Hey all! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all! Figured I'd give you all a gift and update Celestial War!
The days after their meeting with the King and Ian were uneventful for the new freshmen. Classes were held, quizzes given out, a more in-depth study of the Synchro monsters was given.
It was during this class that Doctor Fudo was told something. Many students had been losing their duel disks. Asking for some replacement disks, Miles volunteered, his face one of grim determination. Fiona joined too, not for the reason you think. She was joining because she knew that face on her boyfriend.
It was a face that promised payback.
EODGX
The two carried a large net and backpack full of replacement disks, heading to the affected dorms. As they walked, Fiona decided to ask Miles where his was. Here, the boy's face grew even grimmer.
"You remember when you found me hiding in the trees, nothing on my body?" Miles asked.
Fiona nodded. It wasn't how she ever thought she'd get to see her boyfriend naked, but she wasn't gonna complain. He was a lot bigger then his small size showed. Miles told her that he had been stopped by a group of Ra Yellows at the North Bridge, led by some muscle-head by the name of Tyranno Hassleberry. He had challenged Miles to a duel, but Miles didn't have his deck at the time given he had just gotten off from his Tech Workshop class.
"Well, they didn't like that so they stripped me, took my disk, and told me not to come back. I've been avoiding the North Bridge for a day or two, not because I was scared! No, I was reworking my deck. This time...this time I will get revenge."
Fiona was pissed at what these punks had done, but she was very proud of Miles. He was going to face his problems head on. The two approached said bridge. A loud voice called out.
"ATTENTION! STATE YOUR PURPOSE, CIVILIANS!"
Fiona saw a large teenage boy with a muscular physique and his outfit followed a dinosaur and military theme. His outfit consisted of a Ra Yellow uniform with no sleeves and a duller shade of yellow with a green muscle shirt underneath, beige combat pants, white wristbands with matching bands just above his feet, a bandanna featuring a dinosaur face, bone earrings, and a necklace of dinosaur bones. His hair consisted of long, black dreadlocks. He looked to be African American, but Fiona saw other traits mixed in. Obviously, he was more mixed race.
Miles stepped up, glaring at the boy. The larger boy noticed.
"Hey now, I recognize you. Didn't we tell you not to come back?" The boy sneered, arrogance on his face.
"We?" Fiona asked.
The boy smirked, yelling.
"TROOP TYRANNO FALL IN!"
Several other boys joined the larger on, all wearing bandannas like the first boy and carrying a flag with a T-Rex's face on it. All Miles did was scowl even more. The group noticed and commented on how it was the local streaker. A blast of fire erupted around Miles, making Fiona jump back.
"Whoa, warn me when you go Super Sayain, babe!"
That made the group look at one another.
Babe? The pipsqueak had a girlfriend?! Miles stormed up to the group, each one backing off.
"Hey private! I didn't have my deck last time but this time, I do! So let's duel!"
The leader of the group gained a tick mark.
"PRIVATE?! I am a Sargent!"
"Oh really? My mistake, civilian!" Miles snarled, Fiona blinking.
Miles is never this riled up...I guess those goons REALLY pissed him off with that stripping they did. Actually...maybe he's pissed because of them, I got to see all of him? Fiona thought.
The two laid down the rules; should Miles lose, the duel disks they were carrying belong to him. Miles gave the other half; should he win, Troop Tyranno was to return the stolen disks to their owners. That caught everyone off guard, including Fiona.
"What in Sam Hill? Yesterday, you were a nervous wreck!" Tyranno Hassleberry said.
"THAT'S cuz I got ambushed! You would be too if you got attacked from all sides, stripped AND discovered by your Girlfriend in said state! But today...I'm raring to go and give you the mother of all beatdowns!" Miles snapped, Hassleberry blinking.
"Jeez, you guys REALLY pissed him off." Fiona said, watching with crossed arms.
"Indeed." A new voice said, Fiona and the troop turning and seeing Jaden.
After the freak out from the troop members, Jaden joined Fiona and the two talked briefly. Jaden had been hearing rumors about the North Bridge and had come to investigate, only to find this happening. He was actually interested in how the duel would go.
Miles: 8000/Hassleberry: 8000
"I'll start things off!" Miles said, drawing.
Looking over his hand, he chose two cards.
"I first set one card facedown and then summon my Scrap Goblin in attack mode!"
(Scrap Goblin – LV/***, Attribute/EARTH, ATK/0, DEF/500, Type/Beast-Warrior/Tuner.
This card cannot be destroyed by battle. If this face-up Defense Position card is selected as an attack target, destroy this card at the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is destroyed by the effect of a "Scrap" card and sent to the Graveyard, you can select 1 "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard, except "Scrap Goblin" and add it to your hand.)
A tiny monster made of scrap metal appeared, making everyone blink. Miles ended his turn, Hassleberry drawing.
"I play Gilasaurus, front and center!"
A tiny dinosaur appeared, Miles frowning. He knew what was coming. The monster's special effect allowed it to be Special Summoned from the hand. Hassleberry offered it up to summon his Dark Driceratops.
