There was only one thing that mattered more than anything when you were giving a performance as a showman, and that was the crowd's reaction. Your entire career, even your very life, was tied to the laughs, cheers, boos, and gasps of the audience. Blitzo had to master the art of performing at a very young age, but he had the best teachers around: his family.

He turned to his older sister and twin, Tillie and Barbie Wire, who were chatting beside the elephants they would be using for their grand entrance. They wore pure white skin-tight outfits, just like him, only each had their names in red behind their backs along with red stripes to match their red skin. In order to show off his sisters beauty, blue roses were wrapped around their shoulders, and sparkling gems could be seen on their waits and chests. Strangely enough, Blitzo also had his own set of jewels which the other guys made fun of him for being so girly, but a guy could look pretty too if he wanted.

Barbie Wire looked to him and smirked. "Come on, Bro. We go on in five."

Nodding, Blitzo went over to the stepstool and got on Big Humphrey, who shook a bit before the imp calmed him down with some soothing pats. He looked to his sisters on both his left and his right side before smiling at them. Nodding to a nearby stagehand, their tent curtain slowly started rising up for their entrance as the band began to play their theme. Standing up on the big hairy beast, Blitzo closed his eyes and went through his breathing exercises as the ringmaster prepared his speech.

"And now, ladies and gentlemen, demons of all kinds, we present to you one of our death-defying and amazing acts of the night! Tillie, Blitzo, and Barbie Wire! The Amazing Imp Siblings!"

"Showtime!" Blitzo shouted as the curtains went wide open, and all three elephants stomped their way into the main tent.

A crowd of at least a few hundred demons cheered and clapped as the three siblings raised their hands and posed while keeping their balance on their rides. The band had to play louder to match the audience's cheers as the elephants quickly ran around the show ring's outer ring before heading for the middle. Three trapeze ropes came down from above, and the three imp siblings bowed to the crowd before grabbing them. Once they had their grip, they twirled in the air as the ropes lifted them up while the crowd gasped in awe. Once they were at the right height, Blitzo and Barbie Wire stopped swimming and used their momentum to swing to one side of the tent for their platform while Tillie went to the other one. Once they were in place, the three waved to the crowd before nodding to each other.

It was time to begin the act.

Even though he had done this hundreds of times with his siblings, it was always important to make sure everyone was ready and so, after the music started to increase in beat, Tillie gave her signal that she was about to begin while Blitzo and his twin gave their own. Tillie started swinging on her rope, extending her legs as far as possible. Barbie made a quick wave to the crowd before swinging down on her own rope before letting go at the end. She flipped in the air and caught her big sister's legs, holding on until she made it to the platform on the other end and posed while Tillie switched her position so that her legs were holding the rope instead of her hands. Blitzo licked his lips as he prepared for his turn. Once the timing was right, he swung down and went all the way into the air before doing a corkscrew and flip before falling. Extending his arms, he waited for Tillie to catch him. Just as always. A few seconds she did so, holding him tight as the crowd began to clap and cheer while Barbie had taken a second rope and swung to the other side with the help of the assistants on the platforms who had sent another rope for her to use to jump onto and grab so she could get across.

So far, the performance was going well, but they still had a lot more to do. Unlike his twin, Blitzo never let go of his sister's arms as he waited for the assistants down below to set up the giant trampoline. Once he saw the nod from Tillie, Blitzo let go in midswing and fell to the ground, which earned a gasp from the crowd. However, Blitzo wasn't worried as he posed a few times while falling. When he was close enough, he corrected his stance so he could land legs first on the trampoline. He bounced so high that he went back the way he came and held his arms out for his twin to grab him and swing him back to her platform on her rope.

He landed with a flip and quickly accepted a towel from the aid nearby as he wiped some sweat off his face and hands. Blitzo took a moment to take a deep breath and get ready for the next part of the act, where he had to catch both his sisters. Getting into position, Blitzo signaled he was ready while his sisters signaled back. He grabbed one of the ropes and quickly wrapped his legs around the bar so he could swing with his hands free. Both his sisters were still gaining momentum with their ropes, and the timing had to be just right.

Finally, at the right moment, Blitzo extended his arms and smiled, waiting for his sisters to come up and grab him. Only what he saw was not his sisters...

...or at least the sisters he knew.

