Cousins are Staying
The next morning in Iki Town, Lincoln and Lynn Jr were stepping out of Kahuna Hala's house to start their day.
"What should we do today?" asked Lynn.
"We have some time before your new Z-Ring is done, so maybe we can meet up with our cousins and hang out before they and our Uncle Lance and Aunt Sharon leave." said Lincoln with a frown growing on his face as he mentions their relatives will be leaving soon.
"That stinks." said Lynn. "We just got to hang out with them after five years."
"I know." Lincoln replied. "But what can we do? They were only here on vacation with their parents."
"I guess." said Lynn.
"Let's head over to their hotel and look for them." said Lincoln. As the two Loud siblings head towards Hau'oli City; at the hotel, in Lance's family's room, the Loud cousins were sadly packing their suitcases.
"I can't believe our vacation is almost over." said Shane as he folds one of his beach towels.
"I really liked hanging out with Lincoln and Lynn." said Shelby.
"It's not fair." said Shiloh. Outside the cousins' room, Lance and Sharon were listening in on them.
"Honey, do we really have to leave?" Sharon asked Lance.
"We were only going to be here for two weeks, Shar-Shar." Lance replied. "And I don't like having my gym closed for too long."
"I know." said Sharon. "But it breaks my heart seeing our kids so unhappy."
"I thought I was strong in heart, but not even it could handle seeing Shiloh, Shelbs, and Shane sad." said Lance.
"And they really liked hanging out with Lincoln, Lynn, and all their Pokemon." said Sharon.
"But what can we do?" asked Lance. Sharon thinks for a while before looking into her purse and pulling out some American currency.
"Remember something that Lincoln told us about the exchange rate between our money and pokedollars?" asked Sharon.
"Yeah; thirty American dollars is equal to twenty-five thousand pokedollars." said Lance with astonishment in his voice. Sharon then pulls out one hundred US dollars.
"I have an idea." said Sharon. She and Lance began talking to each other and both come up with an arrangement.
"Kids, come in here." said Lance. The Loud cousins drag their feet into their parents' room with sad faces.
"Yeah, Dad?" replied Shane.
"We have something to discuss with you all." said Sharon with a smile.
Meanwhile, Lincoln and Lynn were outside the main doors of the hotel their relatives were staying at.
"Let's try to enjoy hanging out with our cousins as much as we possibly can today." said Lincoln.
"Yeah." said Lynn. Just then, the front doors burst open and their cousins come running towards them with smiles on their faces.
"CELEBRATORY CANNONBALL!" said Shiloh as he leaps up and comes down onto Lincoln and Lynn while tucked into a ball, making them fall to the ground.
"Wow, you must want to hang out with us today." said Lincoln with a smile.
"We'll be hanging out with you all a lot longer than just today!" said Shelby as she and Shane come over to Lincoln and Lynn and give them a group hug.
"What do you mean?" asked Lynn. Just then, Lance and Sharon come walking out of the hotel and over to them.
"Hi, Uncle Lance and Aunt Sharon." said Lincoln.
"We have something to talk to you all about." said Sharon.
"What?" replied Lincoln.
"Our kids will be staying here with you for a while." said Lance with a smile, making Lincoln and Lynn's eyes widen at the fact.
"They are?!" asked Lincoln with excitement.
"Yeah, our babies seemed really upset about having to leave you and Lynn Jr so soon." said Sharon.
"So, we felt it would be a good idea to have them stay with you guys for a while." said Lance.
"AWESOME!" cheered Lincoln. Sharon and Lance each hold out one hundred American dollars to him.
"Can you help us get this exchanged for pokedollars?" asked Lance.
"We'll use what we get to pay for a hotel room for our kids to last them a long time." said Sharon. "Maybe you two can stay with them also, it is a big room with plenty of space."
"Sure!" said Lincoln.
"Sweet!" said Lynn.
"And you all did find those Pearls and that Star Piece yesterday during the Stoutland Treasure Hunting." said Lincoln.
