Harry starts to head in the direction of The Owlery.
"Harry mate, hold up!" Shouted Ron who was a few metres behind him.
"Listen Ron, I got something to check for a second I won't be gone for long" he said back over his shoulder, Hermione's face was screwed up with an odd emotion on her face.
"Harry, we need to talk," she said.
"Listen I would love to talk but I honestly need to do something. I'll be back" he shut them both down with a wave of his hand and sped up his walking.
Both Hermione and Ron slowed down, they both then turned towards each other and turned back towards the castle entrance.
"I hate when he does this he goes completely MIA" muttered Hermione when she seen him get out of view
"That's Harry for you, he seems to think he can do every little thing himself. I swear it's like he begs for attention without realising it, look at the stunt he pulled with Malfoy" Ron replied, his voice turning into a low venomous mutter at the end of the sentence, the tips of his ears turning a slight shade of red. Both of them had a furrowed brow.
Harry was walking up the stairs nearing the entrance of The Owlery, as he reached the top he could see many different crows.
'Look! Death!'
'Wow!'
'Cool'
'Death, prized possession!'
And many other complements and statements tend through Harry's head. He held it as he started to gain a small headache.
"Right, uhm- how many of you are even here?"
'35!' They all chimed together.
Harry groaned a little, he didn't expect so many.
"Is Marax here?" He had asked.
All of the crows comically shook their head up and down, it looked like they were dancing.
He then saw Marax starting to fly towards him, he was hidden behind many crows.
He then landed on Harry's shoulder. 'Hi Harry!'
Harry smiled and said Hi back, he then felt many different emotions hit him, they were fuzzy and not his. It reminded him of Voldemort, although these ones did not hurt and they weren't as invasive as his.
"Uhm, so I came up here to ask. Who is 'Star child'? It's been on my mind all morning and I could not figure out who it is."
As soon as Harry answered his question many different flashes of memory's blurred into his vision. They were all Draco.
Harry's brow screwed together, so he's 'Star Child' but how?
"Why is he called that?" He asked.
'Chosen! Family'
'Blessed Stars'
'Yes yes!'
'Blessed child, Pure'
'White as stars!'
And like before many different complements and metaphors about Draco were singing in his head.
"He was blessed by the stars? How? Are there star deities?"
'Many Deities'
'Ask him, Star Child'
'Said too much'
'Fate, no speak'
'Figure it out, smart'
Harry nodded his head, "okay, I will be leaving now as it is-" he lifted his hand and wordlessly spelled 'tempus' "8:53 and I need to find my other friends"
All the crows chirped towards him and Marax left his shoulder, he then turned and walked downstairs.
As he walked outside he saw Hermione and Ron sitting under one of the trees, he then walked to them.
"Hey guys!" He said to them with a strained smile.
"Hiya mate," Ron replied with a dull tone.
"Hi Harry," Hermionie said in the same manner.
"Are you alright?" He asked as he sat down on the grass.
"Yeah of course Harry, why wouldn't we be?" Ron said his smile didn't reach his eyes as it normally would.
"Oh! Uhm alright then" he shot a smile at them both as he rubbed his neck.
It was a little awkward sitting with them, he honestly can't wait for the day they both get angry with him in front of people. He will play the long game and pretend but they will be in for a shock when they show their true colours.
A very loud bell rang through Hogwarts as it signalled the end of break. The trio all stood up and started to walk to transfiguration. Harry wondered how Mcgonagall is able to be a Head of House, Headmaster and a Teacher.
The trio sat down in their respective seats, both Hermione and Ron were talking together, but Harry felt the tension between him and the other two. Was it because he wouldn't stay with them? He was confused.
Mcgonagal had walked into class and briskly walked to the top of the classroom, "Good morning year eights…"
Harry was leaning his chin on his hand as he started to zone out of Mcgonagall's lesson. His mind started to wonder about different possibilities of how he could catch them both out.
"Mr Potter! If you please return yourself back to the present and do what I told you to!"
Harry jumped, he felt his face turn warm, "erm do what professor?"
