Chapter 108 – Happy New Year
The wedding ceremony was beautiful. Everyone loved Luma's wedding dress and they all loved the kids, and their outfits, especially the small ones, Zena and Lukey, who were the ones who had the wedding rings, and they laughed when Lukey saw his parents and decided to ran towards them.
After the vows and Luma and Reed were introduce as Mr. and Mrs Reed and everyone stood up and clapped to the new husband and wife.
After that, the guests all went to say congratulations to the bride and groom. Luke and Ines got closer to them, with Lukey on Ines arms, and they hugged each other.
"Welcome to the married club!" Luke said smiling at Reed and kissing Luma's on the cheeks.
"Thank you, it feels good to finally be in the club with such a gorgeous wife like mine!" Reed said kissing Luma's cheek, making Ines smile at the scene.
"Aww you two make such a cute couple. And look good together!"
"Hey kid, I thought that Leia and I were your favorite couple?" Han said approaching, shaking Reed's hand and hugged Luma.
Ines rolled her eyes and looked at the newlyweds.
"Get used to Han bad jokes, cause you are part of the inner circle!"
Reed and Luma smile. They were happy to be part of this family in a way.
"The ceremony was beautiful," Leia said hugging Luma.
"Thank you," Luma smiled at her. "Now I need to change the dress to the reception one."
"We will help," Ines said and passing Lukey to his father, the 3 woman went inside the mansion to help Luma, while the man stayed there waiting.
"So where is the honeymoon?" Han asked him.
"Well, we will spend the night here in my place, but we will leave tomorrow afternoon to Scarif! Lando offered a cool hut for us spend the next month before we return to Coruscant!"
"You will love it. Ines and I spent there 2 weeks, 2 years ago and it was very nice."
"Well the place that is intact. We need to spend a family time there," Han said looking at Luke.
"That is not a bad idea actually."
After Luma changed dresses and put her reception one, everyone had to the place where the party would be.
The day went by, with everyone having a good time and of course the bride and groom were a lot request, especially to dance many of the musics.
Right now, it was around 10pm, and around the table where the Skywalkers were, the conversation was happening between friends.
"I can't believe those two are not tired already?" Amidala said looking at her twin granddaughters who were laughing, while they were both dancing with Ezra, making everyone laughing at the scene too.
"Well, those two love parties. Besides, they are only allow to be awake late on Life Day's Eve and New Year's Eve." Luke answered his mother, looking at Ines, who was sitting next to him, holding a sleeping Lukey.
"I can't believe he is sleeping with the noise around us!" Han said, making Ines looking at her toddler in her arms, and ran his blond hair from his forehead.
"He fought for a while but it was sleep that won at the end!" she replied giggling and looked at Korkie who was looking at his plate, eating a slice of the wedding cake. "So Korkie, are you having fun?"
He looked at her, a little surprise for that question and smile a little.
"Yes. It is a very nice wedding."
"Are you enjoying Varykino?" Leia asked eating the third slice of cake.
"It is a very beautiful place."
"It is your first time here?" Ben asked him. The 6 years old, was also very curious when new people arrive and he loved to learn more about them.
"Yes it is."
"Are you going to live with us now?" Ani asked.
Ahsoka couldn't help to giggled.
"How about you stop with the questions. Poor Korkie!" she said making him smile.
"It is okay, I don't mind to answer it," and looking at the kid, he replied to him. "I don't know yet. To be honest I don't know what I will do and where to be!"
"Well, did you ever think to see your aunt Bo Katan? She is building Mandalore, your home planet with other Mandalorians," Luke told him.
"I didn't think about that. Going back, it is still a little painful, but sooner or later I need to see her."
"You are right. She would like to see you!" Ahsoka said making Korkie nodding.
The music stopped and the Ezra approached the table with the twins, who sat down laughing.
"I don't know what you give to your kids, but they have an energy that wont stop. I can't believe they are not tired or sleepy yet." Ezra said drinking a glass of water.
"Maybe the problem are not them, but you getting old!" Han replied and look at Lando. "Get notes my friend!"
"Trust me, I already know that when Jed, doesn't sleep at nights!" he said.
"I don't miss those days!" Wedge said smiling to his 3 years old daughter that was sleeping on his arms.
They all kept talking, until Ines glare at her father, who was at the edge of the table. He was quiet for the past hour and she knew why. After all, today was also a special day for her family.
Luke noticed that and look at his wife, nodding to her. With a smile, she passed their son to him, and stood up walking towards her father.
"Do you mind to share a dance with your only daughter?" she said smiling at him.
