Another part to the story, this start changed forms a bit. The first one being a pretty gorey dream sequence, to a lesser more narrative one about Zet's past. Yet it just didn't feel like we got to the part where we can get bloody. So for now gonna keep that little nugget in the back of my head to use at a later date. For now though we get to see the daily life of Zet as he lives on Patch and how it has affected the people of the island.
Zet's eyes blinked open as he began to hear the morning calls of the birds that lived on this island. With a loud yawn he got off of his improvised bed made of shadow-spawn fur, and leaves. Taking a big stretch of his body followed by a scratch of a particular region of his back that needed it. Zet looked at his surroundings again to get his bearing once more.
It was around the second day here that he started to feel tired, which was a strange feeling to have once again. Hells he can't even remember the last time he fell asleep the purpose of rest. Yet here he is waking up from a restive sleep and wondering what to do. Well, he knew one thing that he was going to do today. Find more of those shadow beasts and put the fear of the creator into their non-existent souls.
But he did spend the last two full days going on a rampage killing every single one he found until he found the cave he was currently in and made his sleeping roll to rest on. Looking at the wall to his left he saw that before he had fallen asleep, he had marked the days he had been in this realm and the amount of shadow beasts he had slain.
Counting the ten marks craved onto the wall he had to his count had killed over four hundred shadow beasts give or take. Which was a good amount, it meant fewer shadow beasts going and attacking the people of this island. Thinking his choices over, he thought on what to do. He could go out and find more of the shadow beasts to kill, but that would take up more time of the day and for all he knew more of these beasts could be spawning. Or go find where the people of island lived and see if he could figure out their language.
Mulling over it a bit more he nodded his head and chose to investigate the people of the island, try to understand their language and see what this realm had to offer. Clapping his hands together he energized himself for the rest of the day and began his little trip away from his camp.
Striding through the forest Zet really began to enjoy the sights and sounds around him, the unique foliage that he was walking through, the sounds of the birds and animals of the forest filling the air. It seemed with so many of the shadow beasts getting cut down the forest felt more alive. Zet let a smile take his lips as he enjoyed the feeling of pride filling his heart knowing he was doing something good once again, even in this weakened form he was still fighting the good fight for the realms.
His little forest trot ended when his feet stepped onto a paved road, Zet blinked and looked down crouching to inspect the road. It was a fairly basic brick-and-rock road so it meant whatever settlement that was here was a low-capacity one, or whoever the leader here really didn't care about the roads. Knowing people both had a high chance of being right. Looking both ways down the road the next choice came up, which way to civilization. Looking down the eastern path if he squinted his eyes he could what looked like to be a signpost. So there was something to get him direction, walking down the road his few strides got him to said signpost.
Thus the hardest part began, looking at the sign the written language was well not one he could read. The text was in a basic line pattern which possibly showed some deviation from Slavic, or latin godly text. Yet at the same time, it did have the hard angles of Norse and Germanic texts as well. There were also some hints of Arabic as well if the number to the side of the main text was to represent a numeral distance from this point. Letting out a anyoned sigh letting one of his hands mask his face. He came to a very annoying conclusion.
This was a Mutt text, a mix of written formats that took from multiple languages to form this more recent text language. Oh how wonderful, he truly was gonna have to start from scratch, he knew he was gonna start from scratch before in the spoken tongue. But a part of him did have hope that maybe just maybe the text followed a known format. So he didn't have to spend months or by the creator a year to try and figure out whatever Mutt language the people here spoke. Yet this simple damnable signpost dashed that all away that hope.
So once again he came to the choice of which direction to go only a bit more miffed this time around. Looking at the damnable sign he let out a sigh as he looked down the road that continued on the path he was taking. Shaking his head he looked at the cursed sign once more giving it a glare that if he had his powers it would either ignite or gain sentience and run away. Since neither happened he just moved away from the sign swearing he would learn whatever that sign had on it.
While he was walking down the path his eyes and ears were on alert, either for someone coming down the road or for any other shadow beasts that might be lurking in the nearby woods.
It was a quiet walk down the road a transition from the brick and mortar road to a more dirt-packed one, but at the end of it was a quaint little two-story cabin. Zet smiled at memories of more peaceful times when he would make or live in his own little cabins across the realms. Before he saw it his nose picked up it, a quick dash into some nearby shrubbery and changing his skin and fur to be more covered in branches and leaves to camouflage. He saw the drunk and the two children walking out the front door.
