AN: So... i really liked the Furiosa movie. I wondered what happened if Furiosa and Jack had not been chased by Dementus.
Promise me you'll find your way home.
Furiosa!
Sand.
Sand and dust all over her as she regains consciousness.
She emerges from the pile of dust, half crawling, half stumbling as her hands reflexively push back the sand and her mouth gasps for air. Retching, she tries to get back to her feet and immediately falls to her knees, memories surging back to her mind.
Bullet Farm.
The echoing sounds of rumbling resonate around her, along with the familiar roaring of an engine she's heard for a few years, now.
The War Rig.
Dementus.
She tries to distinguish the Rig through the cloud of dust in the mine. The vehicle has soared through the tower Dementus was on, probably right after he had shot the rocket at her. The Great Dementus was now hanging from a torn rail, trying to get back on the platform.
Stumbling back to her feet on the unsteady pile of rubble, Furiosa follows the sight of the Rig. The top of its main tank is hooked with the crumbling tower crane, and the vehicle is slowly sliding down the cliff into the ring below.
And with it, Praetorian Jack.
She grabs the closest bike laying in the rubble, praying for it start. When the engine cackles then roars, she hops on and yanks the speed up, grabbing the hook it was tied with.
Her heart pounds hard in her chest while she rushes towards the Rig. The mighty truck seems to be swallowed into the hole, more and more wheels spinning into nothingness, slowly approaching the tipping point. She pushes faster, taking the risk to hit a hole or a rock too hard. Approaching the driver's cabin at full speed, she can distinguish Jack steering the wheel and manipulating the Rig's side shovels, planting them into the ground.
The Rig is almost off the cliff and for a split second, it is dangling in the air, only held by the crane.
That split second was the time she needed.
"Jack!"
Her shout is drowned in the gigantic noise of the tower crumbling, following the Rig and the crane it is still attached to.
She has thrown the hook to Jack and he's lunged for it; but he and the Rig have both disappeared down the cliff and if he has caught it, she has to keep on driving to give him a chance.
A weight pulls her bike back. So hard that even with full brakes, it almost brings her off the cliff, too.
When her back wheel is finally stalled at the edge of the rocks, she starts back forward, slowly pulling up the hook and whatever it has caught in its fall. Down below, the noise of the Rig and tower hitting ground deafens all.
Jack.
He emerges from the rocks just as the cloud of dust whooshes from the whole ring. As soon as he can regain foot, he stumbles to her and she uses those few seconds to assess any wounds; none visible. His arms are then around her waist and they are off to the main gate.
As they drive around the ring and next to the half-crumbled tower, she can not help but slow down as to what lay on the other side of it.
Dementus is still dangling from the rail, lava spilling from the base of the tower and slowly spreading below him.
"What are you doing?" Jack presses in her back, sensing her slowing down.
She stalls the bike, thinking fast. Clear memories of her time with Dementus soar through her mind. The chases. The torturing and massacres. Only the wicked and insane could ride with him and the traitors went through a living hell.
"Stay here," she instructs Jack with a low voice, before stepping down and pulling out her shot gun.
"Furiosa-"
She is not listening. Her mind is far away, back into that cage. She remembers the days passing by and the hate building up in her. She remembers watching the dogs grow up, eating human flesh and wishing they would eat his, instead. She remembers seeing her mother with half open eyes, held open by his dirty fingers while he held her head to make her watch.
"You no-good bastards, stink-tainted pricks! I'll make you pay for this! My Bullet Farm!"
Bile rises up her throat. She has imagined this many times, but not like that.
She aims at his head. Lowers a bit after a second.
"This is for my mother."
The shot rings through the ring, up and down the cliff. She turns her back while Dementus falls into the lava, screaming of pain, then agony.
Jack has taken the driver's seat. A clamour rises from the bottom of the ring while they drive to the main gate.
Near the tower, some cars and people have gathered around the lava, shouting and pointing at them. But what would they do without their leader?
They slide through the gate and reach the V8. She takes the driver's seat and makes the engine roar, while he stores the rifle on his lap, and scans her for injuries. She gives him a nod as an answer and slams the speed.
She feels numb but the metal of the wheel brings her back some feeling into her hands.
"We're good."
And this time, it felt like they were.
Hope you enjoyed!
