Looking a bit unsure about this idea, Octavia was walking with Lincoln down to his own best friends' house. Was this a good idea? Would the McBrides help out Octavia and make her their guest in the house? Or would they turn her down and make her even more sad and depressed? There was only one way to find out for sure. "Are you ok, Octavia?"
"Mostly." said the disguised Goetia princess. "Are you sure about this, Lincoln?"
"Trust me, the McBrides are the best kind of people you would ever want to meet. They have many things my parents can't afford: massage chairs, flat-screen TVs, you name it." He rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer. "And you'll like Clyde. He's the greatest friend any guy can ever ask for. And you'll never have to worry about living under a bridge or a dumpster. These guys will give you the greatest kind of hospitality... even if they are not royal or rich like your parents."
"Oh dear." Octavia rolled her eyes in sarcasm. "No big allowances or buying a herd of ponies for myself. That's a big blow to my face." She then looked at Lincoln. "I never really care about the posh lifestyle that my mother loves to have in her life. I want to be able to live a normal life like my dad would do for me."
"Sorry. I was just making a point."
"No, don't be. I understand you were just trying to be nice. And, thank you for helping me out on this. No one has ever tried to do this for me before."
"What are friends for? And i'm totally not one of those false friends that will try to pickpocket you or just hang out because your parents are famous."
Octavia made a cute laugh before saying: "I know."
The one to answer the front door was Harold, looking happy to see Lincoln as ever. "Oh, hello again, Lincoln. What brings you here?"
"Mr. McBride, this is Octavia, one of Loona's friends from Hazeltucky."
"A pleasure." Harold reached out to shake hands with the disguised demon, but Octavia had her arms crossed and refrained.
"Sorry, but I'm not the touching or display of affection type."
"Oh, I understand."
"So look, I wanna talk to you guys about her."
"Sure, come on in." Said Harold. Lincoln and Octavia did just that, and Clyde greeted his best friend again.
"Hey buddy." He looked at Octavia as well.
"Hey Clyde." Lincoln said. "I wanna talk to you guys."
"Sure, what is it?" Asked Howard.
"Look, we'll talk on the couch." Lincoln clasped his hands together. The three McBride family members sat on the sofa to hear what Lincoln had to say.
The white-haired child began telling them about Octavia (minus the demon part of course). Everyone was sympathetic towards her as much as Lincoln's family was to her. Clyde especially took great pity on Octavia, and wanted to help her out.
Octavia just felt like crying hearing how she was going through a tough time dealing with her parents' divorce.
"We're very sorry that you feel this way, sweetie." Said Harold
"Yeah, I know it must be rough."
"Thank you kindly. So, Lincoln told me you have a guest room in here. I just can't take it any more and my home doesn't been feel like home anymore. Is it too much to ask if I kindly ask you all to let me stay here? Or if not, I'm fine sleeping in a dumpster."
"Stop saying that." Said Lincoln. "There is up way that you'll sleep in a dumpster."
"Yeah, dumpsters can have raccoons in them, and they can have rabies." Said Clyde before looking at his dads. "Guy, please, can we help she out? She just needs some confidence boosted in her."
Both Harold and Howard were silent for a moment, but then to possibly say no to her. They looked at Octavia as they were about to say something to her, but then looked at her puppy eyes, looking like she was about to cry or bawl in misery as depression.
"Dads, we might like Loona." Said Clyde. "She can enjoy the massage chair.
"Alright alright." Said Howard "I guess a fourth person living in this house wouldn't kill anyone.
"Got that right, honey." Said Harold. "It would not."
Octavia smiled with hope and said: "thank you all so much for doing this for me." Said Octavia. The cats sniffed at Octavia's legs but didn't go angry at her like when they first met Loona. In fact, they seem to be slowly warming up to the disguised demon, and they were purring as they were brushing themselves against her feet.
"Looks like Cleopawtra and Nepurrtiti like you." said Clyde
Octavia made a laugh and said: "Cats named after Egyptian queens, i like that."