Mcgonagal huffed in annoyance "I asked you to transform the pigeon into an animal of your choice"
"Oh!" Harry saw the bird on the table "okay.."
He took out his wand and said the incantation, the pigeon turned into a baby kitten, it was a cute little Ragdoll. The white fur made it stand out from all the black cloaks surrounding it. Many students in the class awed and cooed at the kitten, even Harry smiled at it and petted it under its chin.
"Well, Five points to Gry- hm.. Well done Mr Potter for being able to quickly handle such a difficult spell, but please keep yourself in my lesson."
The kitten walked around the table, its intelligent eyes finally glued onto Harry. He tilted its head at it, the kitten then walked towards him and started to bat at him.
Harry smiled again and started to play with the kitten.
"Potter! If you can't stay focused then don't be distracting everyone around you!" Warned Mcgonagal. "And please turn your kitten back to a pigeon"
Harry's lip twitched in agitation "Yes professor" he smirked as she turned her back, Harry tucked the kitten safely under his shirt as he conjured a pigeon from one of his extra quills.
He looked up and saw Hermione look at him in a displeased way as she tutted. He rolled his eyes back at her, the cat was too cute to turn back.
He glanced at some of the people watching him, most were giggling amongst themselves amused at Harry's actions.
He could slowly feel his patience wearing thin as the lesson dragged on, every spell he was told to do were all too easy. Much easier than all the years before.
'Core damage created by Tom Riddle's Horcrux absorbing magic has been healed'
'Hm.. that may be why.. my father was a prodigy at Transfiguration..' he thought.
His eyes widened a smidge as he remembered about the kitten, 'how the hell am I going to hide her in potions? In my bag? Bloody hell'
He quickly checked under his shirt to find the kitten peacefully sleeping, he then slouched a little in his seat, mainly because he was bored and also to give the kitten more room to sleep.
"Harry stop slouching" Hermione hissed, he groaned at her in annoyance but didn't move.
Harry had a hand gently placed beneath the kitten so it wouldn't fall. He could feel it purring on top of his belly and it took a lot of concentration to not make any noise back. It felt like an itch that you couldn't reach, dull but very irritating to ignore.
The bell finally rang as Harry watched the final few minutes tick down on Mcgonagal's clock that is perched on her table.
He quickly moved the kitten from under his shirt to his bag. He felt horrible but made sure it was sleeping on softer materials, he also made sure not to jostle the bag too much as he walked. He needed to think of a name for it.
"Harry, that is so irresponsible! Not only did you ignore the whole transfiguration lesson, you're sneaking around with a cat!" Hermionie nearly screeched.
Some of the slytherins from their year pushed passed the trio, "just admit it Granger poor ickle Potter is a little slow in the head" one said over his shoulder as he tapped his temple.
Harry frowned, his fist curled but he didn't make any comment or gesture to them.
"I'll be back in a second" he told them as he turned a corner leaving their line of sight.
"Harry wait I'm no-!" Hermionie was cut off as he walked into a large shadow hidden in a closed off corridor, he walked in and saw the familiar sight of the hundreds of openings. He quickly looked for the glowing opening that leads to his dorm's living room.
He opened his bag and let the kitten out, "I will be back soon okay? Don't miss me too much!" He grinned as he petted the kitten.
He grabbed his bag and quickly ran through the shadow in his living room and jogged to the closest one near the potions classroom. As he stepped out he saw Ron and Hermione walking down, he furrowed his brow and hid behind one of the pillars, both the ginger and the brunette looked angry.
"-arry just never listens to us now…" Ron complained
"Well his potions and spells were removed" said Hermione
Harry's brow furrowed 'they're talking about me?..'
"I know that! It's just it should not have happened, he should still be under the influence of them!" Ron said "I just don't understand what changed"
"Well I think it was when he got that letter from the brown owl. He was acting weird in Lupin's class today, I think he has got an inheritance, a very inconvenient one. At best the Potters had slight Veela blood in them like many other pure bloods…" Hermione reasoned.
