The sun barely began to rise over the horizon when Anna began to wake. She let out a yawn stretched her arms and flexed her legs and feet. She was about to wake Fievel until she heard crying coming from the bedroom hall. Anna sped walked through the hall, feeling worried about Fievel. When she arrived at her bedroom, she saw Fievel wrestling with the covers before curling into a ball. He trembled like a leaf while crying and whimpering with fear. Anna immediately, but gently, scooped Fievel into her arms and cradled him close to her. She made a soft hushing sound to try and calm him down, but she stopped when she heard Fievel's voice.
"N-no! P-Prince Hans, p-please don't t-take me away!" Fievel cried. Anna gasped in shock, realizing he was having a nightmare about losing his family again. She was about to wake him up until he heard his small broken voice speak once more.
"P-please M-Momma! P-Papa! I l-love you! D-don't leave m-me! D-don't g-go! Please!"
That was all Fievel said before waking and breathing heavily. His teary eyes met with Anna's and he buried his face into her chest and let his tears flow free. Anna felt tears of her own fall as she closed her eyes and continued to make a soft hushing sound in Fievel's ear. She rocked him ever so gently as his tears continued to flow. After a few minutes, Fievel had calmed down a little, but still had tears streaming down his face. Anna very gently brushed the tears away with her thumb and rubbed his back to comfort him.
Fievel was about to speak until Anna said to him softly, "Shhh... It's okay, sweetheart. I'm here. Go back to sleep."
Fievel smiled at Anna and fell asleep in her embrace. Anna gently kissed him in the forehead placed him back in her bed. She very carefully tucked him in without waking him. Anna stood there and softly smiled at the little boy while gently stroking his hair until she heard a knock on her door. Giving Fievel one more kiss on the forehead, Anna looked to the door, which then opened, revealing Elsa in her nightgown and slippers.
Elsa looked concerned. "I heard screaming. What happened?"
Anna sighed and walked over to her sister. "I was on my way here to wake up Fievel, but when I came in, he was having another nightmare. He was trembling uncontrollably. When I got closer to him, he was crying and screaming like he did when I helped calm him from the last nightmare he had."
Elsa felt a pang of worry for Fievel. "Do you know what the nightmare was about?"
Anna nodded. "He was dreaming about the Eternal Winter and his parents dying from the cold. But there's more… He said something about Prince Hans."
Elsa's eyes widened. "Hans? What did he do?"
Anna took a deep breath, her voice shaking slightly. "Fievel told me that Hans was responsible for putting him in the orphanage. During the Eternal Winter, his parents were struggling, and they pleaded for help. Hans ignored their pleas. Fievel's parents didn't make it, and Hans made sure he was sent to the orphanage instead of helping him."
Elsa's face contorted with a mix of anger and sadness. "That monster… How could he be so heartless?"
Anna's tears began to flow freely now. "Oh, Elsa. I don't know how to help him. He's so scared and alone."
Elsa took Anna's hands in hers. "You're already helping him, Anna. You've given him a home and love. That's more than enough."
Anna sniffled and wiped her tears. "But what if it's not enough? What if he never gets over it?"
Elsa gently stroked her sister's hair. "Healing takes time, Anna. Just be patient with him. Show him that he's safe and loved here."
Anna nodded, feeling a bit reassured. "Thank you, Elsa. I needed to hear that."
Elsa smiled. "Anytime. Why don't we let him sleep a bit longer? He's had a rough night."
Anna nodded. "That's a good idea. He needs his rest."
The two sisters quietly left the room, closing the door softly behind them. They decided to let Fievel sleep in a bit longer, giving him the time he needed to recover from his nightmare. As they walked down the hall together, they discussed plans for the day, keeping their voices low so as not to disturb the sleeping boy.
After a few hours of talking and planning, Anna, who was dressed for the day, came back to the room to wake Fievel again. Fievel continued to sleep peacefully until Anna gently nudged him. Fievel opened his eyes and yawned. Anna then lifted him up and placed him on her lap. She smiled and looked into his eyes before asking, "Are you feeling better, sweetheart?"