Lincoln smiled and he knew that he helped out his new demon friend although, he wondered what Stolas would think if he helped his own daughter get away from the whole divorce thing. Maybe he would probably kill him in the most cruel way? Nah he was a gentle giant kind of demon and he also liked Lincoln a good deal. "So Octavia," Lincoln said to her. "If there's any problem, let me know."
"I will."
"And you can talk to me, too." said Clyde.
"Yes, i know. Even though you look a little bit like a dork." she let out a smirk.
"Hey, i'm not a dork." Clyde said
"I'm just joking with you, sweetie." Octavia gently ruffed his black hair.
"So are you hungry?" asked Harold.
"I make the best kind of cuisine like croque-monsieurs or crepe suzettes." said Clyde
"Hmm, i didn't know you were a chef." said Octavia.
"Still a working progress." said Clyde admittedly. "But i make good dishes."
"You can surprise me." said Octavia. "And if my dad finds me here, i'll take full responsibility."
"Good." said Lincoln. He left the house and hoped Octavia will like it in Clyde's place. After all, how can anyone not like his own best friend? only a handful of people but that is a small minority. He looked around at the area and wondered what he can do now as he walked down the street.
"Lincoln?" called a voice. it was Loona in her human disguise, running up to him in a fast kind of speed, which looked probably faster than Usain Bolt. She stopped right in front of him with the sound of brakes hitting hard. "There you are."
"Hey Loona, what's up?"
"I'm... looking for Octavia." said the disguised Hellhound. "Stolas told Blitzo that she ran away from him and he's worried shitless about her. So, have you seen her?"
Young Lincoln looked to and fro in rapid glances and felt like sweating from so much pressure. He knew he was probably in trouble right now. "Uhhhh, nope! Haven't seen her. I'm terribly sorry Loona." he chuckled nervously and added: "Look, i need a flippee so bye."
"Wait!" Loona said, making Lincoln stop in his tracks, and the sweat was starting to kick in his body from all the pressure. Loona walked up to him and sniffed him. "You're lying." she said plainly.
"You can smell if I was lying?"
"Oh yeah. It's a Hellhound trait. We can easily tell if you're lying or telling the truth by our sense of smell."
"Well i'm not lying, i promise!" Lincoln blurted. Loona, however, was not buying it, and gave him a look that said: "Oh really?" with her lips stretched in a straight line and right eye lowered at him. "Ok, ok. Here's the truth." Lincoln gave up. He sighed before explaining: "Octavia ran away because she couldn't take the divorce thing anymore and she feels like a mistake. I tried to talk her out of it at first, but she wouldn't listen to me. So she's staying at my best friend's house for a while."
"You mean that dorky friend of yours?"
"Well... yes."
"Ah, ok." Loona sounded indifferent at this response.
"Wait, you don't care?"
"Not really. Now i know where she is." the female hellhound remarked. "Besides, i'm not part of her family."
"But what if Stolas finds out and kills me or hiding her?"
Making a small sigh, Loona said: "Look, don't worry, i would just stick it to the grave. And if he does hurt you, i'll help you."
Lincoln knew that Loona does care about him for she did save him the other day. He can imagine this young lady saving him and going all rabid on Stolas if the Goetia prince should ever attack him for helping Octavia hide from her own parents. "Good." he looked nervous. "I feel like I did something like hide an evil war criminal from Africa."
"No, it's ok." Loona said. "If you were hiding a war criminal, then you would get in trouble with the FBI or CIA."
"True."
"So wanna come down to hell with me?" asked Loona. "I mean, just for the heck of it?"
"Sure. I mean, i got nothing better to do." Lincoln admitted. "It's getting a little boring up here anyway."
Loona couldn't help but chuckle. "OK. Got the book so we're ready to go, we just need to go to some place where no one will witness us."
"Right."
