself so she had to lean against a tree to catch her breath, that's when the adrenaline wore off and she started to consider that maybe, just maybe, attempting to walk to another state barefoot with only a party dress wasn't the best idea. But where could she go? It was the middle of the night and she had no one, at least no one that could hide her from Odalia.
She looked around and realized that she was in the deep end of her family's state near the gate. Usually the trees were spaced out to make the gardens look pretty, but her parents did not care about vegetation this far away from the manor so the place had become something akin to an untamed forest with the years of abandonment. Amity couldn't decide what to do for now, so she thought that it was best to lay low and wait for the party to end and then come back in the morning, she would think of something by then.
"I really should've brought a blanket when I ran away, I'm going to catch a cold if I stay out here" She sneezed and clung to a tree in an attempt to preserve more heat. She saw that it had low branches she could use to climb, so she decided to do it. It was hard at first, she hadn't done this since she was a little kid, but her athleticism classed paid up, she was able to climb to the taller branches and found a spot where she could safely sit without falling "At least I'll be better than the ground"
She spent some time there, alone with her thoughts. She might have drifted off at some point, but she woke up when she heard voices.
"... And I keep telling you dear, it was not necessary for you to come" Upon hearing Odalia she wrapped her legs against her chest to make her shape less noticeable "You should've gone to bed, tomorrow we have an important-"
"It's not as important as this, Odalia!" Har father roared "My daughter is missing, she is out there alone, in the middle of the woods, on a winter night. We should have ran to get her but you insisted on waiting until every guest left! It's been hours! Who knows where she went?"
"Don't worry, I'll find her" She could hear the scowl in her mother's face "There is no place for her to go around here"
By the sounds of it they were getting closer, she held her breath to avoid being noticed. She still couldn't see them from where she was, but it was likely that they could see her tree and she could see flashes from flashlights.
"You still haven't answered my question, why did you out her in front of everybody? We weren't informed of that and she was clearly uncomfortable with it"
"Do you really want to know? You've told me before that you didn't want to know about my political moves. I remember you calling them 'unnecessarily confusing' one time"
She could see them now, they were directly below her tree but they weren't looking upwards. They were engaged in a fierce stare competition, which was a major achievement for her father, the man could barely look someone in the eyes. After a while Odalia relented.
"Fine. If you wish to know the truth is that Grant was really struggling to gain young voters with his whole 'I hate gays' deal. We warned him about it but the man was adamant that the majority of voters thought like him, you should've seen his look of surprise when he realized that it wasn't the case" she shook her head "Turns out that even the people who are neutral on that stance tend to get annoyed when all a politician does is ramble about things he hates"
"This doesn't explain…"
"I was getting to that" She held a hand to cut him off "He asked me for a way to wash his image and I suggested to just hire some actors or pay real gay kids to come to one of his rallies, but it could be tricky if people found out about that. On top of that there was the deal with the magical creatures and he absolutely had no idea how to deal with it. He was so desperate for a solution that I had to make a move, and it worked! He signed a contract that allows me to move as mayor in the next term if I manage to deal with those two problems. Just imagine it! I won't be just some high secretary, I will be the one calling the shots!" She announced excitedly.
"And that's why you exposed our daughter to the public?" Alador spoke out.
Amity was in shambles, she was having a hard time breathing. All of this was just for some political favors? Did she not care about her at all? Were all of those kind words that she told her these past few months just to lower her guard?
"The pros of that decision outweigh the cons by far, my dear" Odalia simply stated while looking around "Besides, isn't the whole point of gay pride to not be afraid to show who you are? If she is serious about her sexuality she should be able to express herself in front of that crowd just fine. She showed weakness today and she needs to learn not to, otherwise people might take advantage of her in the future"
Amity wanted to throw up.
"This is too much, even for you…" Alador said with a blank stare, then he proceeded to walk around "Amity! Are you there?!"
She felt a knot in her throat, she couldn't speak.
Alador advanced towards the forest in search of her but Odalia didn't move. She sighed and just stood in the ground looking at the direction of the forest, then she looked at something in the ground.
"That's why I'm here! Can't believe the girl was so reckless to drop it" She said with her teeth clenched "Well, there's no point in trying anymore…"
That got her curiosity interested. She exposed herself from her hiding spot to risk a peek. Odalia was standing a few trees away from her, in her feet a small object that emitted a purple glow when she pointed her flashlight at it, she recognized it as her necklace.