"Now I wage war with your weak monster! Go Dark!"
The monster roared, charging at the tiny goblin. Miles revealed his facedown.
"I use my Scrap Iron Scarecrow trap! It negates your own attack!"
A scarecrow made entire out of scrap iron appeared, the larger monster crashing right into it. The scarecrow then retreated back into the card and the card went facedown once more.
"What? HEY! Replaying that trap card is illegal!" One of Troop Tyranno called out.
"Not exactly." Both Fiona and Jaden said, looking at one another.
Fiona excused herself, Jaden doing the same before both laughed. The King allowed Fiona to take over, after all, it was her boyfriend's deck.
"Thanks. Scrap Iron Scare can return to its facedown position instead of being sent to the grave due in part to its own effect. Its one of Miles' most powerful traps in his deck."
That made the group stare in shock. A trap that could reset itself? That was new. Hassleberry ended his turn with a facedown. Miles drew again, summoning out his Scrap Shark.
(Scrap Shark – LV/****, Attribute/EARTH, ATK/2100, DEF/0, Type/Fish/Effect.
When an Effect Monster's effect or a Spell/Trap Card is activated, destroy this face-up card on the field. If this card is destroyed by the effect of a "Scrap" card and sent to the Graveyard, you can send 1 "Scrap" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.)
A large shark comprised of scrap items appeared, the goblin suddenly whistling. Hassleberry looked at the monster in shock.
"What's goin' on?" He demanded.
"Easy! I'm tuning my level three Scrap Goblin to my level four Scrap Shark!"
Scrap Goblin became rings and three stars, surrounding the shark. A beam of light came out and from it, a large monster.
"One duelists junk is my treasure. I synchro summon Scrap Archfiend in attack mode!"
The large winged monster appeared, roaring. Hassleberry took a step back in shock.
"Now, Scrap Archfiend! Attack!"
"Hold your horses! I activate my trap card! Amber Pit!"
(Amber Pitfall – Type/Trap/Normal.
Activate only when an opponent's monster declares an attack. Negate the attack, and change the attacking monster to Defense Position. That monster cannot change its battle position (except with a card Effect).)
Scrap Archfiend was covered in Amber, kneeling down. Miles scowled, placing a card facedown and ending his turn. Hassleberry took over, playing a Field spell card, Jurassic World.
(Jurassic World – Type/Spell/Field.
All face-up Dinosaur and Winged Beast-Type monsters gain 300 ATK and DEF. Those monsters are unaffected by the effects of your opponent's Trap Cards. When a Dinosaur or Winged Beast-Type monster you control is selected as an attack target, you can change that monster to Defense Position.)
All around the group, palm trees sprang up. Miles scowled, seeing Dark get powered up.
Dark – ATK/2400 → 2700
"Now my Dino attacks once more!"
"Forget something, Civilian? Scrap Iron Scarecrow! Absorb the attack!"
The scarecrow appeared, stopping the attack dead. Hassleberry grumbled, ending his turn.
"That trap is getting' annoyin'." Hassleberry snarled.
"Well, its about to get a whole lot worse for you, Private!" Miles snarled, drawing.
He revealed his Graceful Charity card, drawing three cards and then throwing out two. A glow came from his grave after he placed the two cards.
"What the-?"
"It's the effect of my Level Eater!"
(Level Eater – LV/*, Attribute/DARK, ATK/600, DEF/0, Type/Insect/Effect.
If this card is in your Graveyard: You can target 1 Level 5 or higher monster you control; reduce its Level by 1, and if you do, Special Summon this card. This face-up card on the field cannot be Tributed, except for a Tribute Summon.)
A tiny bug with a single star on its back appeared, chittering. Scrap Archfiend's Level Star was then eaten by the bug.
Scrap Archfiend – LV/******* → ******
"Now I play Monster Reborn, bringing back my Scrap Goblin! Now...I tune my Level three Scrap Goblin to my Level Six Scrap Archfiend AND Level one Level Eater!"
Scrap Goblin blew its whistle becoming rings. Scrap Archfiend and Level Eater both flew into the air, the rings surrounding them. Miles smirked.
"When Scrap is melted down and reforged, a new power shall emerge! I synchro Summon...ATOMIC SCRAP DRAGON!"
(Atomic Scrap Dragon – LV/**********, Attribute/EARTH, ATK/3200, DEF/2400, Type/Dragon/Synchro/Effect.
1 "Scrap" Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, you can select 1 card you control and up to 3 cards in your opponent's Graveyard. Destroy your selected card and return the opponent's cards to the Deck. When this card is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard, select 1 non-Synchro "Scrap" monster from your Graveyard, and Special Summon it.)
"Oh nice! Miles' Ace!" Fiona gushed, excited at her boyfriend's play.
Sure enough, from the earth three massive heads broke through, flying high into the skies. Hassleberry gulped. His Amber pit was no more AND he had no other cards on the field.
"I'm not done yet! I can still Summon this turn and I will! I play another Scrap Shark in attack mode, following that with a Field Spell of my own, Scrap Factory!"
