"Yeah! This one is big enough!"
Rena smiled as she hugged a huge red caskey plushie. Caskeys were small dinosaurs living in Sander, who would furiously bite humans but cute at the same time. It looked even cuter when it turned into a plushie.
Rena and Ain walked out of the store and headed home. Ain would bring the plushie, but Rena insisted she wanted to hug it all the way home. She couldn't see what's ahead, so Ain held her left arm as they walked to guide her.
Ain grabbed her arm tightly, telling her to stop. In front of them was their friend, who was buying the local desert soda. "Noah, why are you alone?" Ain asked and stared at the boy.
Noah was startled and glanced at Ain and the huge plushie. He paid for the soda and approached them with a troubled look. "I tried to follow Add and Eve to home, but I got lost—"
"Noah! We got a new friend for you!" Rena shouted with a smile and moved the plushie left and right, giving the hint that the plushie was the new friend. "Come with us. We're going home."
"But it's just a plushie," Noah replied with a confused look and followed them from behind. The drink was sour and sweet, very refreshing for people that live in the desert.
"I know, but you seem lonely," Rena said in a sad tone. She was trying to make a happy atmosphere, but she couldn't do it while holding the plushie. "Ain told me you have nightmares often, so we hope this plushie will help."
"It's fine. Don't worry about me," Noah smiled before he took another sip of his soda. He was always a light sleeper. A nightmare was just a way to pass the night for him.
"Nisha doesn't play with you that much and we're always minding our own stuff. You're our new friend, but we're treating you like an outsider. We should worry about you, to be honest," Rena sighed, trying to look back to see Noah's face. "You eat a lot too. Some people eat a lot to cope with stress, you know?"
Noah shook his head. "I'll be there when you guys need help. You guys can have fun in your free time, I'll be fine. Just treat me like I'm not around—"
"Don't say that," Ain said as he grabbed Noah's hand with his right hand to make him walk alongside them. "Aside from work, we spend time together almost every night. I might not be there, but I'm sure you do with everyone else. You're not alone anymore."
"N-No, it's fine! I can always meet people at the clinic! I'm not lonely, I'm… not…" Noah started sobbing. Tears rolled down to his cheeks, even though he was always alone ever since his weapon friend died. He shouldn't be crying about it anymore, but he just did.
They stopped at an ice cream shop. Ain told them to wait while he bought ice creams. Both of them took a seat on a public bench. Rena put the plushie next to her and moved closer to Noah to pat his head. "There, there. We're your friends now!"
Ain came back with three ice creams for each of them. "Foods and drinks taste better with friends around," Ain said before eating his ice cream.
Even with the kindness around, Noah felt skeptical of the situation. It was too normal while it should be an alternate timeline situation. Rena was definitely affected because she said something about him being treated like an outsider while he actually wasn't. The gang did play with him a lot.
And that was the problem. For some reason, Ain said that they spent time together often. He should be saying something about treating Noah like an outsider. "Ain, do you realize this is an alternate timeline situation?" Noah asked bluntly, ignoring the confused Rena.
"What situation? I did find it weird, but I'm playing along for now," Ain answered, feeling confused as well since he had bad memories. But he was very sure he wasn't in a relationship with Rena.
"I didn't understand a thing, but I love it," Nisha said with a smile as they left the orchestra. She found the pieces very pleasant to hear and that was it. She couldn't describe anything else.
Ciel smiled back and patted Nisha's head. He didn't understand anything either, but he was glad to see Nisha enjoyed it. "That's good. Why did you want to go to see an orchestra all of a sudden? I don't remember you're into music."
"Huh, really? I have a melodica," Nisha replied with a confused look. She asked Laby about it, but unfortunately, Laby also didn't remember when Nisha got interested in music. Nisha herself didn't remember, but she had the melodica next to her bed. It even had Laby and her names on the case. Was she imagining it?
"I'm sorry to say this again, but you're bad at art," Ciel said and put his palms together as a sign of apology. He's sure Nisha wouldn't get offended, but he felt bad for saying it.
"Who made this then? Laby had one too," Nisha said with a serious look, showing the scuffed friendship bracelet on her left hand. She didn't remember ever making it. Logically, Ciel should have one on his hand if he made it, but he never made it. Nisha sighed and recalled her memory when they had breakfast. Who else had the bracelets? "I don't remember Raven and Chung being good at art… and Noah is bad at it too. They have it, though."
"Guys, let's eat!"
Lu ran toward them and glomped at Ciel. Even though he was taken, Nisha still let Lu do whatever she wanted to Ciel. She was his master, after all. "Elesis said the restaurant there is good. Let's try!" Lu pointed at the restaurant on their left.
Elesis forced herself to laugh and greeted them. "Hey, I said it's my favorite! I prefer Ciel's cooking."
"Let's try it then. It's lunch time already," Nisha nodded at the plan.
They went to the restaurant. It wasn't crowded, only two people were sitting on the corner. On closer look, they looked too familiar, but also weird to be together. "Aisha? Chung?" Lu tilted her head a bit in confusion, waving her hands at them.