"It must have fallen when I climbed the tree…" She clutched a hand over her neck "Grandpa…"
She didn't have many memories of Odalia's father, the man passed away when she was very little, but he had always been kind and nice towards her. The little bit that she remembered was him taking care of her and taking Amity to the library because she asked him to. When he died he had left her a necklace with a purple gem on it, and she always put it on to honor his memory.
However there was something else that caught her attention while she looked at it. When Odalia put her flashlight in her mouth to pick it up she noticed that the gem was cracked and opened, at first she was destroyed by seeing that, but then she noticed something else. It was too far away to distinguish it correctly, but she could see that the inside of the gem was dark unlike its purple exterior, not what she was expecting to see. Then her mother pulled her phone with her other hand and looked at the screen, Amity could see that it was showing a map of the area, and a red dot near the center.
*sigh* "It's broken" Odalia said after she put the necklace down.
A thousand thoughts ran through Amity's head and none of them were good. She did not know what to do next, but she did know one thing for sure: She needed to go away
She wasn't safe in her house anymore.
-Luz-
A cafe in western Gravesfield / Saturday January 21st, 10:30 hrs
"No Gus, I don't think it's a great idea" She tried to tell her friend.
"Why not? You are looking for good rep, aren't you? Then what's better than this!" He exclaimed happily while extending his hands.
Her friend had called her early on a saturday morning to tell her about something important. Usually she wouldn't pay attention to anything at this time but he really insisted on it, and he was kinda right. Turns out that mayor grant had made her the scapegoat for all the magical incidents (she still didn't understand that word, what has a goat to do with assigning blame?) and said that it was all her fault. The opinions of the people were mixed on that subject, but he had several loud followers that agreed with him.
He had called her with a solution for that problem and asked to meet with her in a cafe to discuss it. Luz agreed to that and they met here to have breakfast. At first she was optimistic about this prospect but then her hopes were crushed when she heard his plans.
"Gus, I'm not going to do a 'meet and greet' in the school!" She replied angrily.
"Why not? It's the perfect solution! The mayor's office is doing a public campaign against you, so you need to let the people of gravesfield meet you and discover how harmless you are!"
"It's too risky" she said.
"You don't even need to show your identity, you could just keep an illusion over you!" he insisted
"It's not that. What happens when those teens start filming me? What if the government or one of the coven witches shows up? It'll be a disaster! The people will blame me if a fight happens!" She had seen some comments about her and they were not nice.
Gus shrugged "They were doing that anyway, but suit yourself" and luckily dropped the conversation.
She breathed a sigh of relief and tried to focus on her food. Usually a good croissant and a talk with a friend manage to cheer her up, but her mind was swirling with thoughts of the witch that appeared through a portal. Luz still remembered how shocked she was when she saw her transform from a chimera to a person, and especially what happened afterwards:
Luz kneeled in front of the girl, putting a hand on her wrist to check her pulse. It was stable but she wasn't showing any signs of waking up. Then she scanned her whole body using a mix of oracle and healing magic, but she didn't find anything besides the bruises that she gave her in their previous fight, there were also some traces of magic but she couldn't identify what it was, only some bits of beast-keeping. She didn't even have time to process what was going on, the years of medical training that her mom had drilled in her head kicked in and she started tending to her wounds in autopilot.
"You are going to be ok, I'm going to take you away from here…" She said in a soothing manner.
"That is not your choice to make, lass" A voice with a familiar accent spoke behind her.
She turned around and saw Marcus behind her just casually strolling in the rooftop they were in, behind him and all around her were at least a hundred agents with their guns aimed at her. She could also see several others in adjacent buildings aiming strange cannons towards her from rooftops and windows.
"What's all this?!" She asked, outraged.
"That's exactly what we'd like to know" Said a feminine voice. The crowd of suits cleared the way and allowed a person to move forward; They were tall, lean, and had a white cowl over their suit, which prevented Luz from seeing their face "Where's the chimera? And who's that witch?" Her voice carried a command that stunned her
"Uhhm, well I don't know her personally and- wait! Why am I being questioned here? You guys are the ones pointing guns at me!" She said while pointing an accusing finger at them.
She noticed that most of the agents flinched when she did that, it seemed that they were afraid of her.
