The next day, the storm was already over, so it was safe for us to leave for Louisiana. We'll be in New Orleans for three days. This hotel we were staying in was huge.
"Wow, this is big," I said.
"I know," said Kristy.
We went to our rooms. Dawn, Mary Anne, Kristy, April, and I would be sharing one room. It was a suite, which I like.
"I wonder what's in New Orleans," said Kaylee.
"I know," I said.
"There's Mardi Gras party here tonight," said Mr. Spier.
"I heard about that. That's how people celebrate here," said Mallory.
"That's right," said Mr. Thomas.
"Wow," said Kaylee. "I never knew that."
"That sounds like fun," said Kristy. "Where is that taken place?"
"Right here in the hotel in a ball room," said Mr. Thomas.
"Cool," I said.
"We don't have anything for it," said Kaylee.
"That's okay. There's a gift shop we can stuff for the party," said Mr. Spier.
"Sounds good," said Kaylee.
"We can go there now," said Mr. Spier.
That's what we did. It was a walking distance. I found neat stuff and costumes for the party. After we bought stuff, we had lunch next door.
"I can't wait for the party tonight. That's going to be fun," said Claudia.
"I know," said Stacey.
"Very exciting," said Kathi.
That night, it was almost time for the party to start. We changed into our costumes and added props. I had these glasses I found for the costume.
"Those are funny glasses," said Kaylee.
"I got a pair for you, too," I said as I got them out to give them to Mary Anne and Kaylee.
"Cool! Thanks," said Kaylee.
"Not a problem," I said.
They put them on and we laughed. Then, we all went over to the ball room that was on the fourth floor. The buffet and refreshments were served. They had a contest for the best costume. That was fun. Kayla, Kaylee, and I were tied with first place. The party ended at 10:00 pm and we went to our rooms.
"The best costume contest was the best part," I said.
"I know," said Kaylee.
"They thought we were triplets," said Mary Anne.
"Triplets?" I asked as we started laughing.
"Yeah, almost with the same costume," said Kaylee.
"And, I picked out the matching glasses," I added. "It would've been tough to be triplets for real."
"I know," said Kaylee as we all laughed again.
We were in bed by 11:00 pm. Everyone was tired from the party. The next day, we get to spend the day to be in the pool inside, but found out it would be closed because it had no heat.
"We lost power from the storm," said the clerk.
"Even the inside pool?" asked Claudia.
"Odd. Everything was working last night," said Stacey.
"A heater guy is coming to fix it later. I didn't want anyone to catch cold," said the clerk.
"Makes sense," I said.
"It should be back open either tonight or tomorrow," said the clerk.
Oh, well. We can do something else. That afternoon, we had lunch in the café area.
"We'll be here for another day anyway," said Mr, Spier.
"Where are we heading next from here?" asked Dawn.
"Nashville, Tennessee," said Mr. Thomas.
"We got tickets for a show the day after tomorrow," added Mr. Spier.
"Swell," I said.
"That would be a fun thing to do," said Stacey.
"That would be cool to see a show," said Mary Anne.
That night, while we had supper, we heard the heater is working and everyone can use the pool now. It doesn't close until around 10:00 pm.
"Want to go in tonight or wait until tomorrow?" asked Mr. Spier.
"Either way is fine with me," said Kathi.
"I agree," said Marci.
We decided to do that tomorrow. The next day, we did that after we had breakfast. We were there for an hour. We went to the mall for the afternoon. We had lunch and saw a movie. We went back to the hotel later on. We had pizza for supper. We watched a few more movies. We went to bed before 11:00 pm.