"That's right!" said Shane.
"We can sell them for more money!" said Shelby.
"And I can sell the Big Nugget I found yesterday to help with expenses also." said Lincoln.
"And can you also help them get enrolled in the Pokemon School, Lincoln?" asked Sharon.
"No problem." Lincoln replied.
"Maybe you two can help our kids capture some Pokemon?" suggested Lance.
"They did each find a pokeball yesterday." said Lincoln.
"We can help them." said Lynn.
"Thanks, you two." said Sharon.
"How about you two go back to Iki Town, get your stuff, and bring it back here?" suggested Lance.
"We'll do that after we catch Pokemon for Shane, Shelby, and Shiloh." said Lincoln.
"Get the money exchanged first before you do." said Sharon.
"Okay." said Lynn.
"After that, we'll head over to Route 1 and look for Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Sharon.
The Louds start walking towards their destination; as they go , they see Lincoln's Alola friends running over to them.
"Alola, everyone!" said Mallow.
"Alola!" the Louds replied.
"What are you all up to?" asked Sophocles. Lincoln then explains to them what Uncle Lance and Aunt Sharon did.
"That's nice of them to do that for their kids." said Lillie.
"I know!" said Lincoln.
"Can we come along with you?" asked Alola Lana.
"Sure." said Lincoln. Once they get the money that Uncle Lance and Aunt Sharon gave them exchanged for pokedollars, they stop by a Pokemon Center to buy some more pokeballs for the cousins for future use.
They also stop by the Pokemon School to get the cousins enrolled; as they enter the gate, they hear some rustling in some nearby bushes.
"What's that?" asked Shelby. They look to see a bipedal, purple, catlike Pokemon with a gold charm on its forehead come walking out. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and holds it out towards it.
"Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokemon. It's impulsive, selfish, and fickle. It's very popular with some Trainers who like giving it the attention it needs." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"It's so furry!" said Shelby.
"Do you want it?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes, please!" said Shelby.
"I'll battle it." said Lynn as she takes out her Makuhita's pokeball and lets her out of it.
"Do it, cuz!" said Shane. The Meowth suddenly moves towards Makuhita and claps its paws together in front of Makuhita, releasing a shockwave that hits Makuhita, making her flinch; the Meowth then scratches Makuhita across her chest with its claws.
"Don't take that, Makuhita; use Force Palm!" said Lynn. Makuhita runs at Meowth while a ball of white light forms in front of her palm; she thrust her palm into Meowth, dealing super effective damage, and knocking it to the ground.
"I think it's weak enough for you to capture now, Shelby." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Shelby as she takes out a pokeball and throws it at Meowth, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times before it clicks.
"You did it, Shelby!" said Lincoln. Shelby walks over to Meowth's pokeball and picks it up with a stunned look on her face, which was soon replaced with a happy look.
"I did it! I caught a Pokemon!" cheered Shelby, holding up her Meowth's pokeball. Lincoln uses his Rotom Phone to look up Shelby's Meowth's information.
"This says your Meowth's a girl, she knows Scratch, Growl, Bite, and Fake Out; she has the Pickup ability which gives her a chance of finding items after a battle." said Lincoln. Shelby puts her Meowth's pokeball away and the group went into the Pokemon School.
Moments later, after the group went down the slide, they exited the school's gate.
"Well, you guys; you're now offically students of the Pokemon School." said Lincoln.
"Awesome." said Shane.
After leaving the Pokemon School, they arrived at Route 1 and start looking around; they immediately spot a Pikipek.
"Who wants this one?" asked Lincoln.
"I'll take it." said Shane.
"Aw, man." said Shiloh.
"You'll get one soon." said Lincoln. He takes out his Lycanroc's pokeball and lets him out. "Lycanroc, use Crush Claw!" Lycanroc runs at the Pikipek and swipes down on it with his front paw, slamming it into the ground.
