Notes: So alot has been going on in my life, so in a way to...Stabilize it, I'm returning to my roots of fanfic writing. However, I didn't want to write anything serious right now, so this is more of a fluff piece you could say. There's less of a overarching story, and each chapter moreso being Aqua/Ruby moments. Not that a story isn't present, but it's not as detailed as My Sensei.

This story is going to be pretty heavily reader driven, so comment what you want to see(Aqua/Ruby going on a date somewhere, a girls sleepover where Ruby gossips with Kana Mem-Cho, a chapter where Aqua smokes weed, whatever the hell you want) and I'll try to implement anything that strikes my fancy.

This is just the prologue, most chapters will be 5k-8k.

Thanks for reading.

The soft pouring of the rain outside was the only sound that filled the room, as Aquamarine Hoshino, son of the late idol Ai Hoshino, sat at his desk. A stern look, one filled with the darkest of despairs, looked over his monitor with little remorse. It wasn't anything unusual, this was something he did every single night.

Scouring the dark web in search of hints relating to Ai.

Truthfully, it was a fool's errand in many regards. Almost any lead he found went nowhere, and even when he traced them back to actual murders, many of them were cases that had already been solved by the police.

Anything relating to Ai was either bullshit or gossip, with a theory thrown here and there. Whenever a post mentioned an ex lover, Aqua would follow that as far back as he could but…Nothing ever came from it.

Nothing ever came from anything he did.

Yet every night without fail, he would sacrifice hours of sleep just to scour the dark web in search of any tools relating to Ai.

With a heavy sigh, Aqua leaned back in his chair and looked up at the ceiling above him. For over a decade now he had been at this, and his busy schedule was about to get even more packed with highschool coming up.

He had been accepted into Youtou Academy, one of the premier entertainment high schools in the area. It wasn't surprising, he had graduated from medical school in his previous life afterall. Still, it meant adding even more work to his schedule, especially since High school would require just a bit more attention from him compared to middle school.

There was also of course his sister, Ruby Hoshino.

Much like himself, Ruby was also reincarnated, though contrary to her claims that she was a mature older woman when she died, her personality and behavior aligned more with a preteen to a teenager.

While that was fine, he didn't really care who she used to be, it did mean that he had to pay more attention to her protection than one might expect. With her looks, and ambition to be an idol herself, it would be easy for some scumbag to come up to her and take advantage of her.

So he effectively shadowed her every movement, making sure she didn't get involved with trash and keeping any would-be suitors away from her. He wasn't against her dating, but for better or worse he didn't trust her judgment when it came to men.

Granted, she had long told him that she had her heart set on one man from her previous life, and nobody could replace him.

If she was a pre-teen to a teenager in her previous life, then the guy she was in love with would likely be in his thirties now with his own family but…Better not to ruin her dream, not now atleast.

Raising a hand and rubbing it over his face, Aqua let out one final sigh, his hand moving over to grip his mouse once more as he opened a new tab. Quickly heading to a bank website, and logging in, he looked over the funds of his old account from his previous life.

Despite nothing being deposited, he still had quite a bit of a fortune saved up. It took some time to gain access to it, since he had to call the bank and spend quite some time 'proving' he was his old life, and getting a card shipped out to where he now lived.

Not to mention having to hide said card from Miyako and Ruby.

It was good in a pinch atleast, such as when the trains went down so he had to buss all the way back to Tokyo from a filming with the director, to help order food for the entire staff on set when catering had an accident.

Helped he was usually reimbursed more than he actually paid.

Looking over his funds absent mindedly, Aqua clicked on it and just began to scroll through the purchases. It didn't take long to find the ones that were date sixteen years ago, most of them being nothing more than convenience store purchases.

Still it brought back memories of spending all night at the hospital, and then dropping by a convenience store on the way home to grab breakfast before passing out on the bed.

It also brought back memories of someone he used to buy meat buns for all the time.

A patient that left a deep impression on him.

A patient by the name of Sarina Tendouji.

In many ways, Aqua knew his love of Ai boiled down to how much she reminded him of Sarina, his feelings being projected directly onto her. Perhaps it wasn't surprising, Sarina had been the one patient he truly bonded with during his understudy years, and to see a life cut short like that…

It gave him a new perspective on life in many ways.

He often wondered where Sarina was now, was she in Heaven? Or had she been reincarnated like he had?

If she was reincarnated…

Aqua's eyes slowly moved to a picture of his desk, a picture of Ai holding both him and Ruby as babies as she smiled for the camera.

His eyes lingered on the picture for just a few moments, before closing.

He was thinking too much, there was a four year time difference while he had been reincarnated right away.

It wouldn't make sense.

Pushing away from his desk, Aqua stood up and stretched as he eyed the clock on his wall.