Fievel nodded and laid his head against Anna's chest.
Anna stroked his arm with her hand for a few minutes before asking, "Would you like some lunch, sweetie?"
Fievel felt his stomach grumble and nodded his head.
Anna smiled. "Alright then, let's get you dressed."
Fievel got dressed quickly, and Anna picked him up, carrying him to the kitchen. She placed him on a chair and started preparing lunch. Soon, she set a bologna sandwich with green lettuce leaves and mustard in front of him. Fievel eagerly took a bite, savoring every bit of the sandwich.
"My, my. You looked like you were that hungry," Anna observed with a laugh. "Would you like another one?"
"Yes, please," Fievel responded politely.
Anna nodded and then made Fievel another sandwich, which he happily ate. After finishing the second sandwich, Fievel was full. Anna took the plate and other dishes to be washed later.
"Now, what shall we do next?" Anna pondered aloud, looking at Fievel.
Fievel thought for a moment. "Can we go outside and play?"
Anna smiled. "Of course! It's a beautiful day outside."
They headed out to the courtyard, where the sun was shining brightly. Anna suggested they play a game of hide-and-seek, which Fievel excitedly agreed to. They spent the next hour playing together, laughing and enjoying each other's company.
After a while, Anna noticed a small garden nearby. "How about we pick some flowers? We can make a bouquet for the dining table."
Fievel's eyes lit up. "That sounds fun!"
They wandered over to the garden and started picking flowers. Fievel carefully chose the brightest and most colorful blooms, handing them to Anna, who held them in her arms. They talked about the different types of flowers and their colors, Anna teaching Fievel as they went along.
With a beautiful bouquet in hand, they made their way back to the castle. "Let's put these in a vase and place them on the dining table. It will make everything look so cheerful," Anna suggested.
Fievel nodded enthusiastically. Together, they arranged the flowers in a vase and set it on the dining table, adding a touch of color and joy to the room.
As the afternoon went on, Anna decided it was time for a quieter activity. "How about we do some painting?" she asked.
Fievel's face lit up. "Yes! I love painting."
Anna found some paint, brushes, and canvas. They set up an easel in a well-lit room, with the afternoon sun streaming in through the windows. Fievel was excited to try out the different colors and brushes.
Anna showed him how to dip the brush into the paint and make smooth strokes on the canvas. They each started their own paintings, letting their imaginations run wild. Fievel painted a colorful scene of Arendelle, with the castle, mountains, and the fjord. Anna painted a portrait of Fievel, capturing his bright smile and sparkling eyes.
As they painted, they chatted about their favorite things and shared stories. Fievel told Anna about his dreams and what he hoped to do in the future, while Anna shared tales of her own childhood adventures with Elsa.
The painting session lasted for a couple of hours, with Fievel getting more and more creative with his use of colors and techniques. Anna was impressed with his talent and enthusiasm.
"Look, Anna! I painted the castle," Fievel said proudly, showing her his finished artwork.
"It's beautiful, Fievel! You did an amazing job," Anna praised, smiling warmly at him. "We'll have to hang this up in your room."
Fievel beamed with pride at her words. "Can we paint more often?"
"Of course, sweetheart. We can paint whenever you want," Anna assured him, giving him a gentle hug.
As the day started to wind down, they cleaned up their painting supplies and admired their finished pieces. Anna felt a deep sense of happiness and fulfillment, knowing she was making a positive difference in Fievel's life.
"Now, how about we head back to the kitchen and see what we can have for dinner?" Anna suggested.
Fievel nodded eagerly. "That sounds great!"
After a day full of fun activities, Anna and Fievel made their way back to the dining room. Anna decided to have the chef prepare a delicious meal of broccoli pasta with creamy pesto sauce for dinner. They enjoyed their meal, chatting and laughing as they ate.
