Episode 8: Blue Hope

Silence...

Not a single ounce of vocalization had been conducted within the area; not a word nor a whisper has been brought up. Although various sounds remained in the atmosphere, this type of silence brought a calming sensation. Any troubling thoughts, any worrying notions, they were washed away from the corners of the mind, being replaced with more concentrated and soothing thoughts.

Sitting within the area was Azurite. Her eyes were closed with both arms placed onto her knees and her hands intertwined. Her legs were crossed with both feet placed onto the back of her calves. Her hair swiftly flowed as she remained in place. Her lips stayed neutral, neither curving upwards or downwards. At first it would appear as those she was a statue, but worry not, she is as real as the waves of the sea.

Soon...Azurite's eyes re-opened themselves. Raising her head ounces of light were shining right at her, illuminating her surroundings. Although both her hands and legs were together, her body started lifting itself from the ground. Further and further she was rising, ascending herself toward the light above.

Reaching up to the surface she rose up from the depths and once her whole body was out her Gemstone on her chest started to glow. From her back water started to form onto her shoulder-blades and shortly after they soon took the shape of fully large wings. With a single flap she ascended into the air, uncrossing both of her arms and legs. Rotating her body her lips started to curving upwards while pointing her attention down.

Below her stood a massively large lake. The lake itself pushed it's waves back and forth with the aid of wind, though they weren't strong enough to enlarge the waves, but had them crash onto each corner of land around it.

Surrounding the lake stood a myriad of trees. Oak, Pine, Maple, or even Willow, they each cornered the lake from the North, to the South, to the West, and to the East. Just looking at them made Azurite's lips curve up even more. One of the very foundations of the planet. Strong, nurturing, and carrying such heavy burdens on their shoulders. Yet...with time, humanity has come to harm them for their own usages. Though their kin continue in their place, bringing forth generations of newborns that'll bask in the sun's rays and keeping the spirits company.

Raising her eyes, Azurite spotted a large long path from the lake to a blue door in the far distance. Flapping her wings she pushed herself through the air, making her way toward the door. Soaring through the open skies, she closed her eyes and ascended further up. Raising up her leg she pushed herself back, rotating her body until she was completely upside-down. Her body started descending straight down, aiming right for the ground. Opening her eyes she was getting closer and closer to the ground until she rotated her body again, gliding among the air up until the door was coming into her line of sight.

Raising up her body she soon dismissed her wings, making her land right onto the grass below. Raising out her hand to the door in front of her she gripped onto the knob and twisted it. Right when she was about to open it she turned her head back, looking at the path behind her. Her smile never faded as she gazed at the area. For now, it was time to leave, but she'll return once the time comes.

High in the skies Azurite spread her wings as far as she could and soared through the air. Passing by several buildings she took notice of various people through the glass and gave them a wave. The people who spotted her immediately stopped with what they were doing and turned their gazes onto her. Most were at awe at the fact that they were witnessing a woman with wings flying pass them while others...weren't entirely sure exactly how to respond to such a thing.

Turning her attention downward, Azurite spotted her destination in the distance and pushed herself forward.

On Polar Drive in Angel District lies one of the most important buildings ever made. To this very day it still remains tall and standing since the years it was first built. Regardless of weather, the building stood and would continue to stand for as long as the people in the city continued to go to it.

Straightening her back Azurite landed at the front entrance of the building. Dismissing her wings both of her Gemstones soon began to glow in a complete synchronicity while her body was covered in a blue light. The light soon vanished and from it Azurite now wore a white open-coat with white heels. Raising up her left hand her Gemstone within her palm glowed once more and from it a name-tag came out. Placing it onto her coat she turned her sight to the entrance and walked toward it.

Inside the building Azurite turned her gaze to her surroundings. To her left she spotted a couple sitting calmly together and the woman caressing her stomach. Next to the couple were an elderly man and woman whom grasped each other's hands while carrying worried expressions. To the right was a young boy with bandages wrapped around his head and a older woman carefully rubbing the boy's head. Next to the was a teenager holding his left arm with a saddened expression.

Walking pass the people Azurite made her way up to a front desk where a woman was casually typing on her computer.

"Good morning." Azurite announced.

Hearing her voice the front desk lady shifted her head to her and her lips curved upwards with a small gasp.

