A/N: This is my fourth original chapter for MF, the one involving chess that I promised you all.
I am so sorry for the delay, but a lot of things have happened since my last update, including updates on my favourites, having to rewrite scenes four times as it wouldn't save, and having to help out a sick friend.
Please read and review, as I worked hard on this.

In Root Core, the Rangers were all sitting around the table, as Daggeron paced around it, as they were all reading a book.
"I don't get what's the point of this?" Vida asked.
Susan lowered her book slightly, wearing her glasses as Daggeron stopped between her and Nick.
"Sometimes you need to be able to plan ahead in a fight." he explained. "Use strategy and the area around you to your advantage. Think before you act."
"He's got a point." Susan agreed. "Acting without thinking in a fight might do more harm than good."
Xander sighed as Vida rolled her eyes, before Daggeron patted Susan's shoulder.
"She's right." he said. "Don't rush in, but be prepared."
"So, this is like a game of chess?" Chip asked, putting his book down. "I'm an expert at that, so I know what you mean. Plan it one move at a time and be prepared."
"Sort of, Chip." Daggeron said. "But it's not always like that, as you never know what your opponent is thinking, so you need to be careful when you plan your move."
Susan sighed and turned her page.
"I'm terrible at chess, so I better work on this." she muttered.
Madison looked up at her, before Nick turned and touched her shoulder.
"I'm sure you'll think of something, Sue." he said. "We all do."
"Thanks, Nick." Susan said.
Madison smiled as she went back to reading, before she turned a page.
Meanwhile, in the Underworld, Imperious sat in his throne as Nercolai stood nearby.
"It is time to summon the Black King." he said, holding his fan up.
A spell seal opened up, and a black King chess piece monster came out, with a plus shaped crown, and a sword in a holder.
"I am free!" he whooped. "I am finally back."
He turned to Imperious and Nercolai, before Imperious approached him.
"Yes, you are, and now you will do my bidding." he said.
"As you wish, sire." Black King said, bowing on his knees.
"I want you to go out and use your mastery as a chess master to destroy the Rangers." Imperious explained. "Do whatever you have to, but make sure Solaris Knight is spared for me. Capture him."
"Understood." Black King said, getting up. "In fact, I think I know a way to capture all of them, and I can have a little fun while I'm at it."
He vanished beneath a spell seal, as Nercolai folded her arms.
"You sure he can pull this off, Imperious?" she asked.
"Oh, trust me, Black King is the best chess master I know off." Imperious assured. "He's never once lost a game, whether in battle or not. Oh, the Rangers won't stand a chance against him."
A little later, in the city, Black King stood on top of a building, looking down at the city.
"My, what a nice little playing field for a chess game?" he said. "Well, now it's time for the game to begin."
He jumped down from the roof and landed in the street, making people all around run off.
"AHH!" a few women screamed.
Black King chuckled as he took out his sword and fired a blast from it, hitting the ground near a wall, making sparks come up from it, as the people kept running off.
"If this doesn't draw the Rangers out, nothing will." he sniggered.
"Hold it right there!" came Daggeron's voice.
"Ah, they're here now." Black King smirked. "That was quicker than I thought."
He turned around and saw all seven Rangers coming towards him, before they stopped.
"I was wondering when you'd show up, Rangers." he smirked.
"Expecting us, eh?" Xander inquired.
"Yes." Black King said.
"Well, we're here, so what do you want with us?" Susan asked.
"Oh, just to have a little fun with you." Black King smirked.
"If that's what you want then." Daggeron scoffed. "Let's get him, Rangers!"
"Yah!" the others yelled, as they held their fists up.
They all charged at him, as he charged back, then he tried to slash Nick, but missed as he ducked and rolled past him, then Susan jumped over him as he tried to slash her legs. Daggeron spun around to kick him, but missed as he ducked, then he tried to slash Madison and Chip, but missed as they both rolled away.
On a nearby rooftop, Koragg was looking down at the scene, holding Morticon's sword.
"Well, what do we have here?" he wondered.
Black King spun around and slashed Vida across the chest, knocking her down, then he slashed Xander's leg with it as he tried to kick him.
"OH!" Xander moaned, spinning around.
He fell onto his chest near Vida, as Black King turned to the others, before Daggeron took out his lamp.
"Laser lamp!" he shouted, firing it.
Black King jumped up to avoid the blasts, then he dived down and slashed Daggeron down the chest with his sword.
"AHH!" he moaned.
"Daggeron!" Madison gasped.
"NOOO!" Chip cried.
Black King turned to them both, before he slashed them both with his sword, knocking them both down.
"AH!" they moaned, before they rolled over.
Black King sniggered, just as Susan grabbed his arm from behind.
