Episode 3 "Restoration"
Sitting at one of the desks, I recognize more and more that… I learned this stuff long ago.
But… I'm 13 no? I'm an adult, no that isn't right?
Clutching my head with a heavy sigh, my own confusion had not let up.
Who am I if am not Mia?
Who am I if am not… me?
"Hey ready for the math test- woah."
I shrieked, startled by my new friend's sudden voice.
"Sorry", he mumbled as he sat down opposite of me.
"It's okay, I was just… um very focused. What did you say?", I looked at him as he leaned over.
"I asked if you were ready for the math test?"
I nodded. "I don't know, but I think I got it. I'll do okay, what about you?"
"Math is my jam, no problem there", he proclaimed proudly. Yeah nerd.
There, was a pause, and I followed his eyes as he spoke.
"Don't look but miss Perfect is coming over here."
And in the exact same vein my arm started to prickle. And then the bracelet illuminated.
Well, what a timing.
"Do you have any place where I can be undisturbed? I need to get away."
"What why?"
"I can explain later, but first I need to get away, please Vicent", I begged, as I packed my stuff.
"I know a place, follow me."
Sheer relief washed over me.
But also dread. I had decided from the very get go, to tell him about Centopia as I remembered him to be a trusted ally to Mia- I meant me. God was this confusing.
Soon we arrived closer to a small shack.
"In the old days this used to be where the groundskeeper lived. Everybody just sort of forgot about it, so I moved in."
"Is your stuff safe here?" I asked as I entered looking around. There was plenty of stuff, even an old tv.
Huh. Although I knew about this shack… I never expected it to be full of things… to a point where it even looked livable.
"Yeah, nobody goes here in this dusty old shack, feel privileged", he merely replied.
"I thank you", I nodded "and this really is all your stuff?"
"I've been accumulating it for a while… So why did you need to get away?"
"Right so uhm. Do you… Can you promise me to not tell a single soul about this?"
"I- of course, I promise but what is this about?"
"So okay, see this book?", I took out my book from Centopia, opening the page to the new oracle.
The page changed and the pink runes appeared.
"Woah how did you do that? A hologram, computer cgi? A trick?"
I shook my head.
"Are they inverted?", he asked as I gave no reply.
"Yes. Those are elven runes, when my bracelet starts to glow, there is a new oracle for me to enter as a password to enter the world of my book. You know what that does sound insane."
"Very funny", but the humor was dry.
"How about I just show you? I'll use the password and poof out of existence, and you'll have your magical proof."
"Are you sure you are, okay? Maybe the ball from last time left some brain damage?"
I snorted.
I took my pocket mirror to read the runes.
Again, the oracle was different from what I remembered.
I tapped my bracelet. "Hi Mia, what is your password?"
"To find what has been lost, thread where they have not."
Gold surrounded me, pricking uncomfortable throughout my body.
"I'll see you in 5 minutes!"
"What do you mean, what is happe-"
And thus, back in the golden void, transforming as I was ever so reminded by the sharp pain from my wings coming back. That was never something I'd be able to get used to.
Flung at high speed once more, my landing- was a lot softer. "Uff", I rolled off the soft surface.
Looking at what I landed on… it was just a big round flower, but surprisingly soft to land on.
"Aha take this you unmerciful void of gold! No concussion for me today!"
Not that this was anything to be proud of.
Stretching myself I took a good look around. Back in the forest it was. "Lyria?", I called and a neigh followed. As did she.
"Hey, Lyria I am back! ", I waved at her, pleased to see her being okay.
"Why wouldn't she be?" My mind nagged.
She greeted me happily and I couldn't help but notice… "Are you getting rounder?"
She made some offended noise.
And I clapped my hands together. "You are expecting a foal aren't you? When is it due?"
At first she just blinked at me, holding her head up.
Then she softly whined. "Soon, but it is still a little while. How did you know?"
"Fat distribution", I blurted, and she blinked again. My brain had to restart for a moment.
I coughed awkwardly in my hand.
"Just a lucky guess. I'm happy for you! Have you picked out a name yet?"
She softly breathed, I could tell when she nodded as a yes, her eyes were warm with affection.
Onchao, I'd already known, was on his way to be born. It wouldn't be too much longer.
Suddenly Lyria tensed up, huffing.
"Something is coming, hide."
And I quickly did so with no complaints.
We hid in nearby bushes and trees, and my heart started pumping to my ears.
Please don't be dark elves or dragons, please don't be dark elves or dragons-
But then I heard wailing.