After they finished eating, Anna asked the butler to take the dishes to be washed up, while Fievel went to fetch his painting. With the artwork carefully in his hands, he walked over to where Elsa was sitting in the living room, reading a book.
"Elsa, look what I made!" Fievel said excitedly, holding up his painting.
Elsa looked up from her book and smiled. "Oh, Fievel, that's beautiful! You did a wonderful job," she praised, taking a closer look at the colorful scene he had painted.
Fievel beamed with pride. "Anna helped me. We painted together."
"That's wonderful," Elsa said, glancing at Anna, who had just finished in the kitchen and joined them. "You both did an amazing job."
Anna sat down beside Fievel, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. "Fievel worked really hard on this. We thought it would look great here in the living room for now."
Elsa nodded in agreement. "I think that's a perfect idea. Let's find a special spot for it."
Together, they found a place on the wall in the living room to hang his painting. Fievel looked up at it with pride, feeling a sense of accomplishment.
"It's perfect," Anna said, giving Fievel a gentle squeeze. "Every time you look at it, you'll remember all the fun we had today."
Fievel smiled, feeling happy and content. "Thank you, Anna. Thank you, Elsa."
"You're very welcome, Fievel," Elsa said, giving him a warm smile. "We're so glad you're here with us."
Eventually, it was time for bed. When they finished hanging the painting, Anna took Fievel down the hall to give him a quick bath. When they were finished, Anna helped Fievel get ready, making sure he brushed his teeth and put on his pajamas. Then, she went to her bedroom to tuck Fievel in for the night. She placed him under the covers and before she could do anything else, she heard a small whimper and sniffles coming out of Fievel.
She sat on the bed and placed him in her lap before asking, "Fievel? Sweetie, what's wrong?"
Fievel let a few small tears flow free as he shook his head not wanting to answer the question.
Anna pulled him closer to her and stoked his side with her hand. Fievel laid his head against her soft chest until he could hear her heartbeat. It was so calming and gentle just like her loving embrace. Fievel didn't know why, but he felt safe and loved when Anna held him.
He looked up at Anna and said to her sadly, "I just miss my Momma and Papa, Anna."
Anna closed her eyes and softly hushed the little boy.
"Shhh... It's alright, Fievel, I know how you feel. My sister and I lost our parents when we were young."
Fievel gasped in shock and pulled away from Anna to look her in the eye.
"I'm sorry, Anna," He said.
Anna gently pulled him back into her embrace and hushed him once more.
"Shhh... It's okay, sweetheart. I was sad every day since we lost then. Elsa and I missed them greatly and I wished we could see them again. But I remembered my mother said something to me. Do you know what she said?"
Fievel remained in Anna's embrace as he shook his head in response to her question.
Anna smiled and said, "She told me that no matter how far apart we are, she would always be with me..." Anna gently placed a hand over Fievel's chest, where his heart was "...in here."
Fievel smiled and snuggled into Anna until he let out a yawn.
His eyes began to close, but he was able to say something before he fell asleep.
"When I'm with you, Anna, it feels like my Momma's right beside me, and my Papa."
Fievel fell asleep in Anna's embrace and tears stung Anna's eyes. She closed them as the tears flowed freely.
She continued to rub Fievel's side with her hand, and she began to softly sing into his ear the same song that her mother had sung to her and Elsa.
When she finished, she tucked Fievel in and kissed him on the forehead. "Goodnight, Fievel," she whispered. "Sweet dreams."
But instead of going for the couch or Elsa's, she laid down beside him and placed her arm over him. Fievel snuggled into her side and smiled while he slept. Anna gave Lightning a gentle loving smile and gave him one more kiss on the forehead. She then closed her eyes and fell asleep with Fievel snuggled up beside her.
In the quiet of the night, with Fievel safe in her arms, Anna felt a deep sense of peace and fulfillment. She knew that, together, they would heal and find happiness again. And as she drifted off to sleep, she dreamed of all the wonderful days they would share.