"Leave them alone!" she demanded.
Black King turned to her slightly, then moved his arm, pushing her forward and making her let go, before he kicked her belly, knocking her back.
"OH!" she moaned.
She fell down onto her back near Chip and Madison, who looked up at her.
"Sue, you okay?" Madison asked.
"Yeah!" Susan groaned, sitting up, clutching her chest.
They all looked up, as Nick spun around to kick Black King, but missed as he ducked and ran past him, before he slashed Nick across the chest as he turned around.
"AH!" Nick moaned.
He hit the ground and rolled over, as the others all gathered around him.
"AH!" Nick moaned, stopping on his chest.
Black King laughed as they all looked up at him, before they got up.
"Is that all you've got, Rangers?" he sneered. "I expected better from Udonna's students. She's just sent me a bunch of pawns and a weak knight."
"Hey, you don't know us that well!" Daggeron scowled, pointing at him.
"Yeah, right?" Black King scoffed. "You're nothing but a bunch of terrible players!"
"What's that mean?" Chip demanded, clutching his fists.
"You act first without thinking!" Black King scoffed.
"Oh, that does it!" Xander snapped.
He charged forward, before Black King slashed him across the chest with his sword.
"OH!" he moaned.
He hit the ground and rolled towards the others.
"Xander!" Vida gasped.
"Bro!" Susan cried, as they crouched near him.
They both helped him up as Nick and Chip got in front of them, as Black King laughed.
"You see what I mean?" he asked. "Anyway, this is boring. Let's spice things up here."
He aimed and fired blasts from his sword at the Rangers, hitting them all, making sparks come out of them.
"AHH!" they moaned, as they got knocked off their feet.
The girls all hit the ground on their chests, the boys on their back, before Nick rolled onto his side.
"And now for the grand main event." Black King joked.
He held up his sword as lighting shot out of it.
"Sigillum statuae!" he yelled, holding his hand out in front of him
A spell seal appeared above the Rangers as they got up, making them all look up at it.
"Look out!" Susan cried.
She jumped away to her left, before Black King pointed his sword forward, causing the spell seal got over the others and shoot lighting onto them all.
"AHH!" they moaned.
Susan hit and rolled along the ground, before she turned around, seeing the others struggling.
"NOOO!" Susan cried.
Black King laughed.
"AHH!" the Rangers moaned, as lighting came up from the spell seal.
Madison and Chip turned around slightly, as Xander and Vida clutched themselves, while Nick fell to his knees, and Daggeron leaned back slightly, clutching his fists, before they all froze soiled like statues.
"Time for them to go." Black King joked, snapping his fingers.
The six Rangers inside the spell seal moaned, before it went over them all, making them vanish with it.
"Guys!" Susan cried, reaching out.
Black King turned to her.
"Oh, looks like one manged to escape." he joked. "Perfect."
"What did you do to them, Black King?!" Susan demanded, clutching her fists.
"Why, I just sent them to a little dimension to keep them away from here." Black King explained, sniggering.
"Let them all go, now!" Susan demanded, pointing at him.
"I'll tell you what, I'll let them go if you beat me in a game of chess, Ranger." Black King said.
"What?!" Susan exclaimed. "But I-"
"And to make it fair, I'll give you a full 24 hours to practice with Udonna, Ranger." Black King sneered. "Bye-bye."
He turned around as a spell seal came beneath him, making him vanish as Susan ran towards him.
"Wait, get back here?!" she demanded, before she stopped. "Ah! Now what do I do?"
She turned and ran off, as Koragg looked at her.
"Hmm? Looks like someone's offering the Purple Ranger a fair challenge?" he said. "This is something I must keep an eye on."
Later, at Root Core, Susan walked in and approached the table, looking around frantically.
"Udonna! Clare!" she called.
Udonna came down the stairs on her left.
"Susan, what's wrong?" she asked.
"Udonna, the others have been captured." Susan explained frantically. "I barely escaped when Black King cast a spell which transported them somewhere!"
"Oh, dear. This is grave news." Udonna said.
"I know. And to make matters worse, I don't know where he sent them, as he vanished afterwards." Susan explained. "He said he'd only release them if I did something."
"So, what does he want you to do?" Udonna asked.
"He wants me to play a game of chess with him." Susan explained. "If I win, they go free. I hate to think what might happen if I lose."
Udonna gasped, covering her mouth with her hand.
"This is not good news at all." she said, lowering it.
She turned and walked off slightly, as Susan turned to her.
"Udonna, what is it?" Susan asked.
"I'm afraid Black King is one of the best chess players in the magical realm." Udonna explained, turning to her. "As far as I know, no one has ever beaten him."
"Are you sure?" Susan asked frantically.
