Chapter 55: Fear and Family
Skit 1: Learn it the Hard Way
On a sunny day in the Beacon courtyard, Edom is making is way to the gym for a little work out session when he hears what sounds like someone crying up ahead. He moves and finds Velvet and Yatsuhashi sitting on a bench together, the former crying while the latter tries to calm her down.
"Yatsuhashi, what happened to Velvet? Edom asks.
"Cardin was up to his old antics again. He went after Velvet when she was by herself and started bullying her again. That sniveling coward always goes after her when her guard is down. He and the rest of his rotten team have no spine at all," Yatsuhashi explains while rubbing Velvet's head gently.
Edom narrows his eyes behind his mask, "Ugh, I swear, you can't fix stupid. Ignorance you can fix, but stupid is a different story entirely. Alright, you have any idea where Cardin is right now?"
"No, I don't. But when I do, I'll make him pay for this," Yatsuhashi says.
Edom scratches his metal chin, "Hmm, I have one idea. You might not like it though,"
Yatsuhashi cocks an eyebrow, "Why?"

Two days later, Velvet is walking through the streets of Vale by herself in the afternoon, with nowhere in particular to go. The reason why is because she's bait. Edom decided that if they couldn't get to Cardin, then they'd bring Cardin to them. Yatsuhashi didn't like it of course, but Velvet agreed to the plan. She's upset about Cardin bullying her as well. And she wants some payback. As she's walking down a sidewalk, the moron himself pops out of an alleyway.
"Well, well, well, look what I found. What's an animal like you doing off her leash and walking around in public. Shouldn't you be back in your little cage, freak," Cardin wastes no time in bullying her again.
"Why do you hate Faunus so much Cardin? We never did anything to you!" Velve retorts.
"Does it matter? I'm just here to remind an animal like you where your place is in the world. Beneath humanity's boots," Cardin stalks closer to her, until a hand grabs his shoulder. "Hey, I'm busy here,"
He looks back only to see Yatsuhashi standing behind him, "If that's the case, then let me remind you of your place in this world... beneath MY feet," he picks Cardin up and slams him to the ground.
Cardin growls as he gets up, "Argh! That's it. You want some of this, fine by me!" Cardin pulls out his mace.
However, he doesn't notice Edom on the rooftop above them. Edom brings out one of his skull phantoms and has it hit Cardin with a heavy dose of fear. Cardin takes a second look at Yatsuhashi and he gets bigger and more monstrous now. Cardin drops his mace and falls on his butt, crawling away as Yatsuhashi stalks closer to her. He gets into a fetal position before Yatsuhashi slams a foot down on his head.
"You mess with my friend, you mess with me," Yatsuhashi cracks his knuckles.
Edom and Velvet watch as Yatsuhashi proceeds to beat Cardin like a pinata. Vengeance is certainly sweet sometimes.
Skit 2: Fashion Advice
One day on the streets of Vale, Kali Belladonna looks at the display window of a fashion store, showing some women's clothing items on sale. She looks at the clothes with a pensive look in her eye.
"Hmm, would any of these look good on me? I fear I might be too old for the spring season look now," Kali laments.
"Too old for what?" another voice asks and Kali turns to see Yukari standing behind her.
"Ah! I mean, I just, uh..." Kali looks between Yukari and the store.
"Are you clothes shopping? Maybe I can help? What's the occasion?" Yukari asks.
"I'm sorry, I don't wish to bother you with a married woman's old woes," Kali tries to be polite.
"Okay, one, you don't look that old to me. Two, when it comes to fashion, no one's more knowledgeable than me, Yukari Hakucho. So, care to tell me what's been bothering you?" Yukari asks again.
Kali sighs, "Well, my wedding anniversary is coming up and I don't really have anything to wear. I'm sure my husband Ghira has something special planned; he always does. I just want to impress him, I suppose. I mean, I'm not getting any younger,"
Yukari waves her hand, "Hah, that's not a big deal. I'm sure I have something that can help with that. Come with me and we'll see what we have on display at my store," Yukari takes Kali's hand and starts dragging her away.
"Wait... your store?" a question mark pops up over Kali's head.