Harry's temper boiled, unknown to him his roots were changing a violent red, almost like how Tonks hair would change with her emotions.
'Them backstabbing..' he thought, he then had an idea 'Let's see how long they will pretend… or maybe I could make a scene?…'
He smirked and watched them walk away, he then came out from behind the pillar and trailed after them. He did not want to make them know he was there but he would still go to potions…
He was a few steps behind them, 'what if I buddy with Draco?.. would he want that, I really cannot be bothered to deal with them two right now..'
People were giving Harry strange looks, he then saw a red hair fall into his line of sight "what the fuck?.."
He grabbed his small ponytail and pulled it over his shoulder, most of his hair a bright red colouring but his ends stayed brown.
His hair then turned a bright blue, people's mouths were hanging open, he pulled his hood up and quickly walked to potions.
"Whatthefuckwhatthefuck" he muttered as his hair was changing colours on its own.
He walked into potions and he was the last one in although the teacher had not arrived, everyone had a partner except Draco.
'Well that solves my original issue' he thought.
Draco raised an eyebrow and gestured towards his hood.
Harry flushed "mate don't even my hair is a state right now.." he muttered
"When is it never a state?" he said back. A little bit too loudly in a quiet classroom, everyone seemed to glance at them every few seconds.
"Shut up you prick, it's so bad right now!" He snapped back.
"It can't be tha- oh my Merlin" Draco's jaw dropped (as did many others in the classroom) when he snagged Harry's hood off his head.
"Oh my god.." Harry groaned, his hair now turning a pink shade as he put his head on the table.
Draco snickered at him.
"Harry mate, what in Merlin's name have you done to your hair?" Ron asked.
Harry's roots then quickly turned a threatening red, "Apparently the Metamorphmagus thing decided to work today" he muttered, he tried hard not to glare at the two people he thought were his friends.
Many of the ex-slytherins took it as a chance to try and make fun of Harry, just the usual shitty jokes and 'quips' they would make about him.
"How on earth do you even gain something like that so late in life it's unheard of, it's probably just a prank from someone.." a random pupil muttered, Harry couldn't even place what house he was put into.
His fists curled under the table, he felt humiliated and so.. angry. Just like fifth year. His hair had turned many shades of pink, purple and red.
He could even feel his face heating up and gaining a dark red tone on his cheekbones.
"Calm down you lunatic" Draco muttered, Draco talking seemed to curb some anger and he took a deep breath.
His hair had turned brown on the ends again and it's only a dusty pink that remained, it looked like a botched dye job. His hair length varied as well in many different areas as if he tried putting in layers on his own.
"Aww what's the matter? Potter can't control his anger? Poor baby… such a hard life isn't it potter? No parents or family.." a tall yet scrawny slytherin had said he didn't know his name but he had seen him a few times throughout the years.
"Yeah and it looks like whatever family you got don't even feed you" he sniped back, he felt his anger rising again and shoved
"Just because you have Malfoy bumming you doesn't mean you can be snarky to me Potter." he said threateningly.
"What the fuck does he have to do with this? And what do you mean I can't be snarky, what are you going to do about it" he stood up from his chair and it toppled over as the Slytherin decided to try and tower over him.
"I'll blast you into next week Potter, you ain't got old dumbles to help you out this time." Slytherin said snarkily, he smiled in a predatory way.
"Do it then." Harry said.
"What-" He stepped back from Harry.
"No gowan do it, 'blast me into next week' or you scared?" Harry sneered.
He could tell the slytherin was shitting himself, his eyes were wide as he distanced himself away from Harry.
"Sit back down, you just embarrassed yourself horrifically" Harry said, he looked at the Slytherin with a bored expression as he checked his nails.
The Slytherin grimaced, he knew Harry was right. He shuffled awkwardly to his little 'gang'. Many of the students started talking with each other after that, the silent tension broke after the little argument.
Harry shoved his hands into his pockets, his nails had a black tone and were definitely longer than usual.