"Yes." Udonna nodded.
Susan sighed and lowered her head.
"You're gonna have to try and beat him somehow, but it won't be easy." Udonna cautioned. "I suggest you start researching chess moves to try and beat him."
"But Udonna, I'm terrible at chess!" Susan argued. "I've never been any good! How can I beat someone like that!"
"I don't know, but you're gonna have to try and think." Udonna explained.
"Oh, that's easier said than done!" Susan snapped.
She turned around and ran off, leaving Udonna upset slightly, before she sighed.
"She has to figure out a way." she muttered.
A little later, in a quarry, Black King stood at the top of a cliff, looking down.
"This will be the perfect place for my little game tomorrow." he said. "When the Purple Ranger arrives, she will soon join the others."
A spell seal suddenly appeared on the ground behind him, and Imperious came out.
"So, this is where you are?" he inquired.
Black King turned around and saw Imperious coming towards him.
"Yes. I am planning the next step of my plan." he explained.
"You have the Rangers captured then?" Imperious asked.
"Most of them." Black King assured. "The Purple Ranger managed to escape my spell, but I will capture her tomorrow, when I beat her in a game of chess."
"You sure that's wise?" Imperious asked. "You should have captured her like the rest!"
"Oh, you know me, the best chess player in the magical realm." Black King said. "Oh, trust me, she'll be joining her friends soon enough."
"When is this challenge?" Imperious inquired.
"Tomorrow." Black King replied. "With my record, she's bound to lose."
"Well, for your sake, I hope so." Imperious said. "If you fail this, the Master will not be happy."
"I understand, but I won't lose." Black King assured.
"We shall see." Imperious said.
He turned around as a spell seal appeared beneath him, then he vanished beneath it.
"Oh, you and the Master will not be disappointed." Black King assured.
He turned around and clicked his fingers, making a spell seal appear above the ground, before the captured all fell from it.
"AH!" they moaned.
Vida and Madison hit the ground on their backs, Daggeron his side, the others their chests.
"Oh!" they groaned.
Xander looked up at Black King, before he got up and ran at him, only to hit a forcefield barrier.
"AH!" he groaned, backing away.
He fell to his knees as the others got up, before the sisters crouched down beside him, touching his shoulders.
"Xander, you okay?" Vida asked.
"Yeah." Xander replied. "What happened?"
"You hit a forcefield barrier." Daggeron explained. "We'll have to try and break free."
"Oh, I wouldn't do that." Black King smirked.
The Rangers all turned to him.
"Where are we, you fiend?" Chip demanded.
"Why, can't you see for yourself, Ranger?" Black King sneered.
The Rangers all looked around as the sisters helped Xander up.
"We can see we're in a forest!" Nick snapped, clutching his fists. "Why'd you bring us here?!"
"Oh, you'll just be spending the night here until the Purple Ranger shows up." Black King smirked. "She's gonna be playing a game of chess with me."
"Like she'd do that?" Vida scoffed.
"Yeah, Susan will never do that!" Xander snapped, pointing at him.
"Oh, I believe she will." Black King smirked.
"She'll never fall for your sick game!" Madison snapped.
"Oh, she will, with the right motivation." Black King assured. "That's where you lot come in."
"What are you talking about?" Daggeron demanded.
"This." Black King said, before he pointed his sword at them. "Darnau gwyddbwyll!"
A spell shot from his sword, which hit the six Rangers.
"AH!" they gasped.
A light surrounded them all.
"What's...happening?" Xander panicked.
"I have...no idea!" Daggeron moaned.
"AHH! Can't...resist!" Vida moaned.
"Me neither!" Chip groaned.
They all fell to their knees as the light consumed them, before it vanished, turning them all into chess piece heads.
"Perfect." Black King smirked. "If the Purple Ranger needs a good motivation, this will be it."
Meanwhile, in the forest, Susan was sitting against a tree, throwing stones away as she looked sad.
"Oh, man. What am I gonna do?" she wondered. "I'll never get the others back."
She threw a stone away, just as Phineas popped out of a bush behind her.
"Never get the others back?" he questioned.
"Ah!" Susan gasped, turning around. "Oh, it's you, Phineas."
"Yeah, it's me. So, what's this about never getting the others back?" Phineas asked.
Susan sighed and turned away.
"They've been captured by this monster who resembles a chess piece." she explained.
"Oh, that's too bad." Phineas said, sitting down beside her. "Sounds like when Nick got trapped in that other dimension. The way you guys looked back then really worried me."
Susan sighed and threw a stone away.
"Still, you must be thinking of a way to save them?" Phineas inquired.
"That's the thing, I don't know." Susan sighed, throwing a stone away. "Black King said he'll only release them if I beat him in a game of chess, and I'm terrible at that."
