When Brooklyn awoke the next night, he saw that he was in the city of Orlando on that high rise building. He saw he had the backpack near his feet. He would plan to travel a little bit before he would get the food out to eat, but he instantly wanted a drink of water. He got one out and quenched the thirst he had.
From inside him, Brooklyn also felt some movement from the twins too. "Waking up too, little guys?" he chuckled, giving his stomach a rub. He wondered how they fared with the stone turning inside him. It must just melt off of them in the liquid.
Brooklyn wished he knew what genders he was carrying. But then, he wanted to know more about pregnancy again. He went to try to find a local baby store. He knew he didn't need any baby supplies yet, but he wanted a pregnancy book. He already knew that one of the twins had a heart issue and was concerned about it. Why it had the issue, he didn't know.
He eventually found a baby store in the milder parts of the town. He broke in through the roof. It was closed for the night. With his night vision, he was able to look for the books. He found some pregnancy books. He picked one that had all the stages of pregnancy. He also looked for health conditions in it and it had some in it. He would take it. He wished he had money to trade but he didn't. He also swiped some jars of baby food too because he was having some cravings. He also couldn't help but grab a little duck and dog for the babies. But it wasn't long before he was hearing sirens coming and he knew he had to get out of here in case it was about him. He quickly got back to the roof and left the building.
At least now, Brooklyn could have something to read if he was bored while sitting out. He had the jars of baby food and book in his backpack. He had to wear it on his front. It wouldn't bother the babies at all. It was all lightweight.
But soon, Brooklyn came across another high rise building and he landed to sit down to eat. "Now we'll eat some breakfast, kids." He said. He felt some movement from the twins again. "I get it that you're likely hungry." He took the pack off and gave his swollen belly a rub.
He opened a jar of bananas first and dipped his talon into the jar and tasted it. It tasted sweet on his tongue. But then, his taste buds had changed quite a bit. "Hmm, this sure is good. No wonder I was craving it." He took to finishing it, then took out some bread, apples and oranges. He also ate some carrots and celery. He had a menagerie to choose from. He also had a jar of baby food turkey.
But he didn't want to finish the food all in one night. He had to reserve his rations. He at least wanted to eat enough to give himself and the twins some energy. He himself needed the energy to have the need to travel. But Orlando was an impressive city to want to stay in and have some fun. But Brooklyn knew that he needed to get serious and get home.
Despite how Orlando was an impressive and beautiful city to visit, Brooklyn knew he wanted to get home before Christmas. He seriously didn't know how long he had before the twins would be ready to be born. If he had been female, he would have had an egg, and it would be ready to lay soon. And Brooklyn knew that he wanted to make it home before the twins reached that point.
He promised himself and his kids that he would travel every night as much as he could and would eat before setting off for the energy needs. He would replenish his supplies as needed, but not until they were needed to be replenished. He put everything away or threw it away in a dumpster behind the building and he took to the air again to head northward. He headed east too. He wanted to know he was going to be following the seacoast too.
He flew over the many sights of Orlando and eventually found the edge of the city. Then he turned northward. After gliding for a while, he found Daytona Beach. It was so beautiful. If only it could be seen in the daytime.
Brooklyn wished he could go swimming in one of the pools, but it just wasn't worth getting spotted anytime soon. He was pretty high up in the air. There were still some crowds around on the beach too. Down south here, it wasn't quite as cold as it was in the north in November.
The red male knew that upon reaching New York that if his kids were born soon, they would be born into the cold weather of winter. Being born down here would be nice for them, but he had no way of having them without a doctor's help of surgery. He had to push himself every night to get home. He might be able to be home in a week's time if he pushed hard enough, but he didn't want to stress himself too much on top of having a fetus inside him that already had a stressed heart.
He then decided that he would take his time and not push himself too hard. He didn't want to risk harming that one baby. If it died inside him, Brooklyn knew he would feel guilty about it.
Brooklyn soon flew past Daytona Beach and out into the countryside along the coastline. It was nice to just hear the sound of the laps of the beach. Though he had longed to be on the beach with everyone else and have a good time. But being what he was, it wasn't a good idea.
He would go as far as he could for as long as he could. Eventually, Brooklyn had to land to rest his wings after gliding for over two hours, slowly. He was in a clear area. But he could see lights overhead, seeing he was soon going to enter another town or city up ahead. He had passed by Palm Coast and was almost going to go over St. Augustine.
He landed to rest his wings and get another drink of water. He found a palm tree and sat down against it. He ate two pieces of bread and an apple and a mango. He needed to keep his energy up. He also took the book out and read a little bit while having his small meal.
After finishing eating and reading a few pages, he was getting ready to take off again when he felt movement from the baby on his left. "I'm sorry, little guy, but we must press on. I'll feed ya again before sunrise on my next stop." Brook told the fetus. "Wish I knew what you two are to address you as my son or daughter." He rubbed the spot where he felt the fetus move. It might have rolled inside him. It certainly wasn't a kick.
Brooklyn had wanted kids one day, but with a mate that loved him. He never imagined he would start out becoming a father this way. It was still a little scary that this was happening to him. How Vick or Irene had gotten him pregnant mystified him. Sure, he wanted to know, but he was more concerned about just putting as much distance between them as possible.
He soon had everything packed and back on him as he began to climb the tree and took to the air again. He was glad he hadn't seemed to have a tracker on him anywhere. He would have been back in Irene or Vick's custody again in no time if he had. He didn't want to go back to their custody.
