(A/N): Hey Guys! So, guys, I wrote some chapters at school today, during English, Health, a little in Photography and then in History and Geography. I also got three worksheets done in health, so... And in English, we didn't even have a teacher for like, the first half hour of lesson.
Disclaimer: I own nothing you recognise.
Leo
After my mother entered the house and slammed the door behind her, I took off in the direction of the estate I had just left, knowing my friends wouldn't be too far away.
As I ran, I thought about Mia.
Surely, my mother would take her anger at me out on her, even if she needed her. After all, you didn't need to kill someone in order to inflict pain.
I had always protected Mia, it was my duty as her older brother. Even if she usually brought the trouble on herself.
And now, I had abandoned her in the cruel, manipulating talons of my mother, basically a little present all wrapped in bows for her to have her way with.
Mia was my little sister, and my only friend for years, and after the first time I had taken a curse for her, I swore to myself that I would keep her safe, no matter what the cost to myself.
When I met Lily, that promise transferred to her as well.
I wasn't going to lose the first friend I had in years, I didn't want to be alone again, despised.
From the second I had met her, this also applied to Elaine.
She had swept into my heart and just... taken over.
I knew, in that second, that I would do anything I had to in order to keep her by my side. Especially after I found out what her father had done to her.
And then my dorm mates, the Marauder boys, crept into my hearts.
Remus came quicker than the others, of course, because I spent the most time with him, and how alike we were.
You can't go through people rejecting you and being disgusted at the very sight of you without forming a tight bond, after all.
Sirius was next.
His goofy manner compiled with his harsh pureblood upbringing forced me into it, like an overly friendly headlock, and now he was like a brother to me, almost.
James and I, we had our differences over the years, but his reluctance to trust me and his loyalty to Elaine were what made me need to keep him safe. If I died, James would be the one who took over, who protected the others. I needed him.
And Peter, he felt as if he had been there the whole time.
It was easy to forget about Peter, he had a way of blending into his surroundings to the point of you not noticing he was even there until it was too late.
He had snuck into my heart, and there was no way I could kick him out. Even though he had known what I was, he had still stuck by me, and he had chosen to stay with Lily when we had excluded them just to keep her happy.
He was a good guy, really, he was just practically invisible.
And there you have it.
I'm a protector.
A lover.
A fighter.
I'd do anything for them, anything.
And they knew it.
Elaine
After we had boarded the Knight bus as the end of the Mikaelsonn's driveway, we had found a small, dirty diner that was still open and taken up a long booth.
Only about half an hour later, Leo dropped onto the seat beside Brooke, and Lily's head snapped up in surprise.
"Leo?" She questioned. "How the hell did you even find us?" He gave a nonchalant shrug, but I could tell he was worried about something by the way he was chewing his lips.
"What's wrong?" Brooke asked, beating me too it, and he didn't even glance at her before shaking his head.
"Nothing." He said quickly, and I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Leo-" He cut me off as his eyes met mine, full of anxiety and terror.
"It's fine, Elaine, alright?" He said sharply, and I watched him for a second before reluctantly nodding.
"Alright." It was silent for a second before the waitress arrived at the side of the table.
"Anything for you cutie?" Leo completely seemed to miss the wink she gave him, but Brooke didn't, giving the young woman- a teenager, only a few years older than us really- a strong glare.
"Just coffee, thanks." Her smile dropped slightly as he didn't even look up, and she disappeared back behind the counter.
"That bitch was totally hitting on you!" Brooke exclaimed, smacking him on the shoulder for emphasis.
"Was she?" He asked, obviously interested in something else at the moment as he paid about as much attention to her as he had done the waitress.
"Oh please, she wants a slice of this." I said, reaching over to ruffle his hair.
"Here's your coffee, love." Again, he didn't look up, barely acknowledging her with a nod as he gripped the steaming mug between both hands.
The waitress hesitated for a second before leaving.
"See?" Brooke said, gesturing after the girl. "You're jail bait!" He cracked a weak, obviously forced smile at this.
"Does this mean we can pimp him out to the seventh years when we get back to Hogwarts?" James questioned, and Lily rolled her eyes.
"No one's pimping Leo out." I'm sure Leo would have thanked her if he hadn't been so distracted.
"How's Mia?" I asked, and I knew that I had struck gold when he flinched. "Aha! How is Mia?" He met my eyes again.
"Probably being tortured."
(A/N): So, what did you think?
Please review and/or check out my other stories!
This chapter has had minor edits made to it on 30/12/22 - Made the waitress a 'young woman- a teenager only a few years older us really' because otherwise it was way creepier.