"What?", I blinked, getting out of my hiding spot. Small creature came into view and it was…
"Phuddle!?", I blurted, rushing over, just to be reminded that I could not run, by falling over from the wings sudden blinding pain.
"Ouch-"
"Mi-Mia?", I looked up to Phuddle before sitting up.
"Hey Phuddle, are you okay?"
And then he burst into tears once more.
"I'm never going back! I just ruin everything! I'll just be here forever! -"
"Woah woah, what happened? Did something happen with you and the elves?"
"I broke the Trumptus!"
"Wh-what?" I blinked perplexed, that was not how I remembered this episode to go.
The pieces that I did remember.
"What do you mean you broke it? Did it fall out of your hands and break?", I stayed sitting so I could remain at eye-level with him.
"No, no I took it apart- they asked me to make more, but I couldn't remember how to put those pieces back together, some of these pieces I can't possibly recreate and-"
"Woah, woah, take a deep breath Phuddle. Okay Take a deep breath in and a deep breath out", I instructed. Poor Phuddle must be so upset.
He did as he was told, and it seemed to calm him just a little.
"So… you took it apart the Trumptus I mean? Why don't we put it back together then?"
"I don't know how! If I knew how I wouldn't have to leave forever! Oh, I'm such a failure I should have never made the Trumptus"
"Phuddle! Come here for a second", he approached me cautiously and flinched as I pulled my arms as gently as possible around him.
"It's okay. We'll fix this and you are not a failure, and the Trumptus is only in its parts, right? No piece is actually broken?"
"No, I just took it apart. Do you think we can actually fix it?", he sniffled, his arms clearly leaning into the embrace.
"Of course. I happen to be very good with puzzles, I'm sure we can piece it back together."
"Okay", he let go of the hug, and I stood up as well.
Man, goat man is so fluffy.
Wait getting distracted.
"So… where did you leave the Trumptus pieces?" "I left them back in the elven crater by my den!", yet he still sounded distraught, his voice still wailing.
"Oh! I get it"
"Huh what?"
"The oracle! Remember? I always get oracles to get into Centopia and help you all. I think this is what the Oracle is referring to."
"Really what is it?"
"'To find what has been lost, thread where they have not.' I think lost can mean the Trumptus and thread where they have not, must be the elven crater since I have never been there", I clapped my hand satisfied.
Those Oracles were easy. Especially when all I had so far were about me.
But why did it not say she if it meant me? Ah well a bit nitpicky I suppose.
"That is amazing!"
I chuckled. Then another thought occurred. "Do you have a blueprint for your Trumptus?"
"Ahaha yes I do, of course I always store my things by my thinking tree!"
He marched ahead looking back. "What are we waiting for? The Trumptus Blueprint is this way!", I looked at Lyria who just shook her head in amusement before allowing me on her back once more.
- :O
And panic shot through Phuddle as he seemed to realize did not know which one his tree was his thinking tree.
"Oh, this is hopeless! We are never going to find my Blueprint!"
Lyria meanwhile already begins to search. Having the foreknowledge that Lyria would definitely find it, I breathed in relief.
"Let's not give up Phuddle, better late than never, right? Let's split up to try to cover more ground that way, okay?"
"Okay…", although I wasn't convinced he meant it, I began to search.
I certainly remembered bits and pieces of this episode… But who was it that watched it? Because I am Mia? I could already feel the pressure building back up in my head.
How did I know all this?
But wasn't there a parade with Phuddle for his Trumptus?
If I remember right… Mia- I meant me, the other me- why was this so complicated? She suggested to make more Trumptus… but here it seems the elves already asked Phuddle to make more.
I didn't appear in the Elven crater either.
But fair enough, Lyria I didn't even bother to convince that the elves are friends… so she never had a reason to go to them. Therefore…
Things were really changing weren't they? Why was I even so reluctant with the elves? In the show they were nothing but kind-
"But what if they aren't?" My mind seemed to whisper, and I could only huff annoyed.
Everything else was the same, wasn't it? Lyria, Phuddle, Mo, Gargona, Yuko-
"Except they tackled me off Lyria the first time they noticed me. That was way more extreme of a reaction, wasn't it?"
Steps approached and I looked at the offender.
"Did… you have any luck?", the little pan asked in a soft whisper.
"No, but maybe Lyria found something, let's ask her", he nodded but he still seemed to shrink into himself.
"Don't worry I'll help you fix everything, what are friends for if they don't help each other in times of need?"
"We-we're friends?", I blinked at him and put on a soft smile.
"Of course! I think of you and Lyria as my friends, do you think of me as a friend too? Do… you want to be friends with me?"
