Ruby's P.O.V

I awoke to the shrill beeping of my alarm clock, reaching over to my small nightstand, I felt around until I found the off button. I groaned softly and went to sit up but a weight on my chest made me look down to see my cat, Kinako. I groaned and slowly wriggled out from under my bedsheets, being careful not to disturb Kinako. Getting up I stretched and yawned as I walked over to my closet to find an outfit to where to school. I pulled out a simple black knee-length skirt, a black T-shirt, a pair of black boots and some red tights. Slipping the outfit on, I slipped on my wolf head necklace and my shiny red cat ears and finally, I put my wine-red hair into two french braids. Then, grabbing my black backpack witch had a white cat on it with the words 'sassy cat' written on it. I put the bag over my shoulders and grabbed my earbuds and cellphone from my ruby-red dresser. Waving a quick farewell to my parents and made my way to Sapphire's house where we would wait for the school bus to come and pick us up.

As we waited for the bus, Sapphire was telling me about this club that she was thinking of joining. I was only half-listening, and she seemed to notice this because she waved her hand in front of my face. "Ugh! Ruuuuby! Come on, why don't you like joining clubs? Look girl, I know that you're painfully shy around new people but you need to learn to get to know peeps your own age." I sighed and stared down at my feet. That was a sore spot for me and Sapphire's icy-blue eyes widened and she gave me a tight hug. "Oh, my StarClan! I'm so sorry I brought that up, and I'm sorry about your family situation." She said with a sad look on her face.

Once the bus finally did come, Sapphire and I got on and the two of us took our usual seats near the back as the bus pulled away from Sapphire's driveway. I put my earbuds in and plugged them into my phone to listen to some music. The kids were loud and there voices were cutting through the faint music that was faintly heard from my small earbuds. My song of choice was from a game that I have been obsessed with for quite some time, the song is called "Poison Blooms" and it's based on this game called Poppy Playtime. Pretty soon I felt a tap on my shoulder and removing my earbuds from my ears, my hazel-brown eyes snapped up to meet the icy-blue ones of Sapphire. "What?" I asked with an exasperated look on my face. Sapphire groaned and playfully shoved my arm. "Well little miss sassy cat!" she teased me with a roll of her eyes. "We're at school so come on and let's get our lazy butts to class." Sapphire said in a joking tone of voice. I sighed and rolled my eyes in exasperation but I followed my friend into the school building nonetheless.

By the end of 2nd period, I found myself being dragged to the upstairs club room usually meant for the older kids. Sapphire knocked on the door and a girl with pink hair styled into pigtails was the one who answered the door. "Hello, are you two girls interested in joining the literature club?" The girl asked us with a bubbly smile on her face. I hesitated but seeing the bright smile on the girl's face I nodded with a wide grin forming on my face. "Yeah, we wanna join the literature club." I told the girl. And that's how Sapphire and I were introduced to Monika, Natsuki, Sayori, and Yuri. The four girls who were all part of the club. But little did Sapphire and I know that things would soon start to become very strange and outright terrifying as if we were in a horror movie.

"So... uh... what exactly is this club about?" Monika giggled and patted me on the head. I blushed yet again and lowered my head and stared at the floor. Oh my gosh! Monika is kinda cute! Wait, what? Eew! No! No! No! No! Gross! We're both girls! What the hell is wrong with my brain? I'm not fucking gay! I'm as straight as a damn pencil! I shook my head to clear my thoughts as I zoned back into my conversation with Monika. "We write poetry and at the end of the week, there's a festival that happens every year and we enter our poetry into the show to show people that even though we might be unique, we still try to put our work out there for everyone to see it." Monika explained, and the whole time she was talking a bright and bubbly smile was always on her face.

It was silent for a while before Sapphire spoke up to break the ice. "So, are you the club president, Monika?" Sapphire asked the other girl. I sighed and nudged Sapphire in the gut with my elbow. "No dah, Sherlock." I hissed under my breath. Sapphire glared at me and hit me on the shoulder. "Where are your manners, Rubes?" She said with a sideways glance to Monika and the other girls.

I sighed and put my hands behind my back. "Please forgive me for my rudeness, Monika-chan." I said with a sheepish grin on my face. But instead of her being mad at me like I had expected, she simply just smiled warmly at me and I found myself once again staring at the floor. "My name's Ruby, and this is my best friend, Sapphire." I said with a small smile on my face as I looked up at Monika.