"Try catching it, Shane!" said Lynn. Shane nods and throws a pokeball at the Pikipek, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"I did it!" said Shane. As he picks up his new Pokemon's pokeball, Lincoln looks up its information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says your Pikipek's a boy, he knows Peck and Growl, and he has the Skill Link ability that allows a move that hits multiple times at once to do so the most times it could." said Lincoln.
As they look around some more, Lincoln sees a Bonsly that notices them; it suddenly cries out, making a small, pink, egg-shaped Pokemon with a ponytail, wearing dark pink leggings with a white waistline, coming out of some grass.
"I have a feeling Lola would like this Pokemon." said Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Happiny, the Playhouse Pokemon. Usually it's a well-behaved Pokémon, but if you take its round rock away, it will cry and fuss and throw a big old tantrum." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Definitely reminds me of Lola." said Lincoln.
"Better catch it if she finds out about it and gets upset if you don't." said Lynn. Lincoln takes out his Herdier's pokeball and lets him out of it; it growls at the Happiny, making it nervous.
"Herider, use Tackle, but be gentle." said Lincoln. Herdier moves at a somber pace towards the Happiny and lightly bumps it, knocking it over. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Happiny, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, Lincoln!" said Shelby. Lincoln looks up his newly captured Pokemon's information on his Rotom Phone.
"Happiny's a girl, she knows Pound, Charm, Copycat, Refresh, and Sweet Kiss; she has the Serene Grace ability which increases the chance of a move having a secondary effect." said Lincoln.
"What about the Bonsly?" asked Lynn.
"I got it." said Shelby. She tosses her Meowth's pokeball and lets her out of it.
"Bonsly's a rock type, so the only move that Meowth would know that would work well enough on it is Bite." said Lincoln.
"Okay." said Shelby. "Okay, Meowth, use Bite!" Meowth leaps at Bonsly and bites it, dealing damage. Bonsly responds by jumping at Meowth and kicking her, dealing super effective damage to her. "Use Bite again!" Meowth bites Bonsly again, damaging it, and knocking it to the ground.
"I think it's weak enough, Shelby." said Lincoln.
"Okay, Lincoln." said Shelby. She takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Bonsly, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around until it clicks. Shelby runs to the pokeball and picks it up. "Yay! I caught a Bonsly!" Lincoln looks up Bonsly's information on his Rotom Phone.
"Your Bonsly's a boy, he knows Fake Tears, Copycat, Flail, Low Kick, and Rock Throw; he has the Rock Head ability which prevents recoil damage." said Lincoln.
"Recoil damage?" asked Shelby.
"There are some moves that causes damage to the Pokemon using one." said Lincoln. "But I don't think your Bonsly knows any moves that causes recoil damage yet."
"Sounds like we got a lot to learn at the Pokemon School." said Shane.
The group then hears some rustling in some nearby grass, they look in it to see a bunch of Rockruff's wrestling around.
"Can you help me catch one of those, Lincoln?" asked Shiloh.
"Sure." said Lincoln as he pulls out a pokeball and throws it, releasing his Phantump.
"Go for it, Lincoln." said Lynn.
"Okay, Phantump, use Confuse Ray!" said Lincoln. Phantump forms brownish-gold orbs of energy around her and she launches them at Rockruff; they hit it and it begins to stumble around. Rockruff leaps at Phantump and bites her, dealing super effective damage.
"Phantump, Feint Attack!" said Lincoln. Phantump leaps to the side and disappears; she reappears near Rockruff and hits it, knocking it to the ground. Rockruff charges at Phantump, but it goes through her.
"I guess that Rockruff tried to use Tackle." said Lynn. "Too bad for Rockruff, normal type moves don't work on ghost Pokemon."
"Phantump, Astonish!" said Lincoln. Phantump flies at Rockruff and makes a scary face at it, startling it off balance and making it fall to the ground, hurting itself; it struggles to get up. Lincoln turned towards Shiloh and nods; he nods back and throws an empty pokeball at Rockruff, hitting it, and sucking it in. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks.
"Awesome! I caught a Rockruff!" said Shiloh. Lincoln looks up Rockruff's information.