"Oh... Well, that's awful." Phineas said. "Being forced to play a game you don't know, or else you're not gonna be able to rescue your friends. Pretty tough choice."
"It is. I don't know how I'm gonna beat him. Udonna says he's the best chess player here, and that no one's beaten him." Susan sighed, throwing a stone away.
"Oh, that's harsh. Still, you shouldn't look so bummed." Phineas said. "Even a champion like him can lose once in a while."
Susan rolled her eyes and threw a stone away.
"I mean, nearly everyone can slip up if they're overconfident." Phineas said.
Susan turned to him.
"You might get lucky and beat him. You should at least try for the others sake, if you wanna get them back." Phineas said.
Susan dropped the rest of her stones and turned away slightly.
"Of course, you'll need to study and learn every trick there is to do so." Phineas continued. "That will come in handy for you, especially if you wanna try and save the others."
Susan turned away slightly, thinking, as Phineas' words rang through her head.
"You're right, Phineas." she said, getting his attention. "I can't give up. I may be terrible at chess, but I have to try for the others sake."
She turned around and touched his shoulder.
"Thanks, Phineas." she said.
She got up and ran off, leaving Phineas smiling.
"Oh, shucks." he blushed. "You're welcome, Susan. See you around!"
He waved as Susan kept on running, knowing what she had to do.
A little later, at Root Core, Susan sat at the table, wearing her glasses as she read a book about chess, hoping to get some tactics that might help.
"There's gotta be something in here to help." she thought, turning the page. "I need to study and learn every trick if I'm to beat this guy."
She looked at the page carefully, reading it as she traced her finger along it.
As she did, Udonna and Clare both watched her while standing near the Xenotome.
"I think Phineas' words have really made her come around." Clare said.
"I agree. Let us hope she'll be able to beat Black King tomorrow." Udonna said.
Susan kept reading the book as she traced it with her finger. Later, she was reading another book, this one larger than the first, resting it on the table, then soon read a smaller book, resting her elbows on the table. Later, as it got dark, she read another book carefully, before Clare came over to her with a goblet.
"How many books you gonna read?" she asked.
"As many as I can." Susan replied. "The more I learn, the better chance I have."
"Right. Well, here, something to drink." Clare said, putting the goblet down.
"Thanks." Susan said.
Clare smiled and backed away slightly.
"This is just juice, isn't it?" Susan asked.
"Yeah. I may be bumbling with spells and potions, but I do know how to make drinks easily." Clare assured.
Susan picked up the goblet and took a sip, but found nothing wrong with it.
"I see. Thanks, Clare." she said. "I just didn't want a similar thing like when Xander almost got turned into a tree."
"I understand, Susan." Clare said. "Good luck."
She turned and walked off, as Susan went back to reading.
The next day, at the quarry, Black King stood with his arms folded, looking at the sky.
"It's been nearly 24 hours." he said. "She should be here by now, if she wants to rescue her friends."
He folded his arms, just as Koragg stood on top of a cliff, looking down at him.
"Unless the Purple Ranger doesn't come, her friends will be trapped forever." he thought. "It would be unhonorable not too in this matter."
Susan suddenly walked towards Black King from behind.
"Looking for someone?" she inquired.
Black King turned around to her, as she glared at him, while Koragg turned to her.
"Ah, you've arrived, and just in time." Black King smirked. "I heard from your friends that you're terrible at chess."
"Yes, I am." Susan admitted. "But that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try and beat you to rescue them!"
"Good." Black King smirked. "You ready?"
"Almost." Susan replied.
She brought out and lowered her morpher pressed the three buttons.
"Magical Source, Mystic Force!"
(Morph sequence)
Galwit Mysto Ranger
A spell shot out from her wand, creating a spell seal above her. Her Mystic spirt came out of the spell seal and landed behind her, as she did her action.
"Yah!" she yelled, jumping up.
She went through the spell seal, morphing up, then she turned as her helmet came on, before doing her Mystic hand pose.
"Yah!" she shouted.
(End morph sequence)
"Now I'm ready." Susan said, clutching her fists.
"Good." Black King smirked.
"Where's my friends?!" Susan demanded. "Tell me, or I'm not playing!"
Black King sniggered and snapped his fingers, before the other Rangers chess pieces showed up near the cliff face.
"There you go." he said. "Don't worry, they'll be turned back to normal once you beat me."
"Fine." Susan said.
"Now, all we need is our chessboard." Black King said.
"Well, where is it?" Susan asked.
Black King held up his sword, as the end glowed.
"Here it is now." he said.
Magic came up around them both, transporting them to a giant chess board, with Black King on one end, Susan the other.
"And now for the pieces." he said, holding up his sword.