The little group was also being escorted out by another male human one who had some very bright yellow hair. Must be the father of the kids then, the resemblance to the yellow-haired was on point. The black-haired toddler did have a resemblance to the drunk but not exactly, maybe a cousin or close relative. The two adults were talking to each other, he could hear a few of their words from this distance but again now knowing it was a mutt language he could only focus on their lips and throat and cut down a few languages based on their movements. Their body language was another thing he was looking at and the glare the yellowed-haired father was giving his child. Well looks like the little yellow one got in trouble.
Most likely because she left home, or nearly got killed by one of the shadow beasts, both are also always an option. After the end of a glare, the whole group began to leave the cabin the yellow-haired adult locking up the house behind them, they began to walk down the path that Zet came down from. So he had a choice follow and see where the group went to, or explore the area.
Well the group most likely was going to head to a point of civilization, doubt only four people lived on this island. Moving slowly he began to follow the group staying far enough away that he had the chance to disengage. Yet also close enough to continue to read their lips. He followed them for around an hour, starting to see the outer walls of what seemed to be a large town. He heard a ring and saw the yellow father grab what looked to be a phone and bring it to his ear. A few words were said a confused look on his face as he looked at the drunk. The yellow father seemed to say something to the drunk, the drunk shook his head and shrugged. Then both looked at the children and then down the road.
He had seen enough for now they got to the settlement and now it was time to check out the surroundings. As he began to move his foot to turn he could feel something he hadn't felt in ages, something he was certain he got rid of. The threads of fate rung as his foot crushed a twig loudly. Zet froze not moving an inch his eyes locked onto the group, the drunk had brought out his multi-weapon sword, and the yellow father seemed to raise his fist to fight.
The children were moved behind the pair as the adults began to look around. Said children were also looking around the yellow-haired child staying close to the black haired child as she did so. Zet's mind ran through how the threads touched him, he burned all of his threads and cut down its weavers. The fates should not be able to affect him, yet somehow someway the fates caused him to slip.
He began to slowly back away double checking every foot and movement of his hands to not cause any more noise. When he looked towards the group he locked eyes with someone, the yellow-haired child was looking at him. Not at the area, he was in but at him, lilac eyes stared at his red eyes. Time seemed to stop, would the child say something? Point him out so her guardians could attack? Yet as time ticked on she looked away from him and pointed towards some bushes away from them and said something. The guardians seemed to relax their fighting stances moving into normal ones. The drunk seemed to ruffle the kid's hair which said kid seemed to take some offense to, saying something that caused the drunk to chuckle. The group began to walk away out of the forest and towards the settlement. Yet before they left, the yellow-haired child looked back locking eyes with him once again smiling and giving a hidden wave before turning ahead and walking alongside her family.
Huh the kid was returning the favor. Well never look a gift horse in the mouth, Zet looked at the settlement walls that were before him. It was a fairly sturdy stone wall that encircled the town, from the looks of things they chopped down any of the trees that were near the walls to have a clear point of view of anything approaching. Smart, though they did lack other defenses like trenches or abatis to stop charges. But a basic wall like that would defend the town from dumber foes and the shadow beasts. But it wouldn't stop him, following the forest edge Zet waited for the right area to infiltrate the town, and when he saw two guards talking to each other, leaving a clear gap in their line of sight. He took the chance.
Running silently Zet ran to the wall and reinforced his legs with extra essence to launch himself over the wall and into a stack of hay that was on the other side. Popping his head slightly out of the hay he looked around, when he was turning to his right he came face to face with a horse that was startled by his approach. Raising a hand up, Zet formed an apple he had absorbed yesterday and gave it to the horse. Said horse neighed and kindly began to eat the apple and walked away.
Well Zet was in the town now, it was time to explore, map things out, and spend time trying to translate whatever the hells the people here were speaking.
Tai was having a rough past couple of days, first was his daughter going out and nearly getting killed by some Grim. That day, he was a very angry father calling up every huntsmen or guard on the island to find where his daughters were. He called in favors from his time as captain of the guard and when favors didn't work told whoever was on the other line where he would shove his fist up if they dared not look for his kids. A few bridges might have been burned that day but he couldn't lose anyone. Not after Summer, not after she was gone and he promised her grave that he would look after Yang and Ruby.
Next was having to come up with a story to tell Yang about her mother her skirted the line telling her that her mother left her to join up with a bandit tribe to pillage people. He told Yang after she was born her mother gave them a choice. A choice Tai could not take, so one night she just left without a message or note about where she went. Course the little dragon only asked more questions and seemed a bit broken up about her mother leaving them for something else. But Tai promised to tell her more about her mother and where she went.
