Summary: Completely AU! Angelica Rose Smith (my OC) has been lifelong friends with Dean Winchester ever since they can remember. Castiel Novak comes into Angelica's life and threatens their bond. Will Angelica realize who has been there all along before it's too late? This will become a Castiel/OC romance story at first but then switches to Dean/OC middle end. Hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters just my OC Angelica and her parents, all else belongs to Eric Kripke, this is just for your enjoyment.
Chapter 1- Prologue
July 1987
Angelica Rose Smith was currently seven years old when she met someone new on the playground. She is smarter than most kids her age. She is a little taller than most too though she hardly eats her vegetables. Her eyes are blue like the ocean, and she has long brown hair.
The playground was a couple blocks away from her house, so she went there every chance she had. She loved the playground, especially on the weekend when she did not have to go to school. It was the day she met the one and only Dean Winchester who she immediately accepted as her friend, being so young and able to make friends quite well.
When they first met, she was sitting and talking with her sister Abigail on a park bench where they sat crisscross applesauce facing each other about the current book she was reading with the book going in many directions as she talked animatedly when a little boy approached.
"What are you reading?" said a tiny voice that startled her as she stopped talking to look away from her sister with the book in the air she was currently reading.
A little boy, who looked no older than four years old, who was holding a little book of his own with a stuffed teddy bear in his other hand, climbed up on the park bench next to her.
" Charlotte's Web," She responded as she began dog-earing the page showing him the cover of the book as she turned so she was facing the little boy. "What's your name?"
"Sam but my brother calls me Sammy," he said looking down at his own book before looking up at her. "What's your name?"
"Angelica but most people call me Angel," she said copying him and he smiled up at her. "This is my sister, Abigail but you can call her Abby like I do. What are you reading?"
" Green Eggs and Ham," he said handing the book to her as he cuddled closer. "Will you read it to me?"
She turned to her sister with a question on her face and her sister nodded, and she opened the book and started reading as she layed her arm around him.
Suddenly, she heard a frantic yelling. "SAMMY! SAMMY! WHERE ARE YOU?"
"He's over here!" she yelled back loud enough to be heard but not startle the little boy cuddled next to her.
"Sammy, what have I told you about wandering off?" he asked him before scooping him up, teddy bear and all, not acknowledging her yet. "I'm so glad you're okay-"
"He wanted someone to read him that book. My name is Angelica by the way," she said when she heard Abby clear her throat. "And this is my sister Abigail, but I call her Abby."
"Hy, I'm Dean," he said suddenly shyly as he extended his hand while still holding his brother. "We just moved here yesterday, and Sammy here seems to trust every young person he sees. I am sorry for that."
She did not hear his greeting because she was staring into his eyes and studying his features which makes her get elbowed by Abby, so she snaps out of it. She awkwardly takes his hand in hers and shakes it after dropping the book in her hand. All his attention was on her, and she was enjoying it.
"Well, I am Dean, Dean Winchester. Nice to meet you Angelica" He starts to say something to Abby but was interrupted by her.
"Call me Angel. My family calls me that," she replied. "You can be my friend if you want to."
"Really?"
She nods enthusiastically and smiled. "Really."
Abby piped up and said, "Yeah you can be both our friends."
"Hey, I called dibs first!"
Dean looked between the sisters then laughed and pretended to think. "Shouldn't I decide that?"
"Okay then, who do you choose?" asked the sisters at the same time looking at him with puppy eyes.
"Ang-"
In the middle of him saying her sister's name, Abby got up and stomped away as she started yelling. "Fine! You're not all that particularly handsome anyway."
She then walked back over and took Sam away from Dean asking him if he wanted her to read to him. Sam just clapped his hands and nodded his head holding his arms out for her to take him. She then sat on the bench holding Sam in her lap as she began reading.
"She'll get over it, but she might hold a grudge for a while."
"I suppose I should stay out of her way for a while, huh?"
Angel nods and gets up to stand by him and leans over and whispers in his ear, "She loves children. I think if you bring Sam here more often, she will get over it quickly more or less." She then gestures to where her sister and Sam are, and he looks too.
"How often do you come here?"
"We are here during school and on the weekend."
"Wanna hang out with me where her and Sammy are at near the swings?"
She nods excitedly as she gets up from the bench taking his hand as she started running dragging him along.
"Yeah, let's go! Come on! We can see who can go higher."
He let himself be dragged over to the swings close to Abby and Sam who both were still on the bench. Dean saw Abby look up and smile at him then look away. Perhaps he was forgiven already, only time would tell.
Neither she nor Dean knew that a new person would come into their lives and ruin their lifelong friendship in the years to come.
Tell me what you think! Should I have done something differently? As you can see, for some reason, I didn't show her parents here in this chapter, but they will show up and you will love them. I hope you'll learn to like my OC Angelica as time goes on. Castiel will be introduced in the next chapter. Remember to review, favorite, or follow.
