Hey, all thanks for the many faves, follows, and reviews. Lot of you caught on to the new characters. As for the whole SoL thing...you'll just have to wait and see. Onwards!

The next day was a Saturday, many students sleeping in or getting to know the lay of the land. But far out at sea, something was coming. A yacht made its way to the docks of Central Duel Academy, landing. A figure stepped off the boat, several men climbing off and tying it off. The figure was a teen boy, dressed in silver formal wear with button-up sleeves, a black shirt underneath with matching shoes, and a loosely-fitting necktie. His hair was gray sectioned in two layers, his bangs forming one layer and the rest the other. His blue eyes shone, looking at the docks.

"So this is Central huh? Where the infamous King of the Ring hides." The teen said. "Well, better hit the shop."

With those words, the boy walked off.

Jaden was having a VERY bad morning. Amelia hadn't taken the hint, thinking that Alexis had 'brainwashed' him and tried to ambush him after he left the Blue Dorm. No matter where he ran to, she was constantly hounding him, loudly proclaiming her love for him. Many of the new students were looking at him, while the students that knew him cringed. They knew he had fangirls and fanboys, but this Amelia took the cake!

He finally managed to lose her by the Main Campus, making a beeline for the Slifer Dorms. Everyone saw him coming, Alexis frowning. Yubel appeared, telling her about Amelia. Here, a tick mark grew on her brow, Jasmine and Mindy gaining the same tick.

"That girl is cruisin' for a epic bruisin' Lex." Jasmine snarled.

"No joke, that little brat needs some manners beat into her." Mindy agreed.

The group settled down, Syrus telling Jaden what he now had. Hearing about the new cards, Jaden whistled.

"That's not too bad, Syrus. Pegasus told me about them just a week before that tourney. They are quite powerful if played right."

"I know right!? But...I want to learn about Synchro's first from Doctor Fudo, not you, Jay."

Jaden nodded, understanding. Chazz asked if Jaden had any of the cards which the boy nodded. He had them and knew how to use them thanks to his 'in'. Here, Chazz laughed. Duel spirits. Was there anything they couldn't do?

The group sat down, starting to review what they knew last year. Barely ten minutes in, Bastion saw a figure walking up. Pointing it out, everyone turned. Jaden's eyes narrowed.

He knew who the person was right away.

But the main question on his mind now was what was Aster Phoenix doing here?

The unknown boy to the rest stopped, smirking.

"Hello. I'm here to duel the best duelist on the island and was told that I could find him here."

Alexis got up, crossing her arms. Something about this kid rubbed her wrong.

"Why? And I mean, why face off against our best, Freshman?"

"Well, just to see if the rumors are true. But...I think I can spare some time to give you some one on one tutoring, babe." The boy said, taking Alexis's hand and kissing it.

Alexis yanked her hand back, Jaden standing up.

"You always go for girls who have boyfriends, Freshie?" Jaden stated, putting on an act. "But fine, you wanted the best, you got the best. Been meaning to test out something anyways."

EODGX

Jaden and the newcomer were at the Slifer's main Duel Arena, both with disks on their arms. Dorothy came down with Pharaoh, Professor Jason Sweet with her. After exchanging greetings, it was discovered that Jason was the new Headmaster of Slifer Red. That struck many of the new students. Here was the Black Hellfire Duelist as their headmaster! Said duelist was looking at the two.

"You know, the kid in the silver tux reminds me of someone..." Professor Sweet mused aloud.

"Now that you mention it, he does." Chazz said, arms behind his head. "But where?"

"Maybe he went to your prep school, Chazz?" Harry asked, Chazz shaking his head.

"Nah, I'd remember someone like him."

The teen boy gave his name as AP, much to everyone's annoyance. He was definitely hiding something.

"DUEL!"

AP: 8000/Jaden: 8000

"I'll start off first, if you don't mind." AP said, drawing. "I play Ojama Yellow in Defense mode!"

A cry of 'WHAT' came from Chazz as the tiny yellow monster appeared. The black haired boy began to rant and rave about copycat duelists making everyone chuckle. Jaden frowned, watching the boy end his turn with a facedown. He drew his own card, adding it to his hand.

"Alright, you ready for this, AP? To start, I play the spell card Resonator Call!"