Marcus started examining the crash site "Just a safety measure, we were expecting to meet a monster up 'ere after all, 'sides it's not like they pose a serious threat to you" He commented nonchalantly "Although this is rather unusual, so we need to know. Now, could you please answer the nice lady's questions?"
"She doesn't need to" the woman spoke "The size of the crater the witch is in is enough evidence. She transformed into that, didn't she?"
Luz clenched her teeth and refused to answer.
"I see" that was all the confirmation they needed "Did you ask her to do that?"
Her question almost made her drop her staff.
"What the- why would I!? Didn't you see me stop that thing? If it wasn't for me the Chimera would've wrecked this whole place!"
"Yes. If it wasn't because of you and your… heroic acts, all of us mere humans would have been doomed if it wasn't for you, is that what you want? Admiration?"
"What the …fuck, are you talking about?" Cursing did not come natural towards her, but it seemed appropriate this time "Do you think that I staged this?"
"Can't deny that's a possibility, especially considering the last turn of events" Marcus spoke up while he looked at the horizon "The common folk in this town and the youngsters in the internet love you, but everyone else hates you. If it wasn't because of your good reputation politicians would have forced us to declare war on you sooner"
"Wait, is that what this is? Are you declaring war on me?" She asked.
"Not yet" the woman grunted
"We are gauging if it would be a wise choice to do so. Being a vigilante heroine is one thing, but if you are opening portals to bring in more than your kind…" She interrupted him before he could finish that sentence.
"I'M NOT!" The fury and outrage she felt was unmeasurable. She was kind of used to being blamed for things she didn't do, but this went beyond anything Belos cronies ever did to her. She was being treated like a criminal for just existing, even if she was doing the exact opposite.
"I don't have any clue on how to open portals, if I did I would've left already! I don't know how this one appeared, but it has nothing to do with me!"
The agents aiming their guns at her shifted nervously upon seeing her rage, she already had a shield spell prepared just in case.
It looked like the woman wanted to say something, but Marcus raised his hand to stop her.
"Let's say we believe that. We have someone there who might be able to answer all of our questions" He motioned towards the other witch.
"Uhh, no. She is in no condition to speak. I might have hit her too hard" In her defense she did not know she was a person.
"We can see that" the woman said and walked towards her "and how convenient is it that the only witness is unconscious?"
Before she could retort Magnus stepped in between the two of them
"Ladies, ladies, can we please get along?" He turned to face his colleague "Let's just give her the benefit of the doubt for now, merely on the base that neither our superiors nor I wish to fight her" Then he turned towards her "As for you, we'll let you go for now, but we'll take the witch"
"What? Why?"
"Three reasons. One: Our facilities are well equipped with the latest technology, we can help her recover. Two: She is our only source about what's been happening in the boiling isles, we need to interrogate her. And three: Because I fucking said so" She was about to retort but he beat her to it "So far we have tolerated your actions because it would be inconvenient to fight you, but there's a limit to our mercy"
"Mercy? I thought that you let me go because you knew that you can't beat me" Luz said mockingly.
"No" His tone told her he was dead serious "It would be simply easier if all of us would be friends and cooperate with each other. The only reason why you managed to elude us so far is because we determined that the other witches and the monsters were the bigger threat. The only reason we haven't been captured yet is because we didn't even try to. So be a good girl and step aside"
"Why should I?" She tightened the grip of her staff and put a hand over the other witch protectively "Why should I bother to deal with you people when I could just take her and leave?"
The woman made a move towards her, but Marcus stopped her with a gesture of his hand.
"Because it doesn't benefit you. Sure, we could have a massive epic battle in the middle of the city but then several, including citizens, could get hurt. That's not your style, isn't it? You care about the people that are hurt by your actions"
Luz grunted. He was clearly using the information that he got from their last talk.
"Not to mention that your dear friend over there might get hurt in the altercation too, those cannons that we are aiming at you are not the best for precision, you know?" He got closer to her "And let's say it's the best of cases and you manage to run away without any major incident, then what? Ye know that the media and the politicians are going to blame you for any fighting that occurs here, it won't look pretty for you"
"Are you seriously threatening to hurt the people you are trying to protect and all of us just to win an argument?" She stomped in the ground, refusing to believe this man.
