"Have you heard?"
"Heard what?" Steve looked up from the stack of tapes he was supposed to be sorting as Robin sidled over. She punched his arm and with an irritated sigh he looked up to see her pointing across the store. Eddie was browsing one of the isles, deep in thought by the way his brow was furrowed. "Eddie?"
"Yeah, Eddie." She looked at him expectantly, then scoffed when Steve only shrugged. "He's dating someone!"
"So?"
"Oh, I'm sorry," Robin lifted herself onto the counter and grabbed a twizzler. "The fact that Eddie Munson is getting more action than you doesn't bother you?"
"No. Does it bother you?"
"Yes! I wanna know where he picked the guy up!" Her eyes went wide, twizzler hanging from her lips. "Uh, shit, did you know?"
Steve laughed and she relaxed. "Yeah, I know. Christ, Robs, you and your big mouth."
"Anyway, the point is, how did he find a gay guy in this hellhole? Betcha he knows where to find the girls too."
"Now that, Buckley, I can't help you with." She jumped, falling off the counter and into Steve's arms as he moved to catch her. Eddie cackled and leaned over to grin at them. "It was more of a case of me getting swept off my feet than anything. I'm just along for the ride."
"Lucky," Robin muttered. "I wish some hot chick would come in and rock my world too."
"Now, now, I never said he was rocking my world." Eddie ducked as Steve threw a twizzler at him. "But he is, thank you for asking."
"Ugh, I so don't want to know."
Eddie turned his attention to Steve instead, batting his eyelashes as he rested his chin in one palm. "What about you, pretty boy? How's your world?"
Steve rolled his eyes and bit into his twizzler with a shrug. "Boring."
"Shame." Eddie clucked his tongue sympathetically, eyes focusing on the sweet. In a smooth motion, he leaned forward to bite the end off, almost touching Steve's lips with his own. "Wanna come over later and I'll change that for you?"
"Sounds like a date." Steve grinned, ignoring Robin's flabbergasted noises from beside him. "Got a movie?"
"I hope you like it." Steve rang him up, both cracking up as their eyes met. "I'm sorry," Eddie gasped. "Have you seen Robin's face?"
Steve took one look at her and burst into laughter. Her eyes narrowed as she looked between them. "What the hell?!"
"Sorry, Robs, I was gonna tell you," Steve wheezed. "But Eddie insisted we mess with you instead. I couldn't say no."
"Great, my best friend gets a guy instantly," She muttered. "Meanwhile, I'm still single and haven't had my first kiss! So unfair."
"Like I said, Steve here just picked me up. I'm quite happy to take you into the city to find a nice girl?"
"Next weekend?"
"It's a date!"
"Uh, no it's not." Steve glared at them both. "Besides, no way am I letting some freaky chick take advantage of you Robs. I'm coming too."
"Gah, do I need a babysitter?"
"Yes."
"I'll keep him busy, don't you worry." Eddie slung an arm over Steve's shoulders and kissed his cheek. "I'll wear something so tight he won't be able to keep his eyes off me." Steve made a noise in the back of his throat, trying not to imagine that. "Keep that thought for later," Eddie whispered before letting him go. "Later, losers!"
As the door swung shut behind him, Robin turned and punched Steve on the arm. "Ow! What was that for?"
"For not telling me you were dating Eddie!"
"Well, I'm dating Eddie. Happy now?"
"No!" She pouted and folded her arms. "I want a gay romance too. You make everything look easy."
"What can I say? I got that Harrington Charm." Steve watched Eddie's van leave the parking lot and smiled to himself. "Don't worry, Robs, we'll find you a nice girl next weekend."