Of course, Tai knew where she most likely went back to her gang of bandits her family. Brothers only know what she's doing leading that gang. Why she chose to go back to them leaving them all behind was a mystery that neither Tai nor Qrow could figure out, they were safe on Patch and had Ozpin protecting them. They were safe, well they were then. Now with summer gone he did begin to question if they were safe here.
He couldn't think of those thoughts now, now he had to bring his kids to preschool so he can begin teaching at Signal Academy, and let Qrow go out for his hunt for that Grim. It was a nice little hike to the walls of Signal, but he got a scroll call as they approached the wall.
Looking at the caller ID it was Goose the guard that took over the captain position for Signal after he retired. Answering the call Goose was the first to speak. "Hey boss how you doing?" Tai let out a chuckle before answering back. "I'm doing well Goose, but you don't got to keep calling me boss." Tai heard a soft chuckle on the other line before Goose spoke up. "Well, you'll always be the boss of the guards boss. But let me cut to the chase, the boys here know about what went down with your kids. Hell when you called us I sent out the best to try and find them. But damn boss remind me to never piss you off. I think you cleared out every grim spot that's even near Signal. Brothers be the Grim must have been running scared as you were beating them down."
Now he was confused. "What do you mean Goose? " Tai sure as hell didn't go out and do that, who could? Goose was quick to respond. "You know all the areas that Grim usually group up at? We went there and the places were torn up, looked like a huntsman went through and cleaned them up. Other patrols are also reporting the same thing, whole packs of Grim whipped out." Now confusion could be heard on the other side. "You. You did do that right boss? Maybe Qrow did?" Tai looked at Qrow, his look at him was responded to it with a shrug and a shake of his head.
"Didn't do any hunting, heck I didn't even get to look for that other grim yet." Tai and Qrow looked at the kids then down the road. Apparently, a similar thought coming into their head. Tai was the first to speak it. "You don't think." Then they heard it a loud cracking of a twig, Tai quickly hung up on the scroll getting into a fighting stance. Qrow brought Harbinger out and moved the kids behind them. The two of them began to look around, their minds following the same thought. Something might have been following them. Was it that Grim, what was out there looking at them?
They were quickly proven fools as his little dragon pointed at some bushes. "I think I saw a deer walking over there Dad. Think that's what caused the noise." The two relaxed started to relax looking at the bushes and not seeing any red eyes. When nothing came out to jump at them Qrow ruffled Yang's hair. Yang puffed up her cheeks and looked at Qrow. "Don't ruffle my hair, you know how long it took for it to get ready today!" Qrow simply chuckled as the two walked into the clear area between the forest and Signal. Yang seemed to lag behind a bit before coming back to their side.
Tai was just a bit stressed, jumping at shadows. After today he would relax a bit, but still keep an eye on Yang and Ruby, a closer one on his little firecracker though. He looked back at the forest one more time, he squinted his eyes as he swore he saw something move in the underbrush. Yet a simple shake of his head discouraged that thought. The town had its walls, and was manned by guards personally trained by him. No Grim would make it into this town without being spotted shot and in the worst case an alarm rung. He had nothing to worry about within these walls.
There are many ways of infiltrating an area you're not supposed to be in. Many of course think of the cloak and dagger sticking to the shadows and hiding your face. Well most of the time its more acting like you belong where you are, mimicking the people around you, and starting some casual conversations with people. Order a nice drink relax a bit, take in the sights and soon enough you'll learn whose banging who, where the guards are stationed and be out of the area with a few people thinking your a new friend.
Of course all that is thrown out the window when you are a multi-meter-tall shadow creature with bones, twigs, and other assorted shrubbery poking out around your body. So in that case you really must default to the cloak and dagger infiltration. Now to any outside observer, one must think it would be highly difficult to try and hide and move around with said body.
Well yes, yes it is fairly difficult to hide said body as Zet thought clinging to the upper part of a tree using his camouflage to try and blend in with said tree. He really should have planned this out, but no he wanted to jump in and see a town, see the mortals of this place carrying about their daily lives. If his brother was with him right now he would either be laughing his ass off at the high and mighty God-Slayer hiding in a tree like a caught spy, or lambasting him for his stupid mistake. Knowing him it would most likely be both.