"Uhh yeah.. Yeah, I'd like the sound of that!"
"Then that is settled, oh by the way Phuddle, what happened while I was gone?"
"Oh, the Elves took me to their King and Queen and let me present the Trumptus! Then they celebrated me as the inventor! Can you believe it? Me Celebrated! Just for making a piece of junk! I mean my Trumptus Centopias hope… that is now in pieces."
"Don't worry we'll fix it."
"I hope you are right…"
- :O
Lyria wasn't far and- was that blue thing?
"MY BLUEPRINT, you found it! Thank you thank you thank you!", he snatched it right from Lyrias mouth!
"Well done, Lyria! We can't thank you enough for finding it! But uh can you do us two both a favor?"
She nodded and already crouched down let me onto her back before I even had to voice that favor.
"C'mon up Phuddle, we have a job to do"
"A pan riding a unicorn?"
"It is not that weird, and it is much faster,-"
"Why don't you just fly?"
I paused and looked away. "My wings don't really work… I can't fly. But anyway, Lyria allows you to come along, it is for the Trumptus after all"
"What is wrong with your wings?", he pried trying to look at the back of mine.
I reached out a hand to him.
"I don't know? They are damaged I think. But a unicorn tear is not enough to fix it. But I don't mind, I've never had to fly before, so it isn't any different than it was before to me."
"Maybe I can help fix your wings", he said as he let me lift him up onto Lyrias back, in front of me.
"We can try! But first we need to fix the Trumptus!"
And off we went!
- :O
"Halt!", Phuddle yelled suddenly as he jumped off Lyria.
"We can avoid the others if we sneak in through the secret passage!", he proudly pointed towards the waterfall. Lyria and I exchanged glances.
"Why do you already know the secret passage?" I asked him bluntly. "Why would he know?"
"Ahaha", he laughed awkwardly.
He twiddled his hooves together looking up to us before confessing.
"I found it, when I ran away after taking the Trumptus apart…"
"Oh, that made a surprising amount of sense."
"It saves us time, that is for sure. Let's go!", and we moved behind the waterfall to enter.
Not too long after we reached the top, the hidden passageway I got a good glimpse of the inside of the crater, and within it stood the elven palace in all of its glory. Shining golden. And-
"I swear if I find Phuddle- I!", that sounded like… Yuko… we ducked away as Phuddle started to whimper.
Soon Yuko left far enough.
"I think they noticed."
"You don't say", he replied with as much sarcasm he could muster up.
"How do we get to your home undetected Phuddle? I'm basically a stranger, I don't think they'll take it kindly either if they see me having broken into their home."
"I don't know there are elves everywhere. Maybe we should run away forever after all", he already turned around ready to give up.
"Wait- Phuddle"
And then Lyria spoke.
"I'll distract them and you two sneak into Phuddles home to get the Trumptus and put it back together."
I got off her but still needed a moment to process what she said.
"You'll do that? Are you sure?"
"No unicorn has ever been spotted in the Elven crater", my mind remembered the line from the show.
But.
She nodded her posture holding firm. It was already decided.
"Okay, wait! I think it'd be best if you also lead them to your herd, that way should the dark elves be around they can help and it makes them be further away as possible", she neighed.
Understood.
"Good Luck Lyria!"
And thus, she ran off.
Chattering broke out and elves all stormed out to Lyria running in the middle of the crater.
Confusion was plastered on the elves' faces, but I could not see them clearly.
However, as Lyria ran off and away from the Elven crater, the elves gestured I presumed were Yuko and Mo to follow urgently.
Good job Lyria.
"Lyria bought us time, off to your den, quickly!"
"Of course, follow me!"
The elves were far too confused to even pay attention. Here and there, there was the loud exclaim of "A unicorn in the elven crater! This never happened before" and "Something awful must have happened if a unicorn came here alone…", my heart squeezed uncomfortably.
Phuddle grabbed my arm in a jerking manner, and we hid behind a tree, as a guard flew by.
"Thanks, Phuddle", I whispered as the guard was out of sight.
"No problem, let's go!"
Getting up the steps quickly somehow unnoticed, we rushed into his tiny home, certainly I couldn't stand in here.
"Here we are in my home!"
Strayed out on the floor were the pieces of the Trumptus.
"Okay then let's get to work! Can you work with your blueprint?"
Phuddle paused trying to make sense of his blueprint only to start sobbing.
"Do you know how much planning went into this?"
I cocked my head.
"None. I have no idea what I was thinking!", he wailed and I immediately hushed him.
