Arthur Watts. A brilliant but arrogant scientist from Atlas who had felt ignored much of his life. Some time after deserting the Kingdom where he was born, he was approached by a fellow citizen of Atlas and recognized him as Jonathan Ironwood, son of his late colleague Meredith and General James Ironwood, who had claimed that Jonathan had died shortly after his mother did and all that was left was Steel. Steel had offered Watts a chance to help the world of Remnant understand his genius in exchange for helping him and his beloved Cinder Fall, a woman who had stolen God like power from four women with powerful magic called Maidens, to bring down the Kingdoms of Atlas, Mistral, Vacuo, and Vale.

Watts had accepted the offer and provided them with a lot of useful means to bring the Kingdoms down, but over time, he began to realize that they were taking credit for his ideas and he betrayed them then disappeared. Shortly afterwards, renowned Huntsmen and Huntresses like Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, Yang Xiao Long, Nora Valkyrie, Pyrrha Nikos, Lie Ren, Ember Gold, Magenta Magnolia, and Onyx Branwen among others began to disappear, causing their team leaders, Ruby Rose, Jaune Arc, and Lapis Lazuli respectively, to become concerned.

Currently on an island, Watts was walking with a man who had disheveled graying hair, and a matching moustache and beard. He had a red robotic eye that was glowing. His right arm was robotic as well as dark and metallic with red inner circuits. His clothing consisted of a red shirt under a closed lab coat, white pants, and dark gray boots.

This was Dr. Merlot, a madman who had experimented on Grimm, soulless creatures with a desire for destruction.

"I always knew you were a genius, Merlot, but infusing intelligence into the Grimm is incredible." Watts smirked.

"Science is meant for men and women like us to push boundaries and improve lives." Merlot said. "Oh, and I should thank you, Dr. Watts, for bringing me back my Patient Zero. The Branwen girl."

"Another experiment?"

"Oh, yes. I became curious about what the liquid substance of Grimm would do inside of a living person."

Watts smirked still. "So you experimented on Qrow Branwen's daughter to try and get those results."

Merlot nodded. "Until now, I'd believed she'd perished at Mountain Glenn. But now...to see that she's not only still alive, but actually can control herself is astonishing to me. These research notes you digitally snatched from Beacon's headmistress are astounding. According to them, Onyx can sense the emotions of others, telepathically communicate with the Grimm, and shift into two separate forms."

The two men saw two separate creatures, one being a humanoid creature with a shark's head and dorsal fin but arms and legs that were slightly longer and larger than an average person's and claws in place of fingernails. The other was a Selachi, a large shark Grimm from deep waters.

"By the way, may I ask what you would like done about your other guests you brought?" Merlot asked, pulling up a camera's footage of the cell containing Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha, Ren, Ember, Magenta, Fox Alistair, Velvet Scarlatina, and Yatsuhashi Daichi. Onyx was currently in her hybrid form as she, Nora, Yang, and Yatsuhashi were working together to try and break the door down.

"Ah, yes. I was hoping to mention a technique to make them more...cooperative for us." Watts said.

Merlot smirked. "I believe such a thing can be arranged." He said then the two men walked to the cell. Merlot pressed a button and one loud thud was heard before he smirked and opened the door. "The door has a remote activated electrical current in it. Escape is impossible."

"Capturing us was a mistake." Blake said. "Our friends will find us."

Watts laughed. "By that point, you'll all see them as the enemy." He said then grabbed Weiss and dragged her out of the cell and to a separate room a ways down the hall. In said room, Merlot's androids had just finished constructing a machine Watts had them build. It had large cylinders of different colored chemicals in them.

"What's this supposed to be, Watts?" Weiss sneered.

"Why spoil the surprise, Miss Schnee?" He smirked then the androids strapped her down to the chair the machine was attached to and a strange helmet was placed on her head, covering her eyes and ears, while tubes connected to the strange chemicals were attached to her arms.

A few minutes later, Blake, Onyx, and Velvet became worried. Blake and Velvet, thanks to the respective cat and rabbit ears on their heads, had heard Weiss screaming while Onyx felt Weiss's pain until both the screaming stopped and the pain was gone.

"Guys, something's wrong!" Onyx said, signing to Magenta. "I can't feel pain from Weiss anymore."

"Is...Is she...?" Nora started.

"No, she's still alive. I can sense it, but she's not feeling any pain anymore."

"Is that good or bad?" Yatsuhashi asked.

"Depends on what they're doing to her." Yang said then turned to Blake. "Can you tell what they're doing, babe?"

"I'll try." The cat Faunus said and listened to what was happening, which was snippets of what was being said and she became scared. "It sounds like they're brainwashing her!"

"Meaning they plan to do the same to us!" Pyrrha said.

Soon enough, Weiss herself came in and grabbed Blake by one of her cat ears and dragged her to the room she was brainwashed in. This process repeated until everyone but Onyx was now loyal to Watts and Merlot while also as vicious as the Grimm, if not worse. Onyx was the only one who wasn't brainwashed, as Merlot was curious about her Grimm abilities and wanted to see her full potential.