"Dr. Evans. Good morning."

"Thank you." Azurite nodded. "Do I have any patients as of right now?"

The front desk lady nodded and turned her attention onto the teenager. "Hansen. Dr. Evans will see you now."

The teenager turned his head to the front desk lady and soon shifted it onto Azurite. Standing up from his seat he grasped onto his arm and walked up to her.

Raising up her hand Azurite wrapped it around the teenager as they turned to a hallway and walked. Walking with her patient and passing by several nurses, Azurite focused her attention onto his facial expressions. The teenager kept his arm into his hand and continued frowning. The expression alone had made her smile fade, replacing it with a concerned expression.

Turning themselves to the left they approached a large door. Reaching into her coat-pocket Azurite removed her arm from her patient and pulled out a pair of keys. Putting one into the keyhole she twisted it and opened up the door. Stepping inside the room was dark until Azurite flipped a switch, illuminating it with light.

Within the room there a window in the distance surrounded with covers. To the left of the room was a small stool in the corner and next to the stood was a long examination bed with a light blue pillow at it's end. To the right was a small desk with two large hanging cabinets above it and two ground cabinets below it. Next to the desk was a large sink with several plastic cups stacked next to it.

"Hansen, will you please take a seat on the bed, please?" Azurite said.

Without a response the patient walked into the room and made it way onto the bed. Turning himself around he planted himself onto the bed as his doctor closed the door.

Walking over to the stool, Azurite grabbed it and pushed it through the room until she placed it in front of her patient. Taking a seat she and her patient were now facing each other.

"May I see your arm, please?" Azurite asked.

The patient adverted his eyes from her and kept his hand onto his arm. Why was he doing this? Why can't he look her in the eye and let her see his arm? She was a doctor. It's her job to help people when they get hurt, but he wasn't letting her do that. Why?

Looking at her patient Azurite's lips slowly curved up slightly. The expression he was giving her, the refusal to let her see what was wrong, and his eyes and body shaking were enough to give her a small amount of information to see the problem.

"Hansen..." She said softly. The tone in her voice made her patient slow his shaking, making him turn his head to her. "Please. I wish to help you. Unfortunately, I cannot do that if you can't let me. I mean you no harm. I only want to heal what is ailing you."

The tone in her voice... Her gentle eyes... Those alone slowed his shaking even more to nearly stopping. Maybe...he should let her see his arm. No, he needs to let her see his arm. He has to. Otherwise what's the point in coming to the hospital if you can't even let your doctor help you.

Slowly releasing his arm he sucked in some air and presented it to her. Azurite brought out both of her hands and gently placed them onto the arm. Slightly giving them a squeeze her patient sucked in some more air and tightly closed his eyes. Decreasing the pressure on the arm she turned her head toward the sink and summoning one of her wings she stretched it out and turned the right facet. Retracting her wing a small stream of water poured right out. From the stream a small portion of water soon raised itself from it and stretched itself out, coming toward her and her patient.

Once it came into a close distance the water came up to the patient and soon placed itself onto his arm before engulfing itself onto it. The patient's eyes slowly widened, watching the water cover his entire arm from the tips of his fingers to the edge of his elbow. He himself couldn't even describe what was going on right now, but...his worries were slowly fading from the cold but cooling sensation of the water.

"I do apologize if you are frightened by this, but be assured, it's going to be okay." Azurite said softly.

"A...Actually...I don't feel any pain right now." The patient replied. "What are you doing to me?"

Azurite smiled at her patient, "My job."

Soon the water surrounding her patient's arm removed itself and floated right into the air. It then made it's way to the sink and went down the drain before the stream of water was halted.

"There. Your arm is now all better." Azurite said kindly.

Raising up his arm the patient gasped. There...wasn't any pain in it anymore. Curling his fingers and twisting his arm, it felt...normal again. It...didn't hurt anymore.

"T-Thank you, Dr. Evans." The patient replied.

"You are very welcome, Hansen." Azurite said. "Although, I would like to ask how your arm got broken. If you don't wish to tell me I understand, but I wish to know so we may prevent this from happening again."

The patient slowly felt a rhythm beating into his chest. His eyes quickly adverted themselves away from the doctor, but he soon placed them back onto her. She helped him, so the least he can do in return is explain what happened. To the best of his ability.

