Amphibia: lost among the stars chapter 1

Chapter 1: heart attack

Two girls sat outside a room, in some sort of sterile building.

Of course, these two girls wanted nothing more than to be inside the room, next to their best friend. They just wanted to comfort her. However, they appreciated that time was needed alone with the family, so the duo waited patiently.

The first had blonde hair, tied into a ponytail with a scrunchie, and cerulean blue eyes. She wore a pink t-shirt and a pair of baggy jeans, despite it being the summer. On her face was a plastered look of intense worry.

This was Sasha Waybright, a 13 year old LA girl, born and bred. She was known by many as a mean girl- esque control freak, but to her close friends (which there were far and few between) knew that deep inside, she cared greatly for those she loved and would do anything to protect them.

The other, chewing her nails in an extremely worried fashion, was Marcy wu. She had short raven-black hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a green t-shirt and a pair of dungaree shorts, as well as a green hairclip in her hair. Marcy was well known to be a nerd, a geek, whatever you want to say, and always seemed to be in her own world. Of course, these were observations by people who didn't understand her caring nature, and that she'd do anything to keep her loved ones safe.

And of course, they never wanted to be a duo.

For there was always a third, the heart of the group, to keep them going, to keep them together.

And that was who they were waiting for.

Various beeping sounds could be heard from the room, and various whisperings could be heard.

This wasn't right. Anne should be sitting here with them- no, none of them should be sitting here! They should be outside, doing what friends normally do on their birthday.

But no. They were sitting down after talking with Anne the previous day. The conversation went a little like this:

Sasha and marcy walked in to the Boonchuys surrounding a bed with a weakly smiling Girl. The girl had bushy brown hair, so much so that it looked like a bush, and got stuff stuck in it all the time. She had darker skin and brown eyes, and was wearing a hospital gown. This was Anne.

"Hey, Anne," Marcy said sheepishly.

"…happy birthday." Continued Sasha.

Anne sat up, only to lie back down again.

"Thanks guys, you didn't have to," she said.

"We got you a gift," marcy said, both of them holding out a present.

Anne opened it to find a music box, adorned with three gems.

"It's awesome. Thanks guys."

She opened it…

And inside was a card.

"We wrote you a card."

'Hey Anne!

Sorry we couldn't pop in last week. School, you know how it is.'

Anne chuckled.

'Anyway, we were walking back from school and we saw this in a thrift store and thought, wow! Anne would love this! So we cached our money together and got it for you!

Love ya girl,

Sasha and marcy.'

Anne smiled, and then started crying.

"Anne? What is it?" Asked marcy.

"Anne, you don't have to talk about it," said mr. Boonchuy softly.

"…guys, I don't want to die."

Sasha was shocked. "What?"

"The doctors," anne said, putting on a smile whilst still crying, "they say i'm not getting any better. My condition is only getting worse."

"You'll pull through, Anne," marcy said, silently doubting her words.

"But that's the thing. I don't think I will. They might have to take me off life support."

Silence.

"Well, Anne," Sasha said, grabbing hold of her hand, "whatever happens," and marcy held her other hand, "we'll be with you every step of the way."

They had been told to leave shortly after, as Anne needed to rest.

The next day, shocking news came.

Before they were due to go to school, the two got news that Anne… Anne wasn't doing so well.

They rushed to the hospital, driven by their parents who dropped them off, but they weren't allowed in the room, and here they were now.

The two sat down, nervous of what was happening. They couldn't lose heart, In more ways than one. So they kept it together, hoping desperately for some sort of miracle. Anne to wake up and be fine. For whatever horrible thing was inside of her to just LEAVE HER ALONE.

A doctor walked out.

"I'm sorry. We lost her."

Sasha wanted to say something, but no words came out.

———————————————

Sasha was going to stay with her father for a while. He was always better at keeping her calm. After all, a mother working in the LAPD can't always be there for you.

Marcy's parents, previously thinking of moving, decided against it. Marcy was going through a REALLY hard time, having lost her first and one of her only friends since childhood, and change like that would be too much.

The two were sitting on a bench in marcy's backyard, which was adjacent to the woods, with the music box between them. Anne's parents had given it to them, saying that Anne would have wanted them to have it.

Neither really knew what to do. As much as they were friends, they felt… lost without Anne. So they just sat there, admiring the stared at the stars.

A blue flash.

"That's a nice shooting star," Sasha said absent mindedly.

Marcy broke out of a trance, looking at it."No."

Sasha scoffed. "Suit yourself then."

"No, I meant, that's not a shooting star. The angle, the speed, the size, it's all off." And she stood up. "Follow me."

Sasha stood up too, picking up the box and bringing it with her.

They dashed through the woods until they saw a blue glow in the distance. They followed it and found something amazing.

A giant hulk of metal, with wings, and thrusters glowing blue, and visors. Next to it was some sort of… mass? It was a sort of blob of wriggly tendrils, in the rough shape of a human, almost as if trying to imitate. It was making some sort of strange sound.

"Erm… hello?" Sasha said. "Wha- what are you?"

It nodded. "Oh, so you guys speak basic? Weird, that is a really worrying and oddly convenient coincidence!" As it spoke, it pulsated and glowed slightly blue.

Sasha took a deep breath. "What are you?"

"Oh, so you guys don't know about aliens. That makes since. I'll keep that in mind!" The voice sounded familiar.

"Erm, you still haven't answered our question," sasha said, losing her temper.

"Hang on, i'll morph into a more pleasing form for you," it said, changing shape… into Anne. It was Anne, but… blue?

"My name's Anne."

"…what?"

Hey!

Hope you enjoyed. This was a recommendation from a close friend and I might not continue it, but i'll try if you guys liked it. It's a little more sad than my other fanfics so be warned.

Cya!
