Teddy lay back on the exam table as the tech ran the wand over her bump. She watched the screen intently as measurements and images were taken to send to the radiologist and her OB. She gasped as the tech scanned the baby's genitalia.

"What," Henry asked, "is everything okay?"

"It's a girl," Teddy smiled, "she's a little girl."

"A girl," Henry's eyes grew wider.

"See there," Teddy pointed, "she's a girl."

"Wow," Henry smiled, giving Teddy a gentle kiss.

"She's perfect," Teddy stared at the screen mesmerised.

"Our daughter," Henry smiled.

"A daughter," Teddy smiled, "we have to tell your sister."

"I'll send her the pictures later," Henry agreed, "and you're telling everyone?"

"Arizona wants to know," Teddy replied.

"Have you thought about how much longer you'll work," Henry asked.

"I want to get past 36 weeks if I can," Teddy replied, "I need to work as long as I can so I have more time with her after."

They made their way to the OB appointment before Henry had to go to work.

"Only a few more weeks of this," Teddy sighed.

"You're working for four more months," Henry said.

"You're starting school," Teddy said.

"Two night classes," Henry said, "developmental psychology and abnormal behaviour."

"You're sure about clinical counselling," Teddy asked, "we can make med school work."

"I am," Henry replied, "I can do what I want with helping families with genetic conditions. I might still pivot to social work."

"You choose," Teddy replied.

"Cost," Henry asked.

"I have some tuition credits from the military I can claim," Teddy replied, "they can be transferred to a spouse or child. "

"Time," Henry said, "if you weren't pregnant. But our baby needs both of us. I need to be a dad not a student. We never know if or when I'll get another tumour and if that one will be the one that kills me. Teddy, I want to be a dad. I didn't think this was possible. "

"If it's what you want," Teddy replied.

"It is," Henry replied.

"Do you want to stop working while you're in school and be home with the baby," Teddy asked, "Owen can give me six months. Then baby girl will have to go to daycare."

"But if I can stay home and study she won't need to," Henry replied.

"Not as much," Teddy replied.

"I like it," Henry agreed," but the money?"

"You've seen the numbers and my contract is almost up. I can go after a raise," Teddy replied.

"I have to go to work," Henry sighed, checking his watch.

Teddy gave him a kiss before heading to the locker room to get her scrubs.

As soon as she was changed she was paged to OR 2 for a trauma.

Teddy met Owen at the scrub sink.

"Late start," Owen asked.

"Check up," Teddy replied, "it's all good. She's healthy. "

"She " Owen asked.

"It's a girl," Teddy smiled behind her mask.

"You've always wanted a daughter," Owen said, "I'm happy for you."

"Thanks," Teddy nodded, "now once she calms down I'll finish scrubbing."

Teddy spent the day in the OR doing back to back surgeries. When she got home Teddy teared up seeing what was on the table. On it were folded pink blankets, a little pink dress and a stuffed bunny.

"When did you do this," Teddy asked.

"On my lunch," Henry smiled, "is it?"

"It's perfect," Teddy smiled, "she's going to love them."

"I love you," Henry smiled, wrapping his arms around her from behind and kissing her cheek.

"I love you two," Teddy smiled returning the kiss, "baby girl is happy to see you two."

"Really," Henry asked.

"She's squirming," Teddy replied, "she has all day."

"It's still so subtle," Henry said.

"On your side," Teddy laughed.

"You feeling okay," Henry asked, "your home late."

"Tired," Teddy admitted, "I just want a shower, something to eat and to go to bed."

"You shower I'll Cook," Henry said.

"What happens when she's born," Teddy asked, "I don't want to be alone in labour."

"You won't be," Henry promised, "it's my turn to take care of you being the patient."

"It won't be pretty," Teddy replied, "there will be blood, amniotic fluid and I've heard feces."

"And I've vomited blood on you," Henry countered, "whatever happens I will be with you."

"You'll never find me attractive again," Teddy said.

"I'm not worried about that," Henry shook his head pulling Teddy into a hug, "the three of us will be great. We have a daughter."

"We do," Teddy smiled before kissing him.
