Chapter 61: Monster

Evil Geeta grinned and crossed her arms, looking at her good self glaring furiously with a deadly dark-type aura radiating about her body.

Good Geeta unsheathed her katana and held it like a barbarian would with a stick. Not an ounce of discipline carried her movements as she dashed forward- Only rage and instinct. And because of this rage- she began to bellow a roar as she raised her sword and swung it over her head.

Evil Geeta leapt out of the way before the blade swung at her could touch her. The attack her good self delivered slashed apart the ground she stood on and spread across the land. As rocks and debris flew around the Evil Geeta who was still in the air, she smirked.

"Starting the fight with the move Guillotine?" Evil Geeta said. "You must really want me dead…"

A shadowy figure teleported behind Evil Geeta, who spun around and saw her good counterpart behind her, swinging her blade down.

Evil Geeta dodged the first slice, then started dodging every other attack coming her way until they both landed on solid ground.

Evil Geeta dodged two thrusts from her opponent, then smacked her good self with the back of her hand. Reeling back from the blow and stumbling, Good Geeta glared and began to radiate with more Dark-type energy.

"Go on then," The Sinister Geeta said. "Do it."

The berserk Geeta glared and bared her teeth, holding her katana with two hands. "KOWTOW..! KLEAVE..!"

Good Geeta ran toward her counterpart and swung her blade- moving right past her in one fluid motion. Evil Geeta stood still, seemingly unharmed by the attack as her good self slowly sheathed her weapon.

What happened next happened within a fraction of a second.

As soon as Good Geeta sheathed her blade, Evil Geeta closed her eyes. Purple lines of light that were as thin as needles appeared around her. These beams of light were the oncoming faster-than-light slash attacks from Good Geeta. One after another, they shot after Evil Geeta like arrows. Evil Geeta ducked under the first one, sidestepped the second one, tilted her head to the side to dodge the third one, then backflipped to dodge the last one.

After she backflipped, the sound of blades clashing rang in the air- and a gust of wind blasted between both Geetas.

Good Geeta spun around, widening her eyes in shock. "What?!" Good Geeta cried.

Evil Geeta smirked. "Did you really think you could hit me with my own attack?"

Good Geeta's eyes flared with even more rage than before. The sinister, mocking laughter that came from her evil self made her even angrier.

"Look at you…baring your teeth," Evil Geeta said. "Looking at me like some sort of monster… unfortunately for you…. I'm about to show you what a real monster looks like."

Evil Geeta smiled and exhaled, letting out a visible, white-mist like breath of air as though she were in the cold. Her blue and red eyes began to shine. Then, she grit her teeth as veins began to appear around her forehead.

Rocks began to rise about the evil woman as blue and red electricity began to course violently about her body.

The dark type energy brought to her by rage began to disappear from Good Geeta's body as her eyes reverted to normal- revealing the shock and awe coming from them as she took a step back.

"What's…What's happening..!?" Nemona cried.

That's when evil Geeta began to scream at the top of her lungs. It wasn't a roar coming from someone who gained a surge of energy- no, it was a pained scream.

Whatever was happening to her... it wasn't natural.

Suddenly appearing in Evil Geeta's hand with a flash of light was a long, futuristic looking halberd, sparking with yellow and blue electricity. The coiled metal on its long handle was reminiscent of the Pokémon Miraidon's skin patterns.

A red and blue aura radiated out from Evil Geeta's body, and suddenly… A single, prehistoric looking wing with scaly skin and white feathers appeared behind the woman. The feathers looked like the feathers on top of Miraidon's head. A second, futuristic looking wing erupted from Evil Geeta's back, looking a lot like the neck of Miraidon, coiled and glowing with electric type power.

Evil Geeta turned to look at Nemona. "See? Just like…an angel." She said. "La angel rojo. Like the nickname my Nemona gave me."

Nemona had no idea what to say.

"How-..." Good Geeta's entire body was trembling at the sight of her other self, who was glowing. "You don't even have an invoker on…! How..!? Why!?"

"You're really asking me this? Here I thought you and I were the same person." Evil Geeta smirked. "This is the power I was talking about earlier. The one I took from that boy who killed Kai. This is the power of the Paradox Drive… the one that was surgically implanted into my body…Of course… the longer I maintain this form…my urge to wreak havoc rises."

"You took that power... Knowing full well what it'd do to you?" Good Geeta cried.

Evil Geeta dashed toward her good self with incredible speed. Good Geeta had no time to dodge the fist coming for her stomach. A sonic boom exploded from behind the former champion's back- spit flew out of her open jaw as every muscle in her body began to spasm.

"Of course I would," Evil Geeta said as she pulled her fist. Good Geeta clutched her stomach, feeling the weight of her invoker increasing because the pokemon she tera-fused with had fainted. Just as Good geeta was about to fall to her knees, the Geeta from the Scarlet timeline grabbed her counterpart by the neck and lifted her entire body up effortlessly. "How do you feel? Angry? Scared? Afraid? Of what happened to me? Of what you can still become?"