Magic shot out of it, then Human sized white chess pieces came up behind him, while the black pieces came up behind Susan.
"Wait, what kind of chess game is this?" Susan demanded.
"My kind of chess." Black King smirked. "Instead of moving the pieces by hand, you call out the mouths like commanding soldiers into battle. I hope you've been doing your research, Ranger."
"Oh, I have, and you're in for quite a game." Susan assured.
"Then, let the game begin." Black King said. "And just to be fair, I'm gonna be white, as you can see."
Susan folded her arms and nodded.
"Fine." she said.
"Good. Pawn, to E 4." Black King said.
The fifth white pawn moved two squares forward, then stopped.
Susan looked at her pieces, thinking about her move.
"Pawn to D 5." she said.
A black pawn moved two squares forward, putting it diagonally against the white one.
"Pawn to D 5." Black King smirked.
His white pawn turned to Susan's, then smashed it to pieces, shocking Susan, before it took her pawn's place.
"Not quite what you expected, eh?" he inquired.
"No." Susan gulped. "Not at all."
She looked at her pieces, knowing she had to think carefully about this.
"Uh, pawn to B 6." she said.
A black pawn moved forward one square on the left, only one off the right end.
"Hmm? Queen to G 4." Black King said.
The white queen moved diagonally four squares to its right.
"Um... Knight to C 6." Susan said.
Her right knight jumped over her pawn and landed beside on its left.
"Pawn to C 3." Black King said.
One of his pawns moved forward one square.
"Pawn to F 5." Susan said.
One of her pawns moved forward two squares.
"Bishop to B 5." Black King said.
His right Bishop moved diagonally four squares to its left.
"Uh... Knight to B 4." Susan gulped.
Her right knight jumped past his Bishop and landed one square behind him.
"Pawn to D 6." Black King said.
His pawn moved one square forward, only two away from Susan's queen, who looked at it.
"Um... Pawn to D 6." she said.
Her pawn in front of her right bishop turned and smashed his pawn, then moved into its spot.
"Cleaver move." Black King remarked. "Really cleaver move. Queen to E 4."
His queen moved left two squares.
"Hmm?" Susan muttered, thinking carefully. "Bishop to A 6."
Her right bishop moved two squares diagonally to her right.
"Pawn to H 4." Black King said.
His far right pawn moved forward two squares.
"Knight to H 6." Susan said.
Her left knight jumped and landed in front of her far left pawn.
A few moves later, several more pieces had been smashed and removed, including four of Susan's pawns, one of her bishop's, and her queen, while Black King had lost three pawns, a knight, both rooks, and both bishops.
"Pawn to G 4." Susan said.
Her pawn moved forward one square.
"Knight to D 5." Black King said.
His left knight moved to D 5, taking one of her pawns with it.
"Rook to B 3." Susan said.
Her left castle moved down four squares forward to B 3.
"Queen to B 3." Black King said.
His queen turned and moved two squares left, before it smashed her rook, before taking its spot on B 3.
"You seem to like sacrificing your pieces, Ranger." Black King smirked. "Your move."
Susan looked at her remaining pieces, seeing her remaining rook and one of her knights had his king in a check area, but his queen was blocking a route for her bishop to put it in checkmate. She then saw her other knight's place, getting an idea.
"I hope this works. If he moves the queen there, I can beat him." she thought.
"Well, are you moving or not?" Black King asked.
"Oh, I am. Knight to G 3." Susan said.
Her left knight moved to G 3, putting the white king in check.
"Check." Susan said.
"Queen to G 3." Black King said.
The white queen moved five squares to the right and took out the knight, before taking its spot.
"Your turn." Black King said.
"Bishop to B 4." Susan said.
Her bishop moved diagonally four squares to the left, blocking the white king from moving.
"Checkmate." Susan said.
"NOOO!" Black King gasped. "Impossible!"
"You've lost. See for yourself?" Susan teased.
Black King looked at the black pieces, seeing his white king was indeed trapped between her remaining bishop, knight - which was on C 5 - and castle - which was on E 6. Her remaining pieces weren't near it, but he saw he couldn't move.
"I don't believe this!" he roared. "Impossible!"
He slammed his sword against the ground, transporting them both back to the quarry, before he growled angrily, as Koragg looked at them.
"So, Black King actually lost." he thought. "Even I'm impressed."
"No one has ever beaten me!" Black King growled. "No one!"
"Until now. You've lost, Black King." Susan smirked. "Now let my friends go!"
"AGHH!" Black King growled. "You must've cheated!"
"Oh, I didn't. You just got cocky." Susan mocked.
"AH! I will destroy you!" Black King roared, charging at her.
