Kazuto sensei was at the front of the class as he introduced a little girl that was standing next to him.

"Everyone, we have a new transfer student that will be joining us starting from today." He said as she was awkwardly looking around our classroom.

Minato and I were just staring at the girl as I am sure everyone was doing the exact same thing. We were not trying to make her feel uncomfortable or anything, it's just that she had something that makes her stand out like a sore thumb. A blood red color of hair.

"I'm Kushina Uzumaki ya'know" she blurted out and quickly covered her mouth in embarrassment as her cheeks also became red.

"Huh, she is kind of a weird one, don't you think so Minato?" I whisper ask the blonde sitting to my left. I look at him and he was just staring at her with the smallest hint of a smile.

"Do you guys see the color of her hair?" The kid next to Mianto asks as he arrogantly smirks while looking to the kid behind him.

"Yeah, who would ever want hair like that?" The idiot in the back teased as everyone in class started laughing.

"Yato." Mianto calls my name as I look at him curiously.

"Her hair is really pretty." He whispers to me.

I looked at him with bewilderment. This is the guy that all the girls in class are going crazy over and he does not even bat an eye to any of them. Then this girl shows up out of nowhere and the first thing he says about her is how pretty her hair is.

'Ohh I am going to have so much fun with this.' I smirk as I see a golden opportunity to mess with our very own golden goose.

As everyone is still rambling on about her hair, the teacher is trying to quiet them down. As he is doing that the redhead makes a bold declaration.

"I am going to be the first female Hokage of the hidden leaf village." she announces to the whole class.

'Well that got everyone to shut up.' I think in amusement. Mianto then stands up and makes another announcement that actually kind of surprised me.

"Me too. I want to be the best Hokage that the whole village respects and depends on when there is any type of trouble." he says to her with a smile and his hand tapping his chest.

'Ohh, I am seriously going to enjoy this.' I think as an evil smile forms on my face thanks to the evil plot that I am currently forming in my head.

As Minato sits back down, I lean closer to him and whisper,"I wouldn't have guessed that you were into redheads." He turns to me in a flash with his eyes going wide and a little hint of red on his face. I lean back and just start laughing quietly at his reaction as he tries to focus on the teacher as he teaches the fundamentals of the substitution jutsu. It's one of the three jutsu that we need to perform to pass the graduation exam and become Genin. The other two are the clone jutsu and the transformation jutsu.

The exam is in three years when we turn 12, but Minato is going to to take it next year. When he told me that I started practicing to take it as well. There is no way I will let him widen the gap between us. He is currently ranked number 1 in our class and is considered a genius in almost every aspect of being a ninja; if not all. While I am currently ranked 4th behind Taiko Uchiha whose ranked 3rd, and Renji Hyuga whose 2nd. Taiko has me beat in shurikenjutsu and both have me beat in Taijutsu. The Uchiha style taijutsu packs a serious punch, while the Hyuga's gentle fist is the best in the whole village.

I really don't know how Minato can beat them both in taijutsu. He makes it look easy; that's what everyone thinks but I notice that he is always out of breath after sparring with either of them. It's kind of funny actually, the mighty Uchiha and the Hyuga clan's revered taijutsu only make Minato lose his breath. Anyway, I have a year left to improve my taijutsu and my shurikenjutsu. After I beat them both I will challenge Minato to a spar and when I win I will take the number one spot in our class right before we take the exam. It's the perfect plan but I do have my work cut out for me. As good as Taiko and Renji are, Minato is even better.

As the class wraps up for the day and Kazuto sensei leaves, some kids gather around Kushina in the back of the class and start making fun of her. Minato and I are just watching as one of them yells out loud while pointing to her face,"Tomato, your name is tomato from now on. With your round chubby face and the color of your hair it totally fits." And they just keep on laughing and teasing her. I teased Minato by telling him to be her knight in shinning armor and then she would fall head over heels for him.

But he surprised me by saying,"She doesn't need a knight, she can take care of herself." I was a little taken back by his response and a little annoyed that I didn't get the reaction I wanted. As she was being teased she looks in our direction and I think she locked eyes with Minato. As one idiot grabs her hair and starts pulling while saying something about harvesting, Kushina grabs his arm and spins the bully around about a dozen times causing the group around her to disperse and some to fall away from her.

"YOU KEEP CALLING ME TOMATO AND I'LL TURN YOU INTO SMASHED TOMATO YA'KNOW." Kushina yells as she starts punching the bully in the back of the head while she was sitting on his back and they were both on the floor. Minato was looking at her and smiling while I was trying not to burst out laughing. She looks at us both and yells,"WHAT ARE YOU TWO LOOKING AT." We both tense up and turn back around trying not to suffer the redheads wrath.

"Hey Minato." I whisper. "Yeah Yato." he whispers back.

"That is one scary tomato."

I have decided to make pakura the love inerest. There is a lot we don't know about here which honestly makes her the perfect match cause she wont effect the story that match. Now I was watching the episode that tells the backstory of kushina meeting minato and all that, I followed how it went and made it from the perspective of the oc. As it's my first time writing I will stick to the plot of the story but I will add enemy oc that yato will fight to get stronger. I want him to be minato's rival but not his equal, if that makes sense. Kind of like vegeta is to goku, like he is right there behind him and can give him a good challenge but he is not a genious like minato. thx and if you have any comments, advice, or suggestions feel free to let me know.
