Chapter 51:

The beginning of the end

Charlie Morningstar was currently in the middle of giving Ashley and Velvette instructions "So me and Vaggie will be having another meeting with the high seraphim soon, do you 2 think you can handle the drone until we're back?"

Ashley just saluted in a casual manner "Ya can count on us, Charlie" as Velvette added "And if shit hits the fan"

"Call us, but ONLY in case of emergencies, understood?" Vaggie answered them as the duo would nod and not long after, the princess and her partner had left for the heaven embassy as the doll demoness and shark sinner would get comfortable in the lobby and Velvette would boot up the drone, re-tracing her steps from where she had last deactivated it.

Ashley had gone to husk at the bar as she by now returned with 2 warm mugs "Hey hun, did ya know Husk serves not only just alcohol?" as she put the 2 mugs down "Apparently he thought it'd be a good idea to get one of those fancy ass espresso machines and well, as a certified coffee addict, I got to agree with him"

She plopped down next to Velvette as the 2 would begin to survey the area where they last left the drone, noticing a small red indicator blinking on the screen, suggesting the device had been running in the background.

"It recorded something?" Ashley piped up, as Velvette would respond "Seems like it. Let's review the footage and see if it's useful" as with a few skillful taps on the controller, the recording began playing.

"We still in that weird facility ya found by stalking Vox?" Ashley asked, to which Velvette spoke up "Hit the nail right on the head. It seems to be some kind of research and development facility"

Ashley would raise a curious eyebrow as she took another sip of coffee "Didn't you use to work together with him? I figured you'd know most of his little secret facilities"

Velvette shook her head, her gaze remaining fixed on the screen "Just because we worked together doesn't mean he trusted me. Remember? He's paranoid as fuck, there's allot of things he never told any of us" as in the recording, the cloaked drone maneuvered itself into what appeared to be a large room, probably for testing as the 2 women's eyes went wide as they witnessed the footage of the mechanical angels stepping into place, as well as Lute's new, mechanical wings….

As the footage came to an end, Ashley was the first to speak up "We must warn Charlie NOW. Vaggie said to only call in an emergency. Well, I think THIS counts as a fucking emergency!"

Velvette sat there as she ran her hands through her hair "Oh shit this is bad, this is bad, this is BAD!" as Ashley had begun dialing Charlie's number as she mumbled under her own breath "Come on, Charlie, pick up. For fuck sake, pick up"

Picking up the remote and the case, Velvette would press the homing button on the remote as she grabbed Ashley by the hand "There's no time, they need to see this, NOW" as she had begun to pull the anarchy overlord towards the door and the 2 women had begun to run towards the heaven embassy as fast as their legs could carry them.

Heaven embassy, pride ring, hell:

Charlie was currently in the middle of discussing the recent developments around Lute when her phone suddenly sprang to life and refused to stop ringing.

Remembering what they told the 2 overlords about only calling in case of an emergency, Charlie, would exchange a glance with Vaggie, who nodded in agreement and the princess picked up "Uhm…hi Ashley?"

"OH MY GOD I FINALLY GOT TO YOU. We're on our way to the embassy right now, shit hit the fan BIG TIME, Charlie, it's BAD!"

By now, the princess had put her phone on speaker as Vaggie spoke up "Ok Ashley, we can all hear you loud and clear. Just how bad?" to which the anarchy overlord responded, through panting "We're talking "2 hobos fucking in a shoe filled with piss" bad" as they next heard Velvette over the phone "We've recorded footage of what that bitch is planning, it's best if you all see this for yourself. We're almost at the embassy!"

Finally letting the recording come to an end, the princess stared at the now blank viewing orb with her hands covering her mouth.

Vaggie had gone to try and comfort her partner, tho she too could barely believe what they had just witnessed.

Emily was still covering her eyes as she would glance to the orb every now and then through between her fingers as Sera just sat there, eyes wide and her mouth hanging open in horror.

The room was silent for a decent few minutes, the only thing any of them could hear would be their own heartbeat ringing in their ears as Sera would slowly get up as she spoke "She….she has gone…completely mad…" Vaggie would add "She's gotten completely delusional, does she truly still believe she's the goodguy here?!"

By now, Charlie was on her knees on the ground, holding her face in her hands as soft whimpering was heard and tears began to roll over her cheeks "No, please, not again. I don't want to do this…not again…..i just want everyone to be happy…I just wanted to help my people….why is this happening…" as Vaggie was desperately trying to console her girlfriend.

Emily was finally able to swallow the lump in her throat as she spoke up "W-well…..at least we finally know who has been tampering with your uncle's bots, like you told us, charlie….."

"How are we supposed to fight an army of mechanical angels?!" Vaggie would spit out in frustration before she would exchange glances with the high seraphim as she was about to open her mouth, tho before she was able to get a single word out, Sera had began to speak

"Say no more, Vaggie, I shall martial the new guardian angels immediately. Should Lute decide to strike out, they WILL aid you"

By now, Charlie had recomposed herself enough to speak again "Dad…we need to tell dad" to which Sera replied "Agreed, since Lute's fall, she is now technically a denizen of hell, which means she is now under HIS jurisdiction. There is nothing stopping him from intervening"

Ashley would give a hard nod as she piped up "I'll get Carmine on the phone as well, ASAP" but as she would look over at Velvette, Ashley could see the wide eyed horror on her face as Velvette looked at her phone, social media feed open "Sinstagram is going insane…." before the short fashionista would bolt to the door of the embassy and poke her head outside.

"Uhm….girls? ….Y-you might want to see this….."

The group would approach the door, but once they did, their faces fell…..

"Are those….." Charlie whimpered…..

"I'm afraid so" Vaggie spoke up as a cloud of small, black dots was slowly assembling near the Vee tower in the sky … originating from 3 separate locations…

"…..Lute's mechanical army…."