Susan gasped, before she ducked and rolled past him as he tried to slash her with his sword, before she got up. They both turned to each other, before Susan grabbed the end of his sword as he tried to slash her, stopping it inches from her right shoulder.
"AH!" Black King growled.
"Hey, we had a deal!" Susan groaned. "You said you'd let them go!"
"You cheated, so I won't honor that!" Black King snapped, accusingly.
Susan grunted as she lifted his sword up slightly, as Koragg kept his eyes on them.
"If the Purple Ranger did cheat, they'd still be stuck in that realm." he thought. "Black King's letting his ego get the better of him. It won't allow him to win."
Susan lifted Black King's sword up slightly, before she kicked his chest, knocking him back slightly.
"Oh!" he moaned.
He stumbled back, before he looked up, then Susan jumped up.
"Yah!" she yelled, twirling around.
She corkscrew kicked Black King in the chest, sending him flying away.
"AHHH!" he yelled.
He hit the ground and rolled over, his sword hitting the ground, getting wedged into it, as it glowed.
"That's for lying to me!" Susan scowled, folding her arms.
She turned around as the other Rangers all lit up, before they turned back to normal.
"AHHH!" they yelled, before they hit the ground. "OH!"
"Guys?" Susan gasped, running towards them.
The others all got to their knees and shook their heads, before Nick and Xander turned to her.
"Sue?" Xander gasped, getting to his feet. "What happened?"
"Yeah. Last thing I remember was Black King and a bright light." Nick recalled.
"He turned you all into chess piece heads." Susan explained.
"Well, how'd we get back to normal?" Vida questioned.
"I beat him in a game of chess, a giant version of it." Susan explained.
"Wait, you beat that guy in a game of chess?" Chip questioned.
"Yeah." Susan replied. "Got lucky, I guess. Tricked him."
"Wait a minute, a giant version?" Madison inquired.
"Yeah. I had to tell the pieces what to do." Susan explained.
"You did good, Susan." Daggeron said, touching her shoulder. "Took him on despite being terrible and beat him."
"Thanks." Susan said.
"AHH!" Black King groaned.
The Rangers all turned to him as he pulled himself up.
"You will pay for this, Purple Ranger!" he growled, pulling his sword from the ground. "You'll all pay! No one beats Black King, no one!"
A spell seal appeared beneath Black King, then he began to grow giant as he roared.
"Now I'm gonna make you all pay for this!" he roared.
The Rangers all backed away slightly and looked up at him.
"Guess he wants a rematch." Susan joked.
"I agree." Nick said. "I think your hurt his ego."
"We'll take this one together." Daggeron said.
"Right." Nick agreed.
All but Daggeron took out their morphers and lowered them in wand mode, before they held them up.
"Ready!" the others said.
Xander spun around, followed by Vida, Madison, Chip, Susan, and then Nick.
"Galwit Mysto Prifior!" they shouted, bending down, before they held their wands up, pressing the button.
The screen split into six, Vida in the top left, Nick in the top middle, Xander in the top right, Chip in the bottom left, Susan in the bottom middle, Madison in the bottom right. They all grew and went through their spell seals, transforming into their Titan modes.
Xander turned himself around and lowered his legs, the feet folding back, then Madison split in half and attached each half to Xander, forming the legs. Chip screeched as he spread his wings out, which turned around, then landed on Xander's back, forming the wings. Susan neighed before she spread her wings out, while retracting her arms and legs, then retracted her head and landed on top of Chip, then her wings went over Chip's. Xander's chest opened up, while his head's horns combined into the wizard's hat/helmet. Vida and Nick both combined into the square and went into Xander's chest, forming the the Titan Megazord, which raised is hat/helmet over its eyes.
Daggeron landed in the Solar Streak's cockpit.
"My turn." he said.
He took out a ticket which had all six train cars on, which he punched a hole in with his morpher.
"Solar Streak Megazord!" he shouted, holding the ticket up.
The train's four cars all separated, then lines moved around the cars towards the sun symbol between them. The wheels of the engine car rotated out, then rotated upwards on either side of the front, as the cow catcher rotated down 180 degrees. The back end of the coal car rotated down 180 degrees, attaching to the bottom, as the front end did the same, attaching to the top, as the head popped up. The four passenger cars changed into arms or legs shapes, which all attached around the coal car, then the front car attached in front of the coal car, forming the Solar Streak Megazord, which held up its fists.
Black King stared at both Megazords, as they got ready to fight.
"You Rangers are going down!" he roared, bringing out his sword.
He charged at both Megazords, then tried to slash the Solar Streak Megazord with his sword, but it blocked it with its forearm, then punched his chest, knocking him back slightly, before he turned around. The Titan Megazord raised its saber up to slash him, but he slashed its chest before it could, knocking him back.