(Resonator Call – Type/Spell/Normal. Add 1 "Resonator" Monster from your Deck to your Hand.)

"Resonator?" Everyone, including AP, asked aloud.

"More on that later. I now summon Guerrilla Kite in attack mode!"

(Guerrilla Kite – LV/****, Attribute/FIRE, ATK/1600, DEF/200, Type/Fiend/Effect.

When this card is sent from the field to the GY, inflict 500 points of damage to your opponent. The effect of "Guerrilla Kite" can only be used once per turn.)

A kite with a demonic looking face appeared, two spiked bombs next to it. AP started; that wasn't Jaden's Evil Heroes. He wasn't the only one stunned by the change. The monster attacked, easily destroying the Ojama. The king then placed a card facedown and ended his turn.

AP drew, a little shaken up. He had been expecting the Elemental or fabled Evil Heroes, not this. He looked at his hand, choosing a card. He placed it facedown, but after he did so, something began to chime. Everyone looked around, wondering what it was. AP chuckled.

"It's all cool! Just my Cell!" AP said, pulling it out. "Hello?"

Jaden's eyes twitched, as did everyone's.

"Who the hell answers a call in the middle of a duel?!" Maurice snarled, many nodding.

"Was I REALLY like that in first year?" Chazz asked, shocked.

After getting several confirmations, the boy crouched down and went into a depressive state. AP continued his call, unaware that Jaden was growing annoyed. A sudden beeping came from the king's duel disk, making him look at it.

On the blue screen, it said 'Opponent's turn ended'. Smirking, Jaden drew. Seeing the move, everyone was shocked at the move. The new students began to wonder aloud if Jaden was cheating until Jason jumped in.

It was a new program to the Duel Disks. If a move wasn't made after some time, the computer would automatically end the turn for the player. Since AP had taken too long, the computer ended for him.

"That's right, I'm dueling him as we speak, but uh...he's not using his famous deck. Using some cards that are complete randos." AP said, not paying attention to Jaden playing.

On the other end, a sinister but endearing voice spoke.

"I see."

"Any last minute words of advice?" AP asked, seeing something being summoned but not putting too much thought into it.

"The Reaper of Souls is in reverse. You know what must be done."

AP nodded, thanking the caller and hanging up. He turned back to the duel, just in time to hear Jaden.

"I now Tune Level Four Dark Resonator with my Level Four Guerrilla Kite!"

"Say what now?!" AP gasped. "What happened to my turn!"

"Calm down, AP. Its a new program. If too much time passes, the computer automatically ends your turn. Its something that they added to the Pro Circuit some months back." Jason said, further stating that the school strives to make its rules Pro Circuit legal.

AP frowned, knowing what the Professor was talking about. He should have just used his Bluetooth! Wait, Tune? Jaden Yuki had access to those new cards?! Well, then again, Supreme King of the Ring was leagues above him.

Jaden got AP up to speed. He first summoned his Dark Resonator monster that he had gotten his first turn and then used the effect of a card called Nosy Gnat, increasing the level of a monster on the field. He had chosen his Tuner monster, Dark Resonator which was level three. Thanks to Gnat, it was now level four.

"The fires of passion burn bright as the stars, consuming all in majesty! I synchro Summon...RED DRAGON ARCHFIEND!"

(Red Dragon Archfiend – LV/********, Attribute/DARK, ATK/3000, DEF/2500, Type/Dragon/Synchro/Effect.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
After damage calculation, if this card attacks a Defense Position monster your opponent controls: Destroy all Defense Position monsters your opponent controls. During your End Phase: Destroy all other monsters you control that did not declare an attack this turn. This card must be face-up on the field to activate and to resolve this effect.)

The Resonator became a set of rings, four with four tiny stars in it. The rings and stars flew over the kite, turning it into an orange outline. There was a bright flash of light and a massive shadow arose from it.

Its eyes glowed red, large black wings unfurling. Bouts of fire escaped its mouth, a massive roar echoing. Everyone stared at the new monster, eyes wide in shock and amazement.

"Meet my Red Dragon Archfiend, AP. He's one of several cards of the new Synchro Summons."

"Oh man...that monster is able to match a Blue Eyes!" Syrus exclaimed.

