A/N: So I've actually decided to start writing fics now and this will have the (questionable) honor of being the first one! Now this is gonna be a long note but I just wanted to explain myself. You can obviously skip through this but I think that you should read through this first.

1. Don't take this seriously. No, really, don't. This is basically just me practicing my writing and fulfilling an idea that I have and isn't meant to be taken seriously at all. I still want feedback to see what I did right and what I could have done better :)

2. I got this idea while trying (and failing) to fall asleep at like 1 am so I apologise if it isn't exactly the most well thought out story ever.

3. The animatronics aren't sentient. Sorry but the idea I had with the fic kinda depends on them not being capable of emotions. Also no creepy dead ghost children thingies, Freddy & friends still try to kill the night guard though. Why? uhhh I guess they think they're endoskeletons like phone guy said? It's not really important to the story.

4. I might make a spin-off (if you can call it that) or second chapter later that explores an alternate universe (if you can call it that) where the animatronics are sentient and are capable of emotions, such as love, and as such Mangle for some reason returns the night guard's feelings cuz it would be kinda awkward if she didn't. It depends on if I can make it work and also on the response this story gets. Also no explicit content. Even if I was comfortable with and capable of writing it, it would be impossible because... uhh... the animatronics obviously do not have the required parts since they're, you know, robots. Also, again, no creepy dead ghost children. I'm already completely ruining FNAF lore so why not ruin it more? I also just plainly don't like the idea of Freddy & co. being possessed by dead vengeful ghost children even if it's canon lore. I know it's le spooky horror game with deep lore but that's just my take on it.

5. Yes, Mangle is female. Or at least as close to being female as a non-sentient robot can be. Besides Mangle's appearance looking very feminine (Toy Bonnie is an exception but he is obviously male (why would they switch Bonnie's gender around when he was male at first?)) there's also the fact that the "Ladies' night" option for FNAF 2's custom night includes her with both old and new Chica so Scott pretty much already confirmed it. Any use of male pronouns for Mangle will be retroactively changed to female pronouns because Scott can't stay consistent, apparently.

6. I apologise for any grammar or spelling mistakes that I have missed. English is not my native language (even though I think I'm pretty good at it) and I suck at formatting and the quality of my writing decreases significantly if I'm tired, which I am pretty much all the time.

Oh and also, obviously I don't own FNAF or anything related to it (that questionable honor goes to Scott Cawthon). I'm just some dumbass on the internet with too much time on my hands. Sorry for making this note super long. I PROMISE the next one will be shorter. Hope you like reading this, I guess.

"... Now she's just a mess of parts. I think the employees refer to her as just the Mangle..."

Evan Morris thought that was a fitting nickname, if mean. It was his third night as the night guard at Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and he had noticed the broken animatronic in Kid's Cove before and she had moved during his second night. Despite the fact that she was trying to kill him, he felt a little bad for her. Logically he knew that robots do not have feelings and are incapable of feeling pain but he still couldn't help but feel bad for the poor robot. It couldn't possibly be enjoyable to have your limbs torn from your body and then put back in the wrong spot every day. Honestly? Evan couldn't really blame her for being so aggressive, even though she tried to kill him. Then there's also the fact that she kept making strange static noises wherever she went and it almost sounded like an old malfunctioning radio. In fact, if he listened closely he could make out what appeared to be a voice but it was hard to distinguish from the static so he thought that he might have been hearing things. It seemed like her voicebox was broken and malfunctioning.

Phone Guy, or whatever his actual name was, kept talking about how any rumors about Freddy's were false but Evan didn't really listen. He didn't have time to listen to Phone Guy's nonsense whilst he tried to survive this cursed place. Sometimes he thought about quitting and never coming back but he really needed the money. It was hard for a young man in his early 20's with no prior experience to get a good job and he had student loans to pay off so he jumped at the opportunity to get a supposedly easy job at some local children's pizzeria. In hindsight, he should have been more suspicious of the fact that he was hired so fast. When he called the number listed in the newspaper advertisement, Evan asked if the position was still available and when the other person confirmed that it was, they told Evan that he was hired and to come in at 11 PM to learn the basics.

Cursing his foolishness, he checked the cameras again. He nearly jumped out of his seat when he saw that old Chica was in Party Room 4, staring at the camera. What scared him even more was that he could see the endoskeleton's teeth inside of her mouth. He quickly glanced at his watch and it said that it was 1:12 AM. He quickly checked the vent cameras and then went back to camera 11 to wind the music box. When he was done, he flashed his flashlight into the hallway and saw that old Foxy was there, staring at him. Evan flashed him with the flashlight multiple times, hoping to make him leave. He gave a sigh of relief after old Foxy walked away. He heard a noise from one of the vents and quickly checked both cameras and saw that old Bonnie was in the left vent. Old Bonnie looked terrifying with his missing face and those glowing red dots that served as eyes. He heard the withered rabbit start leaving the vent and saw him peek his head out. Evan swiftly put on his Freddy Fazbear mask and tried to hold his breath. Bonnie finally emerged and walked towards Evan's desk, staring at him in silence for what felt like hours but was actually just a minute. Then he crawled back into the vent and went back the way he came. Evan sighed and took off his mask. It was now 2 AM. He made sure to wind the music box again and then switched to camera 12. He saw that Mangle was still laying on the floor in a position that looked painful (if robots could feel pain, that is.).