They both eventually found a barren place to transport into hell which was out into the woods, and transported to the land of the damned. From the looks of the place, they were transported to the meeting office in the IMP headquarters. "So did you listen to that CD I gave you?"
"I did, and I love it! The guitar is so awesome."
"Agreed."
"Loona?" said Moxxie, coming into the room. "Oh, hi Lincoln." he looked at the boy. "What brings you down here?"
"Just thought i would bring Lincoln along with me hanging out here."
"What?" Moxxie said. "Are you crazy?! Other demons will eat him alive!"
"Not if Lincoln is with me they won't." Loona said. "You know how fucking fierce I am, Moxxie. Don't be such a wuss."
"Right. Well, just be careful, Lincoln." said Moxxie. "Try not to talk to other demons besides her."
"Thanks, i'll be fine."
"Loona?" a voice called out, and the female groaned, recognizing that voice all too well. I was Blitzo himself, barging in the front door. "Ah there you are, have you found her? Octavia?"
"Nope, not really." Loona flatly lied.
"Shit." Blitzo breathed. "Stolas is going to have my head on a pike if we don't find her soon."
"Well, tough tits." said Loona.
"And what's Lincoln doing here? Oh, not that i'm not happy to see him."
"Just here as a friend hanging out with me." Loona pointed
"Ah. Well be careful with other demons, kiddo. Especially with Verosika Mayday. That succubitch will turn you into a donkey and force you into labor."
"What?" Moxxie said in disbelief. "No she does-" before he can finish however, Blitzo clamped his lips shut.
"Yes she does Moxxie, i would appreciate it if you shut the fuck up right now."
"She really does that?" asked Lincoln
"Absolutely. She hates kids and she will turn them into donkeys and sell them to slaves."
Lincoln gasped in disbelief. "That's terrible."
"It is." Blitzo said. "So it's best to stay away from her at all costs. She'll probably eat you alive."
The boy gulped and didn't know what kind of supposed monster Verosika was. Loona, on the other hand, was not buying it, and can easily tell Blitzo was lying. The reason why Blitzo would lie to Lincoln about the succubus pop star like this she didn't know why. "Well come on, kiddo. I'll take you for a drink... non-alcoholic of course."
"Cool." Both of them took the elevator and Loona turned back into her hellhound disguise as the shaft was going down to the ground floor. "I didn't know that pop star would do that for a living. I wouldn't even be caught dead being with her. I mean, she must be pure evil if she turns kids into donkeys and sells them for money."
"Yeah, it's awful." Loona was just looking at her phone
The human boy was looking at many demons walking by and many of them looked terrifying and intimidating. These definitely looked like the kind of demons that he should't really talk to. "So where is a good place to get a drink?"
"I know a place. Come on." The kid followed her ten blocks down the street and there was a restaurant called Blood Burger.
"They have regular drinks here, right?"
"Yes, they have root beer, cola, and other drinks you would drink in restaurants on Earth." Loona sighed. Many demons walking by looked at Lincoln since many of them probably never seen a human before, especially a human boy with white hair. Alas, Lincoln ignored them and stood close to Loona. "So what would you like?"
"A large root beer."
"Got it." Loona was the one who made the order and got herself a medium tea. Lincoln smiled as he got his drink
"Thanks Loona."
"Don't mention it." Loona smiled. She got her drink and they both left the restaurant. "So you and Clyde have been friends since you were little kids?"
"Yep, we never knew we had so much in common before we met." Lincoln smiled. "He's one of a kind."
"I've heard that before." Loona rolled her eyes.
"So, are you sure that you don't mind if I hang out with you? I mean, you said you mostly like being alone."
"Look, Lincoln, it's ok." said Loona. "I don't mind you at all." she knelt down on one knee to have better eye contact with him. "Really. If i didn't want you around me, I would just maul you to pieces right now and eat them."
"That's not reassuring." Lincoln pointed flatly.
"Sorry. Just trying to make a point."