Well at least from this position he could see what the humans here looked like, and by the creator whoever made these humans sure liked their color palette. Every single head of hair, or eye color was different. Bright reds, dark blues, purples, whites, greens, hell he swore he saw someone with somewhat natural-looking rainbow-colored hair. Whoever spawned these humans sure at least tried to cover up their lack of originality by boosting the amount of natural colors said humans could have. Hells that person over there had pink hair underneath their dog ears!
Wait, hold up. Zet snapped his head looking at the pink-haired dog-eared person. He saw them twitch and react to the noises around it, from this distance he couldn't see any surgical scars or any signs of foreign mutation. Now that he looked around more he started to notice something. Beastkin, there were bloody beastkin here.
Bloody hells when was the last time he saw those, maybe a few realms had the buggers. The majority of the time beastkin were either past tense or damn near extinct from the humans of the realms they were in, or just non-exsistent. But here they were talking to the humans like it was an average day. Good for them a realm were it looks like they might be sent into the dustbin of history. Zet would truly clap for said accomplishment if it didn't mean giving away his position.
Well now that, that little distraction was over with zet looked around and tried to plan his way around the city. Yes, he had gotten himself in a bit of a pickle and could move as quick as he could out of the town. But doing so would scare the hells out of the people here and most likely have the guard increase so that wouldn't work. So he stuck to the plan of investigation and exploration.
Waiting for a gap in the crowds of people below him and waiting for their eyes to be looking elsewhere Zet leaped to another tree sticking to it and listening for anyone screaming or a change to the natural noises of the populace. Hearing none he began to move around the town as quietly as he could, jumping from trees to houses, to one case that nearly had him shitting bricks acting as an improvised art installation by some Daoist-looking old man. He swears said old man looked at him and blinked, but it could have been his imagination as he was praying to the creator to make that stupid move work.
One thing he observed while moving around the town was how peaceful everyone was here. Kids played in the streets, couples were holding hands in the street. People were really acting like outside the gate wasn't a bunch of shadow-beasts ready to kill anyone who left the walls. Maybe said shadow-beasts were such a non-threat that the people here really didn't care about them? However some things didn't make the assumption correct, the first one being how many of those shadow-beasts he had killed and absorbed. He must have killed a few hundred of those things before Hypnos welcomed him to his realm of sleep. Second was if they weren't afraid of those shadow-beasts why would the walls be so fortified and well guarded?
So that did bring up some things. But one that he came to understand, something that would make people so relaxed like this with beasts at your gate. Was time, even with his war against the gods taking realm after realm. The war went on for so long that when his forces marched onto the fields of Elysium the citizens within the walls of the Seals and the city were surprised by it. Simply because the war had gone on for so long that the war became a normal day, so Zet supposed that the shadow-beasts were not a new thing but something that had been around for so long that they perhaps have just gotten accustomed to them like one would to the weather or the color of the sky.
It was a bad precedent to have with violent creatures, but he was not their ruler to dictate what they could and couldn't force into extinction. His mind was absent-minded as day turned to night watching the people of the town, trying to decipher their language and text, yet still coming up with nothing. Damnable Mutt tongues, why do you have to be so hard to manually translate! Letting out a sigh he let his anger wash over him, and away. He had spent enough time in town, it was time to return back to his base camp. Heading to where he got in and again seeing the two guards talking, he used the night to more easily pass over the wall and into the forest where he started to make his way back to camp.
As he made it back to camp he did start to feel tired from the day, but not hungry or thirsty. Which could be his body just naturally using the energy from all the beasts he had absorbed to continue operating. Or whatever the Shadow-beasts were didn't require water or food to operate. Even with his old body he really didn't need to eat or drink at a certain point godly energy pretty much makes it so you always are running on a full tank and not having to worry about the little things. But there was the tradition and natural born want to drink water after doing work, and eating a fine meal after a hard day. Which he had three days to catch up on all that, so he quickly started to make his camp a bit more homey.
It was night and by the sounds of the forest there was no one around to really react to his noises. So seeing that he was secure he began to work. Forming his arm into a sharp bone blade, he began to hack away at a tree cutting it down within a few swings. The sound of the tree falling alerted and scared a lot of the birds and animals leaving only a few curious birds around. De-branching the tree to preserve some kindling and fire wood Zet began to make some more homey additions to his little camp. A basic log bench followed, by a log slap for a table. Abosrobing some more wood and morphing it into some cutlery. Using some bones to form plates and bowls and after a few more things he had made a few more additions to his little camp.