"OH!" the Rangers moaned, wobbling.
Black King turned as the Solar Streak Megazord came towards him, before he jumped up, somersaulting over it, then landed behind it. He turned around and slashed it across the back, knocking it forward.
"AH!" Daggeron groaned.
"Whoa! Hey, no fair!" Jenji complained. "Who hits someone when they back is turned!"
"That's not a rule in chess, expect for the pawns!" Black King sneered.
The Solar Streak Megazord turned around as the Titan Megazord came up beside it, before Black King fired blasts from his sword at them both, hitting them, making sparks come out.
"AHH!" the Rangers moaned.
"AH!" Daggeron and Jenji groaned.
The Titan Megazord fell down onto its back, as the Solar Streak Megazord managed to stay on its feet.
"That guy needs to hold still!" Jenji complained.
"Agreed. "Remote Train Car, go!" Daggeron shouted, pulling a lever back.
The upper part of the Solar Streak Megazord's legs lowered themselves down, showing the two smaller trains, which shot out on magical train tracks.
"Is that the best you've got?" Black King scoffed.
He sliced up the left track with his sword, destroying the train, followed by the right one, destroying that ones train as well.
"What?" Daggeron exclaimed.
"And now, for the next move." Black King joked, shooting a blast from his sword.
The blast hit the Solar Streak Megazord, making sparks came out all over it, before it hit the ground on its back.
"AGHHH!" Daggeron and Jenji moaned.
"That was too easy." Black King smirked, standing over it.
"Hmm. Looks like the Rangers have lost this one after all." Koragg thought.
The Titan Megazord sat up and looked over, as Black King raised his sword up to stab the Solar Streak Megazord.
"Oh, no, Daggeron's in trouble!" Nick gasped.
"We gotta get up!" Madison groaned.
"He's too fast for us!" Xander argued. "Not to mention pretty good at strategy."
"I don't care! I beat him once, and I'll do it again!" Susan exclaimed, clutching her fist. "We just need a plan!"
"You're right, Sue!" Nick agreed.
"Count me in." Chip said.
"Me too." Vida nodded.
"Then let's do it!" Nick said.
The Mystic symbol behind them began to glow, lighting up the cockpit, making them look up.
"Huh?" they muttered.
They all raised their Magi Staffs up, when the ends began to glow.
"Whoa." they said.
They all lowered their Magi Staffs and looked at the ends.
"All right, a new spell!" Vida whooped.
"Sweet." Chip said. "We could us it."
"Then let's put it to the test." Susan grinned.
The Titan Megazord got up and stared at Black King, who began to lower his sword, when the Titan Megazord dashed right past him and slashed him.
"AH!" he moaned.
"What?" Koragg gasped.
Black King stumbled away, before he turned to the Titan Megazord, which held up its saber as it stared at him.
"How'd you do that?" he demanded.
"You're about to find out, the hard way." Susan joked.
The Titan Megazord got into a running position.
"What?" Black King gasped.
"Titan Megazord, speed attack!" the Rangers yelled, holding their Magi Staffs up.
The Titan Megazord began dashing towards Black King like a blur, catching him off guard.
"No way?!" he exclaimed.
The Titan Megazord slashed him across the chest, then jumped up as he turned around, before it dived down and slashed him down the chest.
"AH!" he moaned, before it ran off.
It turned around and dashed towards him, slashing him as it went past him, then it turned and slashed him down the back, knocking him forward.
"OH!" he moaned.
He turned around, just as the Titan Megazord slashed him down the chest, knocking him down onto his back.
"AHH!" he moaned.
The Solar Streak Megazord got up and stared at the Titan Megazord, which turned to it.
"Nice work, Rangers." Daggeron remarked, holding his thumb up.
"Thanks." Nick said. "That new spell's gonna come in handy."
"It sure is." Susan agreed.
Black King moaned as he got up, getting both Megazords' attention.
"Lucky move, Rangers!" he roared. "But it won't save you!"
"Oh, we'll see about that." Susan smirked. "Let's put an end to his game once and for all, guys?"
"I'm with you, sis." Xander said.
"Same here." Vida said.
"You got it." Madison said.
"Count me in." Chip said.
"Then let's do it!" Nick said.
"Time to finish this!" Daggeron said.
"Well, what are you gonna do?" Black King smirked. "You'll never beat me?"
"Oh, we'll see about that!" Susan retorted. "Ready, guys?"
"Ready!" the others said, as they all crossed their forearms over.
"Hyah!" they all yelled, holding up their Magi Staffs. "Yah!"
They all rolled their left arms forward, before putting their hands over their symbol on their pawns making them glow, before they held up their Magi Staffs.
"Mystic Spell Seal!" they shouted.
