I'm back! After a four month long hiatus due to college, I am finally here to write the sequel to A Rare and Precious Thing. So before we jump in, I have a few disclaimers.

1.) I do not own Boy Meets World or Girl Meets World in which most, if not all, the characters will derive from. And some dialogue may also come from the original shows as well based on if I see fit to include it.

2.) This story begins with Girl Meets World season 1 episode 1 and I will work through the seasons of the show and potentially expand on the original three season run.

3.) Background knowledge and a change of history, if you have not read A Rare and Precious Thing. Josh is Cory and Topanga's child and will be a sophomore in high school in the beginning of this story. Maya Hart has become Maya Hunter and Shawn is her father, although due to some circumstances it was never confirmed, but Maya's home life is much better than it was in the original show.

4.) Some episodes that I take a new spin on will either be used, discarded, or placed in a new order for the narrative I have. For example, Maya's birthday is now in September, so we will have her birthday be in the early chapters of this story rather than towards the end of where season one would fall.

5.) Be patient, this will probably be my biggest feat writing wise and length wise.

6.) Enjoy!

"Why do we need to sneak out of the house if we're not doing anything wrong until we sneak onto the subway?" Riley asked her best friend quizzically.

"You think you're ready to just walk by your parents?" Maya replied. She had grown up with Riley Matthews her entire life and knew that that girl would never do anything rebellious without her coaxing. They were in the seventh grade, they had to do something monumental.

Riley shook her head, "I think I'm ready." Maya cocked her head and gave Riley a knowing look. The girl couldn't lie to save her life. "Out the window?"

"Yeah," Maya agreed.

The two girls opened the bay window beside them for their escape. However, just as Maya has one foot out the window she was pushed back in by her father and her uncle.

"Daddy? Why are you and Uncle Shawn out the window?" Riley asked politely.

"Because he's being smarter than me," Maya grumbled crossing her arms in front of her. "How come you're always smarter than me?"

"He's not," Shawn chimed in, worming himself in between Maya and Riley. "But I am. You think I don't know when my daughter is going to sneak onto the subway?"

"I do it all the time," Maya replied.

"Exactly," Shawn said. When he brought Maya home from the hospital, he could not imagine that his sweet, innocent little girl would be the female version of him. He was proud, but Cory did not feel the same way towards his daughter's antics.

"So why stop me now?" Maya questioned. If her dad was aware of her behavior, then what made this time different.

"Cory found out," Shawn explained. He had come over that afternoon to catch up with Cory, as he'd done almost everyday for the past thirteen years, and may have let his daughter's plans slip.

Shawn was proud of the relationship he had with his daughter. It was much better than what he had with his parents. Maya grew up in a stable household with two parents that love each other. That was all Shawn wanted for her and like Riley and Cory, he knew Maya could come to him with anything, even confide her rebellious plans to him. Katy wasn't a fan of Maya's actions, but trusted that Shawn knew what he was doing. Maya had yet to get into serious trouble with the cops, only a minor infraction here and there.

"Matthews," Maya groaned, staring daggers at Cory as he tried to hide himself between his daughter and Shawn.

"You know Maya, you can call me Uncle Cory," Cory suggested. All three of his children had called Shawn uncle, but Shawn's daughter had never done the same to him. Maya glared back at Cory, causing him to yelp. "Save me Shawnie!"

"How come we can't go onto the subway?" Riley argued.

"Because," Cory began as he turned his attention to Riley, "I am not letting another one of my children get corrupted by a Hunter."

"Hey dad, I need twenty bucks," Josh said arriving into Riley's room as if on cue.

"Point taken," Cory said. His oldest, Josh, was a sophomore in high school and tended to act more like Shawn more than him. Though Josh was a straight A student, the trouble that he and his friends would get into was usually prompted by him.

"What are you talking about? Josh turned out perfectly fine," Shawn argued. He had to admit that the kid was much cooler than Cory was at his age. Josh was fortunate enough to be born with Topanga's hair and follow in Shawn's footsteps fashion wise. Shawn had even given him a few tips to help deprogram the Cory out of him and get the girls. "Don't you think so kiddo?"

Shawn nudged Maya, taking her out of her Josh-induced trance. Since she could remember she had always had a crush on Riley's older brother and it only seemed to intensify rather than wither away. "Yeah," Maya said dreamily not taking her eyes off Josh.