It wasn't exactly a home yet, but he wasn't going to be eating and sleeping like an animal. It would take a few more days of work to make it so he wasn't truly living in a cave with a fur sleeping roll. But he had nothing but time to truly get everything done, so walking into the forest he began to stalk for his meal for the night. Making sure to of course grab whatever looked close to herbs and spices along the way.
A nice little boar was what he first found which was an easy kill a quick swift strike to cut its throat led it to bleed out quite quickly, followed by stringing it up and preparing it for some actual food. While cooking up the body he tried his best to attempt what would be a fair meal to eat with what little things he had. At the end he did end up with a few pork strips, a pork chop, and some nice ham to go with it. Not the most elegant meal to end the day on, but he wasn't complaining. Clapping his hands together he grabbed one of his wooden forks and took his first bite. And he tasted nothing, giving a curious glare at the food he wondered, he should have tasted something, I mean even if it was a bad meal he should have tasted something. Then it struck him, his form was made from those shadow-beasts even his tongue was made from their essence. Those things didn't have taste buds. Some questions were beginning to pop up, but he didn't care at this moment, for now, he grabbed the boar's head and absorbed it into his body allowing him to use some of its flesh to build himself an actual tongue.
Giving it a good test run in his mouth he could taste the nothingness that was the shadow-beast essence and the bone of his teeth. Well, he could taste now which was good, thus he again began to dig into his meal. It did taste strange having a boar's tongue and all, but until he got his original tongue back or enough animal parts to craft a close version to a human tongue. He would have to make do with this, and the interesting tastebuds that came with it.
While Zet was digging into his meal, a lot of the forest came back to its natural places, and animals once again returned to Zet's little grotto, eating scarps that he would throw them, or the grass that grew around his camp. But a little crow, one that Zet had yet to see was watching everything with rapt attention staring as it saw him eat pork seemingly enjoying it, and drinking water from a bone bowl. It stared and once again Zet had made it wonder how much it had drank that day, or if after everything it had seen it had finally lost it.
After helping Tai bring the kids to Signal for their preschool classes Qrow went out in search for the Grim that they had seen and to the places Goose had told them where Grim were slain. Each area of battle he went to he left more and more confused. There was no empty Dust shells on the ground, no blade marks or footprints. All he saw in those areas were paw prints and claw marks. A creature had started and finished those battles, something smart. In a few areas, it looked like whatever attacked the Grim caught them in surprise leaving only a few claw marks on the ground or on the trees. In others, it looked like a full-on brawl happened trees knocked, broken in half, or cut through with claws.
Crouching in one of the fields of battel Qrow let out a sigh as he rubbed some exhaustion off his face. He had been out here for hours now day starting to turn to night and one theory that had been at the back of his mind was rudely making its way to the forefront. After the day he had rescued Yang and Ruby, they had asked what they were doing and what had happened. Ruby was only able to say so much, being a scared little kid getting her first big disappointed parents' talk. Yang on the other hand was more clear, telling him and Tai why she was out there and what happened. And when she told them that the Grim that he saw had killed beowolf well he didn't belive her, and neither did Tai.
Some Grim would fight each other over a crippled person, but as far as he knew Grim didn't kill Grim. So he took what Yang said with a grain of salt and maybe she saw the two Grim fight and thought one killed the other. Yet now looking at the paw prints that didn't match up with any Grim on the island, and one that was found in all the other little areas of battle. He was starting to believe in the little tike. Which of course only brought up more questions. Shaking his head again, he grabbed his flask taking in some of that sweet, sweet cool whiskey to parch his thirst. Setting it down on his belt he turned to begin his search for the Grim when his ears caught the sound of a tree falling.
Quickly turning to the noise he waited and listened. In the far distance, there sounded like someone was chopping and craving wood. No one was setting up a cabin this far out, and he didn't see any builders leave town, nor would anyone be building this late at night. Running towards the sound and quickly morphing into his crow form he flew to the noise, perched on a branch and looked around. It looked like someone was setting up camp at a cave, some basic stuff for a camp. A carved-up log for an improvised bench. A clean-cut log to use as a table, and even some finely crafted wooden cutlery. Looking to his right he saw the cut-up and craved tree that must have caused the noise he heard. All the things set around the camp, whoever was here must be quick with their hands if they were able to set all this stuff up by the time he heard the tree crash and fly here.