The Titan Megazord waved its saber around, creating the Mystic Spell Seal, before it held up its saber as its wings spread out. The symbols on the spell seal lit up, before it slashed its saber down through the seal, hitting Black King as the seal went over him.
"AHHH!" he moaned, as sparks came out of over him.
"My turn. Furnace Blast!" Daggeron shouted, pushing a lever forward.
The Solar Streak Megazord's chest lowered itself down, then shot a blast out.
"Fire!" Daggeron yelled.
The blast hit Black King, which began pulling him towards it.
"AHH!" he moaned. "AHH!"
He shrank down to size and got pulled into the Solar Streak Megazord, before he got pulled into the firebox, and then blew up as the door closed, then its chest closed up.
The Rangers put their Magi Staffs in their left hands, while holding their right out.
"Checkmate!" they said, clicking their fingers.
"Checkmate." Daggeron said, clicking his fingers.
Both Megazords stood at ease beside each other.
"Hmm? So, the great chess master has been defeated." Koragg thought, turning around. "Guess his ego got the best of him."
He walked off, not seen by either of the Megazords.
Later, in the Underworld, Imperious got up from the throne angrily, as Nercolai stared at him.
"I don't believe it! I just don't believe it!" he roared, waving his fan angrily. "Black King lost in a game of chess, then got destroyed by his own ego!"
"Even the Master seems surprised, Imperious." Nercolai assured.
"Well, the Rangers may have won this round." Imperious said, turning to her. "But next time, they won't be so lucky. I'll come up with a plan that will succeed, that I can assure you and the Master."
He turned around and walked off, as Nercolai folded her arms.
Meanwhile, in Root Core, the Rangers all stood near the table, as Daggeron stood with Udonna in front of them.
"I am so glad to see you're all alright." Udonna said. "When Susan told me what happened, Clare and I were worried."
"You did well, Susan." Daggeron remarked. "You managed to beat the best chess player fair and square, all because you thought carefully and planned your moves."
"Thanks." Susan blushed, embarrassed. "I still can't believe he fell for that though."
"Well, even an expect can make a simple mistake." Daggeron assured. "Your plan worked and paid off by fooling him."
Nick patted Susan's shoulder, making her turn around to the others.
"You did well, Sue." he said.
"Yeah. We owe you one, sis." Xander said, nodding.
"Thanks." Susan said.
"So, Sue, you up for a game of chess?" Chip asked. "Since you beat that creep and freed us, you might be better than before."
Susan turned to him, putting her hand to her chin.
"You know what, you're on, Chip, but you're being white." she said.
"Deal." Chip said.
They both turned and walked off, as the others stared at them.
"I wonder how this'll turn out?" Vida wondered.
"Only one way to find out." Madison grinned.
They all began to follow Chip and Susan.
A little later, both Susan and Chip sat the table with a chessboard between them, as Nick, Xander, Madison and Vida stood around them, watching carefully. Susan had lost one bishop, one rook, five pawns and her queen, while Chip had lost both rooks, three pawns, one bishop and a knight. Her king was on square C 7, her pawns on F 3, B 5, and D 5, her rook on A 4, her bishop on E 6, and her knights on E 7 and D 4, while Chip's king was on square C 1, his queen on C 4, his bishop on F 4, his knight on G 5, and his pawns were on H 3, A 3, E 4, F 2 and B 2, the last two he hadn't moved at all.
"My turn." Chip said.
He grabbed his bishop and moved it to D 6, putting it beside hers.
"Why, thank you, Chip." Susan said.
She grabbed her left knight and moved it to D 6, taking his bishop off.
"Oh, nice move." Chip admitted.
He moved one of his pawns to B 3, before Susan moved her castle to C 4, taking his queen.
"What?" Chip questioned.
"You didn't see that one, did ya?" Xander grinned.
"Check." Susan said.
Chip looked at the board, seeing she was right, making him move his king to B 1. Susan grinned and moved her bishop to F 5, putting his king in check.
"Check." she said.
Chip moved his king to A 1 frantically, before Susan moved her right knight to B 3.
"Checkmate." she said.
The others all looked at the board, seeing Chip's king trapped.
"Whoa." Vida said. "She's got you, Chip. You can't move your king."
"Yeah. If you move it forward, she'll move her castle to block." Madison noted.
"She's got your really trapped." Nick joked.
"Well, you have improved, sis." Xander remarked.
"Thanks, bro." Susan said.
"Alright, you win." Chip sighed. "Man, next time there's a chess tournament, you better try out. Show people how much you've improved."
"Thanks, I think I will, Chip." Susan said, getting up. "I guess studying every trick really paid off."
She turned and walked off as the others looked at her, all of them smiling.