"Not a threat sweetheart, a prediction" He smiled "I'm really good at seeing what happens next based on what happened before. I have no interest on harming either of you or any civilian by the way, but there are times when things like those are inevitable"
"You are not the only one who wants to talk with her" She snarled "I also want to hear what she has to say about my home"
"You'd be more than welcome to come with us and wait until she recovers at our facility" The woman said "We have questions for you too"
She thought about what she could do in this situation. As much as she hated it, she had to admit that Marcus was right: There was no way she could escape this without a fight, those cannons would-
Wait a minute, those cannons.
How did they set them up so quickly?
When she was fighting the chimera she saw the cannons and turrets firing at it, the same one that were used against the dragon. But that had been a couple of streets away.
When Luz defeated the monster it fell far away from the place where the portal had opened, there's no way they could've moved that heavy machinery so quickly even if they predicted where it would fall.
She looked at the agents stationed in the nearby buildings and in the street. At first glance she couldn't detect anything out of the ordinary but then she realized that there was something off about them, they repeated the same movements over and over again: One was stuck loading the weapon, the other looking at his phone, and a fellow in the street was looking from left to right constantly. It was a really abnormal behavior, something that reminded her of the buggy games Gus had shown her.
"They aren't real, are they?"
"I beg your pardon?" The woman asked.
"All of that" She motioned to the people in suits "It's just an illusion"
She could see that she was surprised by that. Marcus, on the other hand, clapped.
"Hah! What did I tell you, the holo-barrier won't work on her, especially the low budget one"
Luz realized what was happening. All of the agents on the streets and buildings weren't really there, even some of the ones behind them could be a part of the illusion. They didn't care about making a deal with her, they were just buying time for their partners to get in position. She was preparing to fly away as fast as she could when a thought hit her, what was she going to do with the transformed witch? Was she going to take her to the owl house? What if Lilith found her? And what if she transformed again and hurt someone? Whatever was happening to her was clearly magical, but she had no way of fixing it or helping her. Could these guys do it? She didn't know, but she knew that they did know a lot about magic.
With a sigh, she stepped away from the witch.
"Give me your phone number" She said.
It seemed that no one there was expecting her choice of words. Even Marcus looked stunned to hear that.
"What?"
"I asked for your number. You are right, I do not want to fight you and I know that you people might be more prepared to help her, but that doesn't mean I'm going to hand her over or take the risk of going to your place. You give me your number and we'll stay in touch. I expect to be given news of her recovery and what you find about what's happening in the boiling isles" She said.
For a while everything was silent, but then the old man started laughing.
"Just like that, eh?" He slapped his knee.
"What makes you think you are in a position to make those demands?" The woman inquired.
"Because you people do not want to fight me" Luz said "I am not going to give one of my kind to you just like that, I need to have some sort of insurance"
"Fine by me" Marcus said while grabbing a pen from his coat
"Are you sure?"
"It's the best possible option, and we have a way to communicate with our new friend now" He turned to face his troops "Oi! One of ye shitheads bring me some paper, right now!" One of the agents moved and handed him a small notebook. He wrote something on it and extended it towards Luz "Alright, 'ere you go lass"
Luz walked forward and grabbed the note. She was really close to him, by far the closest she had been to any of them. She could see that the people in the back were jittery, even the woman closeby had her hand hovering over her gun holster, but the man in front of her didn't show any sign of fear. If anything, she'd say that the guy was entertained by this whole situation.
She quickly grabbed the note and walked towards the edge of the roof. Before jumping, she took one more look back at them.
"I don't want to fight you, but I will if you hurt her"
"Don't worry, we know"
It had been a week since then and she hadn't gotten many updates. Sometimes she would text (without using her own phone, Gus had gotten her something called a 'burner') and they would tell her that the witch's condition was stable, but she still hadn't recovered consciousness. Sometimes Luz wondered if she had made the right decision by trusting them, but she did not have many alternatives.
"...so I cast magic missile at the wraith but the barbarian isn't paying attention so, hey are you listening?" Gus' gamer rant brought her back to reality.
"Huh? Yeah" She tried to pretend, keyword tried.
"Listen, I know that you are going through some stuff but if you find this uninteresting just tell me. These days I feel like we barely talk! I bet that if I mentioned Amity you would turn around and give her attention immediately"
"Oh no, Gus! It's not that. I was just thinking about what I told you guys the other day and-Amity!" She screamed.