"Don't worry, you have me around, here look I remember fairly well how it looked like, these are the end pieces and those are the beginning pieces, there is decoration and- there is the middle piece, and we'll figure out how the rest works together", I laid the pieces into smaller sections, and it really seemed easier.
"Look these look like they fit together", and so I picked up two pieces and they fit excellently.
"Woah you are right! How did you know?"
"Like I said, I'm good with puzzles, c'mon let's put it back together!"
"Yeah!"
- :O
Thankfully it didn't take all that long to put it back together.
I breathed a huge sigh.
"We did it! The Trumptus is back together."
He circled around doing little jumps all the while before suddenly throwing himself around me in a warm and tight embrace.
"Thankyouthankyouthankyou! Now the elves won't banish me!"
I returned the hug.
"Just one problem, Phuddle."
I loosened the embrace, looking at me with wide eyes.
"Huh?"
"We still have to give them the Trumptus."
His posture sank.
"Phuddle are you here?"
Phuddle shrieked at the sudden noise outside his home.
"Nobody is here!"
I could only facepalm.
"Phuddle if you don't come out now-", the angry threat hung in the air.
"C'mon your chance! Don't tell them I'm here okay?"
He glanced back and forth then nodded, took the Trumptus and ran outside.
"Good luck little pan."
"Phuddle there you are! Quick, we need the Trumptus, how many did you make?"
"I- I couldn't make another one! I took this one apart, but I fixed it again, I'm sorry!"
"You took it apart!?", that shriek must be from Yuko.
"Yeah! But I put it back together. It is as good as new! It works see!" and he blasted the ear piercing noise once more.
It was working alright.
"It doesn't matter, we need the Trumptus now, Phuddle!"
There was a thud of a metallic object and then the sound of wings fluttering further and further.
Phuddle breathed in deeply before turning back to me into his home.
"That could have been worse", he shrugged while sitting down.
I glanced at my bracelet, as my arm started to feel prickly again, but it wasn't shining yet.
"Looks like we fulfilled the oracle Phuddle. You did well."
"No, we did well!"
I chuckled alongside him.
"But, you should definitely advise the royal family to guard the secret passage as well. We sneaked in a whole unicorn", I laughed. How absurd.
It was like sneaking an Elephant into a museum, how could someone not notice?
"Will do! But what will you do? I think we could still sneak back out", he looked towards the exit of his home.
"Don't worry that won't be necessary. I will go poof again in a bit, that is how I will get home!"
"How does that work?"
"Magic… probably?"
"That is amazing, when will you be back?"
I shrugged.
"I can only come to centopia when there is a new oracle that will help to solve whatever problem needs solving. I don't know when. I don't have any say in that."
"Oh… but you'll visit when you are back right?"
I chuckled.
"Of course!"
And the light of my bracelet started to shine.
"Phuddle? Who are you talking to?", a masculine voice asked approaching steps drawing closer.
"WasgoodtobeherePhuddlebey."
I never pressed a button faster in my life, the moment the King made eye contact with me and Phuddle looking into his home.
"Phuddle who is- what is happe-" and the gold whisk me away once more.
Back at the shack I blinked, breathing out with a shaky breath.
"Welp that is one way to get caught."
"Woah- what the you were gone! How did you do that? What is the trick, light? A trap door?" I had totally forgotten about Vincent.
"Magic", I coughed leaning back into the chair.
"No seriously, what was it?"
"Magic", I affirmed once more, opening the page, as Vicent witnessed the page changing to-
Oh that is just mean.
Me and Phuddle in his home building the Trumptus with the King looking into his home. Well okay.
"That was full of runes before!"
"Yep, so how many questions do you have?"
"About 2 thousand"
"No more?"
"You are right- I have so many more."
I got up and I winced as my back protested. But I still packed up my stuff.
"Well, I'll answer it all! But first we have to get to a math test."
He followed after me as I left the shack.
"You can't just teleport in and out of existence and then just leave me hanging."
Authors note:
And the simple storyline is over lol, the more fun times begin with the next chapters.
But I just find it so funny, that my mind was like "Oh not friends with elves, why not break in instead?" and somehow make that work lmao.
"Fat distribution", also makes me giggle more than it should.
I also hate how Phuddle gets treated by Mia in canon, so here you go with Phuddle bestie™
And with this chapter I'll start the weekly updates for now. Just wanted to have more than 1-2 chapters up before I start that.
I'll fix the hightling later, since that didn't transfer from my docs, thoughts are supposesd to be cursive as well as Lyrias talking, and some other things I emphasized on.
Will fix that by the time the next chapter will be posted.
