(A/N): Hey Guys! So, I only just remembered that, in Drama, which is where I am now, they're doing a play with the year 12's which I'm not a part of, so I have some free time while my teacher is instructing the other kids.

Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.

Leo

I wasn't sure as to how old Greygorry was exactly, but judging by how strong he was- a vampire's strength increases slightly each year in which they are alive- he was even older than my father was. I groaned quietly as I hit the ground after having bounced off a tree, knowing I was lucky that he'd been so gentle with me, even if he'd already bruised me quite badly. Nothing broken yet, except for my pride, but I wasn't exactly feeling optimistic.

"Have you learnt yet?"

I stared up at him, tasting my own blood as it seeped into my mouth both from the cut on my lip, and my nose. "Learnt what?" I rasped, before spitting some of the blood out onto the ground.

"That patience is key." I glared at him. "You rush into things Leo, always- and without thinking of the consequences for yourself!" I scoffed derisively.

"Of course I don't think! I don't have the luxury of worrying about what happens to me, I have people relying on me- people I care about!"

Greygorry rolled his eyes, then suddenly, he was right up in my face. "You need to learn!" He practically spat, but I didn't show the slight fear I felt- I knew he could crush me like a bug, and I wouldn't put it past him to do so. "I am here to help you, and I can't do that if you aren't willing!" I crossed my arms over my chest, wincing lightly as the movement aggravated my bruised ribs, steadily avoiding looking at him. "This is only the first lesson, Leo... the first of many you must learn." I heard him sigh, far more heavily than I would've thought befitting of the situation. "The first of many I must teach you, if you're going to survive long enough to take care of those people who 'rely on you' so desperately that you feel the need to throw yourself directly into danger in order to protect them."

I shot him a look at this, reluctant to offer him even that much. "Best get started on that lesson plan, then, eh?" The training session ended quite soon after that, once he helped me out of the remnants of the tree he'd punched me through and realised that I'd broken at least one finger upon landing poorly. I was fine with this, though- broken fingers healed quickly enough, and I'd much prefer enduring that sort of pain than having to suffer dealing with Greygorry in this sort of mood for even another minute.

(A/N): A short chapter, I know, I'm sorry!

Please review and/or check out my other stories!

This chapter has had minor edits made to it on 30/12/22 - Greygorry repeatedly called Leo 'Leonides' instead of Leo, which Leo wouldn't have stood for.

This chapter has had edits made to it on 6/3/24 - formatting, and reconfiguring of sentences so they make sense. Added everything beyond Greygorry saying 'This is only the first lesson, Leo... the first of many you must learn.' Which of course means that I added Leo breaking his fingers, which means I need to make changes to the next chapter so that carries over. Also, I was originally going to say Leo broke his collarbone, and then I was like, 'hm, yeah, but that takes a while to heal, and I don't want to add anything that big to the story on an edit', so I said fingers, not really thinking about the fact that, since I've already written (far) future chapters, I already know this isn't the last time Greygorry breaks Leo's fingers. Or, well... Leo breaks Leo's fingers, with Greygorry's help.