Aisha was startled while Chung greeted them like it was a normal day. They took the table next to the odd couple. Nisha faced Chung and showed the bracelet in her hand. "Did you make this?"
"I didn't. I don't know why I have it," Chung shrugged and stared at the friendship bracelet on his left hand.
"Why are you guys here? Are you guys cheating?" Lu asked in curiosity.
"We were going to bookstores," Chung explained without any expression. He wasn't sure what else to say to convince them, but it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't convince them.
"Do we look good together?" Aisha asked and faced the group next to her table. They wouldn't remember what happened until midnight, so it should be fine to ask random questions. It might not affect the real timeline anyway.
"Honestly? No, you're way too expressive for Chung," Elesis said with a smirk.
"Both of you have the same hobby. I'm surprised you guys aren't a thing," Ciel continued with a confused look. He kept staring at them, trying to imagine them going together.
Aisha forced herself to laugh, smiling awkwardly and looking away from them. They WERE a thing, though. Maybe they could be for the rest of the day… if that was even possible.
Lu giggled and smiled at Elesis. "You should've said yes and convinced them to be together! Aren't you still in love with Add?"
Elesis' face turned red, denying it instantly with obvious lies. Lu kept teasing her, making her even more flattered and losing her cool.
"I'll get going. You guys have fun," Chung waved his hand and got out of the restaurant. Aisha didn't want to lose him, so she took her leave as well.
Elesis pouted and rested her chin on the table. "Chung used to help me when you're teasing me. He's quiet ever since he's with Eve!"
Lu laughed and patted Elesis' arm—because she couldn't reach her head. "There, there. Maybe Eve loves him more when he's quiet."
"What does that even mean? She wants him to shut up or what?" Elesis sighed and leaned her back on the chair.
The waiter came to them and put their orders into the table. Before they enjoyed their food, the waiter put a paper on the table. "Your friends said you will pay their bills."
Ciel facepalmed, starting to get annoyed by himself for forgetting something important. He also got annoyed at a certain person, maybe he would smack him once in a while. "Damn it, I forgot Chung can be a d-ck…"
Elsword and Ara left the cinema. They were watching several action movies. It was quite boring, especially when they fought demons themselves and the action movies were less intense than what they were doing. "It's getting lame. Do you have another plan?" Ara asked as she looked at the movie list. Even cartoons were options now.
"I do, but it's stupid. Do you want to work on a 1000 puzzle pieces?" Elsword asked with, ironically, a serious look. He actually wanted to do it, but he wasn't sure if Ara would be interested.
"Hey, why not? Let's get the frame too and put it in the living room!" Ara nodded her head. She found it uninteresting, but doing it with her boyfriend would be different.
As they walked to the store to buy a puzzle, they found Aisha and Chung walking together. Ara quickly pulled Elsword's hand to move away from the street and hid in an alleyway. Elsword sighed and stared at Ara. "The street is quiet, Ara. I'm sure Chung noticed us already."
"Are you serious?" Ara asked in disbelief, but still insisted on hiding and watched the two. It was odd to see them together. "What do you think they're doing? Cheating?"
"They're probably buying books. What are you thinking?" Elsword asked back with a curious look. Ara just laughed and shook her head.
After they got their puzzle, they went home. They could hear Add and Eve talking in the lab. Ara got even more skeptical, but Elsword said there was nothing to worry about. Trust was important for couples, so he didn't want to start spreading random rumors.
Aisha and Chung were spending their time walking around the town until night. For Aisha, it was a memorable moment that she might never get again. It was sad that Chung wouldn't remember any of this. "Can we hang out again someday?"
Chung nodded, even though he was confused with Aisha today. He enjoyed their time together, but something was off. Aisha kept preventing him from going home. "Of course. We never hang out more than buying books, though. Is something bothering you?"
Aisha grabbed his hand with a sad smile and faced him. "Well, I… love you," she said it with a bit of hesitation. Everything that happened today shouldn't be affecting anything, but why was her heart racing? She was actually hoping Chung would feel the same, at least for the last few hours of the day. "I know both of us are taken, but… I want you to be my boyfriend."
Chung looked away from her, but he was still holding hands with her. Slowly, he let go of it. "I'm sorry, I'm staying with Eve," he said with a sad look.
Aisha tilted her head a bit. He could be angry from her actions, so why was he sad? "Did something happen between you two?"
"Yeah, but it's fine. We'll manage," he answered with a forced smile.
The house was quiet and peaceful. Nobody really made a ruckus, except Lu and Elesis who kept playing with each other. Nisha and Ciel were just spending time in the kitchen.
The people in the lab didn't care what the others were doing. Add was sitting in his bed, leaning his back on the wall. There were several screens around him. The one in front of him was a video poker with virtual money that he could convert to real money, but the currency could change anytime. Noah was next to him, eating his instant noodles.