"See? There you go, it's all Amity this Amity that. When is it going to be Gus time, huh?" He asked with an annoyed glare.
"No, Gus. It's really Amity!" She shook him and pointed behind him.
"Yeah what about i- ohhh. She doesn't look good" He commented when he saw her.
The brunette was walking across the street. There shouldn't have been anything noteworthy about it but the Blight was in an awful state: Her clothes consisted of a really torn dress hidden beneath a large grey coat, her hair wasn't tied up properly, she had bags under her eyes, and her expression reminded her of a zombie. She was shuffling down the street, not looking at anything in particular.
"Oh my gosh, do you think she's ok?" Gus asked.
Luz didn't waste time talking, she slammed some money on the table to pay for their food and ran towards Amity. She had to dodge some people and she almost got hit by a car that was definitely not watching the road, but she got there. When she jumped in front of her view Amity almost jumped away in surprise.
"Luz! I- eh- what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Amity, are you ok? I'm sorry to say it like this, but you look kinda awful"
"I- It's fine" She made a weird smile "I was just trying to-"
"Luz you need to pay attention when you cross the street, you can't just rush in like that!" Gus had caught up to them at this point
"Oh, sorry Gus"
In that instant the boy took some sudden interest in Amity for some reason.
"Hi! My name is Gus, can I ask you some questions about your family's gala last night? It's for the school paper" He grabbed a pencil and paper from god knows where and stared at her.
"I-" Amity seemed to be uncomfortable.
"Gus, I don't think she is in the mood right now" As a matter of fact she was looking really pale, or well, pale-er.
"Aww, come on Luz! When am I ever going to get this chance? She doesn't know I exist! There's no way I can approach her in school. Oh! Speaking of which, what can you say about the rumors of you being a lesbian?"
That seemed to be like a trigger word for her. Her eyes flared, her breath stopped, and her jaw just dropped.
"WHAT?" She lunged at him and grabbed his collar "Who told you that?"
"You are hurting me…" Gus was so tall that she was almost lifting him from the ground.
"Amity, are you okay?"
"WHO?!" She ignored her.
"S-S-Skara and her friends! They have been tagging you on twitter, look!" He held his phone in front of her face and she snatched it from his hands, dropping him in the process "Ow…"
"Amity! What's going on?"
The girl didn't listen to her, she seemed to be absorbed looking at the phone. She peeked behind her back to see several posts of Skara saying how proud she was for her friend to come out. All of them ending in #Ally.
"No…" She was shaking from head to toe. Her grip loosened and she dropped Gus' phone, if she didn't catch it it would've hit the floor.
"Hey!" Gus recovered his phone from her hand "What gives?"
Amity had to lean on the wall for support, she was hyperventilating and her eyes were unfocused.
"Gus, give her some space" She ordered him and went by her side "Amity, listen to me, you have to breathe, ok?"
"They know… They know"
"Shh, it's ok. Don't worry about that now" She said in a soothing voice and started hugging her "Just focus on breathing, ok? Can you do that for me?"
Amity nodded and started breathing more regularly. She melted into the hug and clung to her arm. After a few more seconds she buried her head in her jacket and started sobbing uncontrollably.
"Gus, I think that interview will need to wait"
-Lilith-
The Owl house / Twenty minutes later
Lilith typed frantically her latest email in her computer, having left her office for a month surely accumulated tons of paperwork. Some of it was important, like the disciplinary actions she was entrusted to carry on, but most of it was bureaucratic nonsense that she couldn't care less about. It was good to be back in the office but she did not miss the office work.
As she went through the documents a guilty thought assaulted her: She was happy that the magical attacks resumed.
It was awful to think something like that, after all their goal was to ensure they never happened again, but she couldn't help it. Ever since Marcus made her temporarily leave she had been counting the days until a new accident happened. She knew that the witch was going to come back, but she was actually itching for a fight and that felt wrong.
"I am glad that Marcus chose to call me as soon as something happened, but I still don't know if letting the witch go is the best solution" She recalled the encounter they had with her on a rooftop a week ago "Gaining information he says, as if we couldn't have done that by capturing her!"
Her thoughts stopped when someone bursted through the door. Even when she was a few rooms away she could still hear the huge *slam* sound.
"Eda!" Luz's voice called.
"She's not home!" She said and got up. Her niece's tone sounded serious so she decided to investigate.
