Eddie had hugged everyone in the group.

Except Steve.

It wasn't like he didn't want to hug Steve. Eddie wanted to very much. But he was Steve Harrington and Eddie was... well he was Eddie Munson. It wasn't like they didn't touch. They were always trading back and forth with nudges, an arm slung over shoulders or hair ruffling. Steve hated that one but Eddie loved messing up his perfect hair.

So he was only a little jealous when Steve swept Robin into his arms on Graduation day, spinning her as she laughed and held on around his neck. "Steve, put me down!"

He did after a moment, smile heartbreakingly beautiful. "Congrats, Rob."

"Yeah, yeah." She rolled her eyes and swept her hair back from her flushed face. "Don't get too mushy. My parents are watching."

Steve stepped back quickly and caught sight of Nancy, rushing to hug her too. He wasn't quite as dramatic but she was still smiling as she hugged him back.

"Eddie!" Someone smaller hugged him, slamming into his stomach and he stumbled back.

"Oof, careful, Henderson!" Eddie grinned and patted his back. "You came?"

"Of course! We all did." Dustin indicated the rest of the boys who all grinned and waved. "Wasn't sure you could actually do it though."

"Rude." He leaned closer and whispered. "They probably wanted to get rid of me."

"You'll still be our DM?"

"Sure thing, butthead. Got a place for us to hang?"

Dustin glanced at Steve, his smile turning devious. "Yeah, I got something."

"Go easy on him." Eddie ruffled his hair and Dustin stepped back, pulling a face. "Looks better like that."

"Don't mind him, Henderson. Eddie has no concept of good hair." Eddie jumped as Steve's arm wound around his side, pulling him closer. "Go see the girls too."

Dustin looked between them, his smile widening before he nodded and ran off.

Steve waited until he was out of earshot before turning to smile at Eddie. "You did it, Munson."

"Why does everyone sound so surprised?" Eddie's exasperation quickly turned to shock when Steve hugged him, arms flailing for a moment before coming to rest around his shoulders. "I, um, thanks."

Steve quickly let go and stepped back, clearing his throat. "Sorry, should've asked."

"No! No, I mean, it's fine." Eddie laughed, aware of how awkward he was being and clutched his diploma tightly. "My very first Steve hug, I'm honoured." Something shifted in Steve's expression, his smile fading and Eddie hurried on. "N-not that I mind or y'know have noticed. You just don't normally… hug me."

Maybe the ground would open up and swallow him whole.

"Do you want me to hug you?"

"I'm not… opposed to the idea." Yes, all the fucking time. Eddie bit back that response.

"Eddie…" Steve paused and looked around. Nobody was paying attention to them but he still grabbed Eddie's arm and led him into an empty classroom. "So you're fine with hugs? Because I want to- to hug you."

"Yeah, that's fine." Eddie wasn't sure why this conversation needed a private room but maybe Steve was embarrassed. "You can hug me." And he held out his arms.

Steve shook his head. "No, Eddie. I want to hug you. I just don't think you want to hug me."

"You're gonna have to be more specific, Steve." Eddie's eyes widened and his pulse skyrocketed as Steve moved closer, hands coming up to hold his face gently. When his eyes flickered down to Eddie's mouth he uttered a quiet, "oh."

"Yeah, oh," Steve whispered.

Summoning all his courage, Eddie smiled and got out, "I'm not opposed to that kind of hug either. Any hug from you, really."

"What if I want to give you all my hugs?"

All the hugs. Eddie had to suppress a shiver at the thought. "Pretty much what I just said. Now can you shut up and kiss - sorry hug - me?"

He could feel Steve's smile as their lips met and grabbed the back of his shirt to pull him closer. "I've been wanting to do that for ages," Steve murmured against his lips and this time, Eddie shivered.

"Not as long as me, I can promise you that."

"I knew it!" They sprang apart to find Dustin in the doorway, pointing a finger at them victoriously. "Oh, I'm gonna be rich! I was the only one who bet you'd get together!"

"What the fuck?" Eddie muttered as Steve laughed. "Get outta here, butthead. You're interrupting the best moment of my life."

"I thought graduating was the best moment of your life?" Steve asked as Dustin ran off, his laughter echoing back to them.

"Close second." Eddie yanked on Steve's shirt to bring him into another kiss. "Now, where were we?"