"Okay, Shiloh; your Rockruff's a boy, he knows Tackle, Leer, Sand Attack, Bite, and Howl." said Lincoln. "He has the Vital Spirit ability which prevents him from falling asleep during battle from attacks that causes the sleep status condition."
Lynn looks at another Rockruff and thinks back to Olivia's Lycanroc; deciding it would be a good Pokemon to have during the Battle Royale Tournament, she tosses a pokeball, releasing her Crabrawler.
"What are you doing, Lynn?" asked Lincoln.
"I'm catching this for my team." said Lynn. "Crabrawler, use Rock Smash!" Crabrawler moves at the Rockruff and slams one of her claws onto it, dealing super effective damage. The Rockruff reacts by ramming Crabrawler, knocking her back. "Crabrawler, use Bubblebeam!" Crabrawler releases a stream of bubbles from her mouth that hit Rockruff and deal super effective damage. Lynn quickly grabs an empty pokeball and throws it at the Rockruff, hitting it, and sucking it in; the pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking.
"You did it, Lynn!" said Shelby.
"You know it." said Lynn as she picks up her new Pokemon's pokeball. Lincoln looks up Lynn's new Pokemon on his Rotom Phone.
"Your Rockruff is a girl, she has the same moves that Shiloh's has, but he has the Keen Eye ability which keeps him from having her accuracy lowered." said Lincoln. He looks at the clock on his Rotom Phone and sees it was past noon.
"What's up, Lincoln?" asked Kiawe.
"I was wondering if Lynn's Z-Ring is ready." said Lincoln.
"We can stop by Iki Town and see if Kahuna Hala is done making it." said Mallow.
"Let's go." said Lynn.
The group leave Route 1 and quickly arrive at Iki Town where they see Kahuna Hala wandering around.
"Alola, Grandfather." said Hau, getting Kahuna Hala's attention.
"Alola, everyone." Kahuna Hala responds. Lynn runs over to him.
"Hey; is my Z-Ring ready yet?" asked Lynn. Kahuna Hala smiles as he pulls one out of his shorts' pocket and hands it to Lynn.
"Awesome!" said Lincoln as Lynn slips the Z-Ring over her wrist.
"Thanks." said Lynn.
After that, Lincoln and Lynn go over to Kahuna Hala's house and grab their belongings after explaining the arrangements that Lance and Sharon made for them.
"Feel free to visit anytime, you two." said Kahuna Hala.
"We will." said Lincoln.
"So, what now?" asked Shelby.
"Let's try training your new Pokemon for a while." said Lincoln.
"Maybe we can find some more." said Shiloh.
"Okay." said Lincoln.
They all return to Route 1 and help the Loud cousins get started on training their Pokemon.
Shelby's Meowth learns Fury Swipes, and immediately after her Bonsly learned Mimic, he freezes up and starts to glow.
"Bonsly's evolving!" said Shelby. Everyone watches as Bonsly starts to change; when he was done, his body was taller, he had a twiglike growth on its head, and he had long arms with three green orbs at the end of them, making him look like a tree.
"What is he now?" asked Shiloh. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at Shelby's new Pokemon.
"Sudowoodo, the Imitation Pokemon, and the evolved form of Bonsly. It's so popular with the elderly that there's a magazine devoted to this Pokémon. Fans obsess over the particular length and angle of its arms." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"And this says he just learned Slam after evolving." said Lincoln.
"Yay!" said Shelby.
Shiloh trained his Rockruff and he soon learned Rock Throw.
Shane trained his Pikapek and he learned Echoed Voice, Rock Smash, and Supersonic; he soon began to glow.
"Hey, Pikapek's evolving." said Shane. Pikapek began to change; when the glowing stopped, Pikapek was bigger, his beak was longer, and the top of his head was black. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at Shane's newly evolved Pikapek.
"Trumbeak, the Bugle Beak Pokemon, and the evolved form of Pikapek. It can bend the tip of its beak to produce over a hundred different cries at will." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"Awesome!" said Shiloh.