"I...um...I was...climbing a tree. M-My friend...he...he dared me...to climb all the way to the top. B-But...just when I was about to reach to the top...there was a weak branch and...I...I...fell."

Azurite softly hummed. Her patient was climbing a tree because of a dare and due to a weak branch he felt, which explains how he broke his arm. Although...there was something kinda off with that story. There were indeed parks in Destiny City with large trees, that part is true, yet...the way he explained it and the tone in his voice didn't really add up to the actual events.

"Hansen. I am not going to judge you or not believing in your explination. But...did you fall...or did you let go?" Azurite asked calmly.

The patient's eyes and body began shaking violently again. His lips began to quiver as he held both of his arms. But then...he closed his eyes and his body began to calm down. No... He can't do this. Even if he could, it would only make things worse. There was only one option for him to make right here, right now.

He nodded his head to the doctor. "I...wasn't thinking clearing. And...I've tried to talk about it, but...I felt that I'd be a burden on them...or they wouldn't listen. So...one day I...I..."

His eyes started to swell and fresh tears began to form until they began falling onto his cheeks.

Without a word Azurite stepped up to him, wrapping her arms around him and pressing his head into her bosom. Small sobs entered her as as she looked at her patient. Closing her eyes she placed her hand onto his head, caressing her fingers through his hair. Holding him close she started humming, slowly rocking his body back and forth.

Her patient slowly started calming down and looked up at her. "I...I'm sorry."

"Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. It's okay. I am not mad nor am I upset." Azurite replied softly. "But, please understand that letting go is not going to solve your issues. It will hurt those who care about you and fill them with sadness."

"T-Then...what am I suppose to do?" The patient asked.

"Talk with your parents. Talk with your friends. Talk to people you can trust. Talk to me." Azurite said softly. "It will be difficult. I speak from experience, but...with time, it will get better. Okay?" Azurite replied softly.

Sniffling a bit, the patient nodded his head. Shortly after they separated themselves from each other and the patient started wiping his eyes.

"I'm not a therapist, but I will listen to any issues you're having. I do this with all my patients. If you are having troubling thoughts again come see me." Azurite said.

The patient nodded.

Azurite soon raised up her left arm and twisted it. Her Gemstone in her palm started to glow and from it a large lollipop came out. "For being a good patient, here's a little treat."

Her patient took the lollipop into his hand as he got up from the bed. Unwrapping it he made his way to the door and opened it up before walking out with his doctor following him.

Watching him leave Azurite turned her head and noticed two familiar faces coming down the hall. The first was an older dark-skinned woman with black hair and eyes. The woman wore a white collared shirt with a white overcoat, brown pants, and brown shoes. The second was a young dark-skinned girl with long black hair, brown eyes, and black-framed glasses. The young girl wore a teal-colored shirt with a light-blue skirt and orange boots.

Noticing Azurite in the distance the older woman grinned and walked up to her alongside the young girl next to her.

"Dr. Evans. It's good to see you this morning." The older woman said.

Azurite grinned and placed he hand into the older woman's before shaking it, "Good morning, Dr. Maheswaran. It is good to see you too." Releasing her hand, Azurite soon turned her attention onto the young girl. "Hello, Connie."

"Hi, Dr. Evans." Connie replied as the two shook.

"How is your morning?" Azurite asked.

"It's going okay. Mom just got done giving me my daily check-up" Connie replied.

"Correct. My daughter is as healthy as a bird." Dr. Maheswaran added. She then turned her head to Azurite, "I apologize in advance, but I have to take Connie to school and I have an appointment coming up soon. By any chance, can you take care of it?"

Azurite nodded. "Of course. I just got finished helping a patient, so I'm free as of right now."

Dr. Maheswaran let out a long sigh and placed a hand onto her chest. Such a heavy load had been released from her shoulders. "Thank you. I'll do my best to return the favor."

Azurite shook her head. "There's no need. I help you because I want to. Be care out on the road."

"I will." Dr. Maheswaran replied as her and Connie walked away.

"Bye, Dr. Evans." Connie waved.

Azurite waved back, watching them walk out the door.

"Dr, Evans, please report to the second level Room 002, please? Dr. Evans, please report to the second level Room 002, please?" The intercom announced.

Turning her body Azurite made her down the hall.