Josh laughed. He knew Maya had a crush on him. It was quite obvious to him and their families. When he was younger, it used to annoy him. Actually, it still did. She was practically family and Riley's best friend. However, since high school Josh had known how to deal with the affection of multiple ladies.

"Fine, then why don't we ask Josh what he thinks about your guys' endeavor," Cory suggested, hoping his son would be on his side. "Maya and Riley want to sneak onto the subway."

"What's the problem with that?" Josh asked. "I did it when I was their age. More power to 'em."

"What?!" Cory almost had an aneurysm in that moment. He realized he had to keep better tabs on Josh's actions. There was no way he would let Riley repeat his mistakes with his eldest. "Has the world gone mad?"

"Not yet," Topanga chimed in, taking a spot behind Josh in the doorway. He was still waiting for his twenty bucks.

"Mom, can I have twenty bucks?" Josh asked.

"Sure, it's in my wallet," Topanga said. Josh kissed his mom on the cheek and gave her a hug before departing to claim the money.

"Topanga, how could you? Do you know what he is going to use that money for?" Cory questioned.

"Yes, pizzas. Andrew is downstairs waiting for him," Topanga answered. Cory sank in the bay window seat a little. Of course Topanga knew what he was doing, she was always so good with him ever since he was a baby.

"Do you know that your daughter was going to sneak onto the subway?" Cory asked, hoping to one-up his wife.

"Riley!" Topanga scolded. "You guys stopped her, right?"

"Of course! What type of father would I be if I didn't," Cory replied, glancing over to Shawn.

"What was that for?" Shawn implored.

"You know what you did," Cory huffed, standing up and taking Josh's former spot next to Topanga. He placed his hand on her back and headed out the room.

"Where are you to going?" Riley asked.

"Downstairs. I trust that you and Maya will make the right decision," Cory responded. He knew what the decision would be, with Maya around Riley would be getting into the mischief he and Shawn did at their age. He said his peace and wanted to give Riley the chance to make that decision for herself. "Shawn, you coming?"

"Yeah, in one minute," Shawn said. He watched and waited for Cory and Topanga to leave before handing the girls twenty bucks each. "It's not called sneaking, if you have the funds to do so." Riley and Maya beamed. "Now go, I can handle your father."

"Thanks Uncle Shawn," Riley said heading out the bay window.

"Thanks Dad," Maya said as she gave her old man a hug. She was definitely going to pocket it for something else later down the road.

"I got your back, always. Now you better get going before Cory gets suspicious," Shawn urged.

Maya headed out the bay window behind Riley as Shawn watched proudly.

"You gave them money, didn't you?" Cory questioned from the doorway.

"How'd you guess?" Shawn smiled.

"Lip gloss? I'm impressed," Maya commented watching Riley add the final touches on the subway.

"Oh, what I forgot to mention is that I'm completely reinventing myself. I ride the Subway now, I have kiwi lips now, and I'm just as cool as you now," Riley celebrated.

She had always been slightly jealous of Maya. Maya was cool and carefree, nothing could bother her. Riley wanted to be just like her best friend and she knew Maya could show her the way.

Maya grinned and looked over Riley's shoulder. "Yeah? Let's see how cool you can be when you look at him," Maya suggested.

Riley turned around to look at the boy Maya was talking about. She smiled and locked eyes with the most handsome guy she had ever seen. The best part was that he smiled back. Riley turned away and started giggling back at Maya with a goofy grin.

"I'm in love," Riley admitted. "This must be like how you feel about Josh."

"We are not talking about your really hot brother right now," Maya said deflecting. Though Riley was aware of Maya's crush, she did not necessarily approve of it. She supported her friend but would prefer if the object of Maya's affections was someone other than her brother. "You're gonna need some lessons. Okay, let me show you everything you need to know about boys and girls." Maya walked away from Riley and sat down by the boy who had captured Riley's eye. "Hi, I'm Maya. You're really cute. We should hang out sometime. You make me happy. You don't pay enough attention to me. This isn't working out. It's you, not me. We can still be friends. Not really." Leaving the boy confused, Maya walked back to Riley. "You still wanna be like me?"

Riley nodded furiously. "I want to be exactly like you. I think too much and you don't think at all."

"See, you get me. So let's not think." Maya unlatched Riley's hand from the pole she held to keep her balance on the subway and gave her a little push, literally.

Riley stumbled backwards and onto the lap of the boy she had been looking at previously. "Hi. We were just talking about you," Riley began.

"I'm Lucas," he introduced himself.

"I love it," Riley said.