Inside Yukari's store, the fashion designer takes Kali's measurements and then quickly gets to work finding some dresses and clothes for her upcoming wedding anniversary. From a black dress with short mesh sleeves and a slit down the left side to a white pretty sundress to a white and black dress with a pencil skirt just past her knees; Yukari had her try on a lot of dresses and outfits for women. After that, she had her look at some accessories and makeup options to add to the look. Throughout the whole exchange, Kali basically went with the flow like an empty doll. Yukari was moving so fast she couldn't keep up. By the time they finished, Kali had ended up with two dresses, a couple of hats, some accessories, a makeup kit, and some products for her skin.
"Miss, I appreciate the help, but I don't believe I have enough to pay for all of this," Kali says.
"Oh don't worry about that. I you, the wife to Menagerie's chieftan were to wear my brand while at home and show it off, that's all I need. I'm always looking to expand my business, be it with humans or Faunus. It's on the house. Actually..." Yukari leans in close. "If you want a little extra, I can recommend some options for when you and your husband are alone at night after having your anniversary. Something that will definitely grab his attention and drive him wild," she wiggles her eyebrows.
"Uh..." Kali thinks about it for a moment. "...What did you have in mind?"
"I have a few ideas that would be just perfect for you, Miss Belladonna," Yukari claps her hands.
She's a businesswoman through and through.
Skit 3: How babies are made
Out at a local cafe in Vale, Voshkie'ahk is having a nice chat with Saphron and Terra Cotta over some sweets and tea.
"So that's how Jaune ended up learning how to dance. Well, I must admit, he does have skill," Voshkie'ahk notes.
"Yeah. We played all the time on the dancing game. It helped that we had a lot of energy when we were younger," Saphron laughs.
"Though nowadays, that energy is spent either at work or looking after Adrian. We joke about how he might be easier to deal with once he's older, but then we rethink that notion and realize that they'll be energetic or give us trouble in other ways. And whether they're a boy or a girl, they each have blessings and drawbacks," Terra notes.
"I see. If I have a child in the future, I might take your approach and only have one. I had this really weird dream once that kind of freaked me out," Voshkie'ahk sags in her seat.
"What kind of dream was it?" Saphron asks.
"In the dream, I was older. I had a house in the forest, and Yukari was my wife. However, that wasn't the weird part. The weird part was that we had eight kids, with a ninth on the way and Yukari was the one who carried them all," Voshkie'ahk explains.
"Whoa, nine. Geez, didn't know you had it in you, Voshkie'ahk," Terra jokes.
"Well, I can see that. You being the husband and Yukari being the wife in the family. Your professions make it where you may have to leave the house from time to time, but Yukari can pretty much do her work from home. Although, I feel like she would be the one in charge when it came to stuff best done behind closed doors. I've seen how she's had you wrapped around her at times," Saphron notes.
"If that's the case, then shouldn't Yukari be the husband and Voshkie'ahk be the wife? That might make even more sense," Terra taps her chin.
"It's not funny! I can understand one or two, but nine! I would go nuts. And how the blue heck were we both the biological parents? Our kids had features from both of us. I don't understand how that can happen," Voshkie'ahk cries.
"Well, for one, it was just a dream. You can't take stuff like that too seriously," Terra notes.
"Yeah, but... you guys had Adrian and when I saw him, it looked like he took features from both of you. How exactly did that happen?" Voshkie'ahk asks.
The married couple look between themselves and then smile back at Voshkie'ahk.
"That's a secret," they say together.
Voshkie'ahk gets confused, "Huh? But what if I have questions that could help me when I have a kid with Yukari?"
"Oh, so you intend to have a family with Yukari. But, you two would need to get married first," Saphron says.
Voshkie'ahk turns red, "W-W-W-W-What?! Married?! Wait, I'm not mentally prepared for that yet!"
"So, are you going to pop the question, or is Yukari?" Terra teases her.
"P-P-P-P-Propose?! Ah, I need to go... powder my nose!" Voshkie'ahk makes a beeline for the ladies' room at the cafe.
"Ah, teenagers in love can be so fun sometimes," Saphron says.
"Just wait until Adrian starts thinking about girls," Terra notes.
"Nope. Not until he's thirty," Saphron declares.