"PLEASE!" Nemona roared. Evil Geeta turned her head to the girl who had remained on her hands and knees. "I know there's still good in you somewhere! This isn't you! You're- you're..!"

"Save your breath. Anything and everything you're planning to say will fall on deaf ears."

Good Geeta began to scream in agony.

"If you're going to stop me, stand up and fight. Oh wait-.." Evil Geeta turned her head to Nemona. "You're paralyzed by despair. Because even now you can't even fathom that I could become this way. Remember. This is all because of you. All. Because. Of you."

"Stop..!" Geeta cried. "Stop…saying…that! That's- not… true..!"

"Oh?"

"It's not Nemona's fault.. It's mine that I... that you... turned out the way you did! I'm-...the one...who was overreacting..! Nemona did nothing wrong...! She's just a strong trainer...! If I had lost as horribly as I did to anyone else-...anyone else..! I would have ended up the same way- the only difference would be who I aimed my rage toward..!"

"What?" As Evil Geeta tightened her grip, her good self's screams became louder. "How dare you talk as though your rage- our rage- means nothing? Do you think you're better than me just because you think you moved past your hate? I'll tell you what: I'll let you go if you admit it. Tell the truth, right now, or you die. I'm loosening my grip. Talk."

Good Geeta gasped for air. "The truth...? Okay...! The truth is... I admire Nemona..! I think she's... one of the most talented, most powerful trainers... in the world! If anything...she should keep the title as Champion...And you..? You're just a sore loser, who let the world burn because of her prid-!"

Evil Geeta began choking her even more.

"WRONG answer!" Evil Geeta cried. "How dare you. How dare you!? I should bury you for what you just said...!"

Good Geeta cried out in agony as her evil self's face twisted in rage.

"Donophan! Rollout, now!"

Rika's voice caused Nemona and both Geetas to turn their heads as Donophan's spinning body slammed onto Evil Geeta's side and sent her sliding across the grassy floor. Good Geeta fell to the ground and started coughing as Rika herself ran over to her downed companion.

"Are you all right?" Rika asked, crouching down to her boss.

"Don't worry about me…" Good Geeta said. "We've got bigger problems to worry about."

Donophan stood between the two humans and the enemy, glaring furiously.

Evil Geeta remained on the ground, staring at the sky.

"Calm down," Evil Geeta muttered to herself. "Don't let the increase in ferocity because of the Paradox Drive take control of you. Stick to the plan," She took in a deep long calming breath, and exhaled. And then when with a single stroke of her wings, she floated back to her feet.

"Why don't you just get lost, already?!" Rika cried.

Evil Geeta stared at Rika. She didn't say a word, she only looked at her with conflict in her eyes. She then frowned and turned around.

"All right then," Evil Geeta said. "But before I go… You. Goodie two shoes." Evil Geeta turned her head back, staring directly at her counterpart. "I know you have questions. If you want answers, then find me. And before you ask me, 'where', you know where."

Evil Geeta unfurled her wings, and then took flight, flying far, far away.

"She's… she's just leaving..?" Rika said. "What did she mean when she said that you knew where to find her?"

Geeta said nothing. She just lowered her head, and a shadow loomed to cover her eyes. She pressed a button on her wrist, and the invoker armor on her body disappeared with a flash of light. The unconscious Pokémon she fused with, Kingambit, laid on the ground unconscious beside her. After returning her fainted Pokémon to its ball, Geeta stood up and started limping away from Rika, placing one hand on her seemingly limp arm.

"Wait-" Rika said.

Geeta wordlessly kept walking...straight toward Nemona, who was on her knees, crying with both hands on her face.

Geeta fell to her knees right in front of the girl and hugged her.

"I'm sorry..." Geeta said. "For not telling you… how much I struggled. I didn't want to overwhelm you with guilt. You did nothing wrong. It was my fault for reacting the way that I did." Geeta said. "I truly admire you as a trainer. I didn't want to face the fact that you were better than me…. So I…" Geeta held back her own tears as Nemona kept sobbing. "I have no excuse for the way that I acted when you defeated me. That wasn't the way a Champion should act." Geeta began to choke from her sobs. "I'm-.." Her voice became higher pitched. "I'm not even sure if I can even forgive myself… for making you feel this way. It's my fault... not yours. I'm so sorry..."

Nemona wrapped her arms around Geeta and continued to cry, and Geeta started crying too.

Rika watched with one hand in her pocket and raised a finger to wipe away a single tear that rolled down her eye. She had come to tell Geeta about something, but it wasn't urgent. She could just let the two of them have their moment.

Turo and Sada watched Rika, Nemona and Geeta from a monitor in their secret laboratory.

"Just in time," Turo said. Sada nodded.

"Switch the monitor to Kai and Aeon," Sada said. "We must see how their battle ends before we say that this part of our plan was a success."