Time slowed down as a look of horror appeared on Blitzo's face. His oldest sister was covered in blood and bruises with white stuff all over her face. A twisted and cracked smile with broken teeth and swollen gums was beaming at him while one of her eyes was hanging out by her socket. Her once smooth and luscious hair looked like it was torn apart by a set of scissors, while her outfit was ripped apart, showing her breasts and skin that was cut up with such jagged wounds that it was a miracle she was even moving. His twin sister was just as bad. A giant hole in her head shows the insides of her skull, brain matter, and bone mixed in with rotten skin. Her horns were crushed and breaking apart while her jaw was missing the entity, with her tongue limping out as blood gushing out.

So shocked by what he saw that Blitzo missed catching them until it was too late. He gasped in horror as his sisters fell to the ground, still smiling in their deformed forms and never once screaming. The trampoline was gone with nothing to stop their crash landing as the crowd shrieked and cried in horror. Blitzo himself started screaming his sisters' name until two large pools of blood emerged from the bodies connecting with the ground. He landed on the platform and nearly hurled over at the sight of his sister's broken corpses.

"D-Doctor! Someone get a doctor!" Blitzo shouted, gasping for air as his vision became overwhelmed by tears.

"It's too late...they're already dead..." A familiar voice whispered. "You failed to save them. Just as always, Blitzo. You just couldn't catch them that one time...and you can't catch them ever again."

Raising his head, Blitzo gasped upon seeing the speaker as he slowly found himself scuttling towards the edge. It was himself, only dressed in a black trenchcoat and looking older. No not older. The age he was supposed to be. The clothing he usually wore. Confused, Blitzo felt himself squirming against this copy of him whose eyes were pure black with a red iris in each eyeball that stared into his soul. A sinister toothy grin emerged from the copy's lips as he stared at the frightened Blitzo and leaned down with a laugh. "What's the matter, Blitzy? It's not like you haven't failed others before. You sisters. Your family. Your wife. All of them are failures of your own design."

"S-stay away!" Blitzo shouted, covering his face. "Y-You're not real! You're not real!"

"Oh, I am real, Blitzo. You know I am real," Blitzo's darker self whispered as he grabbed Blitzo by the neck and lifted him up with unnatural strength. "Because I am you!"

He then threw Blitzo off the platform, who screamed in horror as everything around him spun around without end. He wailed his arms and cried for help while falling...falling...falling...

"NOOOOO!" Blitzo shouted as he woke up gasped for air, his entire body sweating like crazy as he struggled to get out of whatever was holding him down. There were voices all around him, shouting at him or each other, but Blitzo didn't care. He just pushed them away and fell onto the cold-tiled floor before crawling as fast as he could towards some kind of exit. It was hard to see with his blurry vision due to a combination of tears and bright lights, but he managed to find himself a corner where he huddled down and took deep breaths.

"Get back! Just give him some time to breathe and relax!" A voice cried out. Not the scary voice of his other self, but one that was also familiar. One that had more trust in its name. Blitzo closed his eyes and tried to breathe, but it felt like his heart was about to explode, and his mind was telling him to keep running. Was he back at the circus? Or was he somewhere else?

"Mr. Blitz?" The new voice asked, kind and gentle. "Mr. Blitz, are you okay?"

Why did he call him Blitz? His name was Blitzo. Wait, was it? Was the "o" silent?

"Sir, you were having another nightmare. It's okay. You're awake now."

"N-Nightmare?" Blitzo whispered as he slowly opened his eyes. Before the sobbing imp was a doctor, dressed in a white coat with one of those medieval plague doctor masks for a face. Behind him were three nurses, all of whom had scratch marks on their arms and ripped clothing.

Feeling wetness on his fingernails, Blitzo looked at his hands and saw that they were dripping with blood. At first, he thought that this was his blood, but he saw no wounds on his body. Guilt began to worm into his chest as he closed his eyes and wept. Everything was now clear to him once again. Who he was. Where he was.

And why he was here.

"Blitz..." The doctor reached out to touch him, but Blitzo turned away. He didn't want to be touched. Not by him or anyone. "Sir...listen...we're here to help you."

"Get away!" Blitzo shouted, sobbing into his hands and shaking his head. His tail wrapped around in a vain effort to shield himself from the world. "Just leave me the fuck alone!"

"...Okay," The doctor said, slowly back off with his hands in the air. "Do you want us to call someone to talk to you? Someone from your family?"

Family?

His family was dead.

His mother. Father. Sisters. All dead because of him.

Zella was gone too. His beautiful wife. He'd give anything to feel her soft scaled touch again.

Then there was...others...they weren't dead.

Moxxie. Millie. Stolas. And...and...

"I want my baby..." Blitzo sobbed as he covered his face in shame. "I want Loona. I want my baby girl..."