Aisha sat on the lab chair, not knowing what to do after she got home. "You shouldn't teach kids how to gamble."
"I already know, but I suck at it," Noah replied and looked at Aisha. He got concerned when he finally saw her being sad. "Did it not go well?"
"I'd say it went too well. It wouldn't happen anymore," Aisha sighed and forced herself to smile. It's nothing but a fake memory now.
"Just ask him. Aren't you two singles?" Add asked, making the screen in front of him disappear. "Tch, I almost got a straight."
"Well, yes, but…" Aisha sighed again and looked away from them. It would be awkward to hangout with Chung. Nothing was wrong, but it felt weird to hangout with her ex. She even felt it today.
"They didn't realize, so I did a thing," Add said with a smirk. He told them what he was doing the entire time, even showing it on the screens. It made Aisha scream, but Noah just stared at them with a confused look.
"Wait, oh my god! Why?!" Aisha screamed, her feelings were mixed between surprise, confusion and happiness. She found it a fun thing to do to kill time, but questionable at the same time.
Midnight finally came. Everyone gathered in the living room except Add. They went back to normal, but they were questioning what they were doing the whole day. Eve couldn't remember and it was frustrating, so she stayed silent. She closed her eyes, recalling her memories.
And suddenly she spread her wings, glaring at Add's lab. Her emotion core couldn't detect the right feeling she felt now, but the emotion that was shown the most was anger. Elsword grabbed her shoulder, calling her name until she finally snapped out of it. "Eve, what's wrong?" Elsword asked, feeling concerned because he barely saw Eve get angry this much.
"To think that a mere human would disrespect the Queen of Nasods…!" Eve clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. She sighed, folding her wings and glancing at Chung. She looked at Elsword, realizing how much she worried him. "I… It's fine, it won't affect anything except him. I let my guard down," she said as she stared at the lab. She told everyone the effect of the potion—about the alternate timeline and why they won't be able to remember anything.
"Alright, alright! Whatever he did, I'll lecture him," Rose smiled at everyone, especially Eve. She walked to Add's lab, finding him reading something on the screen while sitting on the lab chair. He didn't look well, he looked really tired. "Add—"
Add got up and hugged Rose with a bit of energy left on his body. He felt the warmth he was searching for, even the smell of gunpowder she usually had. "Aw, what's wrong? And what did you do to Eve?" Rose smiled, patting Add's head.
But she didn't get any answer. Add's body didn't move either. She grabbed his shoulders, noticing he already fell asleep. She carried his body easily to the bed, seeing his sleeping face. "Did I leave you alone all day, Add...?"
Before everyone went back to their rooms, Aisha called Chung to the backyard. She wasn't planning to do it, but she did call him. And he actually showed up. She felt dumb for this, deciding something with her confused mind wasn't a good idea. "It's nothing! I'm sorry for calling you," she said with a forced smile.
Chung tilted his head in confusion, staring at Aisha's face. "Did I offend you today? I'm sorry."
"No, no—Wait," Aisha narrowed her eyes at Chung. The question was weird to her. "We don't remember anything!"
"I found new books in my room, most likely your recommendations. You use time and space magic, so this potion wouldn't affect you—"
"Yes, okay. It didn't affect me," Aisha sighed and looked away from him. She could keep lying, but he already knew anyway. Noah and Add might tell him too. "We sent our restaurant bill to Ciel's group. It was your idea."
"He will never know. That's exciting," Chung laughed at it, except he seemed to be very happy about trolling the group. It started to concern Aisha, but she remembered he used to be like this.
Aisha couldn't help but laugh along with him. She didn't find it funny before, but seeing Chung made her laugh too. "Do you have plans on your day off, Chung? Let's hangout," she asked with a smile, instantly regretting it. She got carried away and she hated herself for having too much hope.
"I do have plans, I'm sorry. She wouldn't let me even if I'm free anyway," Chung smiled slightly.
"She? Who?" Aisha asked with curiosity. Did Chung have a crush on someone? Did his crush not let him be around other girls? Who was this "she" anyway?
Someone ran toward them with a pout on their face. "Aisha! I have ideas for our performances. Come with me!"
Aisha turned her face to the person, Nisha. Seeing the girl reminded her of what Chung said just now. "I told you. I'm going to bed, good night guys," Chung waved his hand and went upstairs.
"Just say it here. What's the idea?" Aisha asked and gestured to Nisha to come closer.
"Let me hug you when you do your transformation," Nisha said as she opened her arms. Too bad Aisha's transformation would do the same, so she didn't get the hug she wanted. "Let's go back then! Why were you with Chung anyway?"
"Well… I was with him today, so I told him a bit of what happened," Aisha answered and broke the hug with Nisha.
Nisha's reaction wasn't something that Aisha expected. She gripped Aisha's hands tightly, looking straight into her eyes with a creepy smile. Her mirror trembled a bit, floating right to her face to rub itself against her cheeks. "He doesn't love you anymore, Aisha. I'll fill the missing part in your heart."
