23rd of Tarsakh:

Traveling through the Kryptgarden forest hasn't been the easiest since there is no trail. I have a pretty good direction sense and worked with Swift, who remembered most of the way he came, to get us back to the Carnath Roadhouse. I haven't sensed the presence of the undead, so we feel certain there are no more in the area.

In the evenings after dinner, Swift has been teaching me to fight with a mace. He is a good teacher and has been very patient. Yukouth and Elisha have taken turns sparring with me. It almost feels like home, practicing shooting crossbows with Envon and my parents.

While we're sparing, Adrala and Israel have been working hard to recreate the spell they found to use on her axes. It's been fascinating to watch them discuss and experiment with magic together. I expect Adrala will be casting spells of her own soon.

Tonight while sparring with Elisha we overheard Adrala and Israel discussing how to proceed.

"It's going to take some time to cast the spell to create a bond with your handaxes. I think it's going to require quite a few material components as well. And you may need to cast it at a specific time of the day. There really are a lot of variables we need to account for." Israel said.

"I agree there are a lot of variables, but I don't think it will be that complicated. I think I'll just need an hour to do the ritual." Adrala stated.

"Well possibly, but I think we should take a little more time and make sure…"

Adrala interrupted with a smile, "Why do you have to make things so complicated all the time?"

"I just want to make sure we're safe. I would feel horrible if something went wrong and you were hurt."

Adrala blushed, "You're so sweet. But this is not the only time. Remember when we were packing up yesterday morning?"

Israel turned bright red, "Well everything worked out in the end."

She gave him one of her huge grins and leaned into him, "It did, didn't it."

Israel, even more red, pointed to the book they had been looking over and brought Adrala's attention back to the work they were doing.

Elisha turned to the rest of us and smiled, "I'm happy for him. He doesn't open up to many people."

"Yes," Swift agreed, "It's astonishing how much more he talks with her than the rest of us."

Elisha laughed, "He certainly does. In fact, I'm pretty sure he talks more with Adrala than he does with me, his own brother."

We all laughed.

"Watching the two of them reminds me of the early days with Amnel," Elisha said with a faraway smile, "Well we should all head to bed and leave the two of them to their watch."

We agreed. As we were settling in Elisha reminded Israel to wake him and Yukouth for their watch.