Qrow decided to stay for a few more moments stay here and see whoever had made this their camp. Ask a few questions about if they saw the Grim and send them back to Signal. A few minutes passed and as Qrow was about to fly back to Tai's cabin he saw movement through the trees and out from it came his hunt. The tall Grim with the horned mask came out of the trees, over its shoulder was a boar with its throat cut. Qrow was stunned for a moment, Grim didn't hunt animals they only attacked them if it came down to a fight for territory. But this Grim, this Grim had a boar over its shoulder like it had just came back from a long day of hunting.
So Qrow watched and his questions only rose, from teh Grim preparing the boar, to it starting a fire, to it cooking said boar, to it using cutlery and wood and bone plates and bones, to many other things that made Qrow second guess his own sanity. What stopped his quick questioning of his own mental state was when the Grim began to eat and show emotion. He saw as it had a confused look on its face as it ate some pork, as it questioningly took another and shook its head. He saw it walk over to the discarded board head it had chopped off and begin to absorb the flesh and bone of the boar's head into its own body.
Qrow could not think, could not even hear his own heartbeat. The Grim had used a semblance or magic, no, no grim couldn't use either of those. They didn't have a soul, didn't have Aura, didn't. Have… Emotions. But this Grim did, this Grim that was now happily eating the boar it had hunted, the boar it had prepared, then cooked over the fire it had made. This Grim, this Grim was. This Grim that was sitting only a fair distance away from him was intelligent he would damn near use the word sentient. He knew that if he told Tai this he wouldn't believe him, he needed proof hard concrete proof of what he was seeing. Flying down to the underbrush he turned back into his normal human self and took out his scroll to record.
He recorded the Grim eating the food, took footage of the camp it had made, he made sure to catch the Grim walking to a nearby stream to watch its cutlery and plates. He made sure to record everything the Grim was doing, so if anyone said he lost his mind he could shove this video in their face and prove them wrong. He captured Savior knows how many minutes of the Grim going about its business before he knew he had captured enough. Putting the scroll away Qrow began to walk away, he would need to show the footage to Tai, and to Ozpin. Cause something was wrong with this Grim, something deeply deeply wrong. Yet it seemed like fate liked to play its little game with his semblance as he walked back away from the Grim, a twig decided to be a little shit and break underneath his foot.
He saw the Grim snap up to its full attention its eyes scanning the area. Qrow was prepared to run away before he heard a voice, a deep dark voice that whispered into his ears. A voice that could come from only one source. " Hena na ɔwɔ hɔ!" Qrow froze his eyes darted to the Grim seeing it look around before he saw its throat move air moving up it and escaping to form another noise. "Emfanísou!" Qrow didn't care about noise anymore he had seen enough freaky fucking shit for today. A Grim fucking talking was the end of it. Picking up his feet he ran hard using his aura to boost his speed before jumping into the air, turning into a bird, and flying faster than he ever thought possible away from the Grim.
Qrow arrived at Tai's house faster than he thought possible, turning back into his human self he tripped on his way to the door slamming his fist on the door. It took a few more slams before Tai opened the door and saw Qrow's terrified face, he could see the kids in the back but he didn't care about language he needed someone to hear him say this. "The Grim fucking talked Tai. The Grim that saved the kids fucking spoke!"
And cliffhanger for the next part. I will admit this chapter was a bit harder to write, the Qrow and Tai parts were a bit easier to write in because well its easy to write about the human element of things and them having a set character that they have. Zet on the other hand has proven to be more difficult to write, mostly because he is a multi-meter tall monster-looking mofo that would terrify the daylights out of anyone who saw him. So getting those parts down was a bit harder to do.
I will admit I do feel like I'm moving things along a bit too quickly, as I do want volume 0 to end with Ruby and Yang heading off for Beacon. But the call for action and getting Zet to actually begin to speak and understand the people around him is begging me to get the train going full steam ahead. So I'll let my future self-deal with these chapters pretty much lifting off as we are only a few chapters into the first volume.
And i might get some questions about Qrow reacting to the whole Zet speaking thing. But to those more stubborn people that would be asking that. Imagine if one day you go out your front door and see a dear walking on two legs down the road, taking out a sandwich and eating it with its hooves, then after eating its sandwich waving its hooves at you and speaking in a language you didn't understand. Even if you are a hardened hunter pretty sure if you saw that, you would be questioning your sanity and then running away.
Oh as for the languages used in the Qrow POV part, the first one is in Akan which translates to "Who is there." The next is in Greek which translates to "Show yourself."
Like I've said many times before and until I trust myself in making good content. Reviews are well asked for and appreciated.