(Scrap Factory – Type/Spell/Field.
All "Scrap" monsters gain 200 ATK and DEF. When a face-up "Scrap" monster(s) on the field is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon 1 "Scrap" monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of "Scrap Factory" once per turn.)
A metal factory joined the palm trees, Hassleberry asking what was going on. The group of seven (Jaden, Fiona, Miles, and Troop Tyranno) told the boy about the new rulings regarding Field Spell cards. That made the boy sheepishly laugh. Scrap Shark exploded, Miles explaining it was the monster's effect. He took a card and sent it to his grave, the factory coming to life around them.
"When a Scrap monster is destroyed by its own effect, I can special summon one Scrap monster from my deck. I summon my Scrap Golem!"
(Scrap Golem – LV/*****, Attribute/EARTH, ATK/2300 → 2500, DEF/1400 → 1600, Type/Rock/Effect.
Once per turn, you can select 1 Level 4 or lower "Scrap" monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it to either player's side of the field.)
Miles used his Scrap Golem's effect, re-summoning his Scrap Shark to the field.
Atomic – ATK/3200 → 3400
Shark – ATK/2100 → 2300
"Uh oh." Hassleberry muttered.
"Uh oh is right! Scrap Shark! Attack that Dark Driceratops!"
Tyranno was quick to point out his Jurrasic World's effect. All that did was make Miles scoff. Shark easily devoured the monster, making Hassleberry realize right away why Miles attacked with the Shark.
He was now wide open to an attack from Golem AND Atomic!
"Atomic, Golem! Attack the Private directly!"
"Quit callin' me a Private! I'm a Sarge!" Hassleberry shouted, yelping when the triple fire blast from Atomic struck him.
Hassleberry: 4600
Golem struck next, using its fan as a buzzsaw on the boy.
Hassleberry: 2100
"Holy!"
"That little guy just cut Sarge down less then half of his life points in a single turn!"
"That's Miles for ya. He's sweet but be careful not to piss him off." Fiona said, chuckling.
"I'll play this facedown and end. Make your move and make it good!"
Hassleberry drew, frowning. His life points were low, his monsters weren't of much help against monsters with over two thousand attack points AND his troop were no longer cheering for him! He needed to make a comeback, but how!? He snarled.
"I hate those Synchros! All they've done is give me trouble!"
Fiona scowled.
"Hey meathead! Stop living in the past, damn it! That's how the Dinos you use went extinct! They didn't or rather wouldn't adapt to the changing times around them!"
"Duel monsters evolve alongside us when we duel. Synchro Summoning is just something new to make something old fresh again. You can't stand in time's way...it simply marches on." Jaden said.
Hassleberry frowned, taking in the two's words. He'd admit it. He despised change. There was his problem. If he didn't adapt and evolve to the new summoning soon, he'd be left in the dust. Sighing, he summoned a monster, a Sabersaurus. Then using Ultra Evolution pill, he brought forth his Ultimate Tyranno.
"Now thanks to this monster, I can attack your monsters at least once! Coupled with my World, its more powerful then even your Atomic Dragon!"
Ultimate Tyranno – ATK/3300 → 3600
"Then stop stalling and BRING IT!" Miles roared, fire erupting around him.
Hassleberry was more then happy to oblige. He went after the Scrap shark, making Miles smirk.
"You forgot my Scrap-Iron Scarecrow once again!" Miles said, his card flipping up and taking the attack.
"True, but don't forget, I have two more monsters to attack!"
Miles just smirked.
"Then do it!"
That caught everyone but Fiona by surprise. What was Miles thinking? Jaden looked at the second facedown, looking at Fiona. Said girl just smirked. Hassleberry charged again, targeting Atomic. Miles waited until the Dinosaur was almost on top of his Atomic Dragon. He smirked, revealing his second facedown.
"Reinforcements! This trap increases my Dragon's attack power by five hundred points!"
Atomic – ATK/3400 → 3900
"Sam hill!" Hassleberry gasped, the teeth of his Tyranno breaking. One of the heads of the Dragon swung around, blasting it away with its Atomic Fire Breath.
Hassleberry: 1800
"Crud...I don't have a card to save me...guess this is it. I end."
Miles drew, ordering his Atomic Dragon to attack one final time. The three heads blasted Hassleberry away.
Hassleberry: 0
Fiona raced to her boyfriend, picking him up and hugging him.
"You did it, babe!"
"T-thanks, Fi."
Hassleberry sat up, laughing. He had never had so much fun and the Synchros. He'd had to try them out. Jaden smiled, nodding at Miles. He resumed his walk back to the Blue Dorms.
It took most of the day, but Troop Tyranno and Hassleberry managed to get the stolen duel disks back and publicly apologized for stripping Miles. Said boy accepted the apology. Although, he suddenly had to deal with Hassleberry calling him 'Sarge' and wanting to learn how to Synchro summon from the smaller boy.
Miles just groaned. Why him?
Figured I'd have Miles shine in this duel. Since Syrus isn't the nervous wreck he is thanks to Jaden, I had to make some adjustments.