It was almost three in the morning, he had to get ready to head to his new school in just a few hours.

Might as well get a few hours of sleep, he thought.

Walking over, Aqua practically collapsed onto his bed, exhaustion that never got settled quickly taking its toll as his eyes quickly shut, the world of dreams overcoming him.

….

"Hey, Onii-chan!" Aqua's eyes shot open as he stared at the ceiling above him, a beam of light coming in through the window and washing over his face.

The clock on his wall signaled it was seven in the morning, meaning he had been asleep for four hours.

It didn't even feel like four minutes.

Still, pushing those thoughts aside, Aqua pushed himself up into a sitting position, a sweet fragrance quickly washing over his nose. His face turned towards the side, towards the voice that had awoken him. "Geez Onii-chan,do you know how long I had to shake you?"

The one standing beside him was Ruby, already dressed in her new school uniform and hair tied up with a bow. Though her voice had a hint of annoyance in it, her overall expression couldn't quite hide the excitement she felt for the new school they would be attending.

Raising a hand to brush his own hair out of his face, Aqua straightened himself and crossed his legs. "Sorry, trouble sleeping last night is all."

"Nervous about going to a new school?" Ruby tilted her head towards the side, in which Aqua replied with a shrug.

"Sure, I guess." His response was anything but satisfactory, though Ruby knew pressing the issue wouldn't get anywhere when it came to Aqua.

"Well, don't be! You passed with flying colors afterall, and I barely scrapped in haha…ha…" Ruby's awkward laugh died off rather quickly when Aqua's expression didn't change, a hand being raised to scratch the back of her head. "A-Anyway Onii-Chan! I know you're just in general education, but what do you plan to pursue? Like…Math? Science? History?"

Ruby rattled off general questions to just make casual conversation with Aqua, who slowly began to push himself off of the bed and walk over towards his closet. "...Once I'm…Done…With helping the director, then I'll likely go into the medical field."

"Eh?" Ruby was caught off guard by what Aqua had said, tilting her head to the side curiously. "Medical…?"

"Before I died, I was a doctor, so I've already passed the medical exam once before. It would be an easy transition and…Financially, I be set." Truthfully, Aqua wasn't entirely sure what laid before him once he was done with helping the director out. Once he had found his father and got his revenge, what would there be left for him?

Assuming he even got away with it.

But if he did get away with it, and his more dark thoughts didn't cloud his judgment in reference to his own life…Then having a career set out for after that would be ideal. Afterall, even with Ai's life savings, plus his own savings from his past life, he still needed to make sure he could support Ruby, Miyako and whoever else was important enough to the two of them.

"A doctor huh…" Ruby's words died off, her gaze looking towards the floor while she shifted uncomfortably back and forth.

"You have a problem with doctors?"

"A-Ah no, of course not! It's just…I've told you before right, my first love? He was a doctor too and…I was…Hospitalized alot so…We bonded, you could say."

"Is that right?" Aqua said, not quite fully caring still as he changed shirts into his buttoned up white one, grabbing his tie to throw over his neck afterwards. "Well, I guess it's not surprising. Women fall in love with doctors for a variety of reasons, from a love of the uniform, to developing feelings because said doctor is caring for them all the time, or for just the money…I hope, you didn't fall for him just for the money."

"Geez Onii-chan, making me sound like a monster." Ruby pouted as she walked over and gently hit Aqua in the shoulder, a blush creeping over her face with her gaze looking towards the side. "I fell in love with him because he was kind, sweet, he cared for me when nobody else did, he always visited me, he gave me gifts, and…Even though he didn't like himself, he always encouraged me when I watched Mama."

"Hm? You watched Ai in the hospital?" Aqua raised an eyebrow, slowly looking over at Ruby from the corner of his eye.

"Y-Yeah, she was my inspiration you could say. For someone to be the same age as me and be so full of life while I was dying…It…It was mesmerizing…" Ruby recounted, the blush on her face only deepening.

All the same, Aqua looked back at Ruby with somewhat gaped lips, before closing them and quickly nodding. "R-Right, makes sense, I'm sure a lot of girls were like that."

"Yeah, mama had alot of fans…Ah! Onii-chan! Look at the time! Hurry up and get dressed or we're going to be late for school!" Ruby suddenly spouted out, looking up at the clock. She slapped Aqua on the shoulder to hint to him to hurry up, as she turned and ran out of the bedroom.

Aqua only watched her momentarily before he slowly turned and looked at the rest of the uniform he was putting on. Grabbing his coat, he held it up and looked it over, his eyes momentarily flashing with a hint of light.

"As if I needed even more reason to protect you…God, or the gods, or whatever higher being is doing this must really hate me, right Sarina?"