The night continued at that pace, with animatronics trying to get into his office and Evan using his Freddy mask to make them leave. When it was finally 6 AM, he collapsed back into his chair and sat there for a minute, breathing heavily and feeling intense relief. He had survived another night. Before he went to leave the building, he walked into Kid's Cove and looked at the mangled animatronic that resided there. He crouched down and observed her at a close distance. It was hard to make out her shape from the cameras, but now he could see her entire body. As he had seen before, her limbs were attached to her spine at odd places and angles, and she had a weird second endoskeleton head attached to her. He could also see that she had only one eyeball, and it was the same with the second head. He glanced at the floor and saw that one of her eyes was lying on the floor next to her. He picked it up and pushed it back into her eye socket. "Poor thing." he mumbled. Now he felt really bad for her. He could see that the kids were really rough with her and it was a miracle that she was still functioning at this point. There were small dents in her plastic head and the paint was scratched in many places. After making sure that her eye was put back properly, Evan hurriedly left the building and drove home.

The next few days weren't special, except for the fifth night. The animatronics got more active and he noticed that Mangle was now much more active than usual. During night 5, as he looked at the right vent camera, he was pleased to see that she still had both of her eyes in their sockets. Wait. Pleased? He didn't have time to ponder that thought as she crawled out of the vent and climbed up to the ceiling to stare at him whilst making that strange static noise. Evan quickly put his Freddy mask on and tried his best to avoid eye contact with her. She stared at him for a minute and then left the same way she came. Evan felt relief but also a tiny bit of disappointment. Wait. Disappointment? He was confused about what he was feeling but he decided to focus on surviving the night first and worrying about anything else later.

When Evan heard the familiar chime of the clock as it turned to 6 AM, he drove home in silence, without even turning the radio on. When he got home he immediately went to eat. However, he couldn't stop thinking about that night. Why was he pleased when he saw that she still had both of her eyes? Why did he feel disappointed when she left? Evan didn't want to consider the implications of that and tried to come up with a more rational, logical explanation. He simply couldn't and he decided to go to bed, hoping that he was just tired.

Evan couldn't figure out what was the reason for his strange feelings on night 5. When he woke up on Sunday evening and started to prepare for the night shift, he was shocked to discover that he didn't dread the place as much anymore. After his first night, he was always terrified of going back to the Pizzeria but now he no longer feared the place as much. He was still terrified of the murderous animatronics, of course, but he also felt a slight bit of... excitement? Again, he refused to consider the implications and after preparing himself for the night, he drove to the Pizzeria that had turned him into a nervous, jumpy mess who was scared of his own shadow. He arrived at 11:30 PM and prepared everything in his office. Yet he had an urge to go to Kid's Cove to see Mangle again. It scared him that he wanted to see her again but he gave in and walked past the show stage.

As Evan entered the room, he saw Mangle on the floor again and to his dismay, she had lost her eye again. He frowned and quickly looked around for it but he wasn't able to find it. He walked closer to Mangle and crouched down. He saw that she now had a new dent on her face and the paint was chipped in a few places. He also saw what looked like small teeth marks on her muzzle. Those weren't there before. He was surprised to feel anger, not against poor Mangle there, not even against the kids that did all the damage to her, but the employees and the kids' parents. That terrified him.

Evan knew that it wasn't really the kids' fault and how instead it was the parents' fault for not teaching their kids to respect the animatronics, but it was also the fault of the employees. Those lazy fucking bastards couldn't even be bothered to fix her after she was broken, let alone make the kids stop breaking her! He stopped himself from continuing that line of thought and looked at his watch. It was 11:55 PM and he had to get to his office immediately before one of the animatronics wakes up and kills him.

Evan ran into the office and collapsed onto the chair, thinking. He had been in denial for days but it was now undeniable. He genuinely cared for Mangle. He didn't know to what extent and he wasn't even sure he wanted to know. The idea that he, a human, could possibly care for a robot sounded like something straight out of science fiction, but it was the truth. He sighed and started watching the cameras.

After a few days, it all became clear. Whenever he saw her in the cameras or in his office, he felt joy and excitement, but also fear at the same time. Whenever she left his office, he felt disappointment and relief simultaneously.

It was staring Evan right in the face but he refused to see it or even acknowledge it.

He immediately denied it. It couldn't possibly be true. He's a human being and she's a robot. Man and machine could never love each other. But those same feelings returned every time he saw her and eventually it hit him like a speeding truck. He was in love with Mangle. Or more accurately, he had a massive crush on her. He felt like he was insane for thinking so. The idea was completely absurd and if he had ever said that out loud, he would be comitted to a mental asylum, never to be seen again.
Evan expected to feel joy when he finally accepted his feelings, but he didn't. In fact, he felt worse than he had ever felt in his life. He felt soul-crushing despair.

He realised that he could never be with her. Even if she was sentient and even able to return his feelings, she wouldn't. Evan was a human, and Mangle was a machine. It could never work out. It couldn't. He cared for her, no, he loved her, but it was never going to result in anything but heartbreak.

When the clock hit 6 AM, Evan left a note saying that he was quitting and to never contact him again. He walked out of the entrance with tears in his eyes and never looked back.

A/N: So, what do you think? I have never written romance or anything like that before so forgive me if it's weird. I'm also sorry that this was pretty short but I couldn't really stretch this much longer without making it a boring mess.

I don't really have much to say except I hope you liked it and please review and tell me what you liked and what I could have done better :)

Cya!