With a sad smile, Ken stood up and both walked to the center of the room.
"What is wrong with Ken?" Amidala asked. "He seems very quiet lately!"
"Well, today is a day of celebration, but also a sad day for them," Luke said.
"Why?" Ruwee asked his grandson.
"Cause today was also my mother in law birthday!" he said making everyone glare at Ken and Ines.
"That's right. I forgot about that," Leia said. "We always had a great birthday party on this day."
"How was she? I mean, I always wanted to ask Dan about his mother but I always thought it was still painful to do so!" Wedge asked.
"Well she was a very nice and very beautiful. Even if all the kids took their father's look, with the brown hair and amber eyes, Lukey is the one who actually got his grandmother strawberry blonde hair and her deep blue eyes, even Luke also has those same eye color."
"She was blonde?" Han asked his wife
"Yes. Long blonde hair and blue eyes. Very beautiful. It is easy to know why Ken feel in love with her. And she was very nice and good friend of my mother," Leia said and glare at Amidala. "My other mother."
Amidala smiled and grabbing her daughters hand she kissed it. She didn't mind when she called Breha mother. After all she was way more of her mother then she was.
In the dance floor Ken and Ines were still dancing.
"Are you okay?" she asked her father.
"I am. But I can't help to think of her, specially on this day!"
"I miss her too. Every day," Ines sighed, making Ken kissed his daughter forehead.
"But she is always around, specially when I look at your and your brother. I just wish Edmar was here, but he made his choice at the end, but no matter what, I will love him too."
"Me too," Ines said and then she saw Aurea and Noa, dancing and something came into her head. "Father, did you ever thought of start dating again?"
Ken was surprise by that question.
"Why are you asking this right now?"
"Well, because I know mother would want you to be happy again. And if you, someday think it is time to start dating again, I will support you no matter what and I'm sure Dan will too."
Ken stayed silent for a while, cause that was something he never thought.
"I know, but I don't think I would find a woman that can take your mother's place. She still is the love of my life and she gave me 3 amazing kids."
"I understand," she said and glare at Luke who was with their 4 kids, smiling and talking and laughing when the twins said something funny for sure. "If something happen to Luke, I can't imagine be with any other man. He is the only one I love forever."
"Well but you two were made for each other, that is different. Besides I'm old now."
"What?" Ines looked at her father with a frown. "What are you talking about? You are still a handsome man. Besides if Aurea and Noa found love with their age, so can you!"
"Thank you!" he said smiling when the music stopped and they head to the table.
A few minutes to hit Midnight:
It was almost Midnight and everyone was outside, waiting for the New Years firework.
Luke was holding a now awake Lukey, when everyone started to make the countdown and when they all reached zero the sky was illuminated by the many colors for the fireworks that last for 20 minutes.
When it ended, everyone went to warm of inside room and hugged each other wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
"Happy New Year Papa!" The girls said to Luke, who picked up his daughters and hugged them.
"Happy New Year to you too sweeties!"
"Let's hope this year will be better than the last one!" Reed said with Luma next to him.
"For me it is already starting very good," She said to her husband.
Leia glare at them and taking a deep breath, she decided it was time to tell the news.
"Well, one thing we know for sure. That this new year the family will grown with a new member!" she started and everyone looked at Ines, who stood there with her toddler in her arms.
"Why are you looking at me. I'm not pregnant. Not yet!"
"Well if it is not you…!" Amidala said she gasped when she looked at Leia. "Are you saying…"
"Yes, I'm pregnant!" she said making Han gasped
"What did you say? We are going to have a baby?" he asked making her nod.
With that revelation, Han started to laughed and pulled Leia into his arms.
"I'm going to be a father! Again!" he said and everyone hugged them, congratulated them for the good news.
"I'm going to be a big sister again? I'm so happy!" Iris said hugging her parents. "Did you hear that boys. We are going to have a baby sister or brother!"
"I want a sister!" Ani said right away.
"Me too," Bail also said.
"I'm with the boys. I hope it is a girl. I would love to have a little sister cause I'm tired of being the only girl!" Iris said with a smile.
"I would like that. To have another daughter," Han said pulling Iris towards him. "Cause you would always be our first one."
Iris smiled at him.
"I know father. I love you, both of you forever!"
Leia smiled and pulled her into her arms. Everyone knew why and they smiled at the scene.
"Okay, enough tears this is a happy news and let's celebrate more!" Gracy said and everyone still enjoyed the party for the next hour, before the small kids started to show how sleepy they were starting to be.
Leia finally revealed the big news. And what did you think of the conversation between Ines and her father?