As they all decided to head back to the hotel, they hear some rustling from some grass, making them look to see a small, navy blue Pokemon with pointed ears, and cream-colored feet and lower jaw comes walking out.
"What's that?" asked Lynn. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Munchlax, the Big Eater Pokemon, and the pre-evolved form of Snorlax. It hides food under its long fur, but it sometimes forgets about it and causes a stinky disturbance." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone.
"So, this is what Oluolu's Snorlax probably used to be?" asked Lynn.
"Snorlax was huge!" said Shane.
"Can you imagine how big of a splash it would make if it did a cannonball?" asked Shiloh. He turned towards his Rockruff. "You want to battle Munchlax so I can catch it, Rockruff?" Rockruff happily barks and nods. "Okay, Rockruff, use Howl!" Rockruff lets out a loud howl and his attack strength increases. Munchlax runs at Rockruff and rams him, but not dealing much damage.
"Use Bite!" said Shiloh. Rockruff runs at Munchlax and bites its arm, dealing damage, and making it flinch. "Now use Rock Throw!" Rockruff launches rocks from his tail at Munchlax, hitting it. Munchlax runs at Rockruff and licks him, dealing damage.
"Tackle!" said Shiloh. Rockruff runs at Munchlax and rams it, knocking it to the ground on its back. As it tries to get up, Shiloh takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Munchlax, hitting it, and sucking it in; it wiggled around a few times before it clicks. "Oh boy! I caught a Munchlax!" He picks up Munchlax's pokeball. "We're going to do so many cannonballs together."
"Okay; this says your Munchlax is a boy, he knows Tackle, Defense Curl, Amnesia, and Lick." said Lincoln. "He has the Thick Fat ability which cuts damage done by fire and ice type attacks in half."
They all make their way to Hau'oli City where Lincoln stops at a Pokemon Center to send the Happiny he caught back to Royal Woods. Lincoln's Alola friends go back to their homes while the Louds go to the hotel so Lance and Sharon can grab their luggage before they take a taxi to the airport.
"Shane, you're in charge while you and your siblings are here." said Lance.
"You got it, Dad." Shane replied.
"And you two listen to your big brother and stay out of trouble." Sharon says to Shelby and Shiloh.
"Yes, Mom." said Shelby and Shiloh in unison.
"Lynn and I will be here to help him out." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, you two." said Lance. They all do a group hug before Lance and Sharon hop into the taxi and make their way to the airport.
"I hope they'll be okay." said Sharon.
"They're Louds; they can handle anything." said Lance.
"You're right, honey." said Sharon. "And besides, this will give us more alone time." Lance smirks at that fact.
Later in the Loud cousins and siblings' hotel room, Lincoln calls up his family.
"Hi, son." said Lynn Sr.
"How's Alola?" asked Rita.
"It's awesome!" said Lincoln. "And I just sent Lola a new Pokemon." Lola quickly runs upstairs to Lisa and Lily's room where she sees the pokeball in Lisa's machine and grabs it; she brings it back to the living room and tosses it, releasing the Happiny inside.
"She's so cute!" said Lola as she picks up her new Pokemon in a hug.
"I knew you'd like her." said Lincoln.
"What else have you all been up to?" asked Lynn Sr. Lincoln then tells them everything that happened today, including the fact that the Loud cousins will be sticking around.
"So, our cousins are staying there allowing you to spend even more time with them, and you get to stay in a resort hotel?!" asked Lola.
"We are, literally, jealous right now." said Lori.
"And we're glad you got your Z-Ring, Junior." said Lynn Sr.
"Thanks." replied Lynn. "I can't wait to try it out."
"Just make sure you all stay out of trouble." said Rita.
"We will, Mom." said Lincoln.
After they end the call, they all have dinner in the hotel's restaurant and hang out until it was time for bed.
The Loud cousins are staying in Alola with Lincoln and Lynn. What other surprises will they experience as their Alola adventure continues?
