AITA for pursuing my dream instead of letting it die in a farming village out in the middle of nowhere?
With the blessing of my wife - and I would've never gone without her say so - I left my dead end hometown to chase my ambitions and prove myself to the world. In the years that followed, I have been successful beyond my wildest dreams! Along with my crew, I'm internationally respected in my chosen field. I've been headhunted by others for my unique abilities and my market value is through the roof.
If I had stayed in Foosha, I would have spent the rest of my life scaring wolves away from the sheep with my slingshot.
None of this seems like a problem, right? I didn't think so until I was at a bar one night and I was showing off a picture of my son. I couldn't be prouder of him! He has gone into the same line of work as me and is now making quite a name for himself. Like father, like son. I was showing off his bounty picture and the woman told me I was a "deadbeat dad" and asked me why I was flirting with her if I had a wife?
I was shocked! I sent Bachina money whenever I could! And then I sent money to the villagers when she died, like any good father would. At that point, the woman threw a beer in my face and said I was despicable.
Bachina and my son were/are proud of me, but with other people being so judgmental, I'm nervous to reunite with my son. AITA for pursuing my dream?

YTA. Yeah, there's no doubt about it. Look how you buried the lede, there buddy. Reading between the lines, your wife died (?!) and you didn't come back for your kid? Seriously? Who raised him? The wolves you didn't scare away with your slingshot?
You could've sent all the berri in the world, but it doesn't make you a father. Your son is obviously trying to bond with you in the saddest way possible by being like you. It's kinda heartbreaking. Imitation as wish fulfillment. And maybe your dead wife told
you to go fulfill your dreams because she knew you'd be a big man baby if you didn't get to run off and have fun. You left her to raise a kid by herself, alone, with no chance to pursue her own dreams.
It sounds like you didn't even come back for her funeral? I bet your son could've used his father then. Or maybe not because you don't sound terribly invested in him, just in his bounty poster as a way to pick up chicks. Good on this lady, whoever she is! I'd
throw a beer in your face too.
