More for you all to read!
It was a rare day where Happy visited his even frailer mother. It's been a week since they started her on chemotherapy. So far it looked to be keeping the cancer at bay. But the doctors are keeping a strict eye on his mother's progress. Sasha had been busy running errands and cleaning the cabin. "Hey ma, how are you feeling today?" He asked as he sat down in the chair by her bed. He didn't bother hiding how he was feeling about all this from her. She'd sniff it out just like his wife could. He was glad Clay was giving him this time with his mother. He had been doing smaller jobs for the club so he could stay close to his mother and wife.
Maria smiled at her son and shut the book she had been reading. It was one of the ones Sasha had wrote and published. "I'm doing as well as can be expected." The chemotherapy was taking its toll on her. She knew her time was almost up and wanted to make sure Happy knew he had someone in his life. "How are things with you and Sasha? You aren't pushing her away are you?" Her son could be stubborn when he wanted to be.
Happy allowed himself to smile at his mother. "No ma I am not pushing my wife away. We are doing well ma, she has not left me alone much." Where most men would grow annoyed with a clingy woman. Happy was embracing the love and support Sasha was giving him. He was doing the same with her and she has embraced it. "She's amazing ma, I knew it the moment we met. And when we married but it still blows me away with the constant love and support she gives me."
Maria smirked at her son who was still completely smitten with his wife. "She's perfect for you Happy. Never let her go my son." She smoothed the wrinkles of her blanket out. "Will you two adopt?" She wanted to know if she'll have a grandchild to watch over from high above.
He sighed and ran his hands over his face. "I'm thinking about it ma. Sasha will go nuts if she doesn't have anyone to care for. I was going to talk about it with her tonight." He had been debating off and on for years whether he and Sasha should adopt. She can't have kids of her own but he knew she wanted to be a mother. "If she says yes to it then we'll be looking through orphanages for a child of our own."
"Good, you don't have to worry she'll say yes." Maria was very sure Sasha would say yes to adopting. She looked up as her doctor came. "Hey Dr. Smith." Maria was a very welcoming soul something Happy had to protect her from when it came to the wrong sort.
"Ms. Lowman, Mr. Lowman where is Mrs. Lowman today?" Happy looked at his mother's doctor. "She's busy at home today but she'll visit tomorrow." He told the doctor as he took his mother's vitals and charted them down.
"Everything looks to be on the right track Ms. Lowman." Dr. Smith looked over the latest results and then left the room. Leaving Maria to spend more time with her son.
Sasha was just putting the casserole in the oven when Happy came home. By the smell of it, it was a chicken casserole. He set the keys in the bowl and his cut on the hook. Then walked into the kitchen to see his wife cleaning up the dirty dishes. "Baby sit down for a moment." Happy said as he grabbed a beer from the fridge and sat down at the table.
Sasha looked at her husband and shook her wet hands before sitting down at the table. "What's wrong killer?" He called her baby which meant this was a semi serious conversation. She knew it wasn't about Maria because he told her she was fine when he called her earlier.
Happy fiddled with his beer bottle when she sat down. "How do you feel about adoption?" He looked at her with a serious look in his dark eyes.
Sasha looked at her husband in shock but blushed a bit. Shyly she tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. "I think you would make a wonderful father. I wouldn't be opposed to adopting a child." She reached over and grabbed his hand lacing their fingers together. "Adoption or not I love you Happy and that will never change."
Happy squeezed her hand and tugged her over so she could sit in his lap. "Then let us adopt a child. I know you love taking care of others." He cradled her in his lap as he pressed a kiss to her temple. His wife deserved the world and more, she was his angel.
"I'll look at the orphanages that are located in or near Charming. Then we can find the child that we feel fits well with us." She got off his lap and checked on the casserole. Seeing that it was done she pulled it out and set it on the table. She was about to grab plates and forks when Happy did it for her. She kissed his cheek as thanks before opening the fridge to grab herself a beer.
When dinner was over Sasha went back to cleaning up the dishes with the help of her husband. "I was being serious when I said you would make a wonderful father. You'd kill anyone if they hurt me or our child." There was no hesitation in her voice only the truth and he could hear it.
Happy stopped his wife and let his eyes travel over her beautiful figure. Drying his hands he framed her face and pressed a kiss to her nose. "I'm going to make love to you before I make you scream." It was a promise he knew she would enjoy. He then picked her up and threw her over his shoulder. With a slap to her ass he rushed them into their bedroom where he made good on his promise.
It was a little past midnight when Sasha's phone went off. Rolling off her husband's chest she fumbled for her phone. Groaning she checked the number and answered. "Dr. Smith how can I help you?" She felt her husband turn over and wrap an arm around her. This wasn't a social call, her heart sank as she looked at the time. Definitely a phone call of bad news.
"Maria Lowman passed away an hour ago. We did as much as he could to revive her. It was a peaceful passing, she died in her sleep."
Sasha sat up and held the blanket to her chest. "I thought the results were showing improvement with the chemotherapy." She had a feeling Maria had been hiding most of the bad from her doctors and them. Turning her head to look at her sitting up husband.
"I'm sorry Mrs. Lowman. My condolences to you and your husband. We'll have Maria ready when you have everything arranged."
Sasha heard the doctor hang up, she threw it against the wall as tears welled in her eyes. Her husband turned her around and pulled her into his lap. He reached for the blanket and then draped it over her shoulders. "She's gone Hap. Maria...she's gone." She cried into his chest as he buried his face in her hair. His own tears, silent as they were wetting her hair and skin.
By the time the sun rose Sasha and Happy had cried then cuddled together on the bed. Happy was unwilling to let his wife go but he knew they had to arrange the funeral. The one thing his mother made clear was that she wanted to be cremated. He looked down at his wife and gently brushed her hair from her face. "Angel, we should get started on the funeral."
Sasha looked up at her husband with puffy red rimmed green eyes. "Okay killer. You get things set up for her to be cremated. I'll get things started for the funeral." She didn't want to move but knew they had to do this. Maria didn't want anything large scale but Sasha knew club would want to support them. Sitting up she rubbed her tear stained face. "I'll get the coffee started. It's gonna be a long day."
Happy let her get out of bed but was soon following after her. After throwing on a pair of boxers. His cell in his hand as he began making calls. His wife clad only in his shirt as she started up the coffee maker. Their breakfast was a bowl of cereal each because neither felt in the mood for much more. It was going to be a long few weeks but as long as they had one another they would make it through.