With them being scientists and them having done this to him without his knowledge, Brooklyn knew that he didn't want to spend his life being their guinea pig. He didn't want his children to be their test subjects either. It was no life at all for a young gargoyle. And who knows if they would impregnate him again?
"I know you two were rather unexpected to find out about not too long ago, but I know I promise that I won't let anyone harm you, not even my clan. But I think they will welcome you more because they want more clan members as much as I do. Our clan will get fresh blood in it with you two. And I don't care what you are, as long as you're healthy." Brooklyn talked to the fetuses.
Since he had no one else to talk to, he would find himself talking to his stomach a lot more. Sometimes he would feel some movement in there like they were replying to him.
Brooklyn soon arrived in St. Augustine next. There were definitely some more awesome sites to see in that town. "Man, what I wouldn't give to live down here!" Brook exclaimed, in awe of seeing many of the gorgeous sites down there. But then, what would it harm to just explore?
The red male knew he may never see these sites again. He kept his supplies with him, and he explored the town. It was just too beautiful not to. The bridges, the gardens, the buildings, all the great sites. The lights made them even more gorgeous.
He flew over the town for the next three hours exploring but soon had enough. He had to get out of town before morning and it was getting closer to it all the time. He was also getting closer to Jacksonville. It was even bigger.
Brooklyn managed to get back to the coastline before dawn and he flew out of town. "It sure was a tourist attraction to me tonight, kids. Too bad we can't see it in the daylight. But it sure is beautiful. For now, I've got to find a safe place for us to sleep for the day." He told them.
He soon found a clearing outside the city and landed there. He hoped he would be safe there during the daytime. But then, turning to stone on high rise buildings seemed a lot safer. Tomorrow, he would do that. He had another small meal like he promised his babies before he turned to stone.
…..
After Brooklyn's break in at the grocery store in Tampa and in Orlando, there were news reports of his sighting from having been seen on camera that he hadn't known of. It had gotten both Irene and Vick's attention.
"So, Brooklyn is traveling from town to town." Vick figured.
"He's obviously on his way up the coastline." Irene stated. Vick was back working with her.
"Are we going to let him get away from us?" Vick asked.
"No, we will go there and get him back." Irene replied. "He sure moves fast. And his moving about no doubt might end up stressing out that one baby that has a bad heart."
"Yeah, it will. We can't let him kill it." Vick agreed.
They were off to go try to find their prize.
…..
Brooklyn awoke the next night with a roar, and he was glad to see he was alone. He had more of his food first and read his book some more before he decided he was ready to move on.
He took to the air again. He soon came to Jacksonville. Now this city was VERY gorgeous at night! All the lights of different colors.
This city reminded Brooklyn of New York just a bit. The tall buildings and the bridges built over the rivers. He liked seeing some of the sites there too. There were fountains in a park. He couldn't help but want to explore this city too and have a good time. There was even a concert that he found going on and he tried to enjoy it. But loud noises made him feel some sudden movements from his belly and knew he couldn't stay there without feeling the jerking inside him.
"Alright, alright, we're going, little ones." Brooklyn declared. He left the concert and explored the city some more. He kept to the high-rise buildings to land on. It was where he felt the safest. He would come to land there on one of them to have more food and water and read some more while he rested his wings. At least the light lit up the pages so he could see the writing better.
He was at the six months of pregnancy in the book. Brooklyn was only five months pregnant. He just seriously didn't know how far along he was now.
….
He got out of Jacksonville and flew further north, soon passing out of Florida and into Georgia. Over three hours of gliding soon got him into Savannah. Another gorgeous place at night.
He saw the town was well lit up at night. He oversaw a park that had a really nice fountain in it. He also saw a nice-sized church as well. He landed on the church to rest his wings and take a break. "Oh, you guys sure are taking it out of me to glide this much and this long." Brooklyn stated.
He sat down to take his backpack off and give his swollen belly a good rubbing. He felt it growl too with hunger. Brooklyn knew that with his pregnancy that his hunger had seemed to have tripled. After all, he was eating for three. But by now, his supplies were getting low. He would have to get some more food and drinks before leaving this city.
He went to a gas station that was closed for the night and snuck inside to grab some juice drinks and water, along with some crackers, chips, cookies, and some sub sandwiches. He would have to get more fruit and veggies at a real grocery store. He tried to be as quiet as he could, but he soon heard sirens. Not again! He hurried out. He couldn't get caught.
For the most part, Brooklyn wanted to avoid humans until further notice. Aside from getting water and drinks, if it had just been himself to worry about, Brook might have considered not getting food for quite a while, until he got home, but he couldn't deny his twins food for that long. Carrying the twins made him use up a lot of energy and he was a little slower at the moment. But of course, even exploring the beautiful places he was coming across was taking a toll too. He couldn't help but want to be a tourist just from the air point of view. He knew he likely wouldn't see these places again, so he wanted to enjoy them too. To enjoy being free from his captivity.
At one point though, he stopped above a tv station where TVs were sold, and this was the first time he was seeing TVs again since before his escape. He watched to see what was on the tube and a news report came on about a certain figure in the dark. "Uh oh. Looks like I've worn out my welcome." Brooklyn declared. "Should know that so many places have hidden cameras around their facilities. But I've got to have food for you two. Might have to start limiting going into those places, kids. Just until we get home."
Brooklyn hated the idea of denying his twins food, but he had to get out of here. Humans would start to try to come after him if they saw him in the sky, and humans all over the nation knew of gargoyles other than New Yorkers. Of course, Irene had and come to his city to get him, or one of his clan members.
The red male knew it was time to move on again. He pushed onward. He was soon out of Savannah and kept going north.