"Something tells me it has a powerful effect to go with it. Question is Jaden gonna attack?" Bastion wondered aloud.

The dragon roared, charging at AP. Alexis smirked.

"That answer your question, Bastion?"

The claws of the dragon raked AP, making him cry out in pain.

AP: 5000

"Nice one!"

"Show that stuck up punk who rules this school!"

Suddenly, two bombs appeared next to AP, exploding.

AP: 4500

"What?"

"My Kite. Its' effect stated that when it left the field, you took five hundred points of damage."

Jaden used Pot of Greed to draw two cards and setting two of them facedown. He ended his turn, AP drawing. The boy revealed Reload, shuffling his hand back into his deck. Chazz scowled.

"That's like Magical Mallet, only Reload gets tossed into the grave."

AP got his new hand, revealing one of the cards.

"I play Sanctuary in the Sky!"

(Sanctuary in the Sky – Type/Spell/Field.

Battle damage to the controller of a Fairy monster from a battle involving that monster becomes 0.)

The area around them changed to become a massive cloud city. Jaden frowned, wondering what AP was up to. The boy smirked, revealing a Warrior of Zera monster. The man appeared, roaring only for the clouds to cover him as a larger winged monster took its place.

"Meet Archlord Zerato!"

(Archlord Zerato – LV/********, Attribute/LIGHT, ATK/2800, DEF/2300, Type/Fairy/Effect.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 1 face-up "Warrior of Zera" on your side of the field while "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on the field. If "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on your side of the field, by discarding 1 LIGHT Monster Card from your hand to the Graveyard, destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field. If "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is not on your side of the field, this effect is not applied.)

"Now, by using my Archlord's effect, I can-"

"I'll stop you right there with my trap, Red Cocoon! I equip this to my Red Dragon."

(Red Cocoon - Type/Trap/Normal. Target 1 Dragon-Type Synchro Monster you control; equip this card to it. While it is battling an opponent's monster, until the end of the Damage Step, negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent controls. During the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was sent there this turn: You can target 1 "Red Dragon Archfiend" in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.)

"O-kay, but it doesn't really stop my effect. I discard my shine ball and destroy all monsters other then my Archlord."

Red Dragon exploded, the smoke and dust hiding Jaden's smirk. Now that he was wide open, AP launched an attack. The feathers struck the teen, but didn't flinch.

Jaden: 5200

"Well, guess that's that. I'll end my turn and use my facedown trap, Fairy Sanctuary!"

(Fairy Sanctuary – Type/Trap/Normal. Activate this trap at the End Phase of your turn if "Sanctuary in the Sky" is in play. If you have 1 Fairy-Type in your grave, Special Summon up to 3 Level 5 or lower Fairy-Type monsters from your deck.)

"Thanks to this trap, I can summon Fairy-Types up to level five. So I play my Agent of Force – Mars, Agent of Creation – Venus, and Airknight Parsath all in attack mode!"

The three monsters appeared, all armed and ready. Jaden smirked, his Red Dragon reappearing with a roar before kneeling down. AP was shocked. How had the dragon returned?! The only trap activate was that Red Cocoon!

"Unless...it allows you to regain your Red Dragon!"

"Correct. When Red Cocoon is sent to the grave, during the turn it was, I can resummon my Red Dragon. I chose Defense mode. Now, my turn!" Jaden said, drawing.

He revealed one of his cards, Earthquake. All monsters in play were switched to defense mode, save for his Red Dragon since it already was. All of AP's monsters bowed down, AP scowling.

"What are you up to?"

"You'll see. I play my Red Resonator in attack mode, using its effect!"

(Red Resonator – LV/**, Attribute/FIRE, ATK/600, DEF/200, Type/Fiend/Tuner.

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from your hand. When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field; gain LP equal to its ATK. You can only use this effect of "Red Resonator" once per turn.)

"Thanks to my Red's effect, I special summon Red Sprinter in attack mode and then Special Summon Red Warg also in attack mode!"

(Red Sprinter – LV/****, Attribute/FIRE, ATK/1700, DEF/1200, Type/Fiend/Effect.

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned while you control no other monsters: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Fiend-Type Tuner from your hand or Graveyard. You can only use this effect of "Red Sprinter" once per turn.)