"It's only Monday Potter" muttered Draco, he had an amused look in his eye. "Cole's is known for being all bark no bite it's funny to watch him back down so quickly"
Weirdly, the teacher still has not arrived. It didn't matter to Harry much because he hated potions, he found it boring and hated the close proximity of people.
"Do we even have a potions teacher?" Harry asked him
"I think so.." Draco replied "well, we are supposed to have a supply. Also your hair is normal again"
Harry checked and he was right, his hair was finally the normal raven colour it was before.
"I probably won't stay if the teacher doesn't show up, this is a waste of time" groaned Harry as he leaned on his chair.
"Excited to see your new kitten are you?" Sniggered Draco.
"Aw, leave the kitten alone, they're so cute.." he said back, his head looking up at the ceiling as he started to swing on his chair.
"Are you unable to sit still?"
"Nope! Get used to it"
Draco rolled his eyes at Harry in reply.
"So childish.."
Harry grinned "what does that make you?"
"A responsible person, unlike you."
Harry huffed, and blinked a few times still focused on the ceiling, his face felt lighter as he remembered his lack of glasses. It was like a phantom feeling that they are still on him.
A few minutes passed and there was still no teacher.
Harry rubbed his eye and stood up, "I'm going see you later" he said to Draco.
The blond huffed and stood up as well. The duo grabbed their bags and walked out together talking about some random nonsense. As they were leaving Harry could feel Ron's and Hermonie's eyes burning into the back of his head.
As they exited the classroom Harry led Draco to the pillar he hid behind, "want to see something cool?"
Draco nodded his head, Harry grabbed his hand and walked them both into the shadows.
"Woah, this is so weird. Are you the only one able to look out or can people look in?" Draco said, his head turning and eyes flickering around curiously.
"I'm not sure. But judging by how people act, they may not be able to see in." Harry said as he watched the few stray students walking around the castle.
Harry led them towards the faintly glowing shadow of their dorm and softly walked through it.
"Kitty!" He said as he saw the Ragdoll softly looking at him on the sofa, it seemed like it stayed in one place.
Draco walked over and sat next to it. He softly petted the kitten as it rolled onto its side, Harry quickly glanced and saw that it was a girl.
"I'm not sure what to name her" he said as his bright green eyes looked at Draco.
Draco's face screwed a little in concentration, he looked back at the kitten "What about Lyra, it's a constellation in the sky, it represents the lyre of Orpheus."
Harry hummed, "Why.." he thought about how to phrase his sentence "Why are you.. well not obsessed, but know a lot about stars? I don't understand, is it because your mothers a Black?"
Draco's eyes widened a smidge and he paused in fussing Lyra, "erm.."
Harry raised his hands "you don't have to say but I was just curious because I'm Lord Black and wondering if there are certain.. erm.. Family traditions I need to know"
Draco paused in thought, "well… you know that many noble houses are blessed by Gods, Deities and other powerful or upper beings"
"Well no.. but go on"
"The House of Black were blessed by the stars, mainly Starlings. We were blessed with many different powers like being able to have better heat resistance, shield magic, being able to float/fly. Mainly just boosting our original powers. But being blessed by the stars gave us things like the grey eye colour, Metamorphmagus and stuff" he explained.
"So.. have you been blessed?" Asked Harry.
"A little, I have a better control over my magic and I can handle fire really well. But I haven't found anything strong or impressive."
Harry hummed, he thought about what the crows had told him, "I think.. that you just haven't looked hard enough. There is something, I don't know.."
"Somewhere one of your ancestors was blessed by death, right? And it has shown largely in your powers and strength, even being able to resurrect yourself. Nothing like that has happened to me Harry I really don't think.."
"You're wrong. You have been blessed. The stars love you, call it a gut feeling" Harry cut him off with a small smile as he finally sat down on the other side of Lyra.
Draco smiled a little at Harry. Harry hasn't realised but the whole time his eyes would change colours rapidly from a striking green to a bright blue and even a pastel pink. His cheeks would gain the Sirius constellation as his beauty marks would rearrange.
Draco hopes that what Harry said was true, it's got to be. He himself is blessed by the stars, and it compliments him well, even if the power is new.
