Lloyd POV: I was definitely sore in the morning from sleeping like that. Plus my feet were cold and I was groggy with a slight headache. The price of sleeping weirdly on the bed. I groaned as I rubbed my eyes and stretched out. But I hit something and Kai groaned in response.
"Dude, I didn't make you stay here." he said, slowly getting up.
"Sorry." I said, yawning a little.
He also stretched a little and got out of bed. I was still a little worried, thinking about last night. But he was acting fine and he continued to stretch. Of course I didn't think he was actually fine, but it was a little hard to believe that he had a nightmare just last night.
"Kai, are you doing good?" I asked, finally standing up.
He hesitated before saying, "I'm fine." He still sounded tired, so I dropped it for now.
We didn't get dressed and just headed to the kitchen where we found Cole. He was weirdly standing outside the door without going in with his back facing us.
We both looked at each other and I went to tap his shoulder and say something. But before I could he jumped and whipped around. At first he looked… emotional. That's the only word I could think of. But that changed when he saw us. And it turned to guilt, which confused me even more.
"Cole? Are you good?" I asked, and he shook his head a little.
"Sorry, I'm fine. It's nothing, I just need to go." He said quickly.
He moved past us just as fast and was gone before either one of us could say anything. That was more than just a little weird. Kai and I shared a look before we walked into the kitchen.
Nya and Zane were there, making what looked like waffles and bacon. It looked like they were talking about something. However, when they both noticed us they immediately stopped. It must have been about Kai, given how Nya was looking at him. And it probably wasn't good because of how tense it got when Kai and I sat down. They set the food on the table, but no one said anything. And Kai looked like he was starting to get a little comfortable with how she and Zane were looking at him.
I cleared my throat and said, "Good morning." I was trying to lighten the mood.
"Good morning. Did you both sleep okay?" Zane asked, catching on to what I was doing.
"I was until someone punched me in the face." Kai answered, glaring at me.
"It wasn't on purpose." I grumbled at him, but he just rolled his eyes.
Nya laughed a little and said, "Yeah, I noticed that you guys had a sleepover."
"It was last minute, but really fun." I commented, but I didn't tell the real reason.
Mostly because I could feel Kai glaring at me and I wasn't going to set him off. The other two clocked this and didn't push for any further explanation. Besides everyone was hungry and we ate in silence, and made sure that there was some left for Cole and Jay when they finally graced us with their presence. But I was still confused by Cole and was going to ask after I finished, but Kai beat me to it.
"Anyway, did something happen earlier?" Kai asked, which confused them both.
"What do you mean?" Nya responded.
"Cole was outside when we were coming in, but he left in a hurry." he explained.
The color drained from both of their faces and they both looked at each other. And I'm starting to think that they didn't know that he was there. Which made me extremely curious about what they were talking about before we showed up.
"What?" I asked, but they didn't answer right away.
Instead, Zane got up and said, "I'll go check on him."
"Okay, we'll clean up then." I said, a little weirded out. But Zane can take care of him.
He nodded and left, leaving us to get to work. Nya and Kai started on the dishes as I cleared the table. But Nya didn't say anything as she and Kai washed them. Even though it was clear that she wanted to. I'm guessing that was because I was here and I didn't know what was going on.
Though that could be fixed if they would just tell me then they wouldn't have to hide anything. It would make everything so much easier, but that's just my opinion. I kept glancing at them and saw that they were basically shoulder to shoulder. Like she was trying to comfort him from whatever this is. The thing that is definitely related to his nightmare last night. I haven't asked him directly yet, but I know that everything that is going on is connected to what I saw.
I just hope that they'll tell me soon so I can start helping.

Cole POV: After leaving I found myself running up to the deck and gasping as I grabbed the railing. I was panicking more than I thought I was, but the fresh air was helping a lot. After a while I took a deep, cleansing breath like Master Wu said to do. It really did help me to clear my mind and think about what I heard.
I knew that Kai had gone through a trauma, but I didn't think that he got hurt. Not like that at least. I should have known that now that I think about it, but I just assumed that it wasn't anything serious. How can he act like nothing happened? I couldn't do that, not for that long.
I sighed loudly and leaned against the railing. I really didn't know what to think anymore. But I soon heard footsteps and I looked up to see that it was Zane.
"Cole, is everything alright?" he asked as he walked up to me.
Did he know that I accidentally heard them? "I'll be good."
"Are you sure? Lloyd and Kai mentioned that you might have overheard us." he said, standing next to me.
Of course they would say that, but I wasn't mad about that. "Yeah, I did. I mostly heard what you said about… Kai's condition."
He nodded silently and we just stood there in silence for a while. It was a little awkward, but I didn't know what to say. I have so many questions and things that I still don't fully understand.
But at the same time I have the feeling that Zane didn't have those answers. Only Kai did, and he still wasn't sharing yet. I'm starting to understand how Lloyd and Jay are feeling right now.
"So… he's actually going to be okay, right?" I asked, after thinking about it.
"With everything I know at this moment, yes. I would like to do further tests to confirm." Zane answered.
"Is he going to agree to that?" That was a genuine question.
He's never been a very good patient to begin with, and now with everything that's going on. I can't see that changing just because of this.
"I haven't talked with him about that yet. However, I can see it being a challenge at first." Zane said, agreeing with me.
"...Has he mentioned anything else? Like how… he got those injuries?" That question was burning inside of me and I had to ask.
"...Not to me, no. But I believe that he might have mentioned something to Nya." That does make sense since she hasn't really left him alone after what happened in the labyrinth.
"Is he ever going to tell us?" I mumbled, mostly to myself.
But Zane answered, "I think that he might soon. However, we must give him some space so he can feel comfortable doing so."
"Right, I can do that. But Lloyd and Jay are getting impatient." I said, and he nodded.
"I can understand their feelings, but this is Kai we are talking about. Pushing him will only push him away."
Fortunately he was right about that. I just can't help but think that if we don't step in he's going to end up hurting himself because he wouldn't let us in. Please let me be wrong about this and let him be okay.