"Lilith! Thank god you are here" The teenage girl rushed to meet her in the hallway "We uhm, have a situation…"
Feeling more intrigued than ever, she stepped towards the entrance. At this point she was expecting the worst: Edalyn got arrested, there was a magical creature in the house, someone from the government was here to deport Luz, they got into trouble with someone, or maybe one of her sister's exes found her address. She wasn't expecting the youngest blight sitting on their living room with a deplorable aspect: Her clothes were torn, her eyes were red, and her expression was incredibly sad. She immediately rushed towards her and hugged her.
"Amity! Dear, are you alright?" She checked for injuries thinking of every single bad scenario that could've happened to her.
"It's a long story" Luz said.
"I'm fine!" Amity grumbled "I just need… a little bit of time. Luz said that I could stay here for a while, can I use the shower? I… can't use mine"
"Oh, sure! What happened at your home? Did the shower have a malfunction? Are your parents aware that you are here?" She asked.
Amity winced "I just want to take a shower and rest, I'm not in the mood for talking"
"Do you want me to explain it to her?" Luz offered.
"Yes please. I… I don't think I have the energy to say it right now" With that, she excused herself to the bathroom.
As soon as she left the room Lilith turned to Luz "What was that?" She asked.
"You better sit down for this" Luz took a long breath and started explaining.
The story was quite sad, as she kept hearing it her frown got deeper and deeper. Odalia always struck her as an overly controlling parent, but this was borderline abusive. Using your child for your political schemes was something really low, and the fact that social media was already exposing her like that made it worse.
"...and after waiting for the morning in that tree she went to her room to grab some of her things and a bit of money. She was just planning to eat something out and stay at a hotel, but I convinced her to stay here" Luz finished telling the story.
"You did good, I can't imagine her staying in a cheap hotel would end well"
"Yeah. Although I don't think Eda would appreciate having another person here, especially since I invited Amity without asking her first" Luz said sheepishly.
"I can help with that. My agency has a lot of places around town, I was offered an apartment before coming but I rejected the offer in favor of staying here. I can call them to see if they have a place available" She grabbed her phone but froze before she started typing. What was she thinking? She couldn't just use a company asset like that, not to mention harboring a minor when she wasn't even her legal tutor was really bad legally speaking, no matter the issue with her parents "Wait a minute, does Odalia know that she is here?"
"Not likely. When I asked Amity she scoffed and said that her mother probably thought that she still was on their estate"
"That could be a problem, do you think that they can come looking for her? I don't think that they would sue me for kidnapping them but I don't want to risk it"
"I don't think so. Probably they will start worrying if the day goes by without receiving any news from her, but so far we are good. Also there's this" She pulled a necklace from her pocket. It consisted of a black band made of cloth and a purple gem on it, Lilith could see that it was broken, but oddly enough the inside of the gem had a lot of mechanical parts.
"What is this?" She asked as Luz gave it to her.
"This was Amity's necklace, Odalia hid a tracker in there" Luz looked really annoyed when she said that part "It broke when she was running away. That's how she managed to sneak away"
She looked at the device. Her time working for the government gave her enough experience to realize that Luz was telling the truth. And unspeakable anger started boiling inside of her when she realized that Amity had this necklace since she was five and she always carried it around, was Odalia monitoring her all the time? Talk about a violation of privacy!
"She said that's why she didn't go to the library to hide. If her mom had the tracker on at all times then she'd know that's a place she frequents"
Lilith clutched the necklace so hard that the latch broke. She was going to help that girl, legal repercussions be damned.
For those of you asking me why didn't Odalia just track Amity's phone or have her watched by bodyguards, she did those things as well but she wanted to be extra sure, she's the epitome of a helicopter parent. Also I do not know how trackers work that well,I just wanted to make a cool comparison with the gem necklace in the series.
I want to be clear about something: Odalia does not have bad intentions. Of course I'm not saying that what she did is fine or justified, it's still fucked up, but you do not need to have bad intentions in order to do bad actions. She knows how hard it is out there and if you show emotions or weakness people will pray on you, that's an unfortunate truth. Also she cares about the economic well being of her family because she knows that money is important, she just refuses to see that she is hurting them, it's the typical view of "If your physical needs are fulfilled then you are ok".
Also I hope I didn't make Gus too bad on the last part. I based it on the way he was behaving when Willow lost her memories.