(Red Warg – LV/******, Attribute/FIRE, ATK/1400 → 700, DEF/2200, Type/Fiend/Effect.

When you Normal Summon a "Resonator" monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, but its ATK becomes halved.)

"Now, I tune my level two Red Resonator with my level six Red Warg! Born from Primal Fires of yore, it consumes all! I synchro Summon...Scarlight Archfiend Wvyern!"

Like before, the two monsters jumped into the air, the lower becoming a pair of rings with stars. The other became an orange outline, a shaft of light the signal.

(Scarlight Archfiend Wyvern – LV/********, Attribute/DARK, ATK/2500, DEF/3000, Type/Dragon/Synchro/Effect.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

If "Red Dragon Archfiend" is in play, this card gains the following effect:

When this card attacks, no card effects can be activated.)

Scarlight was a thinner version of Red Dragon, but no less fearsome. It snarled, glaring down at AP. Jaden then switched his Red Dragon into attack mode, revealing his other facedown card.

"I equip my Red Sprinter with Axe of Fools. Now it gains a thousand attack, but loses its effects."

Red Sprinter – ATK/1700 → 2700

"Now, Red Dragon Archfiend! Attack and destroy his Archlord!"

The Dragon roared, its wings flapping as it soared right at AP. The boy smirked, it was just one attack. The claws became wreathed in flame, easily shattering the Archlord.

"Not bad, but-WHAT?!" AP exclaimed, the flames consuming the rest of his monsters.

Jaden began to laugh at the shocked look on AP's face. Calming down long enough to explain that it was Red Dragon's effect. When it attacked and destroyed a monster in defense mode, all other monsters in defense were destroyed as well. Professor Sweet laughed.

"Clever! Jaden summoned it in defense mode so it wouldn't be affected by Earthquake."

"Now AP is wide open!"

Jaden nodded, ordering his Scarlight for a direct attack. AP hissed, the wyvern burning away more of his LP.

AP: 2000

"Now Sprinter! End this farce!"

The monster in question charged, its Axe raised high. With a single swipe, AP's Life points plummeted to zero.

AP: 0

"Damn...was not expecting that Dragon to have such a powerful effect." AP said, putting his hands in his pockets. "Those Synchros are gonna be troublesome on the Circuit."

"Which bears the question I have." Jaden said, walking up. "Why duel me, Aster Phoenix? Oh don't look so shocked. I knew who you were right from the get-go."

"Okay, you got me. Well...guess it was fate."

Jaden frowned, his golden eyes glowing.

"I know of Fate, but not a very large believer in it. Is there a fate? Probably, but that just means you'll be handed it. I believe in you work hard and long at something, you will gain what fate has in store for you."

Aster blinked, scoffing.

"Whatever. I know my destiny."

"Same thing as before. You work for your destiny, not have your destiny work for you. Otherwise, you'll just have a crutch. Next time, duel with your real deck and I'll do the same."

Aster just scowled, walking away while blowing a kiss at Alexis. Said girl glared at the boy, walking over and giving a large kiss to Jaden. Once more, Aster was shocked but shook it off. He headed for the docks, ready to head back.

EODGX

In a undisclosed location, Aster walked into a room, a cloaked figure sitting at a table. The figure was shuffling a tarot deck, Aster looking at the back of the figure. Stopping his shuffling, the figure set the deck down and spoke, not once turning around.

"So, it went as I had predicted then?"

"Not...exactly. Jaden didn't use his Evil or Elemental Hero decks. He used those new cards, the Synchro cards."

That made the figure lightly gasp.

"But...hmm...it seems that Jaden is not as dumb as I was led to believe. Damn, this will make things tricky."

"Sartiorius, I get dueling him at that school kept my reputation safe, but if we call him out, it could put my career in jeopardy."

The figure nodded. He reassured Aster that he would duel the King again...but not for a time. Aster nodded, taking his leave.

Still...so long as Jaden does not have the Sacred Beasts or those infernal God cards...The Light shall purify all. Sartorius thought to himself, never seeing the top card of his tarot deck flip over, revealing the wheel of fate in reverse.

And the plot thickens! Some of you were expecting Jaden to have Stardust. Sorry, but that card is in someone else's deck. Whose? You'll find out soon enough! Hope you enjoyed this!
